Oracle 9i SE One

I've read an article about this oracle version. Is it free for download for evaluation purposes?

10g Standard Edition One is just Oracle Standard Edition with a different license. Both the Enterprise and Standard editions of the database are available for download from OTN (there is a "Download" link above).
There was no Standard Edition One in 9i.

  • Parallelism in oracle using only one dual-core processor

Hi, is usefull or could i use parallel execution in oracle using only one dual core processor?
    Can someone explain me why?

    Hi
To take advantage of parallel processing you need enough resources (mainly CPU and I/O). If you run serially and the bottleneck is the CPU, then parallel processing might help. On the contrary, if the bottleneck is located in the I/O sub-system, throwing more CPU to it would not make things better. So, it's a question of balance between the CPU and I/O resources you have.

  • Two Oracle databases on one AIX Server - Note working, Pls Help

    Dear Friends,
I have installed Two SAP systems with Two Oracle Databases on one AIX machine, The Installation of both the systems went fine without any errors, and also i have been able to login to both the systems seperately. (that means i cant start both the systems at a time, its one at a time)
But the problem is of the Oracle Listener, i am not able to start both the systems with single Oracle Listener processes(tnslistener). I tried all the possible scenarios as mentioned in note 98252 but nothing seems to be of any use so far.
the thing is i can start either one of the SAP Systems, But my objective is to start both the SAP Systems with one listener processes (LISTENER) and one listener port (1527)
    Or
you can say i am also ready to keep two different listeners for TWO seperate Oracle databases, I tried doing so as per one of the sap notes in which you have to keep different names of listener and different numbers for listener port for second ORACLE database. I tried doing exactly mentioned in the note but yet unsuccessful...
Now i am completely lost as what is to be done since its critical i want you to immediately look into it and suggest me the appropriate solution so that i can set up both of my DEVELOPMENT and QUALITY system running...
To troubleshoot this if you require anything from my side then please feel free to ask me since our functional consultants have to soon start working on the SAP systems.
    Regards
    Ayush

The note you specified talk about 2 database instances not 2 databases... (I was starting to wonder how you deploy 2 databases), you can have multiple database instances on a DB. The note also give you detailed explanation of the configuration of listener.ora
Now, if this is the case and you have installed 2 instances (not databases) on the same host and configured the listener according to the note, then you should be able to call R3trans -d from both SID's.. if the R3trans fails please post the contents of trans.log here.
the thing is i can start either one of the SAP Systems, But my objective is to start both the SAP Systems with one listener processes (LISTENER) and one listener port (1527)
Then, the configuration of your listener.ora file must be incorrect.

  • Oracle 10g Standard One

I want to clear out some issue abt Oracle 10g Standard One and Partitioning. On the internet I have found that one of the Oracle Enterprise Edition Features not available in Oracle Standard Edition One is:
Oracle partitioning - For database over 100 gigabytes
Can someone confirm this? Does it actually mean that there is actually PARTITIONING in Oracle10g Standard One if the database is less than 100GB ?
    thanks

I don't believe partitioning is available in the standard edition (or in Standard Edition One). The comment you refer to is likely explaining the sort of databases that might benefit from partitioning-- there aren't a lot of folks that would want to partition database tables if the database was only a few GB in size.

  • Could not load file or assembly "Oracle.DataAccess" or one of its dependencies

    Hi All,
I am trying to run this web application. I keep getting this error
"Could not load file or assembly "Oracle.DataAccess" or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."
Exception details: System.BadImageFormatException. "Could not load file or assembly "Oracle.DataAccess" or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."
Below are the things that I already tried.
    1) replaced all the oracle dll's with 32 bit oracle dll i.e 2.112.3.0
I have 32 bit client installed on 64 bit machine. The operating system is windows 7.
    2) compile each individual project individually. Deleted all the oracle dependent files dll and then added the 2.112.3.0 dll's individually and then compiled each project
    3) Register the 32 bit dll on GAC using this statement
    gacutil /i %ORA_HOME4%\odp.net\bin\4\Oracle.DataAccess.dll
    gacutil /i %ORA_HOME4%\asp.net\bin\4\oracle.web.dll
    for the above two statements, I copied the gacutil.exe from c:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft sdk\windows\v7.0A\Bin\NETFX4.0 Tools\X64
    to C:\ drive and then
I executed the above two statement:
    gacutil /i %ORA_HOME4%\odp.net\bin\4\Oracle.DataAccess.dll
    gacutil /i %ORA_HOME4%\asp.net\bin\4\oracle.web.dll
when I excecuted the above two statements, I didn't get any message, I exceuted them in Dos windows under administrator privilege.
    4) I also deleted all the Temporary ASP.net files from this location
    c:\windows\Microsoft.Net\V4.0.30319\temporary ASP.net files
I also changed the web application build Platform target to X86, Originally, it was at "ANy CPU". out of frustration, I also tried changing the platform target to X64 and then I got the error message saying
" Cold not load file or assemble . webapp" or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
I don't have IIS installed on my computer, I am running this application in visual studio 2010 so I think it will be using the inbuild IIS that comes with visual studio.
I spend lot of hours resolving this issue, but still getting the same error again and again.
any help or hint will be highly appreciated.

