Oracle Application 10g migration

Hi,
Currently we are using 10g Application server. I just want to create the roadmap for our product. So I want to know, whether we can migrate 10g forms/reports on 11g forms/reports and deploy on Oracle application server 11g?
Oracle application server 11g, supports to forms and reports server?
Regards,
Jaymala

Yes you will be able to do that (migrate/upgrade your 10g Forms & Reports applications to 11g Forms & Reports) and deploy on Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g.
Note that FMW 11g release having Forms & Reports is not yet out. I am not sure about the exact time frame but it is expected to be out sometime this calendar year.
Thanks

  • Oracle reports 6i to Oracle forms 10g migration

    Hi,
I have .rdf files which were created on Oracle Reports 6i. I would like to migrate the .rdf files into Oracle Reports module which is present as a part of Oracle Forms 10g to generate PDF output.
Please let me know the detailed steps to be followed as I am a total newbie. Also I need to generate these reports on demand from a java 5 application (JSF 2.0).
Currently for ORacle reports 6i, I have the following code in my java application
    rwrun60.exe g:\tomcat33\webapps\reports\web-inf\src\null userid=***/*** destype=FILE desformat="pdf" paramform=NO printjob=NO batch=YES desname=temp.pdf
    1. What would be the equivalent for reports in ORacle Forms 10g ? I know there is an Oracle Apps server where ther report services reside. How to I invoke my report from my java application (residing on a weblogic server 10.3.6)?
    2. What ould I do with the 6i .rdf files to upgrade them to 10g ?

I am trying to call an Oracle report i.e .rdf (which is located on the Oracle  App Server) from my java EE 5 (JSF) application. The Oracle  App server is Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. I assume Oracle report generation capability is available in this release.  I need to invoke the report from my Java JSF application on demand (whenever the user clicks a button on the web browser page, the report should appear on the browser as PDF) . My java application resides on Linux weblogic server.
Please let me know how it can be done ? I see rwclient.sh and another method to directly invoke using a URL. How do I do it on java, would a request.redirect() to the URL work ?
Also for hiding the params in the URL. keys need to be configured on the Oracle server right ?
Also if we use rwclient.sh or the URL based invocation, would there be any issue in concurrency when multiple users request the same report at the same time ?

  • Oracle Application Hardware Migration using Acronis

    Hi,
I’m an Oracle Applications DBA and would really appreciate some other DBA input on the following question.
I have a customer that uses Acronis to backup, restore and image Oracle Applications. Their current instance (11.5.6) is running on really old kit. As a test the windows guys have restored oracle Apps onto a brand new server and started the services. This has worked, which is to be expected (that’s what Acronis does).
My question is “Does Oracle support this method of hardware migration using Acronis”. My understanding is that for hw migration either autoconfig or export+import were the only Supported options.
I know that 11.5.6 is unsupported and come to mention it so is their OS and the fact that they use images as clones. This aside I would be interested in other opinions on weather Acronis is strictly for restoring/imaging a duff system or in fact weather it would be supported by Oracle for Hardware migration. ( With some reasoning please).
I have checked metalink with only one hit (643276.992) but this does not directly answer my question
Thanks in advance to anyone who can reply to this.
    Cheers
    James

  • Running Forms on oracle Application 10g(9.0.4) on terminal Server

oracle application Server Installation guide for windows states that
Oracle Application Server is not supported on Windows operating systems that
include Terminal Services (for example, Windows NT Terminal Server Edition and
Windows 2000 with Terminal Services are not supported).
My Remarks : It means Oracle Application server cannot be installed on the Windows server on which Windows Terminal Services are on.
Please consider the following deployment scenario
    Server 1
    OS : Windows 2000
Software Installed : Oracle Database 10g
    Server 2
    OS : Windows 2000
Software Installed : Oracle Application Server 10g(9.0.4) on which Forms and Reports are deployed
    Server 3
OS : Windows 2000 as Terminal Server
Software Installed : IE 6.0 , that will act as Client Machine.
    I have following Queries
    1. Oracle does not allow OAS installed on Terminal Server, will it allow Terminal Server( Server 3) to act as Client and to run web base forms and reports on it.
    2.
In case It allow to run forms and reports on Terminal Server ( Server 3) does it means thin client machines connected to Terminal Sever can access Forms and Reports.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ankur Diwan

The bottom line is that we don't certify running Forms using the features of a terminal server to serve up any part of those Forms. That doesn't mean it does not work, but its not certified or supported.

  • Is the xml gateway one part of oracle application server 10g

If I buy the oracle application 10g server, does it include the xml gateway?

No it does not include XML gateway. It includes XDK and Workflow among others, but no XML gateway.

