Oracle 9i for Solaris8 (Intel)

Hi,
Has anyone successfully installed Oracle 9i on Solaris8 (Intel) ?. Pl. post your experience.
Thanks

I recall reading a post somewhere abt that particular user being able to install "9i for Sun Sparc" on solaris-intel without any problem. I was interested in finding out if i should give it a shot myself and if there is anything to watch out for.
I have installed "8.1.7 for Sparc" on sol-intel with no problem.

Is there WLS5.1 apache plugin for Solaris8 Intel platform?

Which platform? WebLogic 8.1 does package the plugin.
Look in either in the weblogic81\server\lib\XXXXX directory or in the
    weblogic81\server\bin directory for the mod_wl_20.so.

I tried to find the Apache plugin for WebLogic 8.1, but I could not findone.
I downloaded the one from BEA web site, but it did not work. I run Apache2.0.46
on Windows 2000 and WebLogic 8.1. The plugin I downloaded gave an errormessage
complaining about the version is incompatible and require some 20020915version.
Does anyone know where I can find the apache plugin? We are testing tomove
forward to WebLogic 8.1 but without the plugin, we can not move forwardwith our
WebLogic 8.1 upgrade. Thank you for your help.

  • Has anyone installed 9i for Solaris8(for SPARC) on Solaris8- X86 (for Intel)

Has anyone installed 9i (9.0.1.1) on solaris8-X86 (intel). I know it is not available on the Oracle website for download. I was wondering if anyone has tried installing the sparc version on Intel.
I have done the same for 8i but don't know if it can be done for 9i.
    Thanks

I know this seems silly, but an "eval" version of 9i for Solaris Intel was available from the Oracle Store for the cost of the media. I have also found when I went from Solaris 8 10/01 to Solaris 8 02/02 that 9i came with the OS for the Sparc. I haven't upgraded my Intel boxes yet so I don't know if the same trick applies!
Not quite what you asked, but....

  • Oracle RDBMS for Intel MacOS X

In reading the other posts about Oracle Instant Client for Intel MacOS X, I see a lot of others are stating that no one is asking for Oracle RDBMS to be supported natively on Mac OS X (Intel).
For the record, there are many others that are asking for this from Oracle (and have been since Intel of Mac OS X was announced). I too need the Oracle Instant Client, but I really need Oracle RDBMS released as well (10g for Tiger (Intel) or better).
We have been waiting for Oracle's promise a few years ago to treat the Mac as First Class Enterprise platform. We invested in this and have been shipping our "single box" solution. However our customers are held back by only able to run Oracle 10g on Panther Server since our product must be run in a certified environment.
Oracle on Mac OS X for us has been very stable and has served our development and customers well. However, it is just not able to run "certified" on the newer hardware architecture (Intel) and a machine replacement cycle is overdue because of this.
I hope that Oracle visits this issue soon and has an announcement coincident with the launch of Leopard (UNIX 03).
I realize some of you have different needs and run the RDBMS on another platform, but not us. So please count a vote for me for both an Oracle Instant Client AND Oracle RDBMS for Mac OS X (Intel).

In reading the other posts about Oracle Instant
Client for Intel MacOS X, I see a lot of others are
stating that no one is asking for Oracle RDBMS to be
supported natively on Mac OS X (Intel).Yeah, well, those are the same people who seem to think that all it takes to release a new version of the client is switching a compiler flag, waiting 15 minutes for a build, and dumping the result onto the OTN download site. Hyperbole trumps reality. In other words, it's an Internet forum. ;-)
I'm sure you've already done this, but you're much, much better off getting on the phone with your Oracle rep and detailing to him/her just how much licensing revenue they realistically stand to lose if they don't give some attention to the Intel Mac platform. I could believe that the recent tone of discourse on this forum about "Oracle on OS X/Intel" might actually erode the position that it's a useful product direction for Oracle, so anything that license-paying folk can do to convince them otherwise would be great. :-)
Otherwise, it's just the same 5 people posting semi-anonymously making vague threats about moving to some other platform and/or venting their spleens about horrible they think Oracle is (which, I know is often a huge motivator for anyone to take on a project...)

  • Looking for a Intel-Solaris8 compatible modem

    hi,
I'm trying to obtain a compatible internal modem for my Intel Solaris 8 box, any good recommendation? I would prefer one which will be recognised by Solaris 8 during installation. Thanks in advance for your advice!!

Thanks OSXFreak, that's also a great looking case.
The case I bought is the Otterbox Defender.  It was about a toss up between the Otterbox and the Case-Mate Tough Case that I saw using the link from OSXFreak and I can't say one is better than the other.  I bought the Otterbox mainly because I found it in a store locally and I'd read good reviews on it so I grabbed it.  I work on the water and on steel decks, another reason for buying the Otterbox however I think I'd like the Tough Case as well.
    Thanks for the help guys.

  • Oracle Provider for OLE DB Error

    Hello all.
Can anyone help me understanding why using a statement like

On the sql server side, when using the Oracle Provider for OLE DB, but success when I change the linked server to use Microsoft Oracle Provider for OLE DB? It makes no sense to me. Sometimes, when I add a rownum <= 100 it does work with the Oracle OLE DB Provider. As you can see, I installed Oracle Client 10g on the sql server running version 2000, and created a linked server to an Oracle server running Oracle 10.2.4.0. The queries work fine with the Microsoft driver, but fail with the above message when using the oracle native driver.
For your information, here's the select @@version from the sql server database.

Any other information you may need, just let me know.

    Hi,
I'm not familiar with that particular error, but if you're not already using 10204 oledb/client, I'd certainly do that as a first step. There were lots of issues fixed in our oledb provider since 10201.
    Hope it helps,
