Oracle Active Dataguard 11g - Passwords

Hi all
Environment description: Production database, 11.2.0.3 version, standalone running on Solaris and an Oracle Active Dataguard database in read only mode, same version and operating system.
Question: The users passwords and sys/system passwrod (orapw ) could be different in the ADG environment? I mean, could the orapwd file and user password be changed in the Dataguard database ?
Thanks a lot.

ThanksHi,
Active dataguard is option after configuring dataguard.
You can put standby database in Open(read only) mode also you can enable Recover(MRP) while open so this can be used for reporting purpose too.
Please refer below links for configuring them.

    1)If i am having oracle 10g EE can i go for dataguard.Active DataGuard is a paid option of EE, you need to buy it additionally to EE.
    But DG is being installed by default in EE.
    2)If i am having 11g SE can i go for Active data guard.You must upgrade your license and buy Active DataGuard option, then upgrade installed Oracle software and database itself.
    And if it is userbased licence can i use dataguard in Oracle 10g SE.There is no dataguard in SE, there is just a manual applied standby.
    Difficult question. Some of Oracle resellers said, that manual standby is a backup option of SE, some of them said, that standby DB must be licensed as a primary.
    So you must contact to yours and discuss this.
    And also in 11g SE its userbased can i go for active dataguard.The same to 11g

  • Oracle Spatial Datatypes and Dataguard 11g

    Hi
    Does anyone know if the following datatypes are supported in dataguard 11g for logical standby or physical standby?
    SDO_Geometry
    SDO_georaster
    thanks
    sunir

    A correction. Logical standby (SQL Apply) doesn't currently natively support spatial data types but sdo_geometry can be supported thru EDS by creating a logging table and two triggers and some manual work. Please check it out from My Oracle Support:
    Note 559353.1 - Extended Datatype Support (EDS) for SQL Apply. "Extended Datatype Support (EDS) is the ability for SQL Apply to extend support for additional datatypes that are not natively supported yet by SQL Apply. EDS relies on a new capability in Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3 (10.2.0.4) and Oracle Database 11g Release 1 Patch Set 1 (11.1.0.7) that allows triggers to fire on the logical standby database. But confused about Why there could sudden spike of demand on UNDO data in Active Data Guard ? Could any one please shed some lights on finding the reason for this issue ?It's been interesting, The job runs only on ADG?
    Even it is only reporting purposes, Which runs only select statements. Are you sure that issue is only because of this job?
    Moreover am interested to know, How you able to monitor at the same time? Using EM?
    What all are the jobs ran on primary at the same time?
    Then, is it possible to run the job on primary and see whats the response?
    I suggest you to run the same job again on standby and see the ET of the job and also gather the statspack to check whether you got same buffer busy waits or not.
    What storage you are using for primary and standby? In terms of I/O and performance all are same?
    You got chance to take statspack even on primary database?
    What are the parameters differ in primary and standby?
    Also check this note, Heresome work around provided.

  • Question on Active Dataguard

    Version : 11.2
    OS Platform : Solaris 10
    I have only worked with 10GR2 physical standby databases. Now we are going to install 11.2 on solaris.
    Read about 11g's Active Dataguard feature by which applications can connect to the standby DB for read only operations.
    Once Active Dataguard feature is enabled (yet to learn ) , If the primary DB is heavily loaded and a session fires a resource intensive SELECT query, Which process will re-direct this SELECT to the less loaded Standby DB ? Is it the listener like it does in RAC ?

    Hello;
    Active Data Guard is a "Reader" database. I don't believe there's a process which will auto off load to it.
    So its great for reporting etc.
    Another Active Data Guard option is that it enables RMAN fast incremental backups on the Active Data Guard physical standby.
    This is another potential way of offloading some processing from the production database to the standby database.
    Active Data Guard is an extra License option and other than a few alter database commands its pretty simple.
    alter database recover managed standby database cancel;
    alter database open; http://oracle.techdata.ch/src/data/pdf/Active_Data_Guard.pdf

  • How can I login to Oracle Express Ed 11g Rel 2 on windows XP 32bit?