  • Re-install Oracle application (OID)

    Hi all,
I have Oracle application 10G already installed on the server running as specified PORT (not default 389). there was an issue (long story) so I blew everything away and re-install.
when I re-install Oracle app, even I specify to use the port in staticports.ini file but for some reason, it's use different port rather than the port I have in statisports.ini. from the installation process, I found that Oracle start opmn and it said already started which I don't understand (I already shut opmn down, the database down- blew eeverything away before the re-installalation).
How can I be sure that Oracle app use the port I want to use now?
    thanks

Are you sure that no process is listening on port 389?
You can check that with netstat.
If you are running on windows, check the registry.

  • Migrating from Weblogic to Oracle Application Server 10g

    Hello,
To respond to this post you will need some basic familiarity with Weblogic.
I am currently using Weblogic Server 8.1.
I have an admin machine which is on its own physical hardware, and multiple managed servers. The admin server is a single point of management for all of the managed servers. Each managed server lies on it's own physical hardware and are managed remotely from the admin server.
Does Oracle Application Server have this type of architecture?
Lets say I have salesApp.ear and I want to deploy it across multiple physical machines, where would I administer the various physical machines from, and how would I create an instance on each machine?
Would it be an oc4j instance or an AS instance? What is the difference?

    Forget about this!
You need a JEE5 server to work with 11g.
In theory you can develop application for OAS 10.1.3.1 but you must be very very careful which components you use. One new component and you are not able to run it on OAS 10.1.3.1
If you have to run your apps on OAS 10.1.3.1 stay with JDEV 10g.

  • Problem migrating ear from Oracle AS 10g to 11g.

    Hi
I need to deploy an ear file in Oracle AS 11g. The ear has war in it.

    2) Went to 'Deployments' page and clicked on 'Install'.
    3) Entered the path for the ear file and pressed 'Next'

  • Oracle Application Server 10g/Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

Hi folks, This question related to migration/upgrade of Oracle Application Server infrastructure.
I see that the Oracle has come up with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Is it the next release of Oracle Application Server 10g. I have the following questions. Appreciate if any one can provide answers to the following questions. Please correct me if my understanding of these oracle products is not right! Thanks
    1. What is the future of Oracle Application Server?
    2. Is it Oracle Fusion Middleware(OFM) 11g is the upgrade path if one need
    to upgrade?
    3. Is it expected that expected that customers need(if require) to move to OFM 11g?
    4. Does OFM 10g comes with Oracle Application Server? If not what does
    it comes with?
    5. If it does not, what about customers having applications built using oracle forms and reports? Does OFG 11g
    support Oracle forms and reports?
I understand that OFM 10g comes with Oracle web logic server!
    Thanks in advance.
    movva

To run Forms and Reports in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g you have to use the distribution "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer" in the FMW 11g software pack.
The structure of what we used to call "the application server" has changed a bit however, in the following way:
    - In 11g you need to install the Javaserver WebLogic software (version 10.3.3 for the current Forms 11g version 11.1.1.3) first.
In 10g the installation of the Javaserver (OC4J) was part of the App server install.
Note that you just have to install the software, the configuration script for creating a Forms app server instance creates the WebLogic domain (comparable with the OC4J instance) for you.
    - In 11g the Fusion Middleware software installation is separate from the creation of an application server instance.
This is more convenient and comparable to Oracle database and Weblogic installation.
    - The Fusion Middleware Configuration script installs two parts of the product: 1. A WebLogic Domain. 2. A Fusion Middleware instance.
The first contains everything related to Java, such as the servlet configuration file (formsweb.cfg), while the latter contains everything that has less to do with the Javaserver
    - No more Infrastructure server
The Infrastructure server does not exist anymore. If you want to use Single Sign On with Forms/Reports 11g you can install Identity Management 10.1.4.3 (or use Identity Management 11g, and configure separately the 10.1.4.3 Single Sign On) or keep your old 10g Infrastructure installation.
During installation you just have to specify you want to use OID and SSO and it configures out of the box.
Under normal circumstances the same licenses apply to 10g and 11g (as long as you do not use WebLogic for other purposes).

  • Forms 4.5 Migration to Oracle Forms 10g

    Hi All,
I want to know abt migration steps i.e. i 'm doing migration of Oracle Forms 4.5 to Oracle Forms 10g. Then existing forms is on Windows NT based environment and the database is Oracle 8.
What is the better way to approach this issue? Whether, directly open the existing Forms into Oracle Forms 10g or first open the form into Forms 6i and then after 10g?
Tell me the System Specification.... Database version.... Which Application Server is suitable.... And whether the Oracle 9i database possible for Forms 10g or not.
    Pls Give me solution.

