Oracle 9i Linux amd64 download fails

I have tried to download the 3 files on this page
http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/linuxx8664soft.html
several times. The result is always the same. Following the instructions for ungzip'ing and cpio'ing the files are found to be corrupted. The cksum of the download files are exactly the same as posted on the webpage. Any explanation or suggestions?

i did check for the OS and version compatibilty before downloading... also i have enough disk space.... i got an Unexpected End of File error.

  • Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.1 Installation Fails during Disk Partitioning

    Hi,
I've tried to install Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.1 by creating a Virtual Machine using Oracle VM Virtual Box in my laptop with Window XP host OS (NTFS filesystem), by following the below steps.
    1) Installed Oracle VM Virtual Box
    2) Created a new Virtual machine using a virtual box by specifying the two .iso images i.e OracleLinux-R6-U1-Server-i386-dvd.iso and boot.iso as the boot device and by specifying the following Disk files (.vdi) as follows.
    2.1) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_Root_Disk_1.vdi - For the / (i.e Root) partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 10 GB - ext4
    2.2) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_Swap_Disk_1.vdi - For the swap partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 10 GB - swap
    2.3) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_User_Disk_1.vdi - For the /usr partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 20 GB - ext4
    2.4) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_Home_Disk_1.vdi - For the /home partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 10 GB - ext4
But while installing OEL 6.1 after specifying the partitions, the installer get hung and throws an error as bug while creating the ext4 filesystem on /dev/sda1.
I tried to specify the default 8 GB for all the above four partitions, the installer successfully continues without any issues. But if i specify any partition more than 8 GB, it fails.
Is there anyway I can solve this problem by creating the above specified partitions with the above size ? Why does it fail if i specify any size more than 8 GB ?
    Thanks
    Harish

8 GB is a common limit for systems were the boot loader or system BIOS imposes an addressable space limit for the boot partition. In such situations, the system boot partition has to fit within the first 8 GB physical boundary of the harddrive.
Your setup seems a bit unusual. Why do you create separate disks for each Linux partition?
Normally the Linux installer creates necessary partitions on the disk, including a /boot partition that is usually only 100 MB in size.
What are you doing with boot.iso? You should be able to start the system from the main installation DVD or .iso image. You might also want to install x86_64 Linux, unless your hardware is really very old and does not support the 64-bit extension. You can run 32-bit software on a n 64-bit OS, but not the other way around and you will limit your software to 32-bit only.

  • Oracle 10g for Linux x86_64 download problem

    Hi all!
Due to security restrictions in our company, I can't download these two files from download.oracle.com - this
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle10g/10201/10201_database_linux_x86_64.cpio.gz
    and this -
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle10g/10201/10201_companion_linux_x86_64.cpio.gz
because they have .gz extension. Has anyone have got theirs, - would you be so kind to rename files to .zip and share for two-three days till I download theirs to my desktop?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely yours,
    Maksym.
    P.S. Sorry for my English.

  • Where to download openmotif for oracle enterprise linux?

    Hello,
I am in the process of installing OEM Grid 10204 on Linux 2.6.18-128.el5 on Oracle Enterprise Linux. I am checking the packages required for installation and I need openmotif21-2.1.30-11. Where can I download openmotif21-2.1.30-11 and its dependencies from Oracle website? Can I download this package from another non-oracle website? Thank you in advance.

If you have Oracle Enterprise Linux media CD you can mount it, find the RPMs directory and install
    rpm -Uvh openmotif21-2.1.30-9.RHEL3.6.i386.rpm
or you can download the RPM for RHEL from internet, that should works too.

Nice idea. Applies for me as well.

Another note about the versions, if they are newer in the distribution, then use them. Works for me quite well.

  • Yast installation problem on Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2

    Hi,
I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2 on a new server (Intel 64 bit) with the downloads from oracle

  • Oracle 11g installation on Oracle Enterprise Linux, 64bit version.