You have a 32/64bit mismatch going on.
Possibly the bit where you said you replaced the .dll's with 32 bit Oracle dll's is the source of the problem.
You needs that Oracle.DataAccess managed wrapper to be able to locate the underlying oci client dlls of the appropriate version.
The ODP .net install guide is very very good and thorough and straight forward to read and use and understand and explains how to achieve this.
Also what is the target compile type of your VS project? That'll have to be 32 bit, or any as well.

  • File or assembly name Oracle.DataAccess, or one of its dependencies

    Hi,
I am trying to transfer my application which i am using ODP.NET and ASP.NET on the production server and i land up getting this error
'File or assembly name Oracle.DataAccess, or one of its dependencies, was not found.'
What are the possible things which I missed out installing on the production server. I did install the Beta version of ODP.NET, which is currently online on the download page.
i did change the permission settings in oci.dll file for the group 'users'
there is .net framework already installed
    there is oracle9i Client installed
is there anything else that i have to do, to get the application working on the production server .. it works fine on my localhost.
    Thank You
    Shahram

First, I would caution using any beta software for your production environment.
Prior to installing the beta, you must have the Oracle9i Release 2 Client (9.2.0.1.0 or higher) already installed. From your description, it sounds like you are only installing the beta.

  • File or assembly name Oracle.DataAccess, or one of its dependencies not fnd

I need to install my old batch programs (using VB.NET 2003) onto a new server.
I had the DBA install Oracle Client and ODP.NET on this machine. I installed the batch job onto this new server and when I try and test the program, I get the above error:
File or assembly name Oracle.DataAccess, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
I notice that the Oracle.DataAccess DLL is located at:
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\odp.net\bin\1.x (version 1.102.2.20)
    and another instance at:
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\odp.net\bin\2.x (version 2.102.2.20)
I notice that if I go to the PATH entry on Environment Variables (Control Panel - System - Advanced Tab - Environment Variables - Path), I see that the path is:
    D:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\Client_1\Bin
Should these be the same? Should the path entry match where the Oracle.DataAccess DLL is actually located? But which one? The 2.x one or the 1.x one.
I notice on the old server (which has Oracle 9.2.0 installed),
Oracle.DataAccess DLL is located at D:\Oracle\9.2.0\Bin - not all the way down in the odp.net bin.
Should the DLL be moved up to the bin folder above ODP.Net?
    Thanks and regards
    Sean

You should not move things around. The OUI puts them in the right place.
As of 10.2.0.2.20, ODP has a new directory structure in order to be able to support both 1.x and 2.x ODP.
As of 10.2.0.2.20, ODP no longer relies on your PATH environment variable, but instead uses DLLPATH registry setting to determine where the dependency dlls will be loaded, so you don't need to worry about the PATH environment variable.
With respect to the 'assembly or dependencies not found' behavior, tools like Process Explorer and Process Monitor (http://sysinternals.com) will allow you to look and see what DLLs got loaded (or failed to load) and from where.
What version of .NET framework, and what version of ODP, was the app initially compiled with? You're just moving the exe, without recompiling and such right? You didnt bring along the 9.2 ODP when you deployed to the new box did you? 10.2.0.2.20 ODP installs policy files in the GAC that should automatically redirect apps looking for older versions to that version.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Oracle DB Standard One

    Hello,
Need information on the Oracle DB Standard One installation.
I have installed Oracle 10g r2 Standard verion on HP unix IA OS.
Our customer has licence for Standard One.
Please help me to clear my doubt, is Standard Edition installation is ok for
    Standard One ?
    Best Regards,
    Deep

    (See caveat at end)
There is no difference between the Standard and Standard One install. Indeed, the Standard One does not appear on the install menu.
Standard One is more of a license issue - the way I like to understand it: it is Standard with the restriction that you will not use the RAC part, and you will llimit it to 2 CPU. Read other limitations in the Licensing doc at http://tahiti.oracle.com
As always, with licensing, the only real source of information is Oracle itself. Contact your favorite Oracle Sales team for a document describing the rules and limitations. Remember that in a legal situation, a judge would not be happy with an answer "I read it on the internet" or "I heard it happened to a friend of a friend of mine"

  • Extending Oracle BI SE One domain to support Oracle OSB

    Hello,
does anybody know whether it is possible to extend Oracle BI SE One domain to support Oracle OSB?
I haven't found any note, nor blog where it is mentioned or if somebody has ever tried it.
    Thanks!

If you have a weblogic domain any BI components configured then you cannot use this domain to extend any other BI component. However you can use the same domain to extend with any other non BI Oracle product.

Thanks in advance.Just like any scripting .. same commands you would issue at a command line .. put them in a script file. Unfortuanately, Windows, among it's various scripting limitations (vis a vis *nix) does not all the kind of input redirection needed to do it in a single file.
    Solution is something like this:
    echo shutdown immedate > shutdown.sql
    echo exit >> shutdown.sql
    sqlplus / as sysdba @ shutdown.sql
    del shutdown.sql
exitput that in a .cmd file. schedule .cmd file
