Oracle 9i with Forms6i (having problems with objects)
I am using Oracle 9i server and dev 6i (forms6i).
i have a form based on Object tables (including REF's items). when i try to insert update, delete the reocrd in the form, it gives error.
Insert/Update/Delete failed because of OCI_22132: hexadecimal string does not corresopond to a valid REF.
when i remove REFs items from form (not from database) then it does all functions (insert,update,delete,query).
Actually i haved used this form with Oracle 8i and it did all functions(insert,update,delete,query). i am using the same tables and types definations in Oracle 9i but it is not working.
Note: Insert, Update, Delete, or Query is not being done through forms when using REFs items. Others tools like sql*plus are performing the same actions very well.

Not laughing here. This is a long shot, and I have almost no experience with database links, but could you maybe keep an 8.1.7 server running for the Forms 3 forms, and create database links and synonyms on the 8.1.7 server linking to the data on the 9.2 server?

Hello, I'm having problems initializing object for CNiFgen class, I declare a pointer *m_pFgen to the CNiFgen class, then m_pFgen = new CNiFgen(m_driver, true, true) and then it gives me an error message Primary Error: (Hex 0xBFFA000C) Invalid attribute.
Here is how to make a call to initialize a session to niFgen:

Restrictions with object types
Hello
Among other restrictions Oracle 8.1.7 does not support (1) change of definitions of types that have dependent data and (2)replication of object columns and object tables.
(1) While it is possible to add columns to existing relational tables and even change the size of columns it is not possible to do so with object types. This may expose a significant limitation for schema migration and maintainance. Is there any other support for those requirements, any workarounds other than crafting table copy scripts from scratch?
(2) This seems to make a couple of good things in Oracle unavailable with objects. No fault tolerance through replication? No standby database? What (development and runtime efficient) options remain with objects in that category?
Do the limitations persist in Oracle 9i?
What about tool support in Oracle 9i? DBA Studio, for example, is rather poor in dealing with objects in 8.1.7 - no browsing and management of object schema and data, you cannot even select an existing object type for a table column.
Are there other restrictions one should be aware of before touching objects?
Any experiences and information greatly appreciated.

Do you have some specific applications that you have in mind to use Oracle Objects? Do you plan to use type evolution and replication?
Oracle9i Object-Relational Technology has reached a major milestone with several 'completeness' features. As Arvind pointed out, in Oracle9i, type evolution can propogate changes to dependents. Object replication is also supported in Oracle9i.
Although Enterprize Management tools do provide easy-to-use GUIs, there are some limitations in handling Objects, especially when there are nesting involved. Fortunately, SQL*Plus can be used to remedy some of these limitations.

Really having problems with organising documents in pages. For example, deleting pages deletes the whole section and I cannot insert a section break as its greyed out & sending an object to background deletes several pages and trying to insert a text box autmatically creates new pages- what the **** is going on??? Is this programme really this badly thought out? I thought everything apple was supposed to be intuitive!?!?!? Help.
You can not insert a section break into a textbox.
You appear to have a lot of objects with wrap set, that once you take them out of the flow of text (by sending them to the background) causes the text to reflow and contract into fewer pages. Pages is almost unique in the way it forms up pages in Word Processing mode only so long as there is text on them.
I suspect you probably have hammered away at returns, spaces and tabs as well to position things, which only works to add to the mess.

PS There is quite a lot of programming in OSX that is far from "intuitive". Pages is easy at one level, when using the templates, otherwise it can be quite frustrating. -
I?ve written an application to control a system with multiple lamps. Each lamp in the system has its own power supply. Each lamp object contains a reference to its power supply. The application contains an array with the references to all the lamps in the system. Each lamp is in charge of monitoring itself and setting its power supply?s voltage according to the applications commands, therefore each lamp needs that its ?run me? method will run as long as the application is running i.e. the run method has to be reentrant. Because there are multiple lamps and because the ?run me? methods for each lamp run simultaneously, to over come this problem each lamp has a met
hod ?run? that calls ?run me? with ?RUN VI? invoke node with the ?Wait until done? set to false. When I run the application, it seems to work but if I check the AO there is no change in the output, and the lamps seem to be reading their input from the same channel. I can?t seem to find the problem, I think that the fact that the method is reentrant causes some sort of mix-up in the separate object references. Also because the method is reentrant I can?t debug it (with one lamp it seems to work ok). Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem.

Topology having problem with 8307 SRID
Hi,
i am having an a small problem when i am creating topology with 8307 SRID.
first of all i loaded data into spatial with 82364 SRID and validated all my counties and created topology and its working fine. and showing me properly in mapbuilder
then same data i converted it to 8307 Longitude / latitude coordinate system and created topology the topology is created but when i view in mapbuilder its showing me not clean topology and when i zoom in zoom out its removing the color of faces and giving warning in mapbuilder Next edge (47) is null. Face (21) polygon discarded.

