  • Is oracle 9i for Sun is free

    Hi,
    Is oracle 9i for Sun is free, or it is just free
    for limited amount of time.
    I have heard that actually Oracle product is free,
    but only the support is the actual licence.
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Viji

    No, as a member of OTN, you may download the software for personal/development use. The actual license for production or commerical use you have to pay for.
    Click on the downloads icon, select the software you want then read the license agreement very carefully.

  • 9iAS for Sun Solaris Intel?

    Will 9iAS be available for Sun Solaris Intel?
    Thanks,
    Shane

    Shane,
    Due to bandwidth/space limitations, there are no plans at this time to put the Intel Solaris version of 9iAS onto OTN.
    That said, the Intel Solaris version of 9i AS will be available through the following channels:
    1) Ordering directly from the oracle store at store.oracle.com, or via your local Oracle representative.
    2) If you have a previous version of iAS for intel solaris (with a support contract), you could request an upgrade via Oracle Worldwide support, and they will send you the software.
    Best Regards,
    Harry

  • Minimal compile & link files for sun sparc?

    hi.
    i have been developing an oci dir path project using redhat linux 7.3 (2.4.x.) & gcc 2.96. (see http://sourceforge.net/projects/odpd/) i am using a dev copy of ora9i release 9.2.0.1.0 installed on the linux dev machine. i would like to compile the project on a sun sparc box using sun's C++ compiler 5.3.
    so, i would like to get my hands on solaris versions of headers & libraries for #include & linking. i don't see any need to actually run the app against an installed version of ora9i under solaris; i just want to compile & link. further, i don't have root# access on target machine, so ora9i install isn't really an option.
    the target machine:
    $ uname -a
    $ SunOS nydev-app2 5.7 Generic_106541-23 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
    on the linux dev machine:
    $ ls -laF $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh*
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 oracle 16 Aug 31 2002 /u01/app/oracle/product/9.0.1/lib/libclntsh.so -> libclntsh.so.9.0*
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 oracle 9.8M Aug 31 2002 /u01/app/oracle/product/9.0.1/lib/libclntsh.so.9.0*
    if anyone can help me get relevant files for compile & link, please contact me: asdrury at sourceforge dot net.

    Go to http//otn.oracle.com. On the downloads menu select Oracle Instant Client.
    From the 'Instant Client Downloads' page you should be able to find IC packages to download for available platforms, e.g. Solaris SPARC 64-bit. (Latest version is 11.2.0.3.)

  • SAP Performance Problem with Oracle 10 on Sun SPARC T5240 server

    Dear Friends,
    We have a performance problem after migrating our SAP ERP 6.0 basis system. We moved to new servers a month ago.
    According to SAP EarlyWatchAlert Report, CPU response time is too high, altough CPU utilization is never more than 5%,
    The current system is :
    Database server : Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 Server - 2 CPU´s with 6 core, 8 thread, 1.2 Ghz 32 GB RAM
    and we use another identical configured server as an application server.
    Database is Oracle 10.2.0 and operating system is Solaris 10.
    The problem is average CPU response time is 450 ms, and max. CPU load is %5 percent.
    Pre-migration configuration with old servers, we had CPU response : 150 ms and max CPU load: 50%.
    Old configuration : 2 X HP rp3440, 2 X PA 8800 CPU (2 core, 1.0 GHz).
    Have you got any experience with a similar situation, which setting might be wrong for not fully utilizing server CPU´s?
    or do you know any similar configuration for benchmark?
    Thanks in advance
    Uzan

    Our organization upgraded an application - The vendor had originally suggested a T2000. When we finally migrated onto it, the performance was worse than the older version of the application. The vendor hadn't yet tested the combination of T2000 and 10.2 with their application when they had made that hardware recommendation, they subsequently revised their recommendations. We ended up with an M4000.
    The application performance, IMHO, still stinks. But that's because it's a java based application written for database independence.
    The interesting item to note here, is that in the application teams 'selective' testing - everything worked fine. When the testing was extended to include users who didn't follow the 'test plan', they found performance begin to tank. Then with more users, more testing, they found that the T2000 was not going to perform well. The test plan by the apps team was not sufficient to find the issues, and they did not include any load testing!

    File Scanning [Syslog] --> File Scan --> disk_error (for disk errors that Solaris can see in /var/adm/messages)

  • Need Oracle 8.1.5 for Sun SPARC Solaris

    I need this version of Oracle to use a vendor package that was developed and certified on this platform. Does anyone know where I can download this from? I cannot find it anywhere in the Oracle site.

    Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0 was in the sun solaris 8 distribution.

