Oracle Apps Cloning
Hi,
One of my customers has this situation. He has an Apps instance running in Taipei and he is accessing the applications from the US. This makes the applications run very slow on the end-user side. Would it help to create a new instance in the US and keep it in-sync with the one in Taipei. Could you also provide what would I need to achieve this.
Thanks,
Vijay.
Try to clone the app layer to US and keep the DB in Taipei. It's essentially a multi-node setup and it may improve the the performance a little. You can also try to optimize the network side of it (e.g. VPN to Taipei or use Citrix solution, etc). I personally don't like the idea of syncing two instances because it'll generate more issues than solving the problems (e.g. backup, how to sync, resources, maintance, etc).
My 2 cents.

Hi
I tried to run the preclone in source system in both apps&db tier. Its successfully ran. After that i tried to copy the source system files to target system using scp command: scp -p -r d01.tar.gz root@ipadress: /path. I specified which files are copying to the target system, but that d01.tar.gz files not copying instead os files are copying to the target system, So please give me the solution.
Note:above cloning steps are single-node.
Regards
DHi,
Do you have the file you are trying to copy under the current user directory?
After that i tried to copy the source system files to target system using scp command: scp -p -r d01.tar.gz root@ipadress: /pathThe correct syntax to run scp command is as follows:
scp [options] [[user@]host1:]filename1 ... [[user@]host2:]filename2Man scp
http://unixhelp.ed.ac.uk/CGI/man-cgi?scp+1
In Unix, how do I use the scp command to securely transfer files between two computers?

Oracle Apps 11i Cloning with +ASM 10g Database
Hi,
Can somebody help Apps cloning on the issue facing. Please provide in detailed process Apps Cloning with +ASM.
Trying to Clone 11i Apps environment(11.5.10.2) and Db 10.2.0.4. The database is on +ASM.
1. Copied all the application files from SOURCE to TARGET ( source and target are different servers)
2. Database restored from source and the TARGET database is up and running( Database servers TARGET and SOURCE are 2 different servers.
3. As per doc id 230672.1 , preclone was successful in apps and db servers.
ISSUE:
=====
As per doc id 230672.1 , if we run adcfgclone on database server that messedup the database which is running already on the TARGET server, because adcfgclone recreate control files and all which is already intact for us in +ASM.
Question:
======
1. do we still need to do anything on the TARGER database server? if need to run , please provide the detailed steps
2. Do we need to run adcfgclone on apps server? please provide the detailed steps.
Thank You,
Dheeru.Yes, restored and the database is up and running.
Then i ran adcfgclone dbtier on database which messedup whole database. Deleted all the file in ASM disk groups and try to restore the database threw RMAN.
Got new error, Please see below.
In the first run previously i got same error but fixed by creating control_files='+LASR','+FLASH' in pfile, again it's giving same error.
Also pasting PFILE.
Any idea on this.

Hi,
I'm cloning oracle apps R12. I followed metalink document [ID 406982.1]. while i'm coping the application tier files from source to target system,It is showing error that 27 files are not copied. Tried copying through ftp, external device. But in every task of copying, some files didnt copy. Pls tel me the way so that i can copy the apps tier files completely without missing even the single file.
Thanks in Advance. Thanks for ur reply.
>
You can make it tar and can copy it,by the way cant you copy 27 files manualy? In our scenario, we copied through filezilla ftp, the entire VIS folder which is into the u01/oracle path. It takes nearly 12 hours to move the entire VIS folder and finally 27 files has been failed in the queue. again we made a reset and tranfered the 27 files but it failed to reset the queue and i dont know how to find the ftp log.
If we do a manuall copy, it shows an error "symbolic link files cannot be copied".
We also did a tar copy. but we get a error msg as "tar: Error is not recoverable; existing now". We used a command "tar -jc /path/to/your/folder > /path/to/your/backup_file.tar.bz2" to copy as a tar file. -
Various Cloning Ways available in Oracle Apps 12i
Hi All,
I wanted to know what are the various type of possible options available working with Oracle Apps 12i with Database 10g.
Pl confirm if the following are possible :
1. I am having a PROD Instance and one UAT Instance. I wanted to clone only the database of PROD to UAT. I don't want to copy application node.
2. I am having a PROD Instance and one UAT Instance. I wanted to clone only the Application Instance of PROD to UAT. I don't want to copy database node.
Also I would like to know the steps to clone any instance with both application and database node.
Thanx in advance.Hi,
1. I am having a PROD Instance and one UAT Instance. I wanted to clone only the database of PROD to UAT. I don't want to copy application node. You could use a full database export/import or Rapid Clone, but Rapid Clone is easier and faster.
2. I am having a PROD Instance and one UAT Instance. I wanted to clone only the Application Instance of PROD to UAT. I don't want to copy database node. Use Rapid Clone.
Also I would like to know the steps to clone any instance with both application and database node.Refer to (Note: 799735.1 - Rapid Clone Documentation Resources, Release 11i and 12).

