Oracle 9i (SE) Solaris 9 (DB Health check)

Hi Guys,
I want to compile a list that I can use for my Database health check. What are the things that I should add in this list which are very important. (pro active dba)
Thank you.

Not specific to your configuration but refer Metalink note      122669.1 in this regard.

  • Oracle Applications health check

    Hi,
    I have to
    1). Do health check of oracle applications 11.5.9
    2). And recommend to upgrade to R12.
    I always have these questions in mind. If a client is running happily on 11.5.9, what should be provided so the client will be convinced to upgrade to R12 (Apart from new features, security, performance).
    How to do health check (what all to check for).
    Kindly please suggest,
    Regards

If possible you can share this information wiht your client:

  • Oracle Database Audit Health Check

    Hi Experts,
    I have been looking for checklist to perform the oracle database audit.
    what is the best practise to perfrom the database audit health check.
    Regards
    Mohammed. Abdul Muqeet

    Hi,
    What is it mean for Health Check, You mean you have audit enable in your database and you want to manage it. if so
    then you have to take care of Audit area at OS level and sys/aud$ table
    for Audit Area: you can schedule a job to clear that are time to time
    for sys.aud$: Move this table to non- system tablespace and moniter the uage. can purge the data if not required after taking the backup..

  • Graphical Reports for Database Health Check or Database Statictics

    Hello
    we are using oracle 10g on Solaris.
    Is there a way I can get the Database health check or database statictics report in graphical form like to represent the growth of database (in a week or month), log size etc..
    Thanks

    You'll have to develop your own method/application/script as per your requirement. To some extent Enterprise manager may help you but I think this is not your requirement.

    #### HOW to solve it.
    ## To check the default temporary tablespace of the database:
    SQL> select property_name, property_value from database_properties;
    ## check DEFAULT_TEMP_TABLESPACE, if it use wrong temporary tablespace, run:
    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp;
    ## check user with temporary tablespace, run command:
    SQL> select username, temporary_tablespace, account_status from dba_users;
    ## change temporary tablespace:
    SQL> create temporary tablespace temp1 tempfile '/data/u01/app/oracle/oradata/TIS/temp_b.dbf' size 100m;
    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp1;
    SQL> drop tablespace temp including contents and datafiles;
    SQL> create temporary tablespace temp tempfile '/data/u01/app/oracle/oradata/TIS/temp01.dbf' size 100m autoextend off extent management local uniform size 1m;
    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp;

  • Oracle 10g on Solaris 5.10 x86

    Hi,
    I just tried installing oracle 10g(10.2.0.1) on my new machine(Sun solaris 10 x86) Intel 915 GAG with 512 RAM and 120GB SATA drive.
    After I started running ./runInstaller the following message came on console......
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be 5.6 , 5.7 ,5.8 or 5.9. Actual 5.10
    Failed <<
    I think , if Oracle 10g is not yet certified to run on solaris 10x86.
    Please help me to proceed.
    Regards
    Deepak

    you have to try this:
    start ./runInstaller with option -ignoreSysPrereqs;
    you have also to choose: 'Do not create a starter database' by intallation;
    I think this will help you.

  • Installation of Oracle 10g in Solaris 10 zones

    Hi Everybody,
    Is there any Documentation for Installation of Oracle 10g in Solaris 10 Zones.
    I am having multiple zones shared by one common SAN Storage.
    I want to install oracle 10g in one of the particular local zone.
    Regards,
    Prosenjit Mukherjee.

    Last time I looked at metalink the documentation said zones and containers were not supported. That may no longer be true so you should check there first.

  • Health Check on 11.5.9

    Hi Friends,
    I want to do Health check on my E-Business suite 11.5.9(both Database and Application) please suggest how to do?
    Regards,
    Arun

    Hi,
    Hi Arun,
    You can refer the following ML doc,
    [Oracle Application Object Library Best Practices: E-Business Suite Diagnostic Tests Health Check Test|https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=471667.1]
    Thanks,
    Anchorage :)Do NOT use this document and install the script since it is for R12 (you are on 11.5.9).

  • Oracle Rac on Solaris Containers

    We are planning to implement Oracle 11G RAC on Solaris 10 using non-global zone. RAC is now officially certified on Solaris containers.
    But we are still investigating whether zone Cluster (Using Solaris Cluster) is the prerequisite to have Oracle RAC on Solaris non-global zone.
    This oracle document *(Supported Virtualization and Partitioning Technologies for Oracle Database and RAC Product Releases [ID 1173831.1])* stated that:
    _"*Oracle Solaris Containers are supported with Oracle RAC 10gR2 and 11gR1 (with Oracle Solaris Cluster on SPARC64). Solaris version 10 Update 7 or later (patches 141444-09, 143055-01, 142900-06, 143137-04 "md patch") with Oracle Solaris Cluster 3.3 and 3.2u2 patched to 126106-39 or later."*_
    Does it mean that Oracle RAC is supported on Solaris Container only with Solaris Cluster?
    In other word does Oracle RAC is supported on Solaris Non-Global zones without using Solaris Cluster?

    It was my understanding too. Do you have any source document where it is specifically noted that solaris cluster(Zone Cluster) is needed for RAC?
    Please check this document www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/systems-hardware-architecture/deploying-rac-in-containers-168438.pdf, nowhere it is said that Solaris Cluster is needed.

    I have checked this site and i also downloaded the version 8.1.7 for solaris. when i try to run the ./runInstaller file it gives me a error as "Syntax error on line number 1" and returns back to $prompt. I was told that this is the version only for Sun Sparc Solaris. There is no 8i version for Solaris 8 on intel platform.
    Is that right ??.. or do U have some more information on that. probably anybody has tried that or so ??..
    Thanks
