Oracle BAM and Portal

Has anyone out there integrated Oracle BAM into Portal 10.1.2? I'm trying to do that now and I'd like to know if anyone has had success. I'm new to Portal so if you could provide some details it would be appreciated. Thanks!

How do you want the integration to function? Do you just need a form to run on a page or do you need the form to interact with Portal functionality?
The former is easy to accomplish with a frame portlet. The latter not so easy but doable. Using the database as the common denominator its possible to have Forms interact with Portal thru PLSQL and data tables acting as state repositories.

  • Differences between Oracle BAM and Oracle BI and Question BAM  Data Objects

    Hi,
    I have two questions.
    1. Can someone tell me differences between Oracle BAM and Oracle BI?
My understanding about Oracle BAM is, we use BAM to build Dashboards or Reports.
We can also build DashBoards or reports using Oracle BI.
I am not able to understand why Oracle has two tools for same purpose?
Which tool is more powerful and user friendly(Oracle BI or Oracle BAM)?
    2. Every time we plan to develop Dashboard or report in BAM, we need to create BAM ADC Data Object to store Data (i.e first step is to get data from external database or application and second step is to store data in BAM ADC data object).
My understanding is we have an extra step(i.e creating Data Object) in Oracle BAM to develop a report or DashBoard
I am wrong pl correct me?

  • Oracle BAM and snmp

    Hi at all,
Data passed to BAM (Oracle Suite 11g) from SNMP, it's possible?
    tnx.

Its recommended that you should use same versions of OAS and Oracle BAM.
For integration between OAS components and BAM you can check BAM tech notes (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/10.1.3/htdocs/1013_support.html#technotes)
    Hoping it will help you.

  • BAM and Portal/Portlets?

    All,
"Portal Compatible" is listed as a key product in the BAM data sheet, but I cannot find anything more on it.
Can someone give me a hint on where to look?
    Thanks,
    Mathias

    Hi Mathias,
This is very simple. Any BAM report / dashboard can be hosted as an iframe in a web page or portal using the Report URL available via the Copy Shortcut command. The report will be fully functional including Active Data.
See "Copying Report URLs" in the Active Studio User's Guide for more details:

  • Installing Oracle 9ias and Portal on Linux - hard work???

Has anyone else tried to install 9ias 1.2.2.1 onto an Intel Linux platform, specifically RedHat? If so I wonder if it has been straightforward to you? If so please let me know!!! I have been struggling away at it for over three weeks, and almost nothing works out of the box, so I have to start endless TARs with OSS, and the problem is that they seem to be struggling and floundering as well. So far I have been asked for a huge amount of information and config files etc (copies of which they presumably have already) with almost nothing back. The particular problems at the moment are: changing the login server to use ldap (Oracle Internet Directory) and running portal under ssl. We (OSS and I) just can't get these to work. The latest plan by OSS is to patch portal to version 3.0.9.8.3, however, when I install that it fails, with basic shell script errors (eg : command not found)!!
There are other problems - eg Forms doesn't work properly; Reports doesn't work at all. These things I will have to sort out later, as it gets a bit confusing for everyone having several TARs open at once.
If anyone has any ideas or insight into this I would be grateful.
    David

It is not easy to configure. The patches produce side effects and this has caused delays from tech support. A bundle patch was applied to Rel 2 that has solved some problems. Why rel 2 production is not shipping is anybody's guess. The lack of practical expertise means that only corporate customers get preference. I have installed on quite few (NEW) solaris boxes in Europe and it does install ok but re-install gives some problems. BUT 'timeout' is a serious problem even after working on it (1.0.2.2 v2 3.0.9.8) for more than one year. The modules are not integrated smoothly, as you also experience. The cache is not efficient.
I suggest that you wait for rel 2 production (DOWNLOADED LACK THE PATCHES, so don't waste time) then try it on a clean box.

You can create roles in Oracle with the appropriate privileges to access the application. For example,
you could create a role that has only read access to all the tables in the database. You could assign this role to the menu. Also, you may want a role for a manager that whould enable him to insert data or to see a few special forms. You could assign this role to the menu associated with the form.
Using Form Builder, you can manage menu security with Oracle server roles. After defining the roles to use for a menu module, you could then specify the roles that have access to each menu item. When you set the 'Use Security' property of a menu module to 'Yes', the form enforces security. After setting the 'Use Security' property to 'Yes', you can use 'Module Roles' property to construct the entire list of roles with access to that menu module.
    I hope it helps.

  • BAM and SoapUI

    Hi,
I'm newbie in Oracle BAM and I'm having problems using BAM with SoapUI, a test enviroment for webservices.
I send records, via XML, from SoapUI to BAM succesfully, but in date fields, if I keep this fields blank, a default date is received from BAM (01-01-1900 00:00:00).
I would like that field have been received with blanks (empty values).
    Somebody have an idea?
    Thanks.
    Luciano Gomes

    Hi,
What is the data type of the field in BAM Data Object?
I checked that if I have the type in BAM data object as dateTime and leave it Nullable, it keeps the null value without populating anything if the input has the field blank. On the other hand, if the data type is Timestamp, it populates the current timestamp from BAM Server.
    Cheers,

  • Oracle BAM in BPM workspace

    Hi Everyone,
Instead user logging in separately to Oracle BAM. can we have Oracle BAM and respective reports in BPM workspace itself ?. So user doesn't need to log in Oracle BAM separately . Thanks!.

