Oracle 9iAS end to end transaction measurement

Hi all,
Is OEM capable enough to handle end to end(e2e) transaction where e2e is defined as a transaction right from the time an end user requests using web client and that passes through AS module (cache, http server, SSO, Oracle ID , DB and back). Is this possible ? Where are the corresponding data stored ?
Thanks In Advance.

Hi Jason,
Yes, we have SAN storage. Also thinking to use split-mirror for production.
Do this need legato networker module. Or we can put a script without out the module also?
>>There is one little complexity to this but if you're interested I'll explain it. <<
Would you please explain what it is ?
Again for my dev and qa systems we are not planning split-mirror.
My plan is to back them up straight to VTL (disk based). Do you think using RMAN here helps (because of incremental) ?
I was recently going through 10g features. Looks like 10g has a feature that you can merge incremental with level0. Does brbackup supports this?
Appreciate your info.

  • Oracle Backup End to End Automation with BRBACKUP and RMAN

    Hi,
We are about to implement a Oracle on mySAP 2004 or 2004 i.e. either NW2004 or NW2004s. Currently we are on DB2 UDB.
We are going to use legato for backup.
legato networker module (I guess this is module built for BACKINT)  for SAP is too costly, so we are looking at alternatives for backup using legato without using networker module.
We have virtual tape library (disk that emulates as tape library). we plan to keep 30 days/versions of backup there.
Can we use BRBACKUP and RMAN to achieve end to end backup automation without using networker module by using the BRBACKUP delivered options and integrating to RMAN.
I do see BRBACKUP options like tape_box and pipe_box. Are these will be useful to achieve this.
Other question is do we really need to integrate with RMAN. What are the advantages.
So far I see the advantages with RMAN are 1. incremental backups. 2. Online backups are handled more consistently than normal.
    Appreciate your information.
    Thank you,
    Ravi Gandavarapu.

  • Anyone do end-to-end connection auditing w/  Oracle DB + EBiz apps ?

    Hi,
Connection auditing within the database is pretty simple, the sys.aud$ tables give all the info to see the end-to-end picture of:
    - users pc name / ip /port etc
    - users network id
    - target Oracle schema
    -etc
But when we add Oracle Applications into the picture, we have 2 other components: a) the application user b) the application server
It is possible to connect the database session to the application session.
But, I am having trouble with connecting the database session with the Oracle Application Server connection.
I have tried various settings in
    $IAS_CONFIG_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/security.conf
    SecAuditEngine On
    SecFilterDebugLevel 4
so that I could see the IP of the user pc, but for some reason the only IP info I get is for the host computer of the Application Server.
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thank you !

    Hi this is not possible....
What you did could only work if it was a homogeneous migration of the DB (So Oracle running on Server X moved to Server Y)
What you want is actually a hetrogenious migration and you cannot just reconnect.
    See https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/installnw70 and look for:
    System Copy
If you want to perform a homogeneous or heterogeneous copy of an existing SAP system based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0, use the following System Copy Procedures:
For EHP1 SR1: ABAP, ABAP + Java, or Java.
For EHP1: ABAP, ABAP + Java, or Java.
For SR3: ABAP, ABAP + Java, or Java.
For SR2: ABAP, ABAP + Java, or Java.
    Cheers,
    Benjamin

  • Ending a global transaction into WB

    Hi,
today when I tried ton connect to my OWB project through the client, I get the following error:
PRS-00322:internal error, started new global transaction without ending existing global transaction.
I suppose there would be an "appended" global transaction into a still open procedure/session. I tried to kill all open sessions from the enterprie manager, but the error still exists.
Does anyone has any suggestions about this, or knows how to solve it?
    Best regards,
    Alessandro

    have u tried this
    alter system session kill immediate""..
    else
login as sys and check status of OWB design user...see if that is locked
    or at last
if possible reboot the database server

Are you using an old database, like 8.1.5 or 8.1.6? If you cannot upgrade to 9i, here is the workaround.
In the mapViewerConfig.xml, add the following line to
    the <global_map_config> section:
    <performance no_unpickler="true" />
    So that it looks like:
    <global_map_config>
    <performance no_unpickler="true" />
    </global_map_config>
Then restart oc4j. By the way, you seem to be using oc4j
1.0.2.2, which is too old for mapviewer to work properly (but it is not the cause for the above issue). Please
upgrade to at lease oc4j 9.0.2.
    thanks,
    lj

  • Tuxedo to Oracle 9iAS via JMS

A client wants to connect a Tuxedo application to an Oracle 9iAS
application (Oracle was not my choice, forced into it by upper
management). Obviously this is already well handled with Weblogic, but
how about something non-BEA? I'm not a J2EE person, but someone said
JMS Connectors, and someone else said the Java Native Interface to JMS.
I see this as a Tuxedo question, how do I interface to JMS?
Suggestions? (getting Weblogic is not a valid answer. Oracle cut the
clients annual license by a $1 Million if they would use 9iAS for their
new projects instead of Weblogic. You do the math.)

    Hello Friends,
We are currently in the coding stage of a screen scraping application. But we are facing a serious problem, that might cause us to abandon this project altogather. We are supposed to screen scrape Oracle 9iAS based Oracle Forms, precisely speaking we have to trace the Msgboxes and Statusbar warnings, which are thrown at runtime during any transaction by the system.Could anyone help?

