Oracle Advanced Seucirty option on Solaris

Hi,
I have just installed Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 Enterprise edition on Solaris 10 and from OUI "installed product" report, I see that I have OAS and all the necessary products (i.e. SSL...) installed but when I run netmgr -> Oracle Net Configuration -> Local -> Profile, I do not see an option in the drop down menu with regards to OAS! Have I missed anything or do I need any particular licensing that I am not aware of? If so, how I can get OAS to work?
Thank you

Anyone?

    Oracle database version is 10g R2 (10.2.0.4) .
    OS is Solaris 10
We are looking for an option of implementing Oracle advanced security option (ASO) .But want to know if its certified with EBS R12.1.1 / 10g R2 database.
I checked few links but I'm not clear if its certified.
    http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2008/07/10gr2_10204_certified_with_apps_11i.html
from the above link i understand its certified on 11i (11.5.10 CU2 only)
    <<Advanced Security Option / Advanced Networking Option (ASO / ANO) (11.5.10.CU2 only)>>
Dees anyone know about this certification. If you have any pointers please let me know.
    Thanks for your time.
    Note : ASO is certified with 11g database. 11gR1 but I'm looking for 10g R2 (10.2.0.4)

  • Oracle Advanced Networking Option with Linux

I want to set up a linux client that works with an Solaris based Oracle 8i EE server using an encrypted connection.
I have successfully done this with NT clients. However the Linux client responds an "ORA-12657: No algorithms installed"
Isn't Oracles Advanced Networking Option available for Linux?
If it is, how do I install it?

Check to see if ANO is linked in with SQL*Plus by running the following:
    cd to oracle_home/bin
    adapters sqlplus
If after running the adapters command and ANO does not show as being linked in,
    perform the following:
    1. Change directorys to oracle home/sqlplus/lib
    2. Run the following unix command to relink SQL*Plus:
    make -F ins_sqlplus.mk install
    3. Change to oracle home/bin directory.
    4. Re-run "adapters sqlplus" to verify that ANO is now linked in.

  • Oracle Advanced Compression Option - Effect On RMAN Backup

My client is interested in introducing Oracle's Advanced Compression capabilities into their 11g landscape. My questions are related to the effects RMAN Compression has on backup infrastructures. I need to understand the impact/reduction in Data Domain or tape that can be expected.
    1. What has been the experience with implementing RMAN Compression? Are there any lessons learned you can share?
    2. There are three levels of compression -- LOW, MEDIUM & HIGH. What compression ratios have you seen for any/all of these levels?
    3. Have you experienced any effects on server performance or any impact on database and backup functionality, when RMAN Compression is running?
I would appreciate any insights you can share.

Our main purpose for buying this option was OLTP compression. Just by this you can save tons of space(ofcourse it depends upon the type of data).
With RMAN , in maximum compression mode ,your CPU usage will go high so make sure not to schedule the backup with heavy activities on the database.
    Page 10- 14 will help.

  • Making Dependent information mandatory in Oracle Advanced Benefit Options

    Hi,
If employee select Employee + Spouse option through SSHR, system should ask him to select spouse from available dependents. This has to be at option level.
    Where this is setup?

    Navigation:
    1. Employee self service
    2. Benefits
    3. Update Benefits
    4. Select Employee + Spouse option
    5. Next
    6. He should be able to select spouse from existing list of dependents and he must select it as for this is option, selecting spouse is manatory(Business requirement)
    7. Submit the request.
Basically for particular option, dependent selection should be required. I checked in the system. There is dependent designation at plan level. That was not working as per my requirement. I want it at option level. If I select spouse, system should ask for marriage certificate and she should not get enrollmed till certificate is provided.
    Hope I am clear!
Please ask if more detail is required.

  • Is it possible to perform network data encryption between Oracle 11g databases without the advance security option?

Is it possible to perform network data encryption between Oracle 11g databases without the advance security option?
We are not licensed for the Oracle Advanced Security Option and I have been tasked to use Oracle Network Data Encryption in order to encryption network traffic between Oracle instances that reside on remote servers. From what I have read and my prior understanding this is not possible without ASO. Can someone confirm or disprove my research, thanks.