4.5 to 10g (strictly speaking is not supported) but should work ok - Generally speaking you just open your Forms in the 10g builder and compile. You should check out otn.oracle.com/formsupgrade which gives you some good pointers including the Forms built-in procedures that have be desupported and removed from the product.
4.5 -> 6i -> 10g was the supported route (but even 6i is desupported now).

And whether the Oracle 9i database possible for Forms

  • How to do Oracle Forms 4.5 migration to Oracle Forms 10g

    Hi All !
I will start a process in order to migrate our currently Forms/Reports 4.5 application to Oracle 10g (Forms/Reports 10g). I need to know in order to begin this process.
For example: What Oracle Application Server my customers needs to buy ? and about licenses that they need to have ? What are the Basic Steps to follow? And Related Information.
    HELP me.
    Thank you

It is a Migration to 6i, then to 10g or 11g. This will take you about 1-1.5 days per form Manually (Migration Assistant is used to help on the 6i to 10g/11g portion). There is a lot of changes that need to be considered, and this is a very daunting task, especially from 4.5. You need to change all of the Forms from Character Mode to Real for one. There are are over 160 statements that have either changed or have been de-supported (This means won't work now, not like the 3.0 commands that worked through 9i).
There is a tool that my company offers that can do the 4.5 -> 10g/11g Upgrade is as little as 5 days (No matter how many forms/reports you have). I don't mean to advertise, but it is the only thing on the market that does this. www.pitssamerica.com is the site and PITSS.con is the tool. Look at this.

  • How to Migrate Oracle Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2

Hi I would like to find information on what is necessary to do in order to migrate Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.
Do I need to use Oracle Migration assistant ?
Is it enough only compile forms ?
Where I find documentation on how to execute this migration. I am only find documentatio to migrate from 6i to 10g, but I need documentation to migrate from Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.

    Hi,
Thank you for the answer about Oracle forms.
Now I would like ask another question but this time for Oracle Application Server. As we have Oracle forms 10g 9.0.4 we also use the Application Server with this same version.
Do you have any recommendations on how to Migrate the Oracle Application Server from 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2 ?
    Thank you .

  • Migration of Oracle Application Server

I want to migrate my Oracle application Server 10g 9.0.4 from RHEL 3.0 U4 to RHEL 3.0 U5. My oracle application server is running a portal application and it is also runnins as webserver. Since the existing setup has some performance issue i want to redeploy the applications again but portal users ( 600 + )created in the existing setup has to be migrated in the new setup.
Please give me some inputs in doing that...
    Thanks,

If anybody has any helpful info on this topic, I am looking for the same.... to migrate my Windows-based IAS installation to Linux instead.
There is a backup and recovery function built into the IAS Enterprise Manager, but I am uncertain if cross-platform restores are supported or not.

  • Oracle Application R12.1.1 Migration from Solaris to Linux 64-bit

    Hi,
    Our existing System:
    On Solaris 9:
    Database 10.2.0.2
    EBS 11.5.10.2
We are planning to Upgrade the system to
    Database 11.2.0.3
    EBS R12.1.3
We also want to migrate to RHEL 5 64-bit.
Please let me know if you have experience with respect to the following issues:
    1. Can I use *Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 438086.1]* as reference for my scenario? The document mentions that only Windows is supported as the source platform.
    2. When they copy APPL_TOP from source to target - how the binaries from source operating system will work on target operating system? Else, are they platform independent?
    3. Will the following approach work?
    a. Migrate 10.2.0.2 database from source (Solaris) to target (RHEL 5 64-bit).
    b. Upgrade 10.2.0.2 database to 11.2.0.3 on target.
    c. Install R12.1.1 in upgrade mode on target.
    d. Retrofit customization.
    e. Upgrade R12.1.1 to R12.1.3
Also can you recommend best practise for Migrating database?
    Thanks in advance.

Note: Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 438086.1) reads: "The instructions in this document are for migration to a target UNIX/Linux platform. At present, Windows is only supported as a source platform."
Note the word SOURCE. So the restriction is Windows cannot be used as a TARGET platform, but other platforms can.
The content of the APPL_TOP is re-used in the Target environment, except for the binaries; these are delivered by applying the "customer-specific update" as in Note : Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 438086.1)
For information on the database migration check Note: 10g Release 2 Export/Import Process for Oracle Applications Release 11i (Doc ID 362205.1) and http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/migrating_ebusiness_suite_databases_between_platfo
The scenario seems OK, but needs to be tested of course.
For information related to upgrading the database for the EBS upgrade check Note: Database Preparation Guidelines for an E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Upgrade (Doc ID 761570.1)
