Hi,
To tune the performance, where to find the pfile? location?
What kind of tuning should be done & how?
Please advice...

User complaining report very slow?
Hi Gurus,
There is an interview question in EBS 11I:
“We have lot of issues in here, We facing some problem, the Discoverer users always complaining getting report very slow, sometimes it gives time-out error. What you think, how to resolve the problem?”
What are the answers they are looking from us?
Usually they are not satisfied with couple of answers, if we answered/verified each answer, the interviewer reply “No, …No…No……….. ”.
So tell me the answer what they are looking for. Please provide full possible scenarios.
Thanks,Here is my 2 cent comments:
1. network issue
you can compare the discoverer reports with Oracle reports or Application module to identify this, usually this is not the case
2. tune the backend query
you can run the discovery report backend sql query in TOAD, if the query is very slow, then the query has performance issue, you can modify the join condition to improve the performance
3. add Parameter to Discoverer report
sometimes it is very difficult to modify the backend sql query, you can add parameter to discoverer report, when end user run the report based on the parameter, data can be quickly displayed. for example, currently report will retrieve all invoices for the company, if you add a year parameter, 2010, the report only retrieve the invoice of 2010.
4. change timeout time
timeout issue is a discoverer report setup issue, you can change the timeout time for example from 30 minutes to 60 minutes.

Hi Guys,
My Prod db performance is very slow..
I collected the addm report and got some sql queries which are consuming significant memory.
Below out put is from ADDM Report
FINDING 1: 45% impact (9529 seconds)
SQL statements consuming significant database time were found.
RECOMMENDATION 1: SQL Tuning, 21% benefit (4393 seconds)
ACTION: Run SQL Tuning Advisor on the SQL statement with SQL_ID
"bxkdtdywnp6xa".
RELEVANT OBJECT: SQL statement with SQL_ID bxkdtdywnp6xa and
PLAN_HASH 2404633280
and I just wanted to know what is the base level analysis from DBA end.

Macbook pro performance is very slow
Mac book Pro system performance is very slow.
Reinstall OS X if you've never done this before:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
An even better choice is to wipe the drive and reinstall Leopard from scratch. Make a backup first, then restore your files from the backup. -

Is anyone tell me step by step how do i check performacne issue... i read performance book but not that help
Thanks in Advanced...Sorry for late Reply
Basically I have PI-DEV and BI-DEV system and both system has only 4GB memory and same location same network, same patch level 16, same kernal level, under windows 2003 server, and Oracle DB, but different instance... some reason in PI-DEV performance is very slow only Integration Engine...
when I go SXMB_MONI it take more then process 20 munites one transaction, as i maintion before
I checked both memory paramaters are same like configTools
I checked database table space
I checked heap memory paramaters
I deleted AFG_XI_MSG table entries no messages are hold

SAP SNC Portal DCM screen performance is very slow and times out
Friends,
SAP SNC Portal DCM screen performance is very slow and times out when user trying to pull data using customer location
What are the cleanup activites we can do to improve the overall SNC performance ?
We did open OSS message but so far no reply from SAP , Is there any one faced performance issue ?
User/vendor is complaining about slowness , query is standard SAP and its taking more time .(table - /LIME/NTREE) , It looks like number of data are huge causing this problem related to LIME/NTREE table. What are the options to improve the performance ?
Thanks in Advance
Hanuman Choudharyhi Team,
Pls . note the advise from SAP below, IS there any have experiance of archiveing /LIME records ?
Please advise how to start & what the steps in archiving ?
Thanks in advance
I had a look at the DCM query performance in PH1 system and figured out
that most of the time is spent at the LIME layer of database. The
following LIME tables are having far too many entries and is causing
the bottleneck during the query execution.
/LIME/NLOG_QUAN - 38,165,467
/LIME/PN_ITEM - 19,116,518
/LIME/PN_ITEM_TB - 19,154,124
These tables are storing the historical information about LIME(stock)
updates. Since these table grow with each change/update of stock
information, it will slow down the performance of the system over a
period of time. And to avoid the slow responses, the tables should
ideally be archived on a periodic basis to keep the data volume as
minimal as possible. You may have to discuss with the Business to
determine the number of days of LIME record you would want to retain
in the system. I would strongly recommend you to consider the LIME
archival retaining the minimum days (<=60 days) of historical
information. You can find more information about the Lime Archival
in the Sap Help link:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/44/2a83121dde23d1e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm.
Kindly get in touch with your BASIS consultant for the LIME archival.
The application performance should definitely improve after the LIME
archival. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me in case you
require any further clarification in this regards.

