  • Oracle VM Server Installation Issues

The Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 installation hangs after I pick US keyboard and does nothing after. I’ve tried other options including an old version of VM Server and I receive an error that states "isw: untested metadata version 1.2.04 found on /dev/sda", although the installation hangs in the same place. I’m not sure what the issue is and need some help.
Also, just as a test, I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux R5-U5-Server on the hardware without any issues. I see everything, and it is a nice OS.
    Hardware details:
    I had Fry’s build a U4 server.
Six 300 GB 10k rpm SATA on a raid 5 stripe
Two 1.8 TB 7200 rpm SATA on a raid 0 mirror
    Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R
    24GB of DDR3 memory

In order to get your HDs detected you will need to create a driver disk. Check this link out so you can create one.
    http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-8.0-Manual/install-guide/ch-driverdisk.html
What the driver disk will do is load the driver disk image you need, and once you do that it should auto detect your drives.
This should at least get you headed in the right direction :)
Of course steps before creating the driver disk you will need to find out what driver you require and get a driver disk image of that driver to load to your bootable floppy/usb. In the example page they use a floppy, but any bootable media will work.
    Good luck,
    Roger.

  • Listner issues in Oracle 11g server installation

    Hi,
I am facing problem while connecting to Oracle 11g server on 'Windows 7 Enterprise edition - 32 bit OS'.
I have successfully installed Oracle 11g server on Windows & enterprise machine.
Listener and TNSnames.ora files are fine. But I am not able to connect through Oracle client machine. it shows 'TNS: Could not resolve the service name'.
When I check the listener status on the server, it shows the service ABBPROD is READY, but still not able to connect through client machine. I have gone through many similar threads and tried out the solutions provided but the problem still exists. Few of the things I tried are as below.
    1. I have tried changing the ORACLE_SID and setting the $ORACLE_HOME parameter.
    2. Tried replacing the HOST as 'localhost' to system IP address/computer name
    3. Listener stop and start
    4. Service stop and start
    5. Checked the firewall settings of the server machine
I shall paste the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files below.

My application is developed using Oracle Developer suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2 ) and deployed in Oracle Application Server 10g R2 (10.1.2.0.2) in windows 2003 32 bit and its working fine.
    My issue is as follows
    1. Since Oracle Application Server 10g R2 (10.1.2.0.2) is not supported in windows 2008 64 bit, pls advise what version of Application Server 10g i should use. Please note that my
programs are developed using Oracle Developer suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2 ).
    2. If i want to move to next development version (ie forms / Reports 11g) , which version of application server should i use.

  • Oracle Database 11g Installation Issue: ORA-12560:TNS: protocol adapter error.

    Folks,
Hello. Initially, my Windows XP host name is "localhost" and IP address 127.0.0.1.
I installed Oracle Database 11g with Windows XP successfully and all Database clients work with Database instance correctly.
For some reasons, I uninstalled the entire Database Server and delete the entire installation directory /oracle.
I configured Windows XP IP address into 192.168.196.101 in order to ping other machines.
For my need, I installed Oracle Database 11g with Windows XP again. On step 7 of 8: Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, I got this error:
    ORA-12560:TNS: protocol adapter error.
I click "Password Management" button, there are no rows in this Windows (no username, no lock accounts).
    I check listener as below:
    C:\>lsnrctl
    LSNRCTL>start
Its output: listener name LISTENER has already been started.
    LSNRCTL>status
Its output: ......Service DB1 has 1 instance. Instance DB1 status ready. The command completed successfully.
I check \Oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbca\DB1\trace file, the entry is :
    listen[0]=LISTENER address=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(port=1522))
I also check \oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\SAMPLE\tnsnames.ora file and listener.ora file, the entries are the same as below
    HOST=localhost  port=1522
I think HOST=localhost and port=1522 is the cause of the error ORA-12560 because Windows XP has been configured into HOST=192.168.196.101.
But I don't understand how to solve this issue.
Can any folk tell me how to solve this issue ? need to cancel the installation on step 7 of 8 and install it again ?
    Thanks.

Hello. Oracle Database 11g Installation Wizard is on step 7 of 8. I don't cancel the Wizard. I am not sure whether there is effect or not. listener.ora is not removed. I have been waiting for a while after stop listener.  I run the 3 commands again and copy the result as below:

  • Oracle VM OEL Installation issue

    Hi Team,
I have a new laptop with Windows 8. I am trying to setup the Oracle environment using Oracle Virtual Box. I have downloaded the part numbers V33411-01 (boot) and V33412-01 (Linux). The boot CD boots the server without issues and after few installation steps it prompts for Linux CD. When I insert the same, I get the error “The oracle linux server disc was not found in any of your cd rom drives.”
When I try to do a media check for the second CD, I get the error “unable to find the checksum in the image. This probably means the disc was created without adding the checksum.”
I tried to install using the second CD directly but it fails as the CD is not bootable. Can you please help me in fixing this issue?
    Regards,
    Antony

I don't know exactly what you're trying to do.... but all the installation media for OEL are bootable. I don't why you would have just a "boot" media that would require you to load a second disk... Unless you are using the CD installation and not the DVD iso. Why not just download the DVD iso?

