Hi, welcome to the forum!
You can find training locations here: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=317
As for which course you should do, it depends on what you prefer working/want to work with: financial applications or administrating databases.

Hope everybody is doing good. I am in search of a good tutorial on Oracle apps finance and hrms module. Handsonerp.com is a very good site but unfortunately I need to pay money for learning from that site. Does anybody know a good site for beginners ? I have been asked to gain the functional knowledge,flow of forms and the tables used in the backend. I am browsing for this for a long time but not getting a good site. Career in Oracle Apps ? Please Help
Hello Everyone
There is a question which is troubling me a lot, I will be very happy if I can get any valuable feedback on it.
Let me describe my self, I am a software Engg with a work exp of 3.5 yrs in PL/SQL (Banking Domain) and currently I have switched a new company where I am learning and working on Oracle Apps (Finance: AP, PO). I am planning for my MBA next year from top 10 institute in India. Now here are my questions:
PS: I love traveling across the globe, so i would prefer a job which includes lots of traveling. I am good in Public Relation and good in communication.
1. How is the market demand for Oracle Apps?
2. Will Oracle Apps in Supply Chain Mangmnt will help me get a job which is more of client facing and traveling?
3. Should I go for MBA Operations or MBA Marketing. And will 2yrs MBA help me or 1 yr will do the needful to work as a Oracle Apps Functional?
At the end i would like to end up as an Oracle Apps Functional consultant but i am not sure which stream will help me.
Thanks

Which is a better carrer option,DBA or oracle apps developer,please help?
I am a trainee and have been offered a choice between the oracle DBA and the oracle apps finance developer.
What is the future of a DBA guy ,can he get into the management side in an IT industry or just stick to the tech side all through the life?
Is getting into a managerial side more easier in the DBA or the apps developer side?
Please help ,I am in a real confusion and have to quickly make a decision.

Mahen,
Before giving an opinion, the most relevant part would be to know that you want to do what, be a manager or be a techie or both? AFIK, in the dba track as well, after few years, a person can become a manager , project/team lead. It all depends on this fact tht you want to be a manager or not. I have got couple of friends, some are managers but some chose to stick with technology only despite that they were offered to become a manager as they didn't like the idea of analyzing the appraisal reports than Statspack reports.
Getting into the manager side would only come(or should come) with a proven record. I am not from Apps background, never did that but I feel that's a more functional side that you have mentioned. If you are a finance guy, having a strong base in finance, you should go for it. I don't think that if you are not having a base in this stream, you should be opting for it. You are still a trainee as per your saying, think about being good in either side of the technology than being the manager. You can always be once you have spend some time with either of the tracks.

EBS 11.5.10.2
XMLP 5.6.3
ARXAGMW.rdf
Hello,
I am trying to convert an Oracle Report to XML Publisher, and I am having problems getting lexicals in the Data Template to work.
I raised an SR for this since both related threads in this forum from two years ago were unresolved. Oracle had no answers for me, and told me to ask the question here.
So anyone who has any ideas, please chime in!
Here is a simplified version of the data template, narrowed down to just the use of the lexicals:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<dataTemplate name="XXWLC_ARXAGMW"
description="samples from doco"
defaultPackage=""
dataSourceRef="ORA_EBS"
version="1.0">
<properties>
<property name="xml_tag_case" value="upper" />
<property name="include_parameters" value="true" />
<property name="debug_mode" value="on" />
</properties>
<parameters>
<parameter name="P_ID_FLEX_NUM" dataType = "number" defaultValue="101" />
</parameters>
<lexicals>
<lexical type="oracle.apps.fnd.flex.kff.segments_metadata"
name="FLEX_GL_BALANCING_APROMPT"
comment="Comment"
application_short_name="SQLGL"
id_flex_code="GL#"
id_flex_num=":P_ID_FLEX_NUM"
segments="GL_BALANCING"
show_parent_segments="Y"
metadata_type="ABOVE_PROMPT"/>
<lexical type="oracle.apps.fnd.flex.kff.segments_metadata"
name="FLEX_GL_ACCOUNT_LPROMPT"
comment="Comment"
application_short_name="SQLGL"
id_flex_code="GL#"
id_flex_num=":P_ID_FLEX_NUM"
segments="GL_ACCOUNT"
show_parent_segments="Y"
metadata_type="LEFT_PROMPT"/>
<lexical type="oracle.apps.fnd.flex.kff.segments_metadata"
name="ACCT_BAL_LPROMPT"
application_short_name="SQLGL"
id_flex_code="GL#"
id_flex_num=":P_ID_FLEX_NUM"
segments="GL_BALANCING"
show_parent_segments="Y"
metadata_type="LEFT_PROMPT" />
</lexicals>
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q_DOCO_SAMPLE">
<![CDATA[
SELECT
&FLEX_GL_BALANCING_APROMPT alias_gl_balancing_aprompt
,&FLEX_GL_ACCOUNT_LPROMPT alias_gl_account_lprompt
,&ACCT_BAL_LPROMPT alias_acct_bal_lprompt
FROM dual
]]>
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_DOCO_SAMPLE" dataType="varchar2" source="Q_DOCO_SAMPLE">
<element name="sample_gl_balancing_aprompt" dataType="varchar2" value="alias_gl_balancing_aprompt" />
<element name="sample_gl_account_lprompt" dataType="varchar2" value="alias_gl_account_lprompt" />
<element name="sample_acct_bal_lprompt" dataType="varchar2" value="alias_acct_bal_lprompt" />
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>The lexicals "compile" and run successfully, but they return String values that SHOULD be wrapped with quotes; but this doesn't happen, so the SQL that runs is:
SELECT
COMPANY alias_gl_balancing_aprompt
,ACCT alias_gl_account_lprompt
,CO alias_acct_bal_lprompt
FROM dualThus, the concurrent program ends with ERROR, due to java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00904: "CO": invalid identifier
The first two lexicals and their corresponding sql statement are samples directly from the user guide (which is full of errors). The third lexical is the one from ARXAGMW.rdf.xml that I am trying to make work.
Edited by: user650442 on Apr 30, 2010 3:58 PMBy the way, simply adding the quotes around the lexical names in the sql statement doesn't work. That causes the lexical references to be ignored as simple string values:
SELECT
'&FLEX_GL_BALANCING_APROMPT' alias_gl_balancing_aprompt
,'&FLEX_GL_ACCOUNT_LPROMPT' alias_gl_account_lprompt
,'&ACCT_BAL_LPROMPT' alias_acct_bal_lprompt
FROM dualI turned on statement-level debugging via xdodebug.cfg and saw how it compiled the lexicals. By replicating the call to apps.fnd_flex_xml_publisher_apis.kff_segments_metadata that I found there, I was able to hack together a workaround for this issue.
Please point me to a better way of doing this if possible, as I had to GRANT EXECUTE on this apps package to my custom code schema. Is there a better lexical/flexfields reference than the XML Publisher documentation?
Here is the call I made in my before-report trigger:
--set ACCT_BAL_LPROMPT flexfield segment metadata lexical
begin
apps.fnd_flex_xml_publisher_apis.kff_segments_metadata(
'FLEX_ACCT_BAL_LPROMPT',
'SQLGL',
'GL#',
101,
'GL_BALANCING',
'Y',
'LEFT_PROMPT',
c_FLEX_ACCT_BAL_LPROMPT
end; -

