Dear All
I have the same problem when installing Oracle9iasR2 on a windows 2000 IBM server
At the database configuration Assistant of the infrastructutre installation I am always getting this strange message Not a ZIP file (End Header Not found).
We have tried a lot off scenarios to install Oracle9iasr2 but the installation always fails at the database creation with the followning message

Then the whole installation fails .
If anyone has ever faced the same problem and had solved it please advice.

Oracle 10g release 2 installation problem on XP
Hi
I have some strange problems during installing oracle on my windows xp system.
Everything goes fine until the DB configuration assistant starts to perform its tasks.
The error is 'ORA-01919 XDBADMIN role does not exist'. I`ve searched the web but found nothing which could solve my problem. I think that the problem appears because of some security policy problems. Before installation i had created logon ID oracledba and assigned it to ora_dba group , later i had added the log as batch job priviledge to the oracledba. Please help if You know what may be a reason of my problems.
Regards
t.o.Hello
Thanks for response. In both cases the problem is the same. It appears during instance creation. First XDBADMIN role doesn`t exist , then some error about unsufficient priviledges(there are proper usesr in usergroups attached ). I also tried to install it by deleting loopback adapter , disconnecting the computer from the network etc. Every attempt was failure. I`ve noticed that during prereq. check i get an error about service packs, error code OUI-15038 which is telling to install recommended service back because there is exception on string 'Pac'. I don`t understand it because I have an XP sp2 with lastest upgrades & service packs.
p.s.
please forgive me my english, it isn`t my native language. -
Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)
First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
(Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w, deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
and
then
I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)" from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
The values I filled for
1) Global Database Name : orcl
2) System Identifier : orcl
3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
Username : sys/ as sysdba
Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
After this you are ready to write your first SQL command. Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.

Oracle 11g Release 2 - installation how to
Hi,

I probably should not be surprised but to recap some of what your presentation noted ... it sounds like 11.2 was pushed out quickly and the linux version is missing fixes that oracle knows should have been included in the base release? From my point of view this is fact. 11g Release 2 was released primary due to marketing reasons. The release of the final and public version took place only two weeks after beta 2 was released.
Beta 2 was quite stable; altough the real productive testing starts now where many users test this release with lots of data. Because of this i stated to wait at least until the first patchset
(which will raise the version to 11.2.0.2.0) before going productive. Until now it is for testing and preparing for migration. But thats my opinion. If anybody uses 11g Release 2 in production
i would like to share experiences.
Some of the postings that I saw on the web specifically noted 11.2.0.2 on some of the software versions ( maybe these were from beta's ? ) so it sounds like there is already perhaps a bunch of maintenance that should be on I have not seen 11.2.0.2.0 yet. My personal tip is the first patchset will be release beginning next year...

Oracle BI SE One Installation problem - Please help
Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle BISE1 on a virtual machine having a Win Server 2003 (32 bit) OS. In the last step...I got stuck with the installation of Configuration Assistant and the error which I got was:
Command = C:\oracle\bise1\db\install\bise1config.bat has failed
Execution Error : BISE1 Configuration Assistant failed
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

at oracle.as.config.bise1.BISE1ConfigAssistant.main(BISE1ConfigAssistant.java:76)
Then in one of the similar previous post I read that this problem could be solved by giving administrative privileges to the file "E:\oracle\bise1b\db\install\bise1config.bat"
[Previous Post for the same problem - http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=955418&tstart=60 ]
I did that and hit the retry button. But this time I am getting a different error as follows :-
The Oracle system identifier(SID) "bise1db" already exists.
Specify another SID
I guess this is my 4-5 attempt in the last one month. I have been unsuccessful in all my attempts so far. Kindly help at the earliest.
Thanks.
Edited by: user8918282 on Apr 22, 2010 3:14 PMThis behaviour is due to known bug in patch detection algorithm which has been fixed in MU1 release.
You have two options: you can either download S1AS7 MU1 release which contains fix for this problem or you can use following workaround: temporarily rename /usr/bin/showrev file and start installation. Installer will report that it cannot detect patch level of the system, but it will let you proceed with installation. Once installation is done, revert showrev file to the original name.