Oracle Portal 3.0 Beta - problem with connection
After finally getting a clean install of Oracle Portal 3.0 on Oracle 8.1.6 on Windows 2000, I am having problems connecting with the database when I try the PORTAL30 or PORTAL30_SSO URL. I get an error:
"Proxy Logon Failed - please verify you have specified correct connectivity in the DAD... Error Code 6401 - DATABASE LOGIN FAILED - TNS is unable to connect to destination. Invalid TNS address or destination not listening..."
The Oracle listener is up, the database is in the TNS names file on both Ora81 and OraPortal30 homes.
One thing I do know is that when I configure the DADs for a user/pswd and connect string, and enter the actual Oracle password, it returns with a long series of **************** for the password, which is must longer than the actual one.
I have hit a roadblock and would appreciate any support.UPDATE to the PROBLEM:
I tried everything and then I stumbled upon something. In the Net8 configuration assistant for Oracle 8i, when I went into Naming Methods configuration, it said that I was only using Local. I added Oracle Names and tried again... SAME ERROR. RRRRRGGGHH!!! I had no trouble using SQL*Plus so what was going on!??
Then I went to check the TNSNAMES.ORA in both the ORA8i and OraPortal30 network/admin directories. They were both exactly the same, with ORCLDEV1 (my sid) defined. Hmmm.... THEN, I looked in the directory and saw SQLNET.ORA. I compared the files in the two directories and they were DIFFERENT!!!
The one in Ora8i had a NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, LDAP, ONAMES, HOSTNAME).
The one in OraPortal30 had a NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (LDAP, ONAMES).
On a hunch, I changed the one in OraPortal30 to be the same as Ora8i.
Then, I went to http://bwood/pls/portal30 and VOILA!!! I got the main page. I then clicked on LOGIN and got the sign-on screen. It has been working so far!!!
I will continue to post the progress of this as we begin to convert an older OWS 2.1 application to Portal 3.0!!

My wife has been having problems with Safari, and many third party software and malware programs infecting her Mac Book Pro. I have tried to reset Safari but it keeps coming back, taking over Safari, changing defaults, start pages, and search engines, Etc.
Is it safe to use programs like MacKeeper, who keeps send my wife's computer message and alerts, or should I just wipe the drive and start over?

Still having problems with VPN access
Hello!
I am having problems with my VPN clients getting access to the networks over a MPLS infrastruture. I can reach these resources form my Core network (172.17.1.0/24) and my Wifi (172.17.100.0/24) but not from my VPN network (172.17.200.0/24). From the VPN I can reach the Wifi network (which is behind a router) and the rule that allows that also allows access to the other networks but for some reason it is not working.
When I ping inside the core network from VPN I can connect and get responses. When I ping to the Wifi network, I can get responses and connect to resources there. A tracert to the wifi network shows it hitting the core switch (a 3750 stack) @ 172.17.1.1, then the Wifi router (172.17.1.3) and then the host. A tracert to a resource on the MPLS network from the VPN shows a single entry (the destination host) and then 29 time outs but will not ping that resource nor connect.
I've posted all the info I can think of below. Any help appreciated.

Having problem with the printer with type "PDF Publisher"
Hi,
We are having problem with printing PDF reports with print style as "PDF Publishrer". The concurrent program errors out after it generates the report. But when we try that with style "PORTRAIT" then it prints successfully. We have tried with a number of printers and a number of reports. The results are same. So my understanding is it has something to do with the printer configuration from the EBS side.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Having problem with change of name in the datagrid Coding
I am having problem with changing the name of the datagrid header text name for one of the data either in the flash file or the php file.
The thing is i want to change the Course_Name to Course Name that has no underscore so that it will look nicer in the datagrid but if I change it in the php file like SELECT Course_Name as 'Course Name' ....., it will not turn out in the datagrid when I CTRL ENTER the flash file but the others like Price,description and display is shown.
There is no problem with my php code but I do not know how to change the Course_Name into Course Name so please help me resolve this error that I am having.

Problem with object view with primary-key based object identifier

I met such problem.
t1 is persinstent-capable class:
class t1 : public PObject { .... };
T1OV is object view, based on object table T1OT
I1 is primary key of the table T1OT.
Next code:
t1* t = new (conn, "T1OV") t1(...);
conn->commit();
try
t->markDelete();
conn->commit(); // exception throws here
Works fine if T1OV defined as:
create view t1ov of t1 with object identifier default
as select * from t1ot;
And throws an exception
"ORA-22883: object deletion failed"
if:
create view t1ov of t1 with object identifier (I1)
as select * from t1ot;
Such problem also occurs when object view is based on relational table/view (OID is primary-key based).
Also it occurs when
t->markModified() used insted of t->markDelete()

You can specify constraints on views and object views. You define the constraint at the view level using the out_of_line_constraint clause. You define the constraint as part of column or attribute specification using the inline_constraint clause after the appropriate alias.
Oracle does not enforce view constraints. However, operations on views are subject to the integrity constraints defined on the underlying base tables. This means that you can enforce constraints on views through constraints on base tables.
Restrictions on View Constraints
View constraints are a subset of table constraints and are subject to the following restrictions:
You can specify only unique, primary key, and foreign key constraints on views. However, you can define the view using the WITH CHECK OPTION clause, which is equivalent to specifying a check constraint for the view.
Because view constraints are not enforced directly, you cannot specify INITIALLY DEFERRED or DEFERRABLE.
View constraints are supported only in DISABLE NOVALIDATE mode. You must specify the keywords DISABLE NOVALIDATE when you declare the view constraint, and you cannot specify any other mode.
You cannot specify the using_index_clause, the exceptions_clause clause, or the ON DELETE clause of the references_clause.
You cannot define view constraints on attributes of an object column.

Can't upload to flickr from Aperture 3.5.1
