Oracle application 10.1.2.0.2 on 64bit windows 2003

hi all,
i have gone through the metalink certify column- it speaks that you can install BI and forms on windows 2003 0s 64bit with oracle application server 10.1.2.0.2 but without infrastructure.
Does that mean we will not be able to use OID and management repository which we are using for synchronization with the windows active directory. will i be able to use oracle discoverer???
will my forms requires some modification while going for 64-bit windows???? is there a separate 64bit oracle 10.1.2..0.2 application server software or the same that is used with 32 bit windows can work??will it solve my memory problem to use more than 4GB if i use
The same oracle AS that i have been using for 32 bit windows 2003 with the 64bit windows 2003 also .

I have configured Oracle Discoverer 10.1.2.0.2 upgraded its version using patch 5983622 on our Production server(227) that has forms and web on it.
Now we also have production server(228) that has forms and web on it and we want to configure the Oracle discoverer 10.1.2.0.2 on 228 server .
With same url that has been deployed on 227 server(ie:http://idfcstandby.idfc.com:7777/discoverer/plus)
I am little confused with your words production server(228) production server(227) but if you meant you have one discovered server and you want to use it wiht same link on both server than yes its possible. Wiht one disco installation you can use same link more than 1 server

I have Oracle EE 11.1.0.7.0 running on Windows 2003 x64 server plus ASM, and I want to apply patch 5, so that it becomes 11.1.0.7.5.
I came to know from Oracle Support Services, Windows patche comes as bundled patchset, but I am not sure which patch to apply, there are 38 of them. Is 11.1.0.7.5P the correct one?.

I have applied this patch 38 for Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 on Windows 2003 x64 bit server today but the database version from v$version didn't change at all and still its showing 11.1.0.7.0, I expected it to show 11.1.0.7.5.
Any suggestions.

and i saw the log file of the installtion but its very complex and saying some Unexpected error occured and showing some coding. any suggestions about this. thanks in advance.

OAS 4.0.8.1 was never certified on W2K and is in fact a desupported version of OAS. I would strongly suggest migrating to the just released 9i Application Server v. 9.0.2.

Oracle Secure Backup 10.3.0.3.0 in Windows 2003 with IBM Tape Not Working

I am currently implementing Oracle Secure Backup. My environment is this:
OS: Windows Server 2003 (32Bit) for all servers
Database: Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0
Tape Library: IBM-ULT 3580-TD4
I will have to configure 2 machines to work with OSB: server01 and server02.
Server01:
This serves as the client, admin, mediaserver
Server02:
This will serve as the client, admin
When I log in to Server01, in the device manager, I can see the Tape Drives (no warnings, no questions marks) so I think it's good.
When I log in to Server02, in the device manager, there are no Tape Drives seen. Is is ok or shall i configure the IBM Tape drives to be also accessible since this is just the client, admin host?
Also I have noticed that when I installed the OSB in Server02 (client,admin), when I am on the SCSI Devices, i dont see any tape device (since its not in the device manager). Because of this i cannot start OSB Services and cannot add this host to the mediaserver.
Also, I am having issues Configuring the Library and the devices. I have read the official documentation completely but i think its very general and it does not present the detailed step-by-step process in installing and configuring OSB.
When I issued: lsdev -lvg in the mediaserver , I can read an error: Warning: bus info unknown or drive not installed.
Help is very much appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!

Oracle Services are not removed from system (10g, on Windows 2003)

I haven't used Oracle on Windows Os before and not sure what to do.
Here is what happened
1- I installed 10g on windows 2003 server, created a database with service name OPER
2- I was unhappy with the installation and removed it.
3- then I installed Oracle 10g software again, creating a database again which has name IZROPER
now, there are two of every oracle service in the services.msci
service names containing the first db's (OPER) are still showing up in services, how can I remove them?

In regedit mode --> HKLM -> SYSTEM -- currentcontrol set --> services --> here Oracle services are avilable , you can delete from here.

Oracle 10g Universe Connectivity From 64bit Windows 2003 Server

Hi,
Have an existing BO XI 3.1 environment built on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server and
I'm having problems getting it to communicate with Oracle 10g universes. Works fine
with its SQL Server 2005 repository and SQL Server 2005 relational/olap universes, but
cant seem to get it to work with Oracle.
Universes work fine on the 32 bit development environment talking to the same Oracle
database, but when move them to 64 bit testing environment they all fail with
Oracle ora-12154 errors.
32 bit Oracle client is installed and can communicate fine with other products using ODBC
connections from the server - but BO refuses to communicate.
Any ideas other than reinstalling BO under 'Program Files' rather than 'Program Files (x86)'
as I've seen some references on the web about this possibly being a problem?

Oracle 32 bit and 64 bit connectivity work fine from the server. The problem seems to
relate to bug 3807408 in Oracle 10g that cant handle parentheses in directory names.
So BO being installed in u2018C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objectsu2019 causes it to get
rather annoyed.
SAP Note 1202730 does cover this, but our DBA's aren't too keen on installing the
suggested patch. I'm also not very keen on reinstalling BO in a different directory as
we've got working production sites that would have to be rebuilt.
So now investigating whether using the Oracle 11g client will resolve this.

