  • Oracle 9i manual database creation on the Red Hat 9 Linux

I installed Oracle 9I on the Red Hat 9 Linux successfully with automatic database creation.
I tried to create second database manually and everything seemed to be fine until I issued create database statement. I got the following error:
    ERROR at line 1
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced.
Please help me to solve the problem.
    Thank you,

Ok I am having the same exact problem and I am typing this into the shell before I run the installer.
    export DISPLAY=yourdesktop:0.0
I thought that would fix the problem but it still hangs and gives the same message as the other guy gets. How can I solve this problem and get the installer running? I would really appreciate any help. This is the message I get:

  • Oracle Database Manual in Raptor..?

    Hi..,
I have need to access the Oracle manual frequently. So it is good if Oracle databse HTML manual can be added in Project Raptor as a Help with searching facility like third party's "PL/SQL Developer" Tools.
If Oracle will develop this one then its very Nice.
    Thanks

Furthermore, it is a global forum. The person with the information you seek may very well live 20 time zones away from you and was going to bed just as you posted. He will not even see your post for several more hours.
Your original post went up in the middle of the night for half the world.

As for your original question, you need to at least tell us what OS you are on. Sounds like you are on Windows and have not yet used oradim to create a db service.
If you are on windows, what version AND EDITION. Oracle is not supported on any "home" edition.

  • Question about starting Oracle 9i manually!!!!

    Hi friends,
I am a student and a newbie in Installing Oracle 9i Database.
At the installation I choose the Oracle Enterprise Edition and choose also that the Installation wizard
    automatically create a DB.
My problem is, that Oracle starts up every time I boot up my machine.
Now my question is: How can I configure Oracle that it don't start every time I boot up the machine??
I would like to start up Oracle only if I want it so!!
So how can I do this???
I hope that somebody of you guys can help me!!
    thanxx
    Schobbi

    1) Go to Start ` Settings `Control panel `
(admin tools if you use win2k)` Services
2)find out the serive like OracleServiceYOURDBNAME
double click that service and choose startup type to manual
this will make your database to stop starting automatically.
3)when you want to start manually
    go to command prompt type
    set oracle_sid=yourdatabasename
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect / as sysdba
startup pfile=path of your databse par file.
(startup pfile=\oracle\admin\ora\pfile\init.ora or just type startup ).

  • Developing Oracle Reports Manually

I'm in the process of understanding Oracle Report Builder via "OCP Application Developer Exam Guide". I know the book discusses a lot of information concerning Reports, but at a high level. Which books do you recommend to better understand the specifics of Reporter Builder. Also, I need to deploy these reports to several platforms(i.e. Oracle database, e-mail to customer, web(PDF).
Any suggestions for reference knowledge, thanks.

What do you mean by "manually"?
In any case there is always the documentation:
Publishing Reports to the Web with Oracle Reports Services 11g Release 2 (11.1.2) -Contents
    or have a look here:

  • Apply Oracle bundles manually

I am at a new PS installation using Fin/SCM 9.1 and Tools 8.53.04.The DBA's here use Change Assistant but I would like to start applying bundles manually. I have the correct project and all support files. The is a document on 'Manual Instructions', however it is very brief and only covers some security setup. What I need is:
    1. The order of running dms scripts
    2. The order and settings of creating tables, altering tables, creating views, etc
I would like to know the setting in App Designer "recreate table if at already exists', 'skip table if it already exists', etc and all of the settings
you need to know in app designer.
A project will usually have things like pre-build and post-build datamover scripts and what order to run them.
When I download bundles from Oracle none of this detail is present
Does anyone know whee this detail can be found in order to apply manually and not use Change Assistant?
    Thank you

Have you read Applying Updates To A Target Environment yet?  It's been a while and also this is where some strategies differ.  There was just a post where someone asked the same thing, the suggestion was made to just manually copy the project, probably for comfort level.  If I remember this copy with compare template has a lot of automatic stops where you need to manually start it up and you can change any step to do that.  So you can just make sure it stops ahead of time and review the project so that things are flagged appropriately.  Change Assistant just runs Application Designer from the command line without a GUI so it behaves the same.  You can probably even look at the Copy step to see what options it will use.
Examine the compare report step (a manual step).
You must examine the compare reports generated to determine the appropriate action (for example, whether or not to copy the object from the source database to the target database)
Copy project from the source database.
Change Assistant copies the objects from the source database to the target database, based on the actions chosen.
I've been at a few places that used STAT for code repo and migrations.  At several of them the development teams specifically wanted an update applied without compare to every target.  They would take all new code and would build a new retro fit project and migrate it up through STAT after the Admins had come through and applied the Bundle.
Since you're the DBA I guess it should be pretty easy for you to take a backup just in case . Since it's your first time, just take it slow and review all those steps before hand.  As long as you have backups that you can restore, the worst there should be would be some delays if things go wrong.

