Oracle firewire modules for Redhat Linux 2.6.9-34.EL
Hi,
I need oracle firewire modules for Redhat Linux 2.6.9-34.EL. Can you please help where can I find firewire modules for this kernel.
Thanks
HaranathAccording to http://www.linux1394.org/download.php you should not need any additional kernel module support. You may need to install the libraw1394 RPM packages, but you can get those from your distribution media or from ULN, if your are subscribed.

Oracle CPU patch for 10.20.4
Hello,
Here is my DB version.
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
I am using SUNOS SPARC 64 bit server. I am going to apply JAN 2010 CPU patch. In the README.html file, i see one step as below.
If CPUOct2009 has not been applied, ensure that MLR (Merge Label Request) bugs 9054847 and 9054851 have been applied.
My question is, how do i ensure that, MLR has been already applied? Any help is highly appreciated. If patches 9054847 and 9054851 have not been applied, you will need to apply them before proceeding to apply the CPU patch. Pl see the README files of the two patches for install instructions.

Oracle 9i patches for linux 4.0 Advance server
how do i download the required patches of oracle 9i for linux 4.0 Advanced server. I am 9i oracle certified professional. Currently I am not working. how it is possible for me to dowload pathces through www.metalink.oracle.com or is there any other way to get that.
Thanx in anticipation.

OCP (9i) - DBAAs far as I can tell, the only way to patch Oracle installations for security or flaw updates is to hand-deliver bags of cash to Mr. Ellison. I was excited to see that they now offer a free developer license for the initial install, however, developers need to work with patched versions as well to ensure compatibility.
To anyone at Oracle that may read this: Is there a way for developers to download security and flaw patches without using Metalink? If Metalink is the only option, is it still out of the price range of non-corporate or government entities?
Thanks,

Oracle SOX patches for SAP platform
Oracle has released many sox patches to implement.
We would like know whether these patches can be installed for oracle databases in SAP.
SAP has given note 1137346 for 10.2.0.4 with all other patches but not outlined the sox patches.
Can any one clarify?I'd open an OSS call.
Those Oracle patches may conflict with SAP patches.

Need Oracle 9i client for RedHat Enterprise Linux AS 4.0 machine
I need to install Oracle 9i client on my RHEL AS 4.0 machine (running Intel xeon 64 bits processor). Could some one please point me to correct installable for this.
I tried to use both the Oracle9i Release 2 (9.2.0.4) installables at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/index.html
But both of them are giving error. For Linux x86-64 installable, the Universal Installer is not able to launch because the installer seems to be for AMD processor. And for second installable (32 bit installable), I get a JRE related error saying that a java library file (some *.so file) could not be located.
Please guide me on the same...
Thanks a lot,
Anuj TiwariAccording this info you should install x86_64 version.
In your first post you mentioned some errors during installtion. Can you post exact error message? -
Oracle Patches for Installing Oracle9i R2 on RedHat8 ?
I have downloaded disk1, disk2, and disk3 files from site:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/linuxsoft.html
I have been told that Oracle 9i requires a patch available only from Metalink for it's successful installation on RedHat 8.0, Is it correct.
If so how do I install these patch?I have been told that Oracle 9i requires a patch available only from Metalink for it's successful installation on RedHat 8.0, Is it correct. This is (officially) an unsupported configuration, so I don't think Oracle provides patches for it. Generally, how to install a patch is explained in the corresponding README file, which comes with every patch.
See the 'Puschitz' site, how to install:

Everything on the system is a fresh installation.
1.Oracle 9iR2 Database, I chose the data warehousing option.
After installation I checked to make sure that everything could be started.
2. I then proceeded to install the Oracle OLAP patch 9.2.0.1.0a patch for windows. After navigating to the 2499827 directory.
I typed OPatch\opatch apply as stated.
It started then said "Peforming Pre patch installation checks"
At the end of this
I recieved a message saying
"The following required components were not located or have the wrong versions
oracle.options.olap"
I guess it was to right to assume that the patch process failed, particularly as don't see any olap\admin directory in my %ORACLE_HOME%. The olap directory is there.
Can somebody please give me some pointers. Is there something I have missed with regards to setting up Oracle 9iR2 thats preventing me from patching it.
Thank you
Richard SmithIf you are missing the admin directory under your olap directory your initial Oracle9i Database Release 2 installation appears to be the culprit. Again, be sure to install the Enterprise Edition with the Data Warehouse database configuration. Also, make sure your Global Database Name and SID are all set up and running fine. Perhaps you installed over a previous ORACLE_HOME? Be sure to follow these steps for a proper Oracle removal:
1. Terminate the Oracle9i Database and its processes
Go to the Services applet in Control Panel and Stop all running Oracle processes
2. Run OUI to uninstall your previous version of Oracle9i with OLAP Option, then Exit
Choose 'Deinstall Products...'
Select the products you need to remove, then click 'Remove...'
Then click 'Exit' when done
3. For a clean installation remove the following directories and registry entries (if they still exist):
Directories:
<your_drive>:\oracle\ora92
<your_drive>:\oracle\oradata
<your_drive>:\oracle\admin
<your_drive>:\Program Files\Oracle
Registry Entries:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ORACLE]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OracleOraHome92Agent]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OracleOraHome92ClientCache]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OracleOraHome92PagingServer]

Oracle 8i for Linux 2.2 kernels (using glibc 2.1) is supposed to
be out the first part of June. I don't know what they will do
about 8SE and 8EE. Maybe supply patches? Anyway, Oracle is
aware of the problems associated with glibc 2.1 and is working on
it.
I installed Caldera Openlinux 2.2 and used a previously installed
Oracle 8EE installation. So far, it is working. I believe they
have said that it should work, but you may encounter a few
errors.
I believe that Oracle 8EE adds Partitioning and Objects. 8i is
made for use with the internet and allows you to create stored
procedures in Java. I have never used the product, but that is
my understanding of it.
I hope this helps.