Upgrading Oracle 9.2 (32bit Windows 2000) to 10.2 (64bit Windows 2003)

Hello all,
We currently run SolMan v3.1 on aged 32bit hardware and we plan to upgrade this to SolMan v4 on a new 64bit infrastructure. As part of this task, we would also like to move from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 x64 and from Oracle 9.2 to Oracle 10.2
The current situation is that the new server is built to Windows 2003 x64 level only. Nothing else is installed on the new server at this time. My plan was to install Oracle 9.2 and SolMan 3.1 and then take a system copy of the existing database and then upgrade it to SolMan v4 and Oracle 10.2 (leaving the old system as-is for recovery reasons, should we run into problems).
Has anyone any experience of doing this in a Windows and Oracle environment who could help me with getting this right?

Hi all,
As this is a fairly low-priority upgrade, we decided to try to experiment a little to try to avoid the ORacle 9 to 10 upgrade. We decided upon the following approach:
1) Install Windows 2003 x64 (on new server)
2) Install Oracle 10.2 x64
3) Install SolMan v3.1
4) Export existing SolMan v3.1 database (from existing server)
5) Import existing SolMan v3.1 database (onto new server)
6) Upgrade to SolMan v4
We have installed Oracle 10.2 and applied 10.2.0.2 Patchset 1 and all seemed okay. We are now installing SolMan v3.1, but SAPinst crashes out after specifying the SAP system directory and transport host and just before starting the database-dependent cations. The error message is:
<b>ERROR: MDB-06168. Oracle is not installed on this host. Install Oracle before continuing.</b>
Oracle definitely IS installed, but it appears that SAPInst for SolMan v3.1 may be too old to recognise Oracle 10.2.
I thought I'd ask for advice before I go and butcher the KEYDB.XML and ORADBPAR.XML files. (It's only a test install!)

There was a bug logged on this same issue Bug No. 2163235 from a customer.
Have you tried some of the following troubleshooting techniques:
1. After you've selected the set of books form from the menu, is the Applications processing anything or just no response? Any error message at the bottom of the left hand side corner of the screen at all?
2. Have you tried to regenerate the set of books form (GLXSTBKS.fmx)?
3. Can you open up any other setup form? Like the Journal Categories (Setup->Journals->Categories) or Journal Sources form (Setup->Journals->Sources)?
4. If there are no error messages at all and you are able to open up other forms in GL, and have already set up a calendar and chart of accounts to be used for a set of books, have you recompiled all invalid objects and regenerated the GLXSTBKS form as well as all forms via adadmin?
5. If you go to the directory $GL_TOP/forms/US/, does the file GLXSTBKS.fmx exists and has the correct permission (execute and read)?
6. What if you change to a different GL responsibility, such as General Ledger SuperUser? Does the set of books form come up?
7. Can you try using the Vision Demo database with the GL Super User responsibility? The form function should be assigned to the GL Concurrent Request data group. (From System Administrator Responsibility, open the Define Responsibilities form to see what data group is assigned to the GL responsibility).

Performance on Oracle 10g x64 and ECC5.0 (640 x64) on Windows 2003 R2 x64

We have a serious problem with this landscape. SAP kernel updated to 155. Oracle updated with OPatch to patch 12 (latest) and the new database statistics were updated. It seems an IO degradation because the Average Disk Queue is very high. We tested the hardware and it performs very well compared to other solutions. In the mean time we talked to the support from SAP and they didn't find any problems on configuration of parameters and recomended to turn off AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB in Oracle, but the performance is still low. Does anyone tested/implemented these versions together?

If no configuration problem is found even after getting SAP involved, I suggest you re-examine the hardware.
Poor I/O performance is often indication of I/O hardware problem. In the case on Windows platform, please check Windows event log. If you find ANY 'Event ID 9' or Event ID 11' errors, you can almost certain to conclude disk/disk-controller is defective. Please note that Windows does NOT alway write such message when I/O problem occurs.
I find that I/O problem is more common on Windows platform because Windows servers often have less hardware diagnostic features and less direct support from manufactures.

I strongly suggest to upgrade to AS 10.1.3 to get this.
Think of future support of AS 9.0.4. You will get not critical patch updates anymore.

Language issue on Oracle Application Server Portal

Hello,
I have a application running on Oracle Application Server Portal. It is deployed on Win 2003 server(prod server). There is a language option to jump from english to arabic and arabic to english and the application is working on production server for both the languages but on some client machines the default page loaded is in english and on some client machine the default page loaded is in arabic. When we try to change the language from either of the languages it gives a message "Page cannot be displayed".
Please help me in solving this issue.

Page cannot be displayed is one of the common problems, like fever. Please see application.log, apache error log to see any more specific reason for page cannot be displayed error. Look for any possible 'infection' which may have caused this 'fever', if you see what I am saying.