  • How to customize oracle to manually startup/shutdown in Linux ?

    Hello Friends,
I am having Oracle 10g XE installed on Ubuntu 7.10..It is working fine..
I want to make it custom startup and shutdown..(As of now it is starting up when gutsy boots) as it is not required Oracle to run each time...Please suggest the way to do it.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
For Ubuntu, there has an alternative utility for editing runlevels that can be used just like chkconfig on RedHat.
    To install:
    # sudo apt-get install sysv-rc-conf
    Then,
    # sysv-rc-conf oracle-xe off
    Cheers

  • Creating Oracle 11g Database Manually on ASM on 11g R2 Grid

    Hi:
Earlier added this issue alongwith Grid installation. Only Jorg replied to me but could not find a complete solution. So thought of starting a new thread.
Wanted to know if any one of you have successfully created Oracle Database Manually on ASM on Oracle 11g R2 Grid.
I have installed Oracle 11g R2 grid (grid user) and Oracle 11g R2 DB software succesfully (oracle user).
Now trying to create a database manually on ASM as Oracle user.
First I create an pfile in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
then I started by db on nomount stage. when I create a spfile on to my ASM diskgroup I get
I have created 2 diskgroups '+DGASMSPFILE' (ASM Spfile) and '+DGDBDATA' (for database)
    Grid is up and running.
    From Oracle user:
    Have created a sample initDBRAC.ora
Now I want to create Oracle Database Global Spfile into '+DGASMSPFILE'
    export ORACLE_SID=DBRAC
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> create spfile='+DGASMSPFILE/spfileDBRAC.ora' from pfile;
ORA-17502:ksfdcre:4 failed to create file +DGASMSPFILE/spfileDBRAC.ora
    ORA-12547: TNS lost contact
"Oracle user" should have privileges to access ASM diskgroup right? What is the permission set for /dev/sdc* (earlier it was root:oinstall I changed it to grid:oinstall even then no difference.

    Regards
    Dinesh

    Hi Sebastian:
When I installed grid software, oracle db software and created oracle db manually things worked fine.
When I restart the RAC environment I found the following issues:
    1) all the resources does not come up automatically, once i issue crs_start -all all the services comes up. (most of the resources related to node1 comes up but cluster resources related to node2 does not come up) crsctl check crs shows that things are online.
    2) wanted to recreate a database manually after restarting the RAC enviroment. To start of as usual tried to create a spfile in ASM disk "Create spfile='+DGDBSPFILE' from pfile'
I get ORA-17502:ksfdcre:4 failed to create file +DGDBSPFILE'
    12547: TNS: lost contact
    looks like permission problem.
The same command worked before restarting the RAC environment. Pls let me know if I am missing out anything.
Is it because i am unable to access ASM instance.
    3) As you had mentioned tried to set the sbit by executing the following statement:
    $ /opt/grid/bin/setasmgidwrap o=/opt/oracle/product/11.2.0/db/bin/oracle
should this be put into "rc" folder in linux so that it gets set everytime linux starts up. because once i restart the permission get changed.
I should execute it from grid user to change the permission of 'oracle' binary in 'oracle user' right?
Can you explain me why is this required (sbit).
    Thanks.
    Regards
    Dinesh

  • Manual oracle database creation

    Hi guys,
when iam trying to create the oracle database (manually) ,
after running the CREATE DATABASE statement it has been giving
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced.
can any body help me out ...

What's the database version in which you are getting this error? As Hemant mentioned, check the last few lines of the alert log and look for some message before this error over there.