    Hi
I want to install oracle 11g on Oracle Enterprise Linux, 64bit version.
Do I need to set kernel parameters in this operating system, since it is not standart Linux editions.
    or
Can I have a step by step documentation for installing oracle 11g on this operating system?

    Hello,
Yes you do need to set kernal parameters in order to meet pre-requisites, otherwise your installation will fail and oracle might not work or unstable.
Here is the best place to find out stepwise installation instruction and kernel parameter configuration

  • 8.0.1.5 Download fails on install

    Aloha -
I downloaded the Linux 8051EE for Linux and my
installation hangs on the copy of tnsping off
of the CDROM I made. I took the original tar I
downloaded and made two seperate CDS and they
both hang in the same place.
    Anyone else experience this?
I am desperately seeking Oracle for Linux up to
date but Oracle won't send me the CD and the
    Technet download fails.
    HELP!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Brett

the JNLS exception is a known bug. it can be ignored and the dbassist utility will work as best can be expected. as a tip, if you are not using OFA, at the end of the dbassist process - don't select the option to create a database straight away - choose the option to save it all as scripts. then check through those before you make your database with them.

  • Choosing oracle for linux ! what are merits and demerits

we are going to choose oracle for linux for our e-commerce site which will serve as search engin and shopping mall.

    Thanks cgawoods for the advice...
I followed all the steps that you mentioned... Installing the Oracle client proved to be easy as pie on the Linux server, and connecting to the Oracle instance on the NT server was instantaneous with sqlplus... tnsping also finds the Oracle server without a hitch.
I also made the modifications to the coldfusion start script you mentioned, i.e. setting ORACLE_HOME, etc (which is also mentioned in Allaire's docs).
However.... (yes, here it comes) The DSN still comes up as 'failed' when I try to add a new one using the native drivers in the Coldfusion Administrator.
Do I need to do anything on the Oracle server side (NT) first in order to get things working?
I'm pretty stumped at this point as to why this won't work.
    Thanks
    DH

I've done Cold Fusion installs on Solaris 2.6, and am an OCP DBA. If you download the Oracle 8.0.5 EE (RedHat 5.2) or Oracle8i EE(Redhat 6.0-6.2) Server programs, you may use the "Server" installation as an Oracle Client. Once you get Oracle installed, you will need to configure the tnsnames.ora file to point to your remote database. Then, you will need to point Cold Fusion to the $ORACLE_HOME where you installed the Oracle Server software. You will want (and probably need) to use the "native" oracle driver for Cold Fusion instead of the ODBC driver. Once the Oracle installation is complete, and you can "tnsping" the Oracle instance on NT, you should be able to configure Cold Fusion to talk to your Oracle database. It's just a matter of reading Allaire's documentation on configuring Cold Fusion for use with Oracle at that point.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Oracle on Linux install

After downloading the three Oracle on Linux disks, reading the installation instructions, making accounts, mount paths, etc. I run the installer and everything goes well until I receive this one error. The error says:
    Error in writing to file
    /u01/app/oracle/product/9.0.1.0.0/assistants/dbca/templates/Data_Warehouse.dfj
I believe that because of this error the install fails. I also get several errors with makefiles and linking if that is relevant (I can also post those errors).
The system I am trying to install this on is a SGI 1100 (RedHat 7.2, 512 MB RAM, Dual P3 800 MHz CPUs). Thanks in advance.

  • Installation problem oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5

    hello support,
i've installation problems with oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5. In the section "ORACLE Net-Konfigurationsassisten" the failure "[INS-20802] Oracle NET-Konfigurationsassistent not success". What's wrong? I've followed the instructions on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley-11gr1-install.html
I've heard the problem can occur with problems in /etc/hosts? My /etc/hosts is configured:
    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1          oracle localhost.localdomain localhost
    ::1          localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
is this ok? what can I do to bring the database-installation to success?
    Thank's for help ;-)