  • Configuring Oracle 9iAS for LDAP Authentication

    I have installed OID Server on my PC. Now I want to switch my Login Server to External LDAP Authentication mode. For that I run the script ssoldap.sql passing the host, port, search base, etc.. from my login server schema (portal30_sso) The script throws me the following error :
    " Bind variable "CN" not declared ".
    I even compile the package ssoxldap.pkb before that. But still this error persists.
    tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files are fine and the tnsping to the external procedure is also working properly.
    Can anyone help me in this.

    I got that problem solved. Its little bit funny solution. Instead of running the sql file using the File->open->ssoldap.sql, we should directly write the whole path i.e. @d:\oracle9i\portal30\admin\plsql\sso\ssoldap.sql
    And secondly, I also found one small change related to the installation manual. Its related to Adding entries to the LDAP Server. the manual shows this syntax:
    ldapadd -h i3dt111 -p 389 -D 'cn=orcladmin'
    -w welcome -f d:\oracle\admin\phd\udump\users.ldif
    but instead we shoud write this:
    ldapadd -h i3dt111 -p 389 -D cn=orcladmin
    -w welcome -f d:\oracle\admin\phd\udump\users.ldif
    . Just remove the single quotes in the username string.
    Anyways, thanks for your suggestions.

  • Oracle 9iAS for Forms on XP

    I am installing Oracle 9i Application Server form and Business Intelligence on Windows XP
    Professional Edition?
    Although there were no major hick ups during installion but the problem I am
    facing now is that when ever I run a form from the server and the form tries
    to query the database it throws Ora-03114 exception i.e. 'not connected to
    ORACLE'. There is no problem when I try connecting from the same
    username/password and server name to SQL Plus.
    I have added the following config in formsweb.cfg file.
    [SFM]
    width=1024
    height=745
    separateFrame=true
    form=ADM_LOGIN.fmx
    archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,demo90.jar
    userid=sfm_prod/sfm_prod@e2s
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    colorscheme=blue
    splashScreen=/SFMV2/images/SFMsplash.gif
    serverapp=/SFMV2/registry/sfm
    Note: When I used the function GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(CONNECT_STRING) in a Form it returns a null value, so does the
    GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(USER_NAME) and GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(PASSWORD)
    Thanks.
    Ali

    Does the Login prompt pop up when you removed the useid details from formsweb.cfg?
    It looks like you are not getting through user authentication. Try running it without the userid to see if it tries the connection at all.

  • Is fake utility program for sun sparc solaris 2.6 available.?

    Hai ,
    Fake is a IP address take over tool used in linux.
    "fake is a simple utility designed to enable the switching in of backup servers buy bringing up an additional interface and using arp spoofing to take over the ip address. Either additional physically or logical interfaces can be used."This is all about fake.
    I searched a lot to get fake utility for solaris 2.6.but i could't.
    Is any fake utility version for solaris .? or the same of its kinds.?
    Please help me
    Thank you
    Arun

    hai Alan,
    Let me specific on the problem.
    I developed a fail-over software for Linux servers(need 2 servers of same configuration). In this servers ,there are two modes , Active and passive mode. At a time one can be active,and other passive. Clients can communicate the with the servers through a common alias ip address. But the actual ip address of servers can be different.Normally Active server would be having the alias ip.
    When switching take place from active to passive mode,server will be assigned with its actual ip address. When switching takes place other passive server becomes active and its get common alias ip address.?
    This is the actual scenario . And fake is used in Linux to refresh the arp table of immediate switching device.
    But i came to know that solaris os would do it normally when it switches .?
    Is this possible with solaris.?

  • Oracle 9i for Solaris8 (Intel)

    Hi,
    Has anyone successfully installed Oracle 9i on Solaris8 (Intel) ?. Pl. post your experience.
    Thanks

    I recall reading a post somewhere abt that particular user being able to install "9i for Sun Sparc" on solaris-intel without any problem. I was interested in finding out if i should give it a shot myself and if there is anything to watch out for.
    I have installed "8.1.7 for Sparc" on sol-intel with no problem.

    We need Oracle 8i for AIX...specifically Oracle 8.1.7.2.0 for AIX 4.3.3.

         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7.0.1) for Linux (Intel), with OPS
         Oracle8i Enterprise/Standard Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Windows 2000/NT

         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for HP 9000 Series HP-UX
    But nothing for AIX.
    We have an urgent requirement to get this up and running for our Dev't work and it would be a great help if we can download it as opposed to waiting 10 days for the CD to be burnt and shipped.

    is there any link which i can use to show that oracle 8i is not suppported for any version of AIX ?Go to the "Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technology Products" document, page 4. Found at http://www.oracle.com/support/lifetime-support-policy.html
    That document provides 'expiry date' for all most Oracle tech product.
