    I downloaded Linux Oracle 9i.
Now they say it is only a single-user software.
    What do they mean?
Can I intall it on my server and have a limited number of clients from it?
Can I make users and assign specific tasks to them?

  • Oracle for Linux download

Is this download time limited? I know there's a 30 day CD but
that doesn't give us enough time for developing a prototype
which would aid us in our decision of what database system &
platform to go for in the long term...
If this development version available on Technet has no time
limit, then it's worth downloading and evaluating.

I think you experienced a server in flux. I just tried it and it works. If it continues to fail, then post more details about how you navigated from the page you referenced.

  • Oracle 9.0.1 Linux Download Disk 1 Is NOT in gzip Format

    Hi,
I tried to download twice Oracle 9.0.1 Linux on my Windows first, then tranfer to my Linux machine. All the other disks (gz files) are transfered and uncompressed into cpio files, expect Disk 1, Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz.
I checked Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz first using WinZip on Windows, then gunzip on Linux. The problem is the same: Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz is not in gzip format.
Since all the other Disks (.cpio.gz files) works fine, my suspicion is that Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz is corrupted on the server. Has anyone in Oracle really tested the download recently?
Of cause next monday I will check direct download to my Linux machine at work.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I reported that Oracle 9.0.1 Linux Download Disk 1 does not work if I first download it to Windows. My colleague downloaded it to a Linux machine, and it can be unzipped.
So only one disk file can only be directly downloaded to Linux.

  • Where to download openmotif for oracle enterprise linux?

    Hello,
I am in the process of installing OEM Grid 10204 on Linux 2.6.18-128.el5 on Oracle Enterprise Linux. I am checking the packages required for installation and I need openmotif21-2.1.30-11. Where can I download openmotif21-2.1.30-11 and its dependencies from Oracle website? Can I download this package from another non-oracle website? Thank you in advance.

If you have Oracle Enterprise Linux media CD you can mount it, find the RPMs directory and install
    rpm -Uvh openmotif21-2.1.30-9.RHEL3.6.i386.rpm
or you can download the RPM for RHEL from internet, that should works too.

Nice idea. Applies for me as well.

Another note about the versions, if they are newer in the distribution, then use them. Works for me quite well.

  • Yast installation problem on Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2

    Hi,
I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2 on a new server (Intel 64 bit) with the downloads from oracle
    (Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc1.iso till Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc6.iso).

  • How to install Oracle Enterprised Linux on VMware PLayer 4

    Hi Everyone,
My name is John and I've a small issue which I would like to share with you and hopefully, you are able to assist.
My laptop is installed with a Window 7 Home Edition operating system and I've installed VMware-player-4.0.2. After reboot, I've also downloaded the file - V29609-01 which is the ISO file of Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.2.
After that, I've tried to create a Virtual Machine - Oracle Enterprise Linux using the VMware Player by specifying the path and file name of the V29609-01.iso file on my local c:\ drive. I've tried it several times, but every time it just returns the message - 'pxe-e53 no boot filename received' and it just hangs there without proceeding further. Please let me know what I've done wrong and the correct steps and procedures to solve this problem as this is my first time installing a Linux operating system. Thank you for your assistance.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi,
Can you clarify and explain what is your exact meaning of 'Are you sure you've added the ISO to the VM to boot from?'? Because the following is what I did:
1.) Click the Create A New Virtual Machine.
2.) Select the 'Install disc image file (iso):' option and enter the full path of the V29609-01.iso (Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.2) file that I've downloaded from https://edelivery.oracle.com/. But underneath it, that is a message saying - 'Could not detect which operating systems is in this dsic image. You will need to specify which operating system will be installed.'
    3.) Click 'Next'.
4.) I chose "Linux' under the Guest operating system and chose 'Oracle Enterprise Linux' under the Version drop down.
    5.) Click 'Next'.
6.) I left the Virtual machine name as 'Oracle Enterprise Linux' and click 'Next'.
7.) I set the Maximum disk size to 300 GB and have the 'Split virtual disk into multiple files' option selected and click 'Next'.
8.) I have the 'Power on this virtual machine after creation' checked and click 'Finish'.
9.) A black screen displayed inside the VMware Player saying:
    'CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 0C 289 ......
    PXE-E53: No Boot filename received
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
    Operating System not found
10.) And the process just hangs there.

    John

    hi,

I have downloaded Oracle Unbreakable Linux 5 from edelivery.oracle.com.
I have installed Oracle Unbreakable Linux 5. It has got all the packaged installed except the these 2 packages as prescibed by Metalink.
    pdksh-5.2.14-30.3
    xscreensaver-4.18-5.rhel4.11
When i try to apply these packages, they don't get installed.
Oracle Unbreakable Linux 5 has installed ksh-93, is this enough or do i need to install ( pdksh ) for installing R12.
Regarding xscreensaver, Oracle Unbreakable Linux 5 has got kscreensaver, screen and gnome-screensaver. are these enough or do i need to install the Package - (xscreensaver-4.18-5.rhel4.11). In this package the package name seems to be of rhel4.11.
Do i need to apply any RPM's for APACHE.

  • Oracle on Linux recommendations

    Hello,
I'm looking to migrate our Oracle installation from Windows to Linux. I am an experienced Linux administrator and architect, and I am also very familiar with SAN storage, but have not looked at the details of implementing Oracle on Linux before. I have certain constraints dictated by our client requirements and available hardware. Namely, the hardware platform will be 2 HP DL580's connected via dual fibre to HDS (Hitachi) 9900V storage. There will be multiple luns presented for different containers. As a result of the multiple storage paths we require good multipath IO support. For this reason my first choice is Redhat Enterprise AS 5. However, on the database side we are limited due to client application compatibility to Oracle 10g R1/R2. We are looking to deploy RAC. We are also looking at 64bit for larger file and memory support. Is this realistic?
What sort of configuration should I be looking at?
Should I be looking at Oracle Enterprise Linux 5?
Am I going to have problems if we want to use RHEL5?
Is Oragle 10g well supported on RHEL5/OEL5 or will I have to drop to RHEL4/OEL4 (which may cause problems for my SAN mpio support.)
Will we require OCFS2 for any reason?
What advantage is there to me in running unbreakable linux? I've read the marketing blurbs but it is not clear to me what the advantages are.
    Any feedback is welcome.
    Thanks,
    Sheldon.

    Hi,
I think it is Okay to you mentioned configuration to deploy the RAC based on 10g &RHEL5/OEL5.As a matter of fact,Oracle 10gR2 64-bit has been certified on RHEL5-64bit&OEL5-64bit.
Actually,OCFS2 and ASM are supported by Oracle RAC.The recommended way to manage large amounts of storage in a RAC environment is ASM (Automatic Storage Management). If you want to use the cluster file system,OCFS2 as an open source project is provided.
OEL5 is fully compatible with RHEL5.Unbreakable Linux is support service. If you choose the OEL5,you can benefit from it as below:
1,Oracle Enterprise Linux is Free to Download. For Enterprise customers had to pay for a support contract to actually get an enterprise Linux distribution, even if they just wanted to evaluate it. With Oracle Unbreakable Linux, customers can always download the binaries and the source code for free, no support subscription required.Free download at: http://edelivery.oracle.com/linux
2,Oracle applied a number of bugfixes on top of the original code. These are very limited in scope, and they are critical for customers to have as soon as possible in their production deployment. For a complete listing, read the following data sheets:http://www.oracle.com/technologies/linux/el5cert-ds.pdf
    3,Extensive Testing:
Tremendous effort has gone into assuring that there is no divergence from the original Red Hat source code, given that the main goal of Oracle Enterprise Linux and the Oracle.

  • Select DBase (.dbf) data from Oracle on Linux

How to select DBase (.dbf) data from Oracle on Linux ?
dbf files connected to Linux form NetWare server as 'ncpmount'.
Oracle has access as oracle 'Directory' object.

If you have an ODBC driver for it and are using Oracle 10g you can use Generic Connectivity. For more information on Generic Connectivity refer to the Chap 7 of the Heterogeneous Connectivity Administrator's Guide.
