  • XML Publisher in Oracle Applications - Merge PDFs in Templates

    Requirement,
I have PDF files stored in Huge Blob columns in a oracle apps tables.
I would like to make a single PDF using the XML publisher template to merge all these PDFs into a single PDF file and show the merged PDF file, when user clicks on view output of the concurrent programme.
I am not interesed in using the Java apis provided as of now. I would like to acheive this using only template builder, without any java coding.
Any help would be appreciated on how to build the template. I have tried displaying images and it worked and i am not sure how i can do the samething with PDF files stored in HUGE BLOB columns.
Oracle XML Publisher Version is 5.6.3 which is being used by our Oracle Applications.
    Thanks

  • Minimum resources for Oracle Application Express

    Hi,
I'm new to the forum, and a bit confuse here trying to find an answer to what supposedly is a simple question:
What kind of resources do I have to have to develop and deploy screens with Oracle Application Express?
    The scenario:
I have this Oracle application all created in forms that we are planning to give to our customers in a web based.
I'm looking for options to convert it and many forums are talking about how easy and inexpensive (free) the Oracle Applications Express is.
Then, talking with my main developer, he told me that in order to use it, the client need to spend quite a while in IAS (Oracle's Internet Application Server) and/or have to have the Enterprise version.
I'm looking for white papers on that and could not find any corroboration, but just texts telling that it's free and easy to use.
Any one can point me to the right directions on this issue?
Just want to know what exaclty do I need in order to use (creating and deploying) the Applications Express.
Right now I have Standar Edition 10q as well as my client
    THank you

If you want to develop an intranet web application, the HTTP server that comes with Standard Edition 10q would do. However, if you are thinking of it as an internet application then you better separate DB and web server. In that case you need to have either Oracle HTTP Server or Oracle Application Express Listener. Oracle HTTP server requires a license and usually bundled with DB or an Application Server. I believe Oracle Application Server is no longer being offered/available instead web logic server is made available. The basic edition of web logic would do as all you require is Oracle HTTP Server to broker the requestes between the web and the database. As far as I know, Oracle HTTP server is not being offered standalone. As mentioned above the other alternative is Oracle Application Express Listener but requires one of the J2EE complaint web servers like web logic, Glassfish, OC4J or TOMCAT.
    Hope this helps!

  • Web Services Requirements on Oracle Application Server 10g

Is there any special requirements for deploying Web Services to Oracle Application Server 10g? I can deploy a Hello World Web Service to Oracle 9i 9.0.3 (OC4J + Web Cache) without UDDI but if I try to deploy to Oracle Application Server 10g (OC4J + Web Cache) it does not recognize it as a Web Service? Is UDDI now required for Web Services on 10g?

No. Not only it isn't certified, but it is also impossible to run forms compiled with the 11g compiler with the 10g runtime. For 11g there is a install bundle for the developer suite / application server.

  • Required Trigger To be Oracle Application Forms Customization and its order

    Hi All,
I am new to oracle application forms customization.
    Can you please answer following?
What are the triggers required to be overrided for forms customization in oracle appliocation?
What is the order of trigger event occurrs when forms comes up in Oracle application?
    Thanks
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
There are a number of triggers in Oracle forms. They are basically 4 types
    1. Form level
    2. Block Level
    3. Record Level
    4. Item Level
    Again there are subclassifications.
The firing sequence depends on your action. If you make a change in an item and save the item level triggers fire for the item you changed. Then the record level triggers fire. However if you are click in an item(you are technically navigating to the item) the record level(when new record instance-WNRI) fires and then the item level trigger(when-new-item-instance WNII) fires.
So it depends on the situation. Look in the forms tool help sections. The have some good discussions there.
Now to 'override' triggers. I am assuming you plan to extend oracle standard forms. The best way to do this is use the CUSTOM.pll. Oracle forms call this .pll in various triggers such as WNRI, WNII etc. You can add your logic here and it will take effect and will be upgrade safe. Nowadays they have forms personalization. Take a look at this also to determine the best way.
You may want to read the Application developers guide from metalink and they have a good discussion there on forms customization. It also talks about the CUSTOM.pll
The scope of forms is huge and you would be better of taking a
    1. Forms course
    2. quick look through the forms section of the developer's guide and understand the concepts
    3. Honing on the customizations you want to do and start working on that specific component.
    4. Look in Metalink which has a lot of info on forms and forms forums.
This is actually a Framework forum which deals with Web applications :-)

  • Minimun database version required for oracle application 12.1.3

We are palnning to upgrade from our current applications version 12.0.4 to 12.1.3
We understand it will done in 2 phases ie 12.0.4 - 12.1.1 and 12.1.1 to 12.1.3
but our current database version is 10.2.0.4
My question here is can we upgrade applications to 12.1.3 without upgrading database?
or shall we upgarde atleast to 10.2.0.5 first and then proceed with applications upgrade and then plan for database upgrade to 11g release 2 later.
Please suggest me with proper approach. To upgrade my current environment with oracle application 12.0.4 with database 10.2.0.4 to oracle apllications 12.1.3
    Thanks in advance
    pavan

We infact are upgrading even our database to 11.2.0.3, but database upgrade will be done by other organisation as our client has outsoursed database support to other organisation.
We have to do only application upgrade from 12.0.4 to 12.1.3, however we have access to database to upgrade it to 10.2.0.5 if required, So my question here is can we proceed upgrading application to 12.1.3 without upgrading the database. (can i use 10.2.0.4 database with 12.1.3)Please see your other thread, I have already answered you.
    Thanks,