    Hi, Srini Chavali-Oracle
As for http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/advanced-security/advanced-security-ds-12c-1898873.pdf?ssSourceSiteId… ASO is mentioned as TDE and Redacting Sensitive Data to Display. Network encryption is excluded.
As for Network Encryption - Oracle FAQ (of course this is not Oracle official) "Since June 2013, Net Encryption is now licensed with Oracle Enterprise Edition and doesn't require Oracle Advanced Security Option." Could you clarify this? Thanks.

  • Advanced Networking Option over Win2K

I had high hopes for getting Oracle's Kerberos working over Win2K seamlessly, but the Oracle Advanced Networking Option only had information on using Kerberos over UNIX. With Win2K it wasn't apparent where even to begin. I have Enterprise 8i installed and a licensed Advanced Networking CD which I installed on both client and server, but I don't know where to begin to configure Kerberos for Oracle over Win2K. Anybody out there doing this?

Oracle8 for Linux is at the moment avlaible only in the standard
version. To use the andvanced networking option you need
the Enterprise Edition or Oracle8i. At the moment these products
aren't available for Linux. You'll have to wait for their release.

  • License costs?... R Enterprise (but no Oracle Advanced Analytics)

We use R and R Studio, and understandably, it doesn't handle large data sets very well.
As R is open source and free, I was wondering if Oracle R Enterprise was also free, however, I see this article in PC World (http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/249509/oracle_stakes_claim_in_r_with_advanced_analytics_launch.html) which seems to indicate it isn't.
Is someone able to confirm the pricing on this? We haven't (and don't want) the Oracle Advanced Analytics (with Data Mining, Hadoop, etc) software. We are just looking to move to R Enterprise. Is this possible (without cost?)

R is an open-source software environment for statistical computing and graphics that can be downloaded for free from CRAN: http://cran.r-project.org. Oracle R Enterprise and Oracle Data Mining comprise the Oracle Advanced Analytics option for Oracle Database 11g R2. The price for this option is $23,000 per CPU.
The pricing for Oracle R Connector for Hadoop, bundled with the Big Data Connectors, is $2000 per CPU.
The Oracle R Distribution: http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/EnterpriseLinux/EL5/addons/x86_64/ is offered as a free download from Oracle, and is supported for Oracle Big Data Appliance and Oracle R Enterprise customers.

  • Oracle Advanced Queueing on 10G  dequeue options  FIRST_MESSAGE

Has anyone used the " dbms_aq.first_message " in their dequeue options when dequeueing from a queue with oracle advanced queueing?
If so, have yoiu noticed any change in performance time ? Has it slowed processing time in anyway?
Just looking for anyone that has actually used this and their experience with it.
    Thanks,

Its difficult to answer without understanding what your application is trying to achieve, PLSQL notification can handle certain aspects - e.g. fire off a procedure when new messages arrive.
Have a look at the doc to see if it might help your scenario:

Here are some additional statements for 10g on Solaris 10g x86:
    1. Execute runInstaller with the -ignoreSysPrereqs option.
    2. Select 'Do not create a starter database' when installing Oracle 10g.
    3. During installation, the warning message 'SUNWsprox package not installed' can be ignored. Press Continue to resume the installation.
    4. Download and install patch 4186426 from metalink.oracle.com after installing Oracle 10g software.
    5. If you have an End User Solaris 10 distribution, install the SUNWuiu8 package prior to installing the 10g client.

Hi, I encourage you to try to use the generic installer at: %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/runInstaller. Because if you are using the runInstaller at %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/install/solaris it will lead to that problem in some cases.

  • Propagation between queues in Oracle Advanced Queuing

We would like to connect two queues that reside in different database schemas/instances.
We try to use the propagation feature of Oracle to achieve this.
The queue-type is the same for both queues.
Enqueuing is done with a recipient list in order to set multiple local subscribers for the messages that are put onto the queue.
We would like to propagate between queues without changing the applications that write to originating queue and the other applications that read from the target queue.
During our research we only found ways where we need to change the application that writes onto the queue, which is not acceptable for us. Also the list of subscribers needs to be different based on the message.
Therefore I have the following question:
    - is there a way to set up propagation between queues in a way where we don't need to modify the sending application?
    - if not, is there a different way to connect two queues via a subscriber/consumer?

Oracle8i for Linux does have AQ, although I haven't evaluated it
yet. If you're still having trouble with the install, make sure
you get the patch. A quicker and easier way to get Oracle8i up

evaluating Oracle8i for both Linux and NT and the NT version is
    more stable.
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences with AQ

considering using AQ with. Please send me an email and tell me
