Oracle Administration Tool (RPD) One Dimension linked with many fact tables

How to connect One dimension with many table facts in the Lgical level of RPD without having an error about connection between table facts?

It's not about "linking two catalogs". That's Siebel Marketing stuff. Forget about it. Just create your models and put them in their respective presentation catalogs.
Whatever you fire from answers will hit that specifc presentation catalog and search its way through the metadata to contruct the query.
Hence conforming dimensions as a technical concept are definitely the thing you want...not the rpd object type "conformed dimension links".

    HI Gurus,
I have 4 fact tables and 18 Dimension table. Dimension tables have links with multiple fact tables. i have created physical joins in Physical layer. Now my questions is how can i create Business Model with multiple fact tables.
i mean should i create 4 fact tables as logical tables and logical keys ? Then i have to move all dimension tables in to Business model?
i am new to OBIEE. i gone through tutorial it is showing with one fact and multi dimension table. Should i do follow same style with multi fact tables.
Please help me. Thanks in advance for your support.

    Thanks for your response.
I had drag all tables from the phisical layer to Business Model. then i have deleted all links and recreated complex joins with default values.
now i have some revenue amont columns in fact tables.
my question is should i should i create aggregation ( like Sum..) for those columns? is it must ?
please let me know thank you very much

Is there a free web-based Oracle Administration tool? Oracle SQL Developer is a free tool but not web-based. There are many web-based Shareware Oracle administration tools but I could not find a free tool. If anyone knows anything about it, please let me know.
Thank You for your help in advance!

  • Dimension and fact table with a fact table between them

    Hello all,
Here is my problem. As seen in the image, I have a fact table linked to the two dimensions.
I would have the number of Id from Cube_Requirements by variant including 'unknown" variant if no linked variant.
How is it possible ? How to create the dimension ? As my fact table has two fields, if i want to use reference as dimension usage, it doesn't work.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi, this looks a many to many relationship scenario, follow these steps:
    - drag extractid from cube_applicability onto measures area, so this table becomes a fact
    - you will have count of Extractid measure after you perform above step
    - Assuming Variant is already a dimension, go into dimension usage tab, link variant dimension with cube_requirement fact using many to many relationship and selecting cube_applicability
process cube, you should be able to get count of id by dragging and dropiping id from variant dimension..

  • Joins with multiple fact tables

    Hi Experts,
i have one doubt in joins
we have two dimensions D1 and D2,
    D1 is having A1 and A2 columns
    D2 is having B1 and B2 columns
    two facts F1 and F2 these are joined like D1 to F1 D1 to F2 and D2 to F1, D2 to F2
    D1----->F1
    D1------>F2
    D2-------->F1
    D2-------->F2
if i selected A1 and B1 in a request from which FACT table will get the data and why can you please explain
    please help me
    reg,
    Jell

    Hi All,
I have a similar requirement where I have 4 multiple fact tables and we can't combine all those facts into one single fact table. In that case how can a query work with multiple common and uncommon dimensions and measures from multiple fact tables, if it doesn't work that way - can you please explain how can we expect a query to work with multiple fact tables.
    For eg: D1– Dim
    D2 – Dim
    D3 – Dim
    D4 – Dim
    F1 –Fact
    F2 – Fact
    F3 – Fact
    D1 -> F1
    D2 -> F1,F2
    D3 -> F2
    D4 -> F1, F3
In this case if we want to query from D1,D2,D3, F1, F2 or D1,D2,D3,D4,F1,F2,F3. Kindly please explain how it can be modeled in BMM or what are the limitations. I have done with two fact tables in past and didn't had issues but this is kind of a vast implementation. Your help is appreciated.

  • Conformed dimension and query multiple fact tables

    Hello,
Please if someone can guide me on this requirement.
Requirement - I have a conformed dimension D1 and two fact tables F1 and F2. Both fact tables have many columns so I cannot merge
the two fact tables into one logical table. Currently both these fact tables have logical tables F1 and F2 respectively.
As per design the conformed dimension is a simple logical table in the rpd and not a dimension.
Can someone guide me how should i proceed so that i'll be able to fetch information from both the fact tables?

    Hi,
Currently the dimension table is taken as a simple logical table in rpd as it does not have have any levels or hierarchy.
Its a flat dimension. Can you guide me how can I implement a flat dimension in OBIEE? Because this dimension is taken as simple logical table
I am not able to set appropriate level for fac tables. This dimension does not appear in the list of dimensions.

  • Problem with loading fact table in OWB3i

    Hi,
I have a problem while trying to load a fact table using OWB 3i. Let me explain the situation :
I have 2 dimensions: Customer, Product say.
I have loaded the dimension tables separately, successfully using different mappings from source tables.
Now I want to load the fact table with the corresponding warehouse keys from these dimension tables through lookup transformation.
When I try to bring to lookup transformations for the 2 dim. tables, it gives an error--"Source and target are bound to different data providers". Using 1 dim table and 1 corresponding lookup transformation , the fact table is successfully loaded.
How to load a fact table when there are more than 1 dim. tables using lookup ?Is there any other way of solving the same problem?
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
    regards
    Dipanjan

Simply, try joining source tables with the join operator. In wich way you can create a single source object into the mapping suitable to be connected with yours fact tables.