  • Minimum system requirements for installing Oracle Application Testing Suite

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what are the minimum system requirements for intalling Oracle Application Testing Suite?
    Thanks in Advance

    From the release notes (12.1.0.2).
    System Requirements
Oracle Application Testing Suite has the following system requirements:
    4
    3.1 Oracle Functional Testing/OpenScript
Oracle Functional Testing’s OpenScript scripting platform has the following system
    requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008
    ■ Memory: Minimum 1 GB
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 4 GB minimum
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x., 9.x and Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x
    3.2 Oracle Load Testing
Oracle Load Testing has the following system requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2. Oracle Enterprise
    Linux 5.1, 5.2 64, 4u8.
    ■ Memory: Minimum 2 GB.
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 10 GB minimum free (at least 3 GB free on the system drive)
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x
    ■ Database: Oracle EE 10g or 11g, XE 10g
    ■ Application Server: Oracle WebLogic 11g (10.3.5.0). Oracle Application Testing
Suite requires the standard WebLogic Server installation (which includes jrocket
jdk.). It does not support generic versions of WebLogic Server installation (such as
    those that use wls1035_generic.jar).
    ■ Oracle Load Testing Agent also supported on Linux 32-bit & 64-bit, in addition to
Windows 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems listed above
Note: These are minimum requirements only and actual
requirements for the Oracle Load Testing Server will vary depending
on the size and configuration of your load test. If you are running
larger load tests, of greater than 1000 Virtual Users, you should
consider deploying Oracle Load Testing on a faster server class
    machine with additional RAM recommended.
Note: Oracle recommends running the Oracle Load Testing Server
and Agents on separate systems for production load testing. The
amount of memory required on the Oracle Load Testing Agent
systems may increase based on the number of Virtual Users that will
be assigned to run on each Agent. For more information, visit the
QA/Testing Technology Center on Oracle Technology Network or
    contact your Oracle representative.
    5
    3.3 Oracle Test Manager
Oracle Test Manager has the following system requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2. Oracle Enterprise
    Linux 5.1, 5.2, 4u8.
    ■ Memory: Minimum 2 GB.
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 10 GB minimum free (at least 3 GB free on the system drive)
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x
    ■ Database: Oracle EE 10g or 11g, XE 10g
    ■ Application Server: Oracle WebLogic 11g (10.3.5.0). Oracle Application Testing
Suite requires the standard WebLogic Server installation (which includes jrocket
jdk.). It does not support generic versions of WebLogic Server installation (such as
    those that use wls1035_generic.jar).
    3.4 Additional Notes
The following are additional notes about system requirements:
    ■ The ATS installer can automatically install and configure an Oracle 10g Express
Edition (XE) database for use with Oracle Load Testing and Oracle Test Manager.
Although this is useful for demos, for production usage switching to Oracle's 11g
Enterprise Edition database is highly recommended. Oracle 11g Standard Edition
and Oracle 10g EE or SE are also supported.
    ■ System memory requirements do not take into account other processes that may
be running and using memory on your system, reducing free uncommitted
    memory available.
    ■ When installed on the same machine, Oracle Load Testing and Oracle Test
Manager will run on the same server and use shared system resources. Oracle
Functional Test/OpenScript is a separate application that have its own memory
    and CPU requirements.
    ■ The ATS products will run in 32-bit compatibility mode when installed on 64-bit
operating systems. It is possible for Oracle Application Testing Suite to be installed
on an existing WebLogic server. However, if the pre-installed WebLogic server is
JRockit plus WebLogic (64-bit) environment, some functions in Oracle Application
Testing Suite will not work properly. Oracle Application Testing Suite can be
    installed on a 32-bit WebLogic, but not a 64-bit.
    ■ The legacy Oracle Functional Testing, VB-based scripting platform and associated
components (such as Job Scheduler) are no longer included with the ATS installer
Note: These are minimum requirements only and actual
requirements for Oracle Test Manager will vary depending on the
quantity of test assets stored and number of concurrent users
accessing the application. If you have a large quantity of test cases,
requirements or issues stored and/or are deploying Oracle Test
Manager for a team greater than 10 users, you should consider
deploying Oracle Test Manager on a faster server class machine with
    additional RAM recommended.

Any installation of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) on OEL 5.x or RHEL 5.x in which Reports is getting installed will fail with reports relinking errors unless you apply the required RPM listed below. You may download the RPM package from the following location:

  • Report does not display data in Oracle Applications

I created a custom report and registered the same under Oracle Order Entry. The report uses 1 parameter and whereas everything is registered in Oracle apps. correctly, the report draws a blank upon completion. The only visible thing is the header part.
This report though works fine if run directly from Reports Designer.
Anybody know what specific setting (if required) needs to be made in Oracle Applications? Further in order that you can know the picture, whatever is enclosed in the Repeating Frame does not show up in App. but as pointed earlier works just fine from Reports Designer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using a browser (FireFox v2) based InfoView so I guess it is the DHTML viewer.
On the server it is java (Tomcat). The report uses a custom driver (crdb_ado).
Currently all the servers (RAS, page, cache etc) are running under LocalSystem account. I don't understand what a domain account is, is it administrator?
The interesting part is, I was able to upload and run 8 other reports before I experienced this problem. Have I hit some limit?
I appreciate your help. Please share any other ideas/insights on this issue.