  • How to change Host of Oracle Access Server

    Hello guys,
Could you help me about on doubt?
I configured Access Server in Access Administration and installed it in the server. But i saw now i forgotted about the correct hostname of this configuration. Is not a machine name and i need to change to the LBR name. Can i delete this access server , create another one with the same name without install again the File Systems?
    best regards,
    Thiago Leôncio.

It's not clear from your question which components of OAM you are referring to.
I'll presume you are talking about the aaa server process and it's LDAP connection, you can handle this by reconfiguring the product. Look in /access/oblix/tools/ for a setup or configure folder containing an executable. Running that will allow you to reset the bootstrap configuration information.
Not knowing much about your installation, I'll offer a caution that it is unusual to point an Access Server to a lb for configuration information. You can get away with it for RACed OID LDAP platforms but otherwise, I'm pretty sure it's not a supported path.

  • Not able to create a Volume Group in the oracle VM server installation

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle VM server. In the installtion ( Partition time ), i click on create custom layout and i want to create a / partition as a logical volumn under volume group. But there is no option to create a Volume group actually. So can anybody help how to create a volume group actually and how to create a logical volume under volume group.

    user10274248 wrote:

LVM is not cluster aware and does not support write barriers, both of which are important for a filesystem that is used for storing file-backed disk images.

  • Oracle Application Server Install Issue

    Gurus,
There were 2 CD/DVDS (media) sent for the Oracle Application Server Install, but the Oracle Universal Installer did not ask for the 2nd CD while doing the Install, is this normal or I am not sure I missed any steps while installing the 1st CD/DVD.
I was waiting that it would ask for the IInd CD/DVD, But it never? but the Install looked clean and exited clean without any error.
    Please advice.
    Thanks

For instance, If you want to install Oracle HTTP Server only, then you use the companion CD to do so. It has many other individual installations.

  • Access Server SDK issue.

We have set up SSO for one of our application (App1) and is working fine(in production). I am configuring one more application(App2) for SSO.
App1 is setup using webgate on our proxy server. all the request go through the webgate, urls are validated against the policy server and are given access. no problems here
App2 - Webgate installed on my local machine proxy apache server, configured the new policy domain, and using the same identity servers as app1, the app is working fine. I am trying to decode the obssocookie to retrieve the userid, I have created a webservice which takes in the obssocookie and decodes it go retrieve the user name, so that the service can be used in different applications(which are not on sso) kind of authenticate the user against the OAM if the user is already logged in.
My question is I have webgate configured on my local machine and also installed the access server sdk (Oracle_Access_Manager10_1_4_0_1_Win32_AccessServerSDK.exe) on my local machine, setup the classpath and path variables as discribed in admin guide. I am running weblogic 9.2. My index.jsp page accepts the user credentials and posts it to login.jsp ( Ihave protected the login.jsp) in the policy domain with the form based authentication schem.
I have created a testsso.jsp (unprotected page) to test the sdk. below is my code. i always get an error when i access the testsso.jsp page

please advice on how to use the sdk
    Edited by: user7498134 on Jan 8, 2009 10:35 AM

Looking at the exception - "com.oblix.access.ObAccessException: Unprotected resource GET HTTP:http://mymachine/myapp/login.jsp passed to the ObResourceRequest, so there is no associated authentication scheme.", it seems like what the SDK wants is the resource to be passed as "//mymachine/myapp/login.jsp", i.e. leave out the redundant "http:" from your URL in the program.
Let me know if that helps.

  • Oracle PIM Sync installation issues

We have experienced the PIM Sync installation issue where the client couldn't detect Outlook. We have several work stations downloaded the file and only one station has installed it successfully. We even tried to use the file that worked on that station to install into the ones that didn't work. However, we got no luck. Some of us had "Cannot Connect to Oultook" and some of us had error code - 0x083200006. Does someone have the same issue? We submitted a SR to Oracle Customer Care but haven't heard anything from them yet. We are hoping this got resloved as soon as possible. thanks!

In reference to you PIM Sync issue you did the took the correct action by contacting CRM On Demand customer care and submitting a SR.