    Thanks.

    What could be the issue? Could be many different causes. Mistyping the password is one, or the database could be offline but in most cases that will give a different error message. Open a command box, Start/Run/cmd and try:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    connect system
    ... Password ... <the one used with the installer> ... Connected.
    select name from v$database;
    login window is started from a shortcut If you're talking about the Apex page, the one that opens a web browser to http://<hostname>:8080/apex and that one needs Apex credentials, not database user credentials. Apex users can be mapped to database users but that is something done via the apex administrator.
    Two database accounts "out of the box" are SYS and SYSTEM users, those are special- SYS owns the catalog, SYSTEM is a user with dba role privileges, almost as powerful within the database as the SYS user.

  • A lot of problems with Oracle BI SEE 11g

    I have a lot of problems with Oracle BI SEE 11g
    1. I upgraded my BI SEE 10 repository and can it openning in offline mode.
    2. I can't deploy my upgraded repository in EM MW Control 11g - when i try to open Farm_bifoundation_domain->Business Intelligence->coreapplication, i get error "Stream closed
    For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beggining with: Server Exception during PPR, #41".
    Opening Logs by EM control doesn't work too.
    in file middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\logs\AdminServer.log i see this event:
    <Error> <HTTP> <oratest.itera.ru> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <b639ac3e56e9a463:bd6fa7f:12ac7271e09:-8000-00000000000009e8> <1283408423378> <BEA-101019> <[ServletContext@329875093[app:em module:/em path:/em spec-version:2.5]] Servlet failed with IOException
    java.io.IOException: Stream closed
    Have you any ideas?
    3. Ok, i taking sample repository and adding a new datasource in it:
    Database: Oracle 8i
    Connection pool:
    Call interface OCI 8i/9i
    Data source name:
    (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (Host = oraapp) (Port = 1521) ) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = MYSID) ) )
    This settings are working fine in BI 10.
    In BI 11g i get this funny error: "The connection has failed". I lost my time in attempts to connect to Oracle DB 8, but have not results. After that i hacked button "Query DBMS" at "Features" tab, pressed it and when get error "ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported.".
    Therefore Oracle 8 DB as datasource not supported. Am i right?
    4. In sample repository i added oracle DB 10 as datasource, then added two dual tables and their connection to all layers.
    Now i open BI Answers, and trying to create report with one dummy column, Now i have this error:
    Error
         View Display Error
    Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

    SQL Issued: SELECT s_0, s_1 FROM ( SELECT 0 s_0, "ORA10G"."dual"."dummy" s_1 FROM "ORA10G" ) djm
    Database features are defaults.
    Does anyone solve this problem?

    Turribeach, Thanks for you time.
    1. It was not a question
    3. Yes, i have read platforms, but not supported datasources. Now i see, that BI 11g support as datasource Oracle DB 9.2.0.7 or higher. I am sorry.
    4. I'm using OCI connection type
    Now i recreate Database in Physical schema and answers is showing report data for me! But only from one table, when i use columns from to tables from one datasource, i geting error:
    Error View Display Error Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW). Error Details Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P State: HY000. Code: 10058. • Oracle Fusion Middleware 11G  B2B Document Type not getting Identified

    Hello,
    I have installed Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g on my local machine and created a custom document type with proper .xsd definition and XPath Expression Identifier in Oracle B2B interface and configured its trading partners ( Host & Remote ) along with an agreement between the partners.
    I have also configured the host listening channel of Generic-File type which picks xml files from my c:\orclsrvs_in folder.
    My problem is that the moment I drop any sample file in the expected directory, it gets picked up from B2B , but there isn't any record of the same under Reports and Metrics links.
    The Business message, Application message and Conversation message tabs are also not showing any information about the record picked, but in wire message tab, the record is shown in PROCESSING state.
    I am not able to conclude whats wrong behind this.. where can i track the logs for the same ??
    kindly help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards
    Hiteshkumar Chaudhary

