Oracle 9i HP 9000 download problem

Firstly, the files linked to from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/hpsoft.html download with a different size to that listed. I am certain that I haven't downloaded them incorrectly because I have checked the HTTP responses for Content-length and all but server_9201_hpunix64_disk2.cpio.gz gunzip/cpio without complaint. Here are the size comparisons:

My disk2 matches the content-length I observed, but I would be much appreciative of someone providing a CRC or md5 checksum for the file server_9201_hpunix64_disk2.cpio.gz so that I am not wasting my time with another large download if it happens to be corrupt on the server itself. If OTN would care to publish this, that would be even more appreciated.

Dear mark as a writer you didnt mentioned such error could happen.There are some dATA AT PAGE 22 about this error message but it couldn't solve the issue.

TWO_TASK is a UNIX-specific environment variable. The equivalent on Windows is called "LOCAL". You can find out more about LOCAL here:

I don't think LOCAL will be relevant for you. You should know if you set it - it does not get set automatically.

1) I assume you are installing the software on Windows - is that correct?
2) What is the value of your PATH variable?
3) Please post the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files from each Oracle Home. Change proprietary information if necessary.
4) Please post the listener.ora file from the server software Oracle Home. Change proprietary information if necessary.

Oracle 9i Personal Edition Download Problem

Hi there,
I'm currently attempting to download Oracle 9i Personal Edition, however upon clicking on the file link, I'm being constantly presented with the login page (even after having logged in). I checked my browser (MSIE 6) and cookies are enabled. Trying the same procedure for other files yielded the same unsuccessful results. Can anyone help please (my username is [email protected]). Download it again. I had the same problem the first time. It happens when there is a problem in your internet connection. The second time I downloaded it, it worked fine.

Oracle Developer Suite 10g download problem

Not exactly the right forum but the 600M+ file is downloading at .1KB/sec so should take a few weeks at that rate (there's noting wrong with my connection) - is Oracle doing this on purpose?

Oracle Database 10g r2 download problems

I cannot seem to download oracle database 10g release 2 for windows at all. I have tried consistently the entire day. Is it available for download?
As I need this software quite urgently, are there any mirror sites or alternative sites that I can download it from? Or is there anywhere that I can source the installation cd's from... I am based in Johannesburg, South Africa?

Which one is best for an x86_64 install?These options are platform independent (x86_64). These options are dependent on purpose of use.

I have been trying to download Oracle 9i for the past three weeks. Every time I try to download the above mentioned files the file Login.jsp gets copied. I've tried using both GetRight and GoZilla!

The best thing I advise you to do when installing Oracle 9i onto GNU/Debian is to carry a search on the OTN newsgroups for the keyword 'Debain'. I found that there were quite a few previous posts which explain in considerable detail the processes which should be followed when installing Oracle 9i onto Debain. Failing that, if you carry out a Google search for "Oracle 9i on Debian", you will there quite a few web pages which provide information of installing Oracle 9i onto Debian.

Oracle 10g for Linux x86_64 download problem

Hi all!
Due to security restrictions in our company, I can't download these two files from download.oracle.com - this

and this -
http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle10g/10201/10201_companion_linux_x86_64.cpio.gz
because they have .gz extension. Has anyone have got theirs, - would you be so kind to rename files to .zip and share for two-three days till I download theirs to my desktop?

Several Download problem's and proposal solutions

I have tried to download this and two other files, it always fail.
I have tried several tools both within windows and linux.
I have only succeed starting the download with a browser,
unable to download with the given link, got a jsp file instead.
I have tried with tools like 'wget' 'ncftpget', ... otnLogin.jsp got received.
With the browser I got a broken 630Mbyte file!
It should be nice to have the possibility to download rest of the file with
'rsync', 'rsync' have the possiblity to download only the corrupted part,
instead of download an other broken <650Mbyte file again you download
the minor part that is missing or is corrupted.
How do I get correct path to the file and is it possible for Oracle to
enable to download with 'rsync' program?
There exist 'rsync' binaries for Windows, Linux and Sun. There is no problem
recompiling the source on any unix system.

A couple of tests:
1. Create a Dummy User account with full Admin Read/Write permissions. Does that fix it?
2. Make certain your active User account has full Read/Write permissions for the storage location of both: The Catalog, and The Image Files.

Oracle 9i for Solaris download

For the past few days I have been trying to download Oracle 9i database for Solaris. I am having two problems
1.) When I go to http://otn.oracle.com/software/content.html and select "9i Database", all I see is "<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascri".
2.) I am able to get to the Oracle 9i download page by connecting to http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ (instead of http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/software_index.htm ) but once I get to the 9i for Solaris download page the links act like they have invalid URL's.
So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name
- Filename : 901solaris_disk*.cpio.gz
- Date/Time Mar 28 - 30 2002
- Browser + Version : IE 5.00.3315.1000

Firstly on behalf of the 6i Product Management team let me appologise for the problems you have been experiencing with Technet and specifically with downloading 6i.
I watch this forum and answer questions time permitting whenever I can, this forum (along with comp.databases.oracle.tools and ODTUG) are monitored by Product Management.
You need to understand that Oracle is a very big company and that getting all the little parts to work seamlessly together sometimes doesn't work as well as it should, so please be assured that Tools PM is working as hard and as fast as it can to ensure that 6i is available for you to download.
I have made enquiries today to find out what is happening at Technet. This is a division of Marketing based out of the US HQ, the PM teams have no responsibility for the management or maintenance of this site, we merely monitor mail lists and post our new software when complete.
I am waiting for information on the action plan to resolve the performance and download problems being experienced by the Developer community.
In response to some of the comments posted about downloading
It is obvious that 6i has been out for a WHILEActually this is not true, it has been available for download for a while, but not orderable..
Product Release Point Dates:
(1)
Release to MFG - 24-MAR-00 (This date is used by engineering and is the start of the 16-week period for the 1st patchset.) THE PRODUCT IS NOT ORDERABLE YET.
(2)
Release to PRG - 14-APR-00 (This is the M&D hand-off date for the Tools CD Pack.) THE PRODUCT IS NOT ORDERABLE YET.
(3)
Between 6:00PM PST and midnight 27-APR-00 - R6i, Windows, was added to the Oracle Store and officially orderable.
I have seen many posted messages, iTARS, etc referencing the availability of downloading forms updates, availablity of getting patchesAs you will see from the information above, this is not possible, patch one for 6i will not be released until 16 weeks after 24-MAR-2000
How much do we have to pay and who do we have to kiss to get a freakin update from Oracle? As the author of this comment has a support contract, they will know that you do not automatically get updates for products for which you hold licences. You merely need to order the latest version of the CD. Your support Account Manager will be able to advise you how to do this.

As an update on the OTN performance problem I talked about earlier, I got some info from Global Ops
Customers are trying to download software from ftp.oracle.com, a server managed by the datacenter. The server is actually 2 servers (mirrored), with 1,400 connections (700 per machine). Bottom line is that ftp.oracle.com doesn't have enough connections to support the number of users trying to download Oracle products each day. Approval has been received for a dedicated OC3 pipe to the ftp server; it's believed this will boost the current capacity to 4-5 times what's there today.
Other improvement measures are being investigated.
Whilst this is being resolved, please consider ordering the CD which is free. I have just tested this and it worked for me ;)