You can display BAM information inside of an ADF UI (see Using Oracle BAM Data Control).
Once BAM is exposed as a data control in ADF it could be placed on a form.  The ADF form could then be shown as human tasks in the BPM process are executed or when a link is selected in the Workspace or Worklist.

    Anirudh,
Thanks for the reply.I did configure the EMS in BAM for JMS and IBM MQ.I am trying to push data through S
    ensors into topic to BAM.
    My question is ...
1.Does 10.1.3.3 BPEL and BAM support IBM MQ ?
2.Do we need any additonal changes on the BPEL side or Weblogic side other than jms.xml and entry in weblogic-ra.xml?
3.Do we need to create EMS for both IBM MQ and also JMS data source. If yes do we need to use JMS data source in the Enterprise link design studio and not IBM MQ ?
4.Do we need to use the topic name and topic connection factory in the sensor action in BPEL code ?or Create an queue and need to route data thorugh it ?The order booking tutorial says we can use the topic directly ?
If we try to run the plan in Enterprise link using JMS data source ,I am getting following error.

  • Empty Oracle BAM URL

I followed the full installation guide (not quick install) to install BAM and all dependencies. After installation, all BAM services started successfully. When I tried to get to Oracle BAM console (http://localhost/OracleBAM), I was presented with the screen indicating Oracle BAM with two large column. On the right column is description of Oracle BAM and indicates that I can click on items on the left (left column) to perform certain function. In this case, the left column should have link for Administrator, Architect, etct. However, the left column is empty. I don't see anything there and can not get to Oracle BAM Administrator or Architect. Any direction on why this is happening?
I have BAM installed on Windows 2000 with sp4. Oracle AS 10g R2 Metadata Repository and all dependencies (Net frame 1.1, Enterprise Link, etc) are also installed on the same server.

To follow up on my original post, I logged in using Window account that was used to install BAM (belonging to Windows Administrator group)

  • BAM and Oracle application server 10.1.3???

    Hi,
I would like to understand more about integration between BAM and OAS.
I remember I read a document that stated that BAM was included (or was integrated) as part of OAS 10.1.3, however I installed it and still don;t see how it is integrating with OAS.
Also, in one of the Tutorials it mentions this:
"Note –if you are using Oracle Application Server with opmn process, the following
additional files are required in the above path:
    C:\OracleBAM\OC4J\opmn\lib\optic.jar
Copy the entire Application Server “opmn” directory to c:\oraclebam"
So... are there any additional steps for the OAS and BAM integration?
I am still learning BAM but mi goal is install it as part of EBS(order Manegemnet)-BPEL-OTM (oracle Transportation) integration installation I currently have.
If it can be integrated can it be done using iAS 10.1.2.0.2 instead?
    Thanks

Its recommended that you should use same versions of OAS and Oracle BAM.
For integration between OAS components and BAM you can check BAM tech notes (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/10.1.3/htdocs/1013_support.html#technotes)

  • Oracle BAM 11g - Deployments and development questions

    Hi!
I have few questions related to Oracle BAM 11g developement and deployment processes. We are going to use that together with Oracle SOA Suite 11g ( BPEL / BPM processes), and now my questions are related to development phase:
    1. If we have two or more Oracle BAM developers with their own Oracle BAM server instances, and we would like to share our development work, should/can we you same database repository to share the reports, data objects?
    2. How we can copy Oracle BAM Data Objects, Reports etc from one environment (dev) to other environments (test, accept test, integration test, production) ? In software deployment projects (like Spring or Grails web-projects) we have used version control system and CI to build packages to different environments etc. How is the Oracle BAM deployment process actually "planned to be" since it uses its database repository to store objects and reports ?
    3. The Oracle BAM itself has nice reports etc (Oracle BAM Client) that can be used using IE browser. How if we have to show/include those reports from Oracle WebCenter Spaces ? Is it possible and how?

    Hi,
Were you able to find the answer to your questions? Especially the one, showing BAM reports in Webcenter Spaces?

  • Failure messages to be displayed in BAM and ESB Portal

    Hi,
As per requirement, I need to display all resumable/Non-resumable messages in both BAM and ESB Portals.for resumable messages, admin will resubmit the messages from ESB Portal. Please let me know how to achieve this requirement.

I have a project requirement, where I have to show all failure messages(resumable\non-resumable) in BAM and ESB portal.
    Order Creation Process:
    1. Developed Main Orchestration and exposed as a webservice for front end client. There are sub -process orchestration involved
2.Front end client will consume Main Orchestration Service and submit the data
3.There are multiple sub -process orchestration are involved after receving the data from Main Orchestration
4.while executing Order Process, if any error occurs in any of the orchestration then those failure's to be displayed in BAM and ESB Management Portal
    5. Based on the Order ID  End User will need to search failure message details  from BAM
    6. The failure message will be resubmit from ESB Management Portal for further process.
Please let me know your thoughts on how to provide the solution for above approach
