Oracle applications training - Functional

Hi All,
Could someone suggest regarding the Oracle apps functional training. I have worked on testing business flows (order to cash, Procure to pay, Invoice to cash etc). I worked on different modules like AP, AR, GL, PO & OM.
But, I am not pretty sure about the setup level in any of the modules as I have been testing only the flows and not the setups.
Could someone suggest what is the best way to start learning functional. I wanted to request for Functional training in my Org.
Kindly suggest me, because I do not know much accounting knowledge as such.
Do I need any pre-requisites for these training. Please suggest how can i start ?

My office is interested in learning the exact implementation and uses of Oracle's Fixed Assets. We are located in Kennett Square, PA. We were curious of if there is a charge and if so what this cost would be for us to be trained. In total there are 5 people that would need training.

You're in the wrong forum for this question really...however to address one of your questions -
Is it worth spending Rs 1.73 Lacs for Manufacturing module.This really is a question that only you can answer......do you feel it will be worthwhile for you to take the training?

How to register ADF pages in Oracle Applications 11.5.10 or 12

Hi,
I have created an ADF application with JSF pages. Now I want to register this application into Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2 or Release 12.
Any idea how can I do this? Is that possible now?

What I mean is once we deploy the application in R12 say OC4J with J2EE compliance, whatever, how to register this new application with the Oracle Applications like OA framework does?
This should be similar to hoiw u register any other custom jsp, although I haven't tried it in R12 after you have deployed your ADF page.To be clear, How can we use the Oracle Applications Menu/Function security to launch the ADF application?
You would not be able to use seeded Oracle apps features in your ADF application like global links, flexfields etc, because Apps still does not provide AOL/J layer for ADF applications.This is only for OAF/JTT/JTf applications.But your custom application can be launched like other pages from apps function. I am still 100% sure....(But should be possible as per the techstack features) I have to try this... once I get time :)!--Mukul

Emca conflict with Oracle Applications

Hai all,
Recently I upgraded my DB to 10.2.0.3.0 ...and when I used the following command to recreate the repository :
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
Oracle Applications stopped functioning ... I could'nt execute any commands ...then I ended up killing all the applprod sessions at the OS level..stopped the repository recreation ..and then bounced the applicaitons and it worked fine ?.. why is this happening ?...Am I not allowed to execute the above command while the DB and application is up ?
Any comments ?

Are you able to run the following?

How to call java function from PL/sql in oracle applications

I am trying to call a java function from plsql procedure. Can any one explain how to call java function, and in which directory I have to store my java function in oracle applications. Do I need to register that java function from Application developer.

You can call function in e.g. computations, validations and process like you call it in SQL sheet.
Process example to get value to variable from function sending item value as parameter

Need free Oracle Applications 11i technical Tutorials

Hi All,
I've been learning Oracle Application (technical) and need some pointers from you regarding Technical Tutorials.
I've gone through some of the basic tutorials of Oracle Applications and now looking for websites/resources for techical tutorials which can be practiced on Oracle 11i Demo( vision) instance.
Please let me know the resources/pdfs/links where these concepts are explained in a sequential manner as I'm already confused with what to read and what not to read after surfing the net. At the same time, some of the tutorials I found on internet are for Functional training and this created further confusion as I couldn't distinguish between functional & Technical material.
It is not my intend to get hold of every thing, but want to have a fair understanding of Apps & an opportunity to explore/learn other things when I work on projects. So, looking for a course material of 30 - 80 hrs. duration. ( Am I too selective? :) )
Last but not least, I don't have Metalink account and hence need resouces which are free of cost.
Request you all to help me and find me the right resources!

what kind of treinament you find? A techical/functional treinament, a user application treinament.
If techinal treinament, the bookshelf is the better document to find information. You can use the forum, sites and Oracle Metalink to find you doubts.
If user application treinament, where user use the application and find about how to execute a process, you can use IHelp or your company can use Oracle UPK (User Productivity Key). You can create treinament in this tool and your users can acess the treinaments.

Oracle Workflow is a de-supported product (except in EBS ) - so Oracle Education will not offer any training in this area. You will have to look for other private firms that can offer such training.

Emulating Oracle Applications Environment in BI Publisher Enterprise Server

I think I know what the answer is going to be to this post but for reasons outwith my control I'm trying to understand if there is a workaround to achieve the resultant report output I require.
Background
Oracle E-Business on Demand 11.5.10.2
Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.2
My client has Oracle E-Biz on Demand but rather than utilising the integrated XML Publisher engine they have gone down the path of installing BI Publisher Standalone Enterprise Server for their report generation.
Now this works to an extent but I am experiencing problems trying to emulate the setting of an Apps context when I run a report so that I can utilise the Apps security within the Stanalone Enterprise Server. Is this even possible?
Example, basing a data model on PO_VENDOR_SITES (multi-org view) returns 0 (zero) rows but basing it on PO_VENDOR_SITES_ALL returns all rows (for all Orgs).
I can hear you all now yelling, "Use the Oracle Applications XML Publisher" version but in this "On Demand" arena that practice hasn't been adopted so i am raising this post in the hope that someone may be able to suggest a workaround or solution.
Actually, no BI Publisher security model has been adopted and all users use the GUEST account to run reports.

Gary, create a data template and call your own db function to initialise these. The beforeReport trigger will fire and set the enviro prior to the query being executed (as in Reports) Something like this below:

I have problem with deployment of my customised module in oracle applications

Hai,
I have started working with oracle application just recently as I started to customise Forms & Reports.
If I am developing forms and reports from the existing modules it is working fine.
But as we can develop our own customized module in oracle applications.I did the following steps for the same..
This is in Rel.11.0.28
1.I registered my own schema in the back-end.
2.then registered the same in AOL.
3.Registered the custom application in the Aol.
4.while registering gave the Base Path..XX_top.
5.Defined Datagroup with APPS as the user ID.
6.created the directories in the server..oa\applprod\custom_app_name\11.0.28\us\
6.went to the environment file ...it is Prod.en
7.gave the base path.
8.restarted the server.
9.created forms based on my schema tables & views
10.generated the forms
11.pasted them in the base path directory
...and then did all the registrations in aol.and allocated the menu to the concerned responsibility and that to the user.
Now the problem is ...
when I am logging in to the coressponding user..
it is getting logged in..
I can see my menu..
but the function i.e. the form is not getting opened.
I am not able to understand where the problem is lying...please if any one could solve the problem it would be highly appreciated.

Not familiar w/ 11.0.28, but if this is on NT, I've found you need to add your xx_top path to the appropriate place in the NT registry.