Oracle 8.1.7 installation problem on HP-UX
Here is my set-up:
#uname -a
HP-UX hostname B.11.11 U 9000/810
#getconf KERNEL_BITS

Problem:
I am installing Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition using Typical
Installation Type.
At the 73% progress bar status, the installation process gets
stuck. The installActions.log has the ff:
Starting install install Phase 1 of component Oracle Advanced
Security
Starting install install Phase 1 of component Oracle Starter
Database
Calling action file Actions 1.7.1.7.0 final Cluster Setup
selected Nodes =
threads Active = 2
vector Initial Size = 50
vector Factor Size = 25
On the Oracle Universal Installer GUI, I have the ff:
Installing Oracle Starter Database 8.1.7.0.0
Link pending...
Copying README_aso.txt
The process gets stuck at 73% and doesn't progress from there.
Any suggestions/patches needed? How can I prevent the Oracle
Starter Database from installing? Is this an option?
Thank you.Intel says there is a bug in oracle's OUI as well other swing based programs. The solution is to copy the CD to local drive and add -nojit as first parameter to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS e.g. JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS="-nojit -mx32m"
This will enable OUI to run. Even after installing oracle Net80 conf. asst won't start due to same reason.
Go to HOME\admin\tools\ and edit netca.cl and netasst.cl to add same -nojit before -classpath.
Do this for every tool that gives this prob such DBA studio...

Personal Oracle 8.1.5, Installation Problem
I installed Personal Oracle (Windows NT)8.1.5 and
I installed Oracle Client 8.1.6
Personal Oracle (main database: ZEUS) works fine! only if I am at network.
As soon as I undock my laptop, personal Oracle does not allow me to get connection through sqlplus.
I checked listeners:
File:D:\Oracle\Ora81\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora
ZEUS =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = sashb)(PORT = 1521))
(PROTOCOL_STACK =
(PRESENTATION = TTC)
(SESSION = NS)
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
(PROTOCOL_STACK =
(PRESENTATION = TTC)
(SESSION = NS)
seems they are fine. sql.ora - looks like fine as well!
File: D:\Oracle\Ora81\NETWORK\ADMIN\sqlnet.ora
SQLNET.CLIENT_REGISTRATION = sashb
NAMES.PREFERRED_SERVERS =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = sashb)(PORT = 1521))
configuration file ... find!
Configuration File:D:\Oracle\Ora81\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora
ZEUS.LAN.MIL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = SASHB)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = ZEUS)
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA.LAN.MIL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
The question is very simple, why the personal Oracle works inside network, and it does not work if I undock my system?
If I need to make any changes, what changes must be done?
It is window NT, Service pack 5.
Personal Oracle installed with default settings at D: drive, with default directory settings.
PS.
I tryed to shutdown database, listeners, and startup listeners, and after this database--did not help. I check registry... seems fine.
What is missed?
Thank you very much.

Oracle Developer 6.0 installation problem..
While in the process of installing Oracle Developer 6.0, using Oracle Installer 3.3.1.0c, the installer indicates that the intsallation can not go on since there are Oracle services running and that I have to stop all Oracle services or applications to proceed. The installer suggests that I use NT service manager to stop all Oracle services. That is exactly what I did and still the installer insists that there are still Orcale servcies related to "Required support files" running. What do you think the problem is? I have successfully installed Oracle 8, Enterprise Edition on this same machine on which I am trying to install Developer.
There are other services that may cause you trouble.
I have had to turn off SMTP and DHCP services in the past. -

What does this mean? Do you think this may contain the clue to the answer to this problem?
When I restart the Database I get the same status: unavailable.