I am doing an an aquisition and displaying the data on graphs. When I run the program it is slow. I think because I have the number of scans to read associated with my scan rate. It takes the number of seconds I want to display on the chart times the scan rate and feeds that into the number of samples to read at a time from the AI read. The problem is that it stalls until the data points are aquired and displayed so I cannot click or change values on the front panel until the updates occur on the graph. What can I do to be able to help this?

Gmail performance is very slow in Firefox 4.
Gmail performance is very slow in Firefox 4 and much slower when compared to performance in Firefox 3.6.x After clicking a button within the Gmail interface (e.g. refresh, opening an email, sending an email etc.) there is a noticeable wait time in Firefox 4. In Firefox 3.6 and actually in any/all previous versions of Firefox, this was not the case. Using same machine for Firefox 4 as I was for Firefox 3.x. Dell Inspiron Laptop E6400, Dual core Intel 2 GHz, 3.5 GB RAM, 80 GB free HDD space, 32-bit Windows XP SP3. Gmail is set to use HTTPS always.
Hi GoldMoon,
(1)
Refer to your last posting, seems that you've created index which wouldn't help your query performance.
You need to create index from the field which supplied from your 'WHERE' condition. So if I follow your initial posting in this thread, your index should contains:
- BUKRS (which will be compared with your company variable)
- PRCTR (which will be compared with your s_prctr variable)
- GJAHR (which will be compared with your s_year variable)
- HKONT (which will be compared with your glcode value in your it_final[])
- BUDAT (which will be compared with your s_budat range/select option.
And to follow the BSIS field order, the above index field need to be arranged as follow
- BUKRS
- HKONT
- GJAHR
- BUDAT
- PRCTR
(2).
Try not to use 'INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS' as it will increase table-memory overhead, but use 'INTO' and make sure the field list and internal table fields is in the same order.
So, once the index has been created, and 'INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS' has been changed to 'INTO' your selection should looks like this:
IF NOT it_final[] IS INITIAL.
SELECT bukrs
hkont
augdt
augbl
zuonr
gjahr
belnr
buzei
budat
werks
kostl
aufnr
shkzg
dmbtr
prctr
FROM bsis
INTO TABLE it_bseg
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN it_final
WHERE bukrs eq company
AND hkont eq it_final-glcode
AND gjahr eq s_year
AND budat in s_budat
AND prctr eq s_prctr.
ENDIF.
Hope it helps -

It seems our topic is more related to the Windows OS and I would assume a server envoirnment.
I suggest posting your question in the commercial forums which should be more suitable for a such:

Mail has 16k messages, and performance is very slow, with loading times taking up to 5 seconds every time I open Mail.
How can I increase performance?
I'm running a MacBook Air 4GB 1.7GHz 10.7.2.
GrahamOne possible solution would be to organise your inbox into folders.
Its never relly good on any system to have one folder that has everything in it.
Try going to you web gui for that mail account and organise your folders and move mails from your inbox into corresponding folders for better organisation.
Several folders containing the same amount of one folder will usually load a little quicker as the folder may not be accessed to download its content unless veiwed.
So having 10 folders with organised content, and you inbox as an area thats to hold only new emails would work much much quicker with imap.
Most imap servers will only update the contents of a folder when its veiwed. -
Generation of ASH report very slow
Hello,
I'm in 11203, and generation of ASH report is very slow.
AWR and ADDM reports are generated quickly.
To understand what happen, I check the wait event on the session that is executing ASH report, and I found that this session is waiting 99% with "controlfile sequential read".
My question is :
Is there any way to make the generation of ASH report quick ?
Why the generation need to access to the controlfile ?
Thank you a lot.Hi, Keith.
I tried the pagination scheme "Row Ranges X to Y (with next and previous links)".
This caused the same problem - my page aborts with the error message:
"Internet Explorer cannot open the Intenet site https://oraweb.slac.stanford.edu/apex/slacprod/f?p=116:13:439623456781::NO:::
Operation aborted"
I even removed pagination altogether and still got the same error.
Futhermore, it is sporadic. At times I invoke the report with 500 rows and it
displays without problem. And then, 5 seconds later, I run the re-run the report (again asking to display 500 rows), and it aborts.
This report worked without error (it was "slow", but worked) two weeks ago. But now, it is failing. My gut feeling is that my problem lies with out Oracle
Application Server. I have the feeling that our DBA's have changed some
sort of configuration (a buffer, perhaps) that is causing my problem. Not sure
about this. I guess I'm reaching for straws at this point.
Thanks for your help. It is appreciated.

