Oracle 9i installation over 10g express and importing tables

I have Oracle 10g Express Edition installed. I want to install Oracle 9i database because of some reasons and want to import few tables from Oracle 10g database to Oracle 9i database. Is it possible? I also want to know whether 10g and 9i can work in isolation without problems.

According to How converting WE8MSWIN1252 character set to AL32UTF8 character set, import/export of some tables should work.

  • How I can Export and Import tables using BRTOOL ?

    Dear All,
    Since we upgrade the oracle from 9.0.2 to 10.2.2 we not using SAPDBA any more.
    please help me if you now how to export and import tables in sapr3 using brtools?
    thanks and Best regards,
    Chrisna

    Dear Chrisna,
    first of all you should get the recent version of the BRTOOLS (currently it's BRTOOLS 7.00 (<b>26</b>)). The developers are working hard on making these tools more reliable and usable so you should not deny the improvements to yourself.
    Now to your problem:
    Try this call:
    brspace -f tbexport -o SAPR3 -t SSF_PSE_D,SSF_PSE_H,HTTPURLLOC
    You don't need to specify a tablespace; it's just a additional option to select what tables you like to export.

  • Oracle 10g Express and Windows Vista

    I am new to Express and this forum. I have been searching the Oracle site to see when Express will be Vista ready. I found some info that there are some tweeks that you can do to trick it to working on Vista. I would like to know when there will be an official release that is Vista compatible. Thanks PM

    Well, I posted this and then I did find a document that talks about the 10g Release 2 supports VISTA with some exceptions. Thanks PM

  • Oracle 10g express and jdevloper 10g

    hi,
    i created a connection via the graphic mode of jdev10g, but i didn't find the way how to use this connection.
    i am using oracle 10g express
    somebody can help me

    A JDBC connection may be used as a JNDI resource.
    If the Connections-Navigator connection is DBConnection1, the corresponding datasource is jdbc/DBConnection1DS.
    1. Create a JSP page or a servlet.
    2. In the web.xml of the web application add
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/DBConnection1DS</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    3. In the JSP page or servlet obtain a connection with the datasource.
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    javax.sql.DataSource ds = (javax.sql.DataSource)initialContext.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/DBConnection1DS");
    java.sql.Connection conn = ds.getConnection();

  • Advantage of datapump export and import over original export and import

    Hi,
    let me know the Advantage of datapump export(expdm) and import(impdm) over original export(exp) and import(imp).

    Hello,
    let me know the Advantage of datapump export(expdm) and import(impdm) over original export(exp) and import(imp). There're many advantages on using DATAPUMP.
    For instance, with INCLUDE / EXCLUDE parameters you can filter exactly which Object and / or Object Type you intend to Export or Import. Which is not easy with the Original Export / Import (except for Tables, Index, constraints,...).
    You can Import straightly from a NETWORK_LINK without using a Dump.
    You have many interesting features as COMPRESSION, FLASHBACK_SCN / _TIME*,... .
    You can use PL/SQL API to perform your Export / Import rather than using the Command Line Interface.
    More over, the DATAPUMP is much more optimized than the Original Export/Import and use Direct Path or External Tables, ... and what to say about the REMAP_% parameters which let you rename Datafiles, Schema, Tablespaces, ...
    There would be many things to tell about DATAPUMP. You'll find an overview of this very good tool on the following links:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDataPump10g.php
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/DataPumpEnhancements_11gR1.php
    Hope this help.

  • ORACLE 8i INSTALLER WITH P4 ISSUES AND TNS ERROR WITH 9i

    I want to thank those that have been of help on this subject matter. Finally after 2 agonised weeks, I was able to get around the Oracle 8i installer not able to run on my Pentium 4 laptop. Also having problem logging in to 9i SQL*PLUS. I just want to reinstate that by renaming the file symcjit.dll to symcjit.old does not work automatically. I tried it on Oracle 8.1.6 and 8.1.7(Enterprise/Standard/Personal) many times. Although it did work with Oracle Personal 8.1.6 at one point in time after the system has already 9i installed. After uninstalling the 9i, the installer stopped working again. I WAS NOT SURE IF ORACLE HAS THIS ORACLE 9i DATABASE ENTERPRISE/STANDARD/PERSONAL FOR WINDOWS NT/2000/XP ON CD. THE ONE I BOUGHT IS THE 9IAS AND 9IDS (2 Boxes) WHICH WILL NOT CONFIGURE YOUR DATABASE FOR YOU.
    When I was about to give up after doing some more research, then I saw the download for "Oracle9i Database Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP". I followed the exact direction, but did everything in my directory and not DOS since I don't know the command for unzipping files in DOS. By unzipping all the files in their respective folders Disk1/Disk2/Disk3, and going to install/win32/setup.exe, the rest of the installation went smoothly, when the system prompt for the location of the next disk, just type 2 and then 3. The installation configured everything like tnsnmaes, instances, databases e.t.c. All I did was suppied the password for Sys and System.
    By downloading this particular file, I was able to bypass any configuration which is a pain, but not for you DBA guys out there. THE DOCUMENTATION FOR THESE CD,s DID NOT GIVE EXACT STEP BY STEP FOR CONFIGURATION, ONLY INSTALLATION. I AM A DEVELOPER AND NOT A DBA. Orale 8i is more easy to confugure than 9i. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO INSTALL 6i, 9ids AND SQL NAVIGATOR ON TOP OF THIS 9i, AND ALL CONNECTIONS WORKED PERFECTLY BY USING SYS OR SYSTEM AND THE PASSWORD I SUPPLIED DURING INSTALLATION.
    AGAIN THANKS TO EVERYBODY USING THIS FORUM. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AND DOING A GOOD JOB HELPING OUT OTHERS. LET'S KEEP IT ROLLING!!!

    O yea, I used WinZip 8.1 and it created correct directory stucture - that's the whole problem

  • Exporting and importing table using R3trans program between 2 clients

    Hi,
    How to export and import a table between to clients in a same system using R3trans program?
    I need to copy a table from Client 020 in a system to client 040 of the same system using R3 trans. I need to know the procedure.
    Can any one advice
    Regards,
    Suresh

    This is how you do a export and import of table entries.
    Export:
    Open Notepad and type the following,
    export
    client = 020
    file = 'clone.export.<sid>.<client no>.data'
    select * from <client_dependent_tablename1>
    select * from <client_dependent_tablename2>
    select * from <client_dependent_tablenamen>
    Save the file as export.ctl
    Run R3trans export.ctl
    and the data of these files will be stored in a file called clone.export.<sid>.data in the directory from which you have called R3trans
    Import:
    Open Notepad,
    import
    client = 040
    file = clone.export.<sid>.<client no>.data
    buffersync = yes
    Save the file as import.ctl
    Run R3trans import.ctl
    Cheers!

  • Hi, Is there a minimum bandwidth needed to decently stream CD quality music over Airport Express and / or Apple TV.

    I'm living in Paris but planning to use my devices in Sri Lanka during vacation where Internet bandwidth is not exceedingly high. So wonder if the system will work properly.

    For streaming audio via AirPlay/AirTunes to an AirPort Express Base Station (AX), from a iTunes host on the local network, 802.11g-level bandwidth (54 Mbps) should be fine. iTunes, uses QuickTime to encode any audio source to Apple Lossless before streaming to the AX.
