Oracle 9i on OEL 4.8 64bit

Hi all,
does Oracle 9i could be installed on OEL 4.8 64 bit?
Regards,
Asim

due to hardware upgrade need to perform this installation.
Currently using HP proliant servers
OS=RHELAS 4
EBS= 11.5.10.2
DB= 9.2.0.6.0
new hardware is Dell Power Edge series, and NO plan for application or database upgrade.
could not install previously used OS (RHELAS 4) on new servers so on test machine installed OEL 4.8 32 bit (application and database was working fine)
but was't sure about OEL4.8 64 bit.

As Avi said, the vNic is actually not rate limited to any speed. It will run at the maximum speed of the hardware - which should be well in excess of 1Gb.
If you're talking to something outside of the physical system, then you are limited by the speed of the physical NIC in the server - at which point you need to check it either from Dom0 or from the switch at the far end. There is no visibility of the link speed at the VM level.

  • Oracle 11g and iSeries ODBC 32/64bit version???

    Hi folks,
    I've some questions....
I need setup a new server with Oracle db 11g and from this db i need setup a DBLINK to an IBM iSeries (AS/400) server. I've some doubts about the 32/64 bit version to use.
    My idea is:
    Oracle Linux 64bit
    Oracle Database 11g 64bit
    Oracle Gateway 11g 64bit
IBM i Access ODBC driver 64bit ( maybe 7.1 version?!?!?!)
Do you think I'll be able to achieve my goal with this configuration?
Else where can you suggest me a valid and wonrking configuration?
    Thank you very much!!!!
    bye bye

    Emilio,
That combination of products should work, as long as the ODBC driver is 64-bit and satisfies the ODBC driver criteria listed in the documentation.
If you have access to My Oracle Support have a look at this note -
Note.561033.1 How to Setup DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX)

  • Install Oracle 10g on windows 2008 Server 64bit

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 64bit . I read one post below it says , windows 2008 is not certified for oracle 10g ..
    windows server 2008 Oracle 10G 64 bit
before I installed 32bit , it is throwing error message on alert log file on every 5 seconds.
"OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
    O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. ! "
if it is possible which version I want to download is best ..
and what is the recommendation whether it is 10g or 11g

You mean to say Oracle 10g 64bit will not work in Windows 2008..?No, i meaned the post you linked was written in year 2008, in that year it's was a unsupported platform for that oracle version. Actually its supported and you can install it.
Furthermore like Aman told you, It's more recommended install 11gR2 version

I get the following error when I'm trying to run Oracle client 10.2 x86 32bit on a redhat enterprise 5 64 bit. My understanding is that I can install client 32 on a 64 bit server. How can I make this work without getting 64bit client?

    >
Your 64-bit OS will need to be 32-bit compatible, and that is not always guaranteed; Does it support both binaries?
I would strongly recommend that you download the 64-bit Client software; it should work just fine. Do you mind sharing with us why you do not wish to install the 64-bit Client software?

  • Installation of  Oracle 10g Developer Suit on W2k8 64bit Fail

    Hi Team,
I installed oracle 10gR2 Database on windows 2008 64 bits. Now I am trying to install 10g Developer Suit on W2k8 64bit, following errors message is occured while installation.
javaw.exe - Entry point Not Found
"The Procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic lilabary PSAPI.dll"
Please suggest me how to installed Oracle 10g Developer Suit on windows server 2008 64 bits.
    Thanks in Advance
    Sandeep Mhaske.

I don't know what it could be, but I have another question: why are you installing DevSuite on a server? DevSuite is for the developers and should be installed on a client, not a server. Maybe that is the problem.

  • Oracle 10.2 on Windows 2008R2 64bit

    Hello,
I obtained IDES installation DVDs from SAP. I wanted to start installation, so first step was Oracle database. The problem is that SAP gave me DVD from 2006 with Oracle 10.2. There are three architectures available and noone wants to cooperate with my Windows. How to resolve this?
    My CPU / architecture:
    - Inter Xeon X3440 2.53GHz   /   Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64bit
    Installation DVDs:
    - 51031678 - Oracle 10.2 RDBMS
    - 51036971 - Oracle 10.2 RDBMS Patch 10.2.0.4
    - 51036975 - Oracle 10.2.0.4 Failsafe Server 3.4.1.5
    - 51031687 - Oracle 10.2 64bit Documentation Library
    - 51039412 - Oracle 10.2.0.4 Client V5
I tried 51031678 - Oracle 10.2 RDBMS but always I've got this error:
Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2 . Actual 6.1
Any clues? I think I need Oracle 10.2.0.4 but how to get it? Should I install Failsafe server or what?
    thanks in advance