    Hi Hitesh,
    i came to know that B2B extracts the TP name from the filename itselfYes, in case of Generic File, Generic SFTP and Generic FTP, file name provides the necessary values to Oracle B2B to identify the Trading Partner. You can define your own file name format in the Delivery Channel under Transport Protocol Parameters in field "Filename format" (It's an optional field but it is always good to define your own format, otherwise B2B will take it's default format - TradingPartner_DocumentType_Revision_msgType_msgId_replytoMsgID_extension.xml ). Following Filename formats can be used -
    %FROM_PARTY%
    %TO_PARTY%
    %DOCTYPE_NAME%
    %DOCTYPE_REVISION%
    %MSG_ID%
    %TIMESTAMP%
    These file name formats can be used in any combination; for example,
    %TO_PARTY%_%DOCTYPE_NAME%_%DOCTYPE_REVISION%.dat
    Note - Any file extension is allowed.
    what are the system parameters to be set in weblogic console and how?? This activity is part of the pre and post installation steps. If you have done those without getting any errors then nothing else is required.
    how shall I reinstall XEngine properly ??XEngine is part of B2B installation. If B2B gets installed without flashing any errors then we assume that other components of this part has installed properly.

  • My Active dataguard is not applying archives.

    Dears,
    Following is my setup
    =====================
    Primary:
    prod on RAC with 2 nodes
    Database : Oracle 11.2.0.3
    OS OEL 5.7
    storage : ASM
    +DATADG
    +FLASHDG
    Standby:
    sync on single node
    Database : Oracle 11.2.0.3
    storage : ASM
    +DATADG
    +FLASHDG
    I've configured Active dataguard successfully and was able to apply archivelogs successfully instantly.
    Archive log locations are +FLASHDG/prod/ARCHIVELOG/ AND /u02/arch  --- on primary
    Archive log locations are +FLASHDG/stby/ARCHIVELOG/ AND /u02/arch  --- on standby
    On Standby
    ===========
    SQL> select 'Using Active Data Guard' ADG from v$managed_standby m,v$database d where m.process like 'MRP%' ;
    ADG
    Using Active Data Guard
    SQL> select open_mode,database_role,PROTECTION_MODE,PROTECTION_LEVEL from v$database;
    OPEN_MODE DATABASE_ROLE PROTECTION_MODE PROTECTION_LEVEL
    READ ONLY WITH APPLY PHYSICAL STANDBY MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE
    SQL>
    Upto now everything is ok, means same data is sync on primary and standby. As my archive location was getting full, i've used this SQL query to clean them
    SELECT 'alter diskgroup '||dg.name||' drop file
    ''+'||dg.name||''||SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(al.name,'/')||''';'
    FROM v$asm_alias al, v$asm_file fi, v$asm_diskgroup dg
    WHERE al.file_number = fi.file_number(+)
    AND al.group_number = dg.group_number
    AND fi.type = 'ARCHIVELOG'
    START WITH alias_index = 0
    CONNECT BY PRIOR al.reference_index = al.parent_index;
    SELECT 'alter diskgroup '||dg.name||' drop file
    ''+'||dg.name||''||SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(al.name,'/')||''';'
    FROM v$asm_alias al, v$asm_file fi, v$asm_diskgroup dg
    WHERE al.file_number = fi.file_number(+)
    AND al.group_number = dg.group_number
    AND fi.type = 'BACKUPSET'
    START WITH alias_index = 0
    CONNECT BY PRIOR al.reference_index = al.parent_index;
    In order to delete ARCHIVE logs which are stored in ASM FLASHDG, which will have a type of "ARCHIVELOG" and "BACKUPSET" i've used this above two queries.
    After performing this steps , my Active dataguard is not applying archives.
    On the primary server, check the latest archived redo log
