Is there any utility or process to extract this information from dump file.

However, I just open the file using a simple text editor (I use vi) and look at the date on about the 10th line of the file. Just don't save ... -

Oracle 10g Data Dump---Import to different users
Hi everybody,
I exported data in oracle 10g using expdp in user schema(abc1).
Now i want to import that data in different user schema (abc2) and another user schema (abc3). Both schemas (abc2 and abc3) are in same tablespace.
How to do this. Shall i need to export that data in SYSTEM mode to import for different users..?
Thanks in advance
PalShall i need to export that data in SYSTEM mode to import for different users..?No need. You can use REMAP_SCHEMA option on import, e.g.
impdp system/<password> directory=<directory> dumpfile=<dumpfile> remap_schema=abc1:abc2

Oracle Client 10.1.0.2.0 Core Dumps
I have a strange problem where I intermittently receive Oracle client core dumps. I am running version 6 of the WebSphere Message Broker, which communicates with a remote Oracle database. I am using DataDirect to connect to the database and am running the following Oracle versions:
Client: 10.1.0.2.0
Database: 10.1.0.5.0 64 bit
The following is an excerpt from the broker’s .odbc.ini file:
[OTDAWMB]
Driver=/opt/IBM/mqsi/6.0/merant/lib/UKor820.so
Description=DataDirect 5.0 Oracle
EnableDescribeParam=1
OptimizePrepare=1
ServerName=DTHU
WorkArounds=536870912
ProcedureRetResults=1
ColumnSizeAsCharacter=1
Here’s the problem:
We submit batch loads where 50,000 messages are put on a queue. Each message processed by the broker involves multiple database inquiries and insert statements. On average we process 10 messages / second which means we’re constantly hitting the database for over an hour. On occasion, we receive a core dump from the broker which points to an Oracle library. The following is an excerpt from the broker’s abend file:

This can happen at any time and can happen multiple times throughout the load. IBM says it’s a problem with the Oracle client (ILLEGAL INSTRUCTION) and there’s nothing that can be done from their end.
Has anyone run across something similar? Could this be network related?From dump message, looks like your client are calling whole banch of 32bit library. Are your application server also 64 bit ? Can you try install a 64bit client?
It's also a good idea to patch up your client a bit.
You should also consider submit a SR on metalink. -
Help - Oracle 8.1.5 service is shutdown by itself
Hi All,
I'm new to oracle.
In my office, we're using oracle 8.1.5, the problem now is the services (under NT 4) sometimes can shutdown by itself. If I check the NT services, it shows that the oracle service is still running. But I can't connect to the database using sql plus, error is instance is shutdown. All I can do up to now is restart the services (Listener and Oracle instance).
What should I do to avoid this problem?
TIA
-AndiHi,
Below is the information from orclALRT.log:
There's a write/open error. At July 21, 21:00PM our backup is start to run.
Is it because the backup software locked some oracle's files ?
But after the error, the next morning July 22 the ORACLE instance is started with no error, even though user can't connect to the database.
TIA
Andi

Oracle not Available, Shared Memory realm doesn't exist
Hi,
I have problem during XE installation on Windows 2003 R2 SP 2 Enterprise edition. I have uninstall the oracle xe and the result still the same. Finally I uninstall the windows and start all over again, surprisingly the result still the same. FYI, we normally has no issue during installation because this is part of our system we sell to our customer which require oracle xe. This is the first time we have seen this issue.
ORA-01034 : Oracle Not available
ORA-27101 : Shared memory realm doesn't exist.
Oracle XE and listener services is started in the windows services.
if we try to do startup the following message occured.
SQL> connect /as sysdba
Connected to an idle instance.
SQL> startup
ORA-44412: XE edition memory parameter invalid or not specified
SQL>
I can send you the oracle_xe log, init ora, and OpsBuildAll.log to create the database.
When we compare with the working installation, we saw that the size of oraclexe folder is less, it's just 233MB while the working one is over 1GB. After investigation, found out that the .dbf files is not avaiable in the oradata folder, i have tried to copy those files from the working one but the problem stay the same, probably there are a lot of files more missing.
Appreciate your help on this.
Thanks,

I have just installed 8.1.5 on RH6.2 over the last weekend and it works quite beautifully. Untar the jre bundle into /usr/local and make a softlink to /usr/local/jre.

Error during installation phase when upgrading from oracle 10 to 11g
hi,
We have going to upgrade oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3 in SAP ECC 6.4(DB:oracle, OS:AIX6.1). By mistake I run RUNINSTALLER from wrong path oracle/stage/11203 <dump folder>/database instead of SAP folder.it gives some error message during installation but i continue to installation and installation is completed.
now i worried about error and and wrong path selection, i removed manually new oracle home folder 112_64 and continue to new installation from proper path but now i am getting below error when running RUNINSTALLER from SAP folder
"[INS-10008] Session Initialization failed".and log are as

Oracle Database export and Import compression proportion
Dear ALL,
I have oracle 8i Exp dump file of 10gigs from Production database. For import it to development database, how much spare physical space is required to have on the dev machine ?
Is there a compression proportion defind with each oracle version using exp or expdp utility ?
Kindly help me understand. I tried to google but fail to see any firm reply.

The compress parameter of export doesn't work the way most think about it. Have a read,

iH:
There was another post on this topic, but the answer was vague.
I have an Oracle 8 database dump file (a DMP). I would like to import (a subset of) this dump file into my Oracle 8i LITE database.
Is this possible? I don't have access right now to an Oracle8(i) server, so I can't use the Oracle 8 Navigator to cut and paste the data that I need from the dump file ...
When I run imp80.exe (which was installed by the Oracle Lite installer) I get the message:
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 942 encountered
OCA-30034: table not found
[POL-5130] table or view not found
IMP-00021: operating system error - error code (dec 2, hex 0x2)
IMP-00023: Import views not installed, please notify your DBA
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
So is imp80.exe supported by Oracle LITE or not?

nullBefore you can import/export, you need to run the SQL catexp.sql from the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory.

Fate of Oracle Application Server? Is it going to be obsolete?
Hi all,
What is the fate of Oracle Application Server? Is Oracle going to dump or obsolete it ? Or it will coexist along with WebLogic?
Many thanks.
OmerOracle Application Server is a suit of products which includes Oracle HTTP Server, Web Cache, Discoverer, Forms & Reports, Portal, SOA, OiD etc. In the FMW11g release, the Java container (OC4J) has been replaced by the WebLogic engine. I would not say Oracle Application Server is obsoleted :-)
