Q: Like Oracle Linux, can we download Oracle AIX 6.1 operating system download from Oracle.
A: No. You need to contact your OS vendor for this.
Oracle Linux is an open source operating system available under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and other open source licenses. It is available for free download
Note: Oracle offers 24x7, global support for Oracle Linux through a paid subscription.

Oracle AIX pre-requist script controls
Dear Oracle fellows
I would like to know if it is possible to use the pre-checks built in OUI in a command line script for AIX in order to control the swap, the bos packages and etc values.
Any idea?
ThanksBefore 10g there was a special unix script for checking pre-requirements.
You can check metalink Note 189256.1 "UNIX: Script to Verify Installation Requirements for Oracle 8.0.5 to 9.2 versions of RDBMS
As oui is java, then probably You can try to debug which jar files and what parameters are executed in order to check are all packages installed.
Or simply make Your own script based on my mentioned one, just add needed checks for concrete operating system.
But why can't You simply run ./runInstaller and then just adjust if something is forgetted. -
PI 7.0 (Oracle + AIX) in Cluster
I've read the SAP installation guide for SAP Netweaver 2004's, but I don't understand the installation sequence in a cluster. Anybody have a own guide with the steps to install it ?
Thank's in advanceI've execute the next steps (I install DB+CI in the same node) :
- cluster software (HACMP) and set up filesystems
- ASCS (using SAP virtual hostname)
- SCS (using SAP virtual hostname)
- database instance
I think is the correct steps. After that I execute the "central instance" but the sapinst advise me that another central instance with number 00 exist. Are you sure is necessary to execute all steps ? -
DB on Aix/Oracle, CI Sap on Windows : supported or not ?
I'm looking for informations about a scenario where the Database is on Oracle/Aix, while the Sap central Instance is on Windows 2003 64 bit.
I found note 80266, but it refers to a link on sapnet now replaced with the advise to come here in SDN.
I'm not able to find out the white paper indicated on the note : "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous R/3 Systems".
I found several notes, but it seems they refers always to the installation of secondary R/3 As on Windows while the R/3 CI is on Unix as well the database.
Any advise ?Thansk for the feedback.
My doubt is that, as I remember, during a distributed installation of the DB istance the sapinst will ask to access some directory from the R/3 central Instance host.
Do I have to install SAMBA on the unix side just for the installation phase ? Or I can do some workaround to avoid to use SAMBA ?

Dear All,
I have SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4.1 running on window servers and sql server database. We want to migrate this to AIX and oracle.
Can you please share what should be the best approach to carry on this migration?
Regards,
AslehHi Mohammed,
Regarding your Query below is the suggestion:
Step I: Preparing for moving BOBJ application from Windows to AIX
There are some tasks that you need to perform:
To configure the existing deployment
Perform inventory and cleanup, to ensure that only the required content is moved.
Run the Repository Diagnostic Tool to detect any inconsistencies between the File Repository and the CMS repository. The upgrade management tool will not run successfully if there are inconsistencies between the File Repository and the CMS repository.
Identify any content that the upgrade management tool can't upgrade, along with the process required to upgrade that content. There is some content like Voyager Workspaces or Desktop Intelligence documents that require manual intervention before running the upgrade management tool.
Back up existing repositories, including the system database and the Input and Output File Repository Servers.
Back up custom web applications, HTML pages, and scripts in your existing deployment.
To configure the planned BI 4.x deployment
Setup and configure the Middleware and ODBC connections.
Ensure that your machines meet the deployment system's requirements, you can find information about the supported platforms in the Platform Availability Matrix (PAM) http://service.sap.com/support -> Help and Support -> SAP BusinessObjects Support -> Documentation -> Supported Platform s/PARs -> SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.x
Step II:
You can use database backup & FRS backup (Offline) in new environment (AIX) to deploy BOBJ 4.x Version
Take the help of DBA to move CMS & AUDIT database backup from SQL Server (Windows) to Oracle (AIX)
Test the Universe, reports, Check the rights
Step III:
If you are configured any SSO then make sure that same configuration is deployed in new environment (AIX).
Test the user SSO in new environment (AIX).
Or
You can also use Promotion manager to move the contenet from Windows (Business Objects Application) to UNIX (Business Objects Application)
Only prerequisite is Business Objects Application version should be same.
You can copy content only 50 Object at a time in One Job
FRS Offline backup is required.
Necessary files regarding custom web applications, HTML pages, and scripts in your existing deployment.
Please refer the below KBA for more details

We are able to take offline, online backups but we are facing the above mentioned problem while taking archive log backup
We are on ECC 6 / Oracle / AIX
The kernel is latest
The drive is working fine and there is no problem with the tapes as we have tried using diffrent tapes
can this be a permissions issue?
I ran saproot.sh but somehow it is setting owner as sidadm and group as sapsys to some of the br* files
I tried by changing the permissions to oraSID : dba but still the error is the same
Any suggestions?Means you have not initialized the medias but trying to take backups.
First check how many medias you have entered in your tape count parameter for archive log backups (just go to initSID.sap and check)
Then increase/reduce them to according to your archive backup plan >> Initialize all the tapes according to their name (same as you have initialized in initSID.sap) >> stick physical label to all the medias according to name >> Schedule archive backups
It will not ask you for initialization as already you have initialized in second step.
Suggestion: Use 7 medias per week (one tape per day)

Loss of all controlfile, database is automatic shutdown abort?
Your database is configured in NOARCHIVELOG mode. All the control files have been lost due to a hard disk failure but the data files are not lost. You have the closed whole database backup available to you. Which two statements are true in this scenario? (Choose two.)
A) The instance aborts.
B) The database cannot be recovered.
C) The database can be recovered by restoring the control files from the backup.
D) The database remains opened and you have to shut it down with the ABORT option.
E) The database can be restored till the point of the last closed whole database backup.

why, loss of all controlfile, the database not abort?Satish Kandi wrote:
The files, which are in use by a process, are not actually deleted when one issues rm command.
Its only when the process terminates that the locks are released and file is actually deleted at operating system level.I concur!
This behavior is *NIX only.
Windows explicitly prevents open files from being deleted.

Upgrade hangs at TABIM_POST_SHD
Hi all,
My ecc 6 EHP6 upgrade hangs at TABIM_POST_SHD .This is running for the past 5 hours still not completed. From pas experience this phase has never taken so much time .There are no backgroung jobs running nor are the logs being updated.Only 1 file is being updated which sort of runs in loop.

2. NO authorization to open the usr/sap/<SID>........pse
step:import of the portal certificate to the BI(ABAP) system
3. ABAP backend doesn't exist in SLD
step: WD_JCO_Dest_BI_METADATA
4.ABAP backend doesn't exist in SLD
step: WD_JCO_Dest_BI_MODELDATA
5.ABAP backend doesn't exist in SLD
step: WD_JCO_Dest_WD_ALV_METADATA _DEST
6.ABAP backend doesn't exist in SLD
step: WD_JCO_Dest_WD_ALV_MODELDATA _DEST
in PORTAL: connections checking it is showing RED with SSO not configured peoperly.
Actually just last time the template installer wizard went fine but it was also same (sso not working) problem..then i ran it again with the above 6 errors:
and in BEx after logging i am unable to save and the error is

Hello experts,
this is my first question so apologies if it's in the wrong area.
I am implementing SAPKITAB7N onto a dev system, as recommended by RTCCTOOL which we run every year. It has completed and taken me to SPAU where 3 notes require my attention, they appear in the Note Corrections section and have a yellow triangle against them
0002049530 Data Collectors corrections ST-A/PI 01R*
0002052865 ST14 corrections for component SAP_BW for ST-A/PI 01Q - 01R
0002056575 Correction for DANA processing in ST-A/PI 01R*
All are obsolete and I want to reset to original, however when I attempt this I get the following error message
You have chosen the "Reset to Original" function for an SAP Note correction.
This function is only supported for obsolete notes that were imported with the upgrade or support package.
Procedure
Use the SAP Note Assistant function for deactivating note implementations.
So I opened up SNOTE, downloaded the notes, opened them in the browser, selected them and pressed Reset SAP note implementation
I get the following message
No correction instructions implemented for SAP Note 0002049530
I can see from the logs that a full and successful implementation has taken place a while ago, though for an earlier version of the note
My question is if I cannot revert to original or reset implementation then how can I clear SPAU?
I have kept SPAU clean up to now and would love to keep it that way.
SAP ECC 6.0
ORACLE
AIX
Many thanks!Hi Nicholas ,
The following notes are available in SMP and have valid corrections .
2049530 - Data Collectors corrections ST-A/PI 01R SP0
2052865 - ST14 corrections for component SAP_BW for ST-A/PI 01Q - 01R SP0
2056575 - Correction for DANA processing in ST-A/PI 01R*
If the notes were obsolete [ because of your recent patch ] they would have been "greyed" out in SPAU .
As they are in yellow , believe old versions of the same notes are in the system . Can you provide the following
a ) Please let us know what version of ST-A/PI patch you are currently on
b ) Also , choose one note , go to sapnote browser , execute and send the screenshot
Thanks ,

Seperate ABAP and JAVA stack for BI
Hi,
We already have running a ABAP stack with BI 7.0 on Oracle/AIX
We are now going to install the JAVA stack with the following software units (AS JAVA, EP, EPC, BI JAVA) to a seperate AIX server. I do have the following questions:
1.) The installation of the JAVA stack will also create a new database or is it possible to use/connect to the database of the ABAP stack
2.) How are we going to connect the ABAP server to the JAVA server. Will that be with JCO or RfC or something else.
3.) Installing the JAVA on a seperate server, how the handle the user store. Creating its own or can we use the user store of the ABAP such as in a dual stack installation ?
4.) Other issue's what is worth to mention
please advise
RitchieHi Ritchie,
You can have different installation options.Amswers below
1)As you are installing in a different system It will create a sepatate database and the connection will happen through jco/rfc.
2) jco/rfc will be used for connection
3)User store will be selected according to the installation mode mentioned in the installation guide.

More Info:
Checked alert log, no errors in alert log. checked datafiles status and everything is perfect!! The errors are appearing in SAP application logs only
Is it due to any patches missing on AIX/oracle?
Any idea guys? Looks like some oracle/AIX error?Hello Shrinath,
please post the following content.
shell> aioo -a
Maybe you have reached the maximum number of asynchronous I/O requests.
For example in our SAP environments the following parameters are set
shell> aioo -a
minservers = 8
maxservers = 400
maxreqs = 1228
fsfastpath = 1

Can we deletete the eps/in directory after the upgrade
Gurus ,
we are in the process of upgrading our support packages through SAINT . we are using ECC6.0 version on Oracle AIX 64 bit .
hence for applying all the add-ons we load it from front end to \eps\in directory via SAINT .
But my doubt is ,
- can we manually delete the eps\in directory after the upgrade is over ? because each add on are around 145 mb . and i fear accumulation of those will cause problem
-How to find the space available in eps\in directory from the GUI ?Hi,
You can safely delete files from EPS/in after you install them to the system, they will be in the Database so this files are not needed any more. In fact even if they are ther, you won´t see any new SP or Add On using SAINT & SPAM unless you copy new versions to EPS/in directory. -
Dialog WP runtime exceeds value set in rdisp/wp_max_runtime
Dialog wp runtime exceeds the value set in parameter rdisp/wp_max_runtime
Value set for rdisp/wp_max_runtime is 1500 but wp runtime exceeds more than 10,000. we are using 4.5B system on Oracle/AIX.
Please suggest how to avoid such wp running for more than value set in parameter rdisp/wp_max_runtime.Hi Rudra,
rdisp/max_wprun_time essentially may not stop the process all th time especially if your work process is waiting for some information or waiting for some query to execute.
Read the following note which describes the behaviour of this parameter
Note 25528 - Parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time
Hope that helps.

Siddhesh