    Hi,
though this is not security related: You can use JavaBeans within a Bean Container in Oracle Forms. This allows you to add any Java you like to the Forms front end. However, you may have to dig a bit into the Forms client for this.

  • Oracle 9iAS Orion Server Crashes on Running RWSERVLET

We are developing a product with JSP as front end,EJB as middle tier and Oracle as DB.Oracle 9iAS is the deployment environment. We are using the RWSERVLET configuration. We have configured Orion to communicate with RWSERVLET.Rwservlet copied to web-inf/classes folder, entry given in web.xml accordingly. Two JAR files copied to lib folder. When the first request goes from client the report is getting displayed fine.
There is a delay in displaying the output of the request. If in case another request is sent from the same client before the first request is served by the reports server, the RWServlet makes the Orion of Oracle 9iAS to crash. The middle tier aborts with the following message..
    # HotSpot Virtual Machine Error, EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
    # Error ID: 4F533F57494E13120E43505002D4

    hello,
for your problem with the crash of OC4J, i would contact oracle support services.
if you set up the reports server database queues, it will mirror the server queue into a database table, where you can check what the status of your job is.

  • Oracle 9Ias installation on Linux 9.0

    Hi,
I am not able to install Oracle 9IAS on Linux 9.0, either it gives linking error like ins_oemagent.mk file also, while creating the database end-of-communication channel error.

Thanks a lot for looking in to this.
I am starting the reports server using the rwserver.sh file which calls the reports.sh before starting the server. Reports.sh sets the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, hence I donot think that is the issue.
As I said earlier, the rwEng engine is the culprit. It does not start up.
In the server trace, I get the state of the rwEng-0 to be Initial and that's it nothing after that about the rwEng engine.
In rweng trace, I see that it is able to init the orb, load librw90.so and start the cinitengine.
After that it I believe it should register the rwEng engine, which it doesnot no errors to this effect however.
As the rwEng has not started completely , the server is always in a starting up state (initializing), and any connect results in 50001.
Also, to ensure that there are no configuration issues, I loaded iDS 9.0.2 on linux. The reports server from the iDS starts without any hassles with the same conf file as of 9iAS.
Hence I am stuck where to look for problems.
    Please help.
    Thnx.

  • Oracle 9iAS R2 on Win 2k3

I was searching for OracleAS enterprise edition for
Win 2k3 but couldn't locate anything of use. So can I install Oracle 9iAS R2(NT/2000) or there is something available for Win2k3.
    regards & thanks,

Oracle 9i Application Server R2 was released back in 2001 if I am not mistaken. Solaris 10 was not around then so obviously there is no certification information. By the time Solaris 10 got released (January 31, 2005), 9i Application R2 was almost end of life (desupport date July 2005). For this reason, Oracle has never come around certifying Solaris 10 for 9.0.2.
Certain things may work but you will not be supported by Oracle Support.
    Hope this helps,
    EJ

    ERROR :

    2. There are only 30 objects with type JAVA CLASS are installed (instead of 334) mentioned on the troubleshooting guide
    3. Oracle9iASHttpService automatically stops after starting the service
    Environment :
    Windows 2000 Server
    Oracle 9i 9.0.1.1.1
    Oracle 9iAS 3.0.9.8.2 (Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2a)
PDK Services for Java version 3.0.9.0.4 (from Patch used to install 3.0.9.8.2)
    Patches 8.1.7.1.1, 8.1.7.1.5, 3.0.9.8.2
I installed the Oracle 9i, 9iAS, Portal and the patches based on the installation instructions (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/DOCUMENTATION/INSTALL_GUIDE_9I.PDF)
I tried adding the Sample Web Provider I got ORA-29531 error on HttpProviderDispatcher. Then I checked the Patch 8.1.7.1.1 installation, they are some scripts that need to be run that was not part of the 9i/9iAS installation instruction. I run the suggested scripts(catalog.sql, catproc.sql and utlrp.sql) and modified the jserv.properties to point the xsqlconfig.xml to ORACLE_HOME\oracore\admin.
The error still persisted. From the Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, one of the suggestion is to run the sql command :
    Select object_name, object_type, status from user_objects where object_name like '%HttpProvider%';
which resulted to an object with name '/3334f18_HttpProviderDispatche' without the 'r' at the end
    and
    Select count(object_name) from user_objects where object_type='JAVA CLASS';
which resulted to only 30 VALID object. According to the installation instruction, there are supposedly 334 objects.
I checked the object_name of the other JAVA CLASS objects, all the names of the objects are all less than 30 characters. It looks like that the objects with the object_name > 30 are truncated to 30 characters.
Then I rebooted the machine, when the machine went back on Oracle9iASHttpService stops automatically after it has been started.

I have posted question on that thread and there is no specific solution from our problem. From the Oracle PDK Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, it looks like there is a problem on the Oracle Portal installation. I tried recompiling the packages and my problem worsened. Now I cannot start the Oracle9iAS HTTP Service.

  • Oracle 9iAS on W2003?

    Hello all,
is Oracle 9iAS Enterprise Edition supported on W2003 Server? When will it be?
    Thanks

    Hi,
When you get that error, open another window and go to $ORACLE_HOME/bin. Open the file genclntsh and change the line LD_SELF_CONTAINED="-z defs" to
    LD_SELF_CONTAINED="".
Then, do ./genclntsh and wait until the job ends. You'll get a created...file...
After that, go back to the error window and hit retry. I should continue ok.
Remember to run the job as oracle and NOT as root.