Unable to get 'InitialContext' using Java Client in Oracle App 10.0.2.0
Scenario & Problem Description: Unable to get 'Initial Context' using Simple Java Client in Oracle Application Server 10.0.2.0
I'm having an issue while I try to initialize the Initial Context for an EJB lookup from a simple Java Client [local lookup], but the same code snippet works fine when I try from Servlet. I have enclosed the Exception Stack Trace and the Code Snippet for your reference.
1. .NET Client ---> Servlet --> LookupUtility --> EJB --> DB - Issue
2. .NET Client ---> Servlet --> EJB --> DB - Works
Exception: java.lang.InstantiationException: Error communicating with server: Lookup error: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: Invalid username/password for Config (guest); nested exception is: nested exception is: Exception in InitialContext: javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: Invalid username/password for Config (guest) at com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory.getInitialContext(ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory.java:149)

at com.seagate.edcs.config.util.LookupUtility.getConfiguration (LookupUtility.java:69)
at com.seagate.edcs.config.util.LookupUtility.main(LookupUtility.java:135)
Code Snippet:
* This method returns the Configuration for the properties set.
public ArrayList getConfiguration ( ) throws Exception {
ArrayList arrayList = null;
try {
Context context = getInitialContext();
System.out.println("Context : " + context);
Object home = context.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/com.seagate.edcs.config.ejb.ConfigSessionEJBHome");
System.out.println("Object home : " + home);
ConfigSessionEJBHome configSessionEJBHome = (ConfigSessionEJBHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(home, ConfigSessionEJBHome.class);
System.out.println("ConfigSessionEJBHome configSessionEJBHome : " + configSessionEJBHome);
ConfigSessionEJB configSessionEJB =(ConfigSessionEJB)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(configSessionEJBHome.create(), ConfigSessionEJB.class);
System.out.println("ConfigSessionEJB configSessionEJB : " + configSessionEJB);
arrayList = configSessionEJB.getAllConfig();
System.out.println("Context : " + context);
} catch (Exception ex) {
System.out.println("Exception Occured");
throw ex;
return arrayList;
* Get an initial context from the JNDI tree.
private Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException {
try {
Hashtable hashtable = new Hashtable();
hashtable.put("java.naming.factory.initial", "com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
hashtable.put("java.naming.provider.url", "ormi://seagate.mil-shivas-270.am.ad.seagate.com/home"); // if we won't specify the port, it considers the default port
hashtable.put("java.naming.security.principal","ias_admin");
hashtable.put("java.naming.security.credentials","ias123");
return new InitialContext(hashtable);
} catch (NamingException ne) {
System.out.println("Exception in InitialContext.");
throw ne;
Note:
1. The user "ias_admin" & password "ias123" are the credential provided for the 'Admin' while installing the Oracle App Server and using these credentials I'm able to bring the Admin Console. Also, added new user 'guest/guest' - assigned this user to the 'admin' group ...
2. Since its a local lookup, there is no need to specify the credentials, but at runtime a dialog box pops up prompting to enter the 'userid/password' and when I enter the crendtials, I get the exception as stated. [In case of Servlet - EJB lookup, I'm not specifying any credentials]
Are there are any configuration parameters which I need to provide in any of the .xml? Could you please let me know the fix for the same.

This is quite difficult to debug from this forum. Check the logs in $OH/opmn/logs and see if that helps. Also try to shut everything down (and check that all processes are gone) and then try to restart.

Unable to find oracle.apps.ibe.customer.AddressBook class in R12
Hi,
We are implementing iStore R12 for our client. They have iStore 11i already implemented.
In 11i they were using a custom jsp which is using following seeded java classes:
oracle.apps.ibe.customer.AddressBook
oracle.apps.ibe.customer.FlexibleAddress
I am trying to migrate this jsp into R12. However above java classes are not there in R12.
Are these java classes moved to some other location?
Please advise.
ThanksHi,
As noted these are now obsoleted in R12.
The new files are in: oracle.apps.ibe.tcav2