  • Same dimension in two different fact tables

    Hi,
I have one same dimension in two different fact tables. I would like to know how BI server choose the fact table when I do a request in this dimension.
I know that is always using the same fact table, but I would like to know why choose this table and not the other.
    Thanks

    Sorry,
But it doesn't seem to me.
I reorded the tables in the BMM layer and it continues to use the same table, regardless this table is in last.
After, I droped that table in the BMM layer and it continued to use the same.
    Thanks for your reply

  • How to Synchronize cube measures with relational fact tables?

    Dear all,
I built a simple analysis cube on Oracle 10g R2 using AWM.
The problem is when I change in the column associated with a base measure of my cube and then do cube or measure maintenance using the maintenance wizard of AWM, the measure value does not change and does not reflect the changes i made in the fact table.
Please tell me how to keep the cube measures on sync with the fact table columns
    Thanks for helping

    Hi there,
if you delete data in your fact table, i would asume that you have to delete the data in the cube, too. This is not done by "maintain cube".
According to your load strategy you have delelete the old data e.g. for the whole cube or just for a given time data (day/month).
You can use the dml command "clear" or just search in this forum for "clear cube".
Maybe this helps you to "synchronize cube".
If not, the questions would be:
Is new data loaded in the cube correctly?
Is updated data loaded in the cube correctly?
Is data in the cube, which is not present in the fact tables?
    Good luck!

  • Model with 2 fact tables

    Hi all,
i have a model with two fact tables, both of them containing these columns:
    - some measures
    - foreign keys for dimensional tables
    - column year
    - column month
I have to build a model with both of these two tables, including a unique time dimension. Do anyone knows how i can do to make a unique dimension for both of the tables?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards

A time dimension (or date dimension for that matter) are quite independent and you can find N good generic time/date dim structures out there (with proper Y/M/DAGO keys, calendar vs fiscal rollups etc etc).
But if you only want to create a single common time/date dim based on what you have in your facts, you can just follow (as a quick win before thinking about how to structure a physical time/date dim) Stewarts basic example here:

  • Designing a cube with two Fact tables

    Hi,
I am new to multi-dimensional modeling. I am trying to define a cube with two fact tables which have many to many relationship. so I came up with following schema:-
I want to design a cube so that I can get the count of "FactOne" items which are related to "FactTwo" items having particular status. So, I want to get the count of "FactOne" where they are related to items in "FactTwo"
which have "Status1". Could anyone please guide me how would I do it?
    Thanks

    Hi Ahsan,
In your scenario, there are tow fact tables on your Data Source View, and now what you want is that "count of FactOne" which are related to "FactTwo" in a particular status, right?
It seem that you have find a blog that describes how to select facts with reference dimension on you another thread. As per my understanding, you can follow that blog to achieve your requirement.

  • Few dimension values used in FACT tables.

    Hello all,
We are trying to know if somebody faced this issue earlier. We have dimension tables containing 5 million records, but the fact table uses hardly 30k of these dimension values. The fact table contains 350 million records, so is there any way to improve the performance of the query in such a scenario, where hardly 20% of dimension values are actually used by the FACT tables.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Upendra

You might want to remove these records. But be sure that you dont delete the records for the base level members.

I guess you meant should not, right ?

  • How can we know that size of dimension is more than fact table?

how can we know that size of dimension is more than fact table?
this was the question asked for me in interview

    Hi Reddy,
This is common way finding the size of cube or dimensions or KF.
Each keyfiure occupies 10 Bytes of memory
Each Char occupies 6 Bytes of memory
So in an Infocube the maximum number of fields are 256 out of which 233 keyfigure, 16 Dimesions and 6 special char.
So The maximum capacity of a cube
    = 233(Key figure)10 + 16(Characteristics)6 + 6(Sp.Char)*6
In general InfoCube size should not exceed 100 GB of data
    Hope it answer your question.

  • Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 link to sqlserver 2000 tables

    Hi!
    I have a sqlserver 2000 running. I also have a oracle 9.2 server with
    windows 2003 running.
I installed after oracle enterprise edition setup the oracle gateway
services for sqlserver on my oracle server.
Then I made some changes in the different oracle *.ora files. Then I
    restarted the oracle service OracleOraHome92TNSListener.
    My question:
is that all I have to do on my oracle server? have I anything to do on my
    sqlserver 2000?
can my oracle server be at the same time my gateway to sqlserver 2000 or
must that be an other computer - sqlserver?
    Thanks

Really I do not have a direct answer for your question because I have not used the oracle gateway services for sqlserver but if refer you this document. I hope this can help in something and if you any link with documentation about the theme I am going to please you if you replay it.
