Oracle Apps - Service link vs. Bookmark in Portal-to-Go

I have a link created by 'ServiceDesigner' that will connect to the back-end Oracle Applications without having to enter a username/password (our preference). The URL I entered into 'Service Designer' is 'http://my_apps_server:8003/OA_HTML/jtfwvald.jsp?username=user01&password=oracle'. When I create a BookMark in Papz using the same URL the returned page does not contain the menu Links - just the menu text. Which leads me to believe the connection is being made to the Apps.
Maintaining a 'ServiceDesigner' link for hundreds of users will be an issue for us. We would like to empower the user to manage their username/password via Papz thus reducing the maintenance by the HelpDesk.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

This functionality is available with Oracle9iAS Wireless. However, you should go to the eBusiness Suite forum for questions that pertain to their apps.

    Hi,
First, I debugged a bit with David Ebbo through Twitter. Here's the link to the conversation:
    https://twitter.com/MaximRouiller/status/589231825916166144
The error happened multiple times but 9:22PM Montreal Time on April 17th 2015 would be the time stamp.
    Site: http://mdtohtml.azurewebsites.net
    I tried the following:
Change Free => Basic on NP (New Portal). FAILED.
Change Free => Shared on NP. Failed.
Change Free => Shared on OP (Old Portal). SUCCESS.
Change Shared => Basic on OP. SUCCESS.
Change instances on NP, no options for this.
Change instances on OP to 2. SUCCESS.
Go to NP, get small notification to refresh the Blade. Reload the browser. I can now change instances.
Change instances to 1 on NP. SUCCESS. Confirmed on old portal.
Change Basic => Shared on NP. FAILED.
Change Basic => Free on ARM Explorer. SUCCESS.
Get told by David Ebbo to post here.
    Here's the message I got:

    Hello Maxime Rouiller,
The issue of not being able to create a new App Service Plan is now fixed. I tried to reproduce this and was able to create the App Service Plan Successfully.
You should now be able to create the App Service Plan from the New portal.
    Thanks,

Do you think it is helpful to you? or the client?
By the way, at 5am-7am the apps/db services are shutdown to give way to a "cold" backup. You noticed that
most of the services during this time have exit status "1". Except for addisctl and adcmctl , they are still "0". Can you tell me why
even if the apps is shutdown, this two services when tested their status....it is still "0"?
    Thanks a lot,
    MsK

  • Oracle apps technical- links to relevant documentation?

    Hi All,
I am trying to gain understanding of Oracle Apps technical area. Can you please help me identify:
    1) what are the four or five most important documentation that are required to be studied for this area? (if anyone asks me this for oracle 9i developer/dba than I can tell him about concepts guide, application developer guide, performance guide etc).
    2) What are the links to each of the 4/5 docs above?
    3) Apart from forms 6i and reports, what other skills are required for the oracle apps technical area?
    appreciate your help...

    Hi Nirav,
If you want to know about Apps-DBA field, I will suggest you to follow next docs:
    a) All the Oracle Applcations Systems Administrator's Guides (Securiry, Maintenance, Configuration).
    b) Oracle Applications Maintenance (Procedure and Utilities).
    c) Oracle Applications Concepts.
If you want to know about Oracle Applications Development field, then follow documents:
    a) Oracle Applications Developer's Guide.
    b) Oracle Applications User Interface Standards for Forms-Based Products.
All this kind of documents can be found at: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_06/current/html/docset.html

  • How to Start Oracle Apps Services?

    Hi All,
    I am using RDBMS : 9.2.0.6.0; Oracle Applications : 11.5.10.2 on AIX.
I am new to Apps and what to know how can I start and stop the Application and database services.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have one more issue regarding the database issue (I am new to apps hope people here don't mind to answer some silly question).
We all are here to share the knowledge and gain from others isssue! So, please don't hesitate in asking any of your doubt whatsoever.
For starting your database with spfile first create spfile from the pfile.
    SQL> create spfile from pfile;
Than you will have to do a little changes in adstrtdb.sql.
    vi adstrtdb.sql
    look for
    startup pfile=/<mount_point>/oracle/<SID>db/9.2.0/dbs/init<SID>.ora
    and delete the pfile=...
    it must just be startup
now you can start your database and it will start with spfile.
    Thanks,
    Anchorage

  • Error while creating new app service plan for a webapp

    Greetings !
I have a new webapp created and I want to move it a separate web app service plan to apply custom domain (Not available on free tier). From the new Portal I try to create new Web App Service plan and get this error.
"Failed to create App Service plan.
Failed to create App Service plan <App Service Plan Name>. There was an error processing your request. Please try again in a few moments."
Even while creation of the web app if I select create new App Service Plan it automatically goes into Free Plan.
    Please help.
    Thanks Paz

    Hello Parvez Alam,
The issue of not being able to create a new App Service Plan is now fixed. I tried to reproduce this and was able to create the App Service Plan Successfully.
You should now be able to create the App Service Plan from the New portal. Also, the App Service Plan concept is only availaible in the new portal and not the existing portal.
You can refer to the link below for more information on this:

  • FPN - Saving BI Links (KM Bookmarks) to the Consumer Portal Favorites

Hi, I'm posting this message again in hopes that either a mentor, SAP person, or Portal Expert can help.  I have received several emails from people looking to do the same thing I am.  The problem seems like a major integration gap between Portals and BI.
We use a Federated Portal Network where the Enterprise Portal (EP) is the Consumer Portal and the BI
Portal (BP) is the Producer Portal. BI Report Users access BI Reports from the Enterprise Portal through Remote Role Assignment.
BI Report "Save As" functionality allows you to save a "KM Bookmark" to the BI Portal Favorites. I am specifically looking to save a "KM Bookmark" to the Enterprise Portal(Consumer) Favorites and NOT the BI Portal(Producer).  This only makes sense since our users only have access to the Enterprise Portal.
Our users are accessing their BI Reports from the Enterprise Portal and the users would like to save a link (KM Bookmark) to their Enterprise Portal Favorites.  Currently, it looks like the "Save As" Functionality for saving "KM Bookmarks" is only allowing (Pointing) us to save the KM bookmarks to our BI Portal.
    1. In an FPN Environment can we save a "KM Bookmark" Link to a BI Report into the Enterprise (Consumer) Portal Favorites?
    2. If we are in a FPN Environment and users cannot save KM Bookmarks to Enterprise Portal Favorites and can only put "KM Bookmarks" in the BI Portal then how are users to access their links from the Enterprise Portal Environment?
    3. Just a note.  I think these saved links are called KM Bookmarks.  You can see this from the BI Report "Save As" dialog.  If you do a search through SAP Documentatiion you do not see a single reference to "KM Bookmark".
    4. I have found OSS Note1149597, but I do not believe this addresses this exact issue
If anyone can provide some valuable insight into this Portal and BI Integration it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank You,
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Has anyone seen any new information on this?  The described behavior makes the BI query "save" function completely useless in the context of an FPN consumer portal.
Note [1149597|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1149597] is very little help as near as I can tell.  We tested the "fix" in a DEV environment, and while it technically "resolves" the problem with where the favorites get saved, we end up with all of our BI content actually being "published" to the consumer by the BEx tools.  This sort of defeats the purpose of implementing an FPN in the first place, even if the requests are redirected back to the producer by the recommended BEx iView mods.
We have implemented a work-around by creating a RDL in our consumer portal to the producer portal's standard "Portal Favorites" iView.  However, we're not happy with this solution as we end up with multiple "favorites" areas in our central consumer portal (one for remote BI content and another for "local" favorites).  We also don't want to maintain the favorties that get saved to the producer portal.

  • Integrating Oracle Apps, Peoplesoft, SAP and others using ADF(Portal), BPEL

    Hi,
Our company has various system like Oracle Apps, Peoplesoft, SAP and some custom systems which uses microsoft active directory. All the system has a common User ID but diffrent password as set by the user. For now every user have to remember 4 different passwords and username(in some cases).
We wish to integrate the Authentication process using BPEL. Some thing like a SSO so the user will login into a new application(Build using ADF) like a portal, which will contain the links to all the above stated application. With this new application the user will have to remember only one user name and password and this user name and password will be sinked with all the other applications using BPEL.
Can you guys through some ideas as in how we can acchive this? Is it possible to integrate the Authentication process using BPEL?
    Thanks in advance,
    Deepak.

Why dont you synch ypur users in OPID and keep one username password there and then use external application or portal context to authenticate to all your other applications?

  • Does UMX Work with both Oracle Apps 11i and Oracle Portal

    Hi,
I am looking for some information related to UMX, Please share...
Has some one setup UMX in your 11i instance.. How comfortable it is after installation
I am looking to setup UMX for an Apps11i instance...
I am also sharing this Apps11i Database with Portal and Discoverer installation.
It is my initial understanding that the UMX is tightly coupled with Apps11i, Can I also integrate or use UMX with Discoverer/Portal.
Well, my basic purpose of exploring UMX is to get the Automatic Password Reset. If you are aware of anyother Password reset feature (which is not custom built using FND_USER Package & Procedure, coz..upgrade/maintenance issue), Please let me know.
    With kind regards,
    JRF.

  • Certificate Issue in web services Using j2ee in oracle apps 11i

    Hi all,
I am working with web services integration in oracle apps 11i. I used j2ee technology. I installed j2eesdk-1_4_03 and test with j2eetutorial. I have to integrate third party payment system with web services in oracle apps 11i. I run following commands in putty
    build: asant build
    packing: asant create-war
    deploy: asant deploy-war
    client java:
    compile: asant build
    run: asant run
While i run the "asant run" command, i got below the error
    sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found
I added third party certification but i got same error which i mentioned above.
Is any certification or settings need for run the web services in ebs.
    Thanks

  • CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED-calling service request api from oracle apps adapter

We are doing integration between Siebel and Oracle Apps. When a service request is created on Siebel we are passing that in Oracle Apps using Oracle Apps adapter which is calling a custom API which is doing all the validations and in turn is calling a public api for service request creation. There are two types of service requests - Field Service and Depot Repair. For Field Service we are able to successfully insert the data on Oracle Apps, but for Depot Repair we are getting an error 'CSD CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED' from the standard API.
We have checked the setup and found it is proper. We invoked the pl/sql API from sql developer and we are able to insert the data. So we are facing this issue only when calling the api from oracle apps adapter.
In the invoke call we have set these properties -
    jca.apps.RespApplication
    jca.apps.Responsibility
    jca.apps.Username
Based on our analysis till now it is looking like a security context setup issue, but we are not really sure what properties to set.
Any help in getting this through will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shantanu

    Hi Vijay,
We have created the apps adapter with default settings as 'apps' user and set the properties Responsibility, RespApplication, Username of <invoke>. Other than that no other settings has been changed.
    Are we missing anything?
This adapter is able to hit the database in case of 'Field Service' but it is failing for 'Depot Repair'.