Cloning oracle apps environment -- scripting
Just curious.
Does someone here clone oracle apps by just scripting it?You can clone the env using scripts.
Even if rapidclone does most of the work there is still some manual work associated. For ex: Updating workflow tables/Concurrent mgr logs things like that.
So what you need to do is to document every step on the way to a clone and put them together. For ex: You can call an RMAN script to duplicate the database and run some sql scripts to update the tables listed above.
On the Apps side too you can complete most of the steps by putting all the commands in a a batch.
The only part that has to be done manually is editing the concurrent managers to run on the new node. -

HassanDear Hussein / helios ,
it worked finally i gave a high number 76 and it worked with out any problem also this time i gave loop back adapter an ip address i just remember now that i was not giving an ip to my loop back adapter i gave as below
ip : 10.10.10.10
subnet : 255.255.255.0
and made my host file look like as
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.10.10 hassan.com hassan
then i tested the ping by pinging hassan.com and the reply came from 10.10.10.10
and also i disabled my wireless network card before running adcfgclone
and it worked ALLHAMDOLLILAH :)
Thanks to the great masters Hussein & Helios :)
Now its time for appsTier cloning hope that it goes smooth :)

Regards
Mohammed.Nikki,
Check alert<SID>.log file for more details about the error.
It looks like that the source database was not cleanly shutdown before copying the files to the target node. Please do the following and check then:
SQL> connect / as sysdba
SQL> startup mount;
SQL> recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
-- type CANCEL
SQL> alter database open resetlogs; If the above does not help, then shutdown the source database normally (make sure it is down), re-copy the files and start the cloning process again. -
Custom D2k form not displayed correctly in Oracle Apps 12.1.1
Hi,
I have created a custom form for Oracle Apps 12.1.1 using Oracle Forms 10g. This form was registered on DEV instance and it was working fine there. Recently the DEV instance is refreshed by cloning CRP2 instance. I used FNDLOAD to download the settings for my custom menu, function and form settings into LDT files. Also copied custom form FMB file.
I uploaded my setting for menu, function and form from LDT files using FNDLOAD on the DEV1 instance (refreshed DEV) and copied FMB file to custom top location and regenerated the FMX using frmcmp_batch command. The FMX is created successfully.
Now when i am opening this form, the form appears but the controls/items on the form are not appearing correctly.
I tested the same form on an another instance TST (cloned vision instance) using the same process i did on DEV1 instance then there it is displaying correctly but not on DEV1.
Can anybody help..
Thanks

Load Balancing & Fault tolerance in Oracle Apps
Hello
I am pretty new to Oracle Apps and Oracle 9iAS
We are trying to asked to find out the ways of deplying load balancing and fault tolerance in Oracle Apps
I have gone thru the following articles of metalink and some more from google
Configuring Web Cache as a Load Balancer for Application Servers
Create new middle tier node in existing Apps 11i environment using cloning and then load balance
Integrating and using Web Cache with Forms 9i for Load Balancing
Running Multiple OC4J Instances From a Single Install of 9iAS 1.0.2.2
LOAD BALANCING ORACLE APPLICATIONS ON UNIX
Load Balancing in 11i
OC4J Clustering Setup
OC4J Load Balancing for Forms 9i
Setting up 11i E-Business suite using a hardware load balancer
Sharing an APPL_TOP in Oracle Applications 11i
In Oracle Apps Concepts pdf, found that
Load balancing occurs when there are multiple installations of web server, forms server, reports server, concurrent manager server etc
Lets consider forms server component of middle tier
Can there be multiple INSTANCES of forms server within SINGLE INSTALLATION ???
If it has to be MULTIPLE INSTALLATIONS, then it will require multiple physical machines
What is software load balancing then ???
Also read that
Oracle 9i AS instance is combition of Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) and one or more instances of Oracle9iAS Container for J2EE (OC4J)
Thus software load balancing can be implemented for Web server component of middle tier using multiple instances of OC4J ???
Forms metrix server configuration is hardware load balancing ??
What about Oracle9iAS Web Cache clustering ??
Please clarify the doubts and suggest me the way
Thanks a lotdear all can any one help me on the following;
We want to install Oracle Apps 11.5.9 on 4 IBM AIX 5L boxes, the first node
will hold the database , concurrent and Admin Tiers. as for the other 3 nodes
it will hold the Forms/Web Tiers and we need to use forms metrics for load
balancing taking into consideration that we can't use Shared APPL_TOP. we tried
to find the way how to install and configure this solution but all the
documents are talking aboout the concept only and this concept is applicable.
We need the exact steps on how do the installation either using rapidwiz or any
thing else