Oracle EBS R12 performance is very slow...
Our EBS R12 instance performance has become very slow.Users frequently complain of oracle forms taking a long time to open, concurrent taking more than normal time to complete etc.All standard requests like Gather Schema Statistics, Purge Concurrent/Manager Data etc are properly scheduled and complete successfully.Any pointers on how to resolve/diagnose/troubleshoot the slow performance of EBS is urgently needed and will be of much required help.
We have also observed that while starting the EBS database, using addbctl.sh script, the db gets mounted instantly but takes around 3-4 mins to open.We reviewed the alert log file, there are no reported errors as such.
Server Specifications:
Processor:3.0 GHz (Single Processor)
Memory: 16 GB
OS:RHEL 5.2(x86)
Regards,Hi,
Can you find any errors at the OS level? Any space issue or core dump files generated?
What changes have been done recently?
You should find some guidelines about troubleshooting performance in these threads, please refer to the referenced documents.

NFS write performance 6 times slower than read
Hi all,
I built my self a new homeserver and want to use NFS to export stuff to the clients. Problem is that I get a big difference in writing and reading from/to the share. Everything is connected by GBit Network, and raw network speed is fine.
Reading on the clients yields about 31MByte/s which is almost the native speed of the disks (which are luks-encrypted). But writing to the share gives only about 5.1MByte/s in the best case. Writing to the disks internally gives about 30MByte/s too. Also writing with unencrypted rsync from the client to the server gives about 25-30MByte/s, so it is definitely not a network or disk problem. So I wonder if there is anything that I could do to improve the Write-Performance of my NFS-shares. Here is my config which gives the best results so far:
Server-Side:
/etc/exports
/mnt/data 192.168.0.0/24(rw,async,no_subtree_check,crossmnt,fsid=0)
/mnt/udata 192.168.0.0/24(rw,async,no_subtree_check,crossmnt,fsid=1)
/etc/conf.d/nfs-server.conf
NFSD_OPTS=""
NFSD_COUNT="32"
PROCNFSD_MOUNTPOINT=""
PROCNFSD_MOUNTOPTS=""
MOUNTD_OPTS="--no-nfs-version 1 --no-nfs-version 2"
NEED_SVCGSSD=""
SVCGSSD_OPTS=""
Client-Side:
/etc/fstab
192.168.0.1:/mnt/data /mnt/NFS nfs rsize=32768,wsize=32768,intr,noatime 0 0
Additional Infos:
NFS to the unencrypted /mnt/udata gives about 20MByte/s reading and 10MByte/s writing.
Internal Speed of the discs is about 37-38MByte/s reading/writing for the encrypted one, and 44-45MByte/s for the unencrypted (notebook-hdd)
I Noticed that the load average on the server goes over 10 while the CPU stays at 10-20%
So if anyone has any idea what might go wrong here please let me know. If you need more information I will gladly provide it.
TIA
seiichiro0185
Last edited by seiichiro0185 (2010-02-06 13:05:23)Your rsize and wsize looks way too big. I just use defaults and it runs fine.
I don't know what your server is but I plucked this from BSD Magazine.
There is one point worth mentioning here, modern Linux usually uses wsize and rsize 8192 by default and that can cause problems with BSD servers as many support only wsize and rsize 1024. I suggest you add the option -o wsize=1024,rsize=1024 when you mount the share on your Linux machines.
You also might want to check here for some optimisations http://www.linuxselfhelp.com/howtos/NFS … WTO-4.html
A trick to increase NFS write performance is to disable synchronous writes on the server. The NFS specification states that NFS write requests shall not be considered finished before the data written is on a non-volatile medium (normally the disk). This restricts the write performance somewhat, asynchronous writes will speed NFS writes up.