  • SAP BI-BO Integration for "BO XI 3.1 on HP-Unix-PA-RISC-64 bit"+Oracle WAS

    Hi,
We have set up SAP Integration Kit to integrate SAP BI 7.0 and BO XI
3.1. Our BO system is set up on Unix HP-UX-PA-RISC 64 BIT and Oracle Web Application Server
    10.1.3.
When we are creating a WebI report using WebI Rich Client, we are able
to fetch the data from SAP BI Query and also refresh the data using
    WebI Rich Client (Desktop).
When we are creating a WebI report from Infoview, we are able to create
the WebI report, but we get the database error "Unable to Bind to
    NetworkLayer Object"
(WIS 10901)" when trying to Run the Query i.e.
fetch the data from SAP BI Query. Same error is also there when we try
to refresh the data from Infoview for a WebI report created using WebI
    Rich Client (Desktop).
We raised an OSS Message with SAP. We got a response that :
    ====================================================================
The reason you're having this problem seems to be because you don't have the SAP dataAccess library (libdbd_sap.so) and its equivalent config files (sap folder).
Those are the files that manage the connection from BOE queries to SAP.
You can check that they exist in your Windows client fine(.dll).
Here's what I have in my HP-UX system:
    $ ls -l sap
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 4671488 Sep 13 2008 libdbd_sap.so
    sap:
    total 80
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 4650 Sep 13 2008 sapen.cod
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 358 Sep 13 2008 sap.prm
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 10670 Sep 13 2008 sap.rss
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 1343 Sep 13 2008 sap.sbo
These drivers are not installed with the SAP Kit but with the BOE setup
itself - meaning you can have a system without SAP Kit but with these drivers.
On the other hand, with SAP Kit, you can have other features such as your working SAP authentication fine but not this one since it comes with BOE.
    ====================================================================
Request the SDN Community to check the below mentioned :
    Platform : HP-UX-PA-RISC 64 bit
    Oracle WAS (instead of Tomcat).
    1) Which installer was used to install BOE XI 3.1 ?
    2) Is the BOE XI 3.1 base installer available for HP-UX-PA-RISC-64 bit ? I could not find one at SAP Service Market place (the nearest one is for HPP - 32 Bit)
    3) Do you have the relevant SAP Folder & Drivers on this path, as per the above SAP OSS Message.
    4) Any inputs on how to resolve the issue (we have so-far tried with 4 different installers for HP-UX-PA-RISC and not got any success)
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    (A) We have attempted with BOE and SAP Integration Kit in the sequence. My earlier communication has all the attachments for the steps followed, and the SAP message.
    (B) We have HP-UX-PA-RISC-64 bit. Request to please point us to the correct installer on this link
    (C) We have done 4 complete trials :
    1) BOE XI 3.0 Installer provided by BO Consultant, 6 months back & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.0 --> Upgrade to BOE XI 3.1 --> BOE FP 1.2 for XI 3.1 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.1 --> Integration Kit FP 1.2 --> Oracle WAS Manual deployment steps
    2) BOE XI 3.0 Installer & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.0 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.0 --> Oracle WAS manual deployment steps
    3) BOE XI 3.1 Installer for HP-UX-PA-RISC-32bit (HPP) & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.1 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.1 --> Oracle WAS manual deployment steps
    4) BOE XI 3.1 Installer provided by SAP OSS Support & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.1 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.1 --> Oracle WAS manual deployment steps
None of these steps have helped us.
SAP OSS Support asked us to check availability of the "SAP Folder" and "Lib / driver" files on the Connection Server Directory; which would appear once BOE XI 3.1 installer is installed (ONLY BASE Install, SAP Integration Kit is not needed).
We have also confirmed this with one another Client / Project. They have HP-UX-Itanium-64 bit and BOE-XI 3.1 only base install (No SAP Integration kit). This particular SAP Folder / Drivers are available without any SAP Integration kit.
Request to correct me, if I am wrong :
SAP Integration kit additionally provides the drivers needed for Crystal & SAP Authentication.
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

  • Cannot connect to local Oracle11g manually?

    Dear,
I installed Oracle 11g on WinXP SP2 machine using localhost with only 1 database SID="EBIZ". There are 2 services called OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener and OracleServiceEBIZ. By default, these services have startup type as Automatic, and I can connect my database ebiz easily (i.e. using SQLDeveloper to connect & access the db).
The problem is that I do not always use Oracle so I start these 2 Oracle services manually by setting the startup type as Manual and start them when necessary. However, doing this way, I receive an error "ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect description". Specifically, the database instance EBIZ cannot register to the listerner because when checking listener status (by cmd lsnrctl status) it says "The listener supports no services".
My steps to start 2 Oracle services are
    1. Start OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
...Wait several minutes to ensure the listerner works...
    2. Start OracleServiceEBIZ
... Wait several minutes to ensure ???
But the result of cmd lsnrctl status is:
