Oracle And D2K on Windows NT

My company has developed a Financial Accounting Package having oracle as its backend and D2K as its front end.We have used forms 5.0 and reports 3.0.
We have a problem when we run our package in an NT environment. When we close our package the forms runtime exe F50Run32.exe gives an application error.Even though this problem doesn't interferes with the working of our package this error always comes while closing the application.
One more error is that after our package is installed in an NT machine, when it is restarted a error message with reference to NLNT.dll is thrown.
I would like to know the solution to solve this problem and the reason for this problem.
Thanks
srinath

My 2nd attempt worked...
* I uninstalled all traces of Oracle software on my
system (as mentioned in the earlier posting titled:
"Oracle Installation or Uninstallation Solutions For Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT/XP" )
* Copied the Oracle CD into a temp area in my hard disk, modified
oraparam.ini in the install direcrory (see above posting),
ran the setup.exe from the hard disk location. Did a Custom
installation. Unselected the DBCA component. (I think i hadnt
done this last time and the installer terminated while trying to
create a database..)
* Modified all the .cl files listed in the posting with -nojit
And the installation went thru successfully!! the Start menu now
shows all the components. Ran setup again and installed the
DBCA also.
Good Luck!

I am running into the same thing...I did a Typical installation
(seemed to actually install stuff) but at the end there was
no "end of Installation" window..Then I did a Custom intallation
and selected more products to install. This too seemed to intall.
The Installer just terminates at the end. When i bring it up
again, there are no Installed products listed..
I am installing on a NT workstation P4 machine and have renamed
the symcjit.dll as suggested in one of the earlier posting..
Any ideas whats happening?
_Usha
Hi..!!!
I'm installing on Windows NT workstation with the latest path and fixes, the installation runs well until it shows de 100% complete then, I think begin to start the services but then then Oracle Universal Installer closes...
I expect to start running the net8 assistant configuration and database assistant but that never happend...
When I check there is only 3 services registered and the TNSListener Started..
I also check the shorcuts and there are several missing also I run again the Universal installer to check for "installed products" but there no products installed...but the software is on the hard drive...
I also check for HD space...what else can I do...?
Thanks...!!!!

yes it is possible, we are having oracle 8.04 running on Netware 5.0 with Win98 clients using D2K.
However further versions of oracle e.g. 8i,9i etc are not available and never going to be available on netware.
hence we are migratiing to Win2K Adv server.

  • Oracle Berkeley DB on windows 8.1 and future windows versions

    Hi All,
Can anybody tell me if oracle Berkeley DB will be supported in Windows 8.1 and its future versions.
I understand that Berkeley DB relies on POSIX system calls and also that POSIX and WSU (Windows services for Unix) is deprecated from windows 8.1.

    Hi,
As far as we test, Berkeley DB can build and work on Windows 8. We don't have Windows 8.1 for testing currently, so I'm not quite sure whether it is fully supported on this version.
On Windows, Berkeley DB does not rely on the Posix interface on Windows, it uses Windows native API.

Depends on how big is your database.
For small database, doing a export and import is quick and dirty.
For larger database, I would suggest migrate the database. But this means a lot of work and test. This is what I would do if I am doing amigration:
    1. Do a cold backup of your 815 database
    2. On your new test box, try to install 815 and start your old database
    3. Upgrade your database to 8174
    4. Install 10gr2 on your new test box
    5. Migrate your 8174 database to 10gr2.
    6 Test a lot
    7. Repeat steps 1-6 2-3 times
    8. Document tthe process and your test results completely.
    9. Repeat what you document on your production box.

  • How do I define 2 disk groups for ocr and voting disks at the oracle grid infrastructure installation window

    Hello,
It may sound too easy to someone but I need to ask it anyway.
I am in the middle of building Oracle RAC 11.2.0.3 on Linux. I have 2 storage and I created three LUNs in each of storage so 6 LUNs in total look in both of servers. If I choose NORMAL as a redundancy level, is it right to choose my 6 disks those are created for OCR_VOTE at the grid installation? Or should I choose only 3 of them and configure mirroring at latter stage?
The reason why I am asking this is that I didn't find any place to create asm disk group for ocr and voting disks at the oracle grid infrastructure installation window. In fact, I would to like to create two disk groups in which one of groups contains three disks those were brought from storage 1 and the second one contains rest three 3 disk that come from the last storage.
I believe that you will understand the manner and help me on choosing proper way.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    You have 2 Storage H/W.
You will need to configure a Quorum ASMDisk to store a Voting Disk.
Because if you lose 1/2 or more of all of your voting disks, then nodes get evicted from the cluster, or nodes kick themselves out of the cluster.
You must have the odd number of voting disk (i.e 1,3 or 5)  one voting disk per ASM DISK, So 1 Storage will hold more voting disk than another storage.
    (e.g 3 Voting Disk - 2 voting stored in stg-A and 1 voting disk store in stg-B)
If fail the storage that hold the major number of  Voting disk the whole cluster (all nodes) goes down. Does not matter if you have a other storage online.
    It will happen:

  • Oracle 11g ODBC for Windows NT and Windows 95

    Hi
Please does anyone knows where can I find this ODBC ? Oracle 11g ODBC for Windows NT and Windows 95
I have test some ODBC from the Oracle page but doesnt work
    Thank you
    J.A.

    I'm thinking no.
However I did find this which may help :
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/odbcfaq-128251.pdf
I did the search for 16 bit in it and found some interesting information.
The other piece of information I can share is the Oracle 11 client has issues connecting to Oracle 9.
An Oracle 10 clients might have a better chance, but the catch is finding it.
The last client I remember working on these OS's was Oracle 8. But I doubt that will connect to Oracle 11.

  • When will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX6.1

    Hi all
I'm sorry if I post it in a wrong place... But I really want to know when will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX 6.1?
I've searched in metalink but found nothing useful. Is there anybody can give me a link of Oracle's roadmap for platform support?
    Thanks!

Oracle does not announce release dates and neither
does any other software company. But Oracle does have a very good track record of supporting their products on new windows releases extremely close to the windows release date. Clearly they can't support on an unreleased platform though. Given that the launch of Server 2008 isn't even complete worldwide yet (19th March in the UK for example) it would seem that this enquiry is a little premature.

When I was cleaning my email account i noticed message from OTN forum. I forgot to reply :/
I followed instructions from the message above and it worked. Oracle XE + PPRD (only forms to save disk space and RAM) + weblogic, i have also installed APEX 3.2.1. It all works at my win 7 system
There where one bug in forms builder database connector, solution was to replace it with the file from SQL*Plus (AFAIR it was tnsnames.ora file)
So thank you Chris999, you helped me a lot.

  • Oracle Startup/Shutdown with SQLPLUS and ORADIM in Windows...

I am a newbie to the Windows platform. SQLPLUS will not allow me to issue a STARTUP command. This is what I get when I attempt to SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE and subsequently issue a STARTUP MOUNT/NOMOUNT or any STARTUP command for that matter. • Running Oracle XE and Oracle enterprise on same windows machine

    Hi,
I never had to try anything similar to this on windows. I need to continue to run Oracle Enterprise edition and Oracle XE on my windows machine.
I can install both, but when I try to run the Listener for XE Edition, it starts the listener for the enterprise edition.
Also the DB Homepage doesnt work, which leads me to believe that it might be using some fo the enterprise files, not the XE files.
I cant access the XE forum, because I cant register, so sorry for posting this here. I cant seem to find a place that mentions or explains how you can run both on a Windows box.
I have run multiple oracle versions on Unix, just never on windows...

On the windows case, the order of evaluation is taken from the PATH environment variable. This same rule applies when you have several Oracle products installed on the same box, ensure you are launching a tool that makes sense with its home, i.e. launching netca to configure a tnsentry at the XE home will not work since XE doesn't have a netca tool and the tnsora file it will be modifying will be that of the oracle home it is related to. On the other hand, when lauching sqlplus it would not be too dangerous since any compatible version of sqlplus will work.
There are issues with the listener, Oracle XE requires to be registered against the listener, additionally it will create an OraDAV access (http protocol) to open the access to the Web Administration Console. If you are planning to use web/plsql application this is also important. It can work with the other listener, but depending on your particular conditions you may want to start an independent listener for XE.

  • Sendmail on linux and oracle colloboration suite on windows 2000

    Hello
I am new to Oracle collaboration suite .We just want to know ,how we can implement sendmail on linux server on a seperate machine and Oracle collaboration suite on windows 2000 on a different machine.Whether it is possible or not if yes then what are the steps to be taken for this,I mean how we can go for it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Maddie,
=> Phsyical DataGuard supports different platforms, but not different versions. So no option.
=> Logical Standby => while supporting different versions of database, it hat platform restrictions. So especially with 10g is not an option as well
=> GoldenGate is probably the way to go, but unfortunately not a cost free option. But would ideally support what you expect.
=> Streams might be possible as well...
