Oracle BI Answers Conditional Formatting

Hi,
Im using Oracle BI Answers and I am trying to set the colour conditioning function on the following graph:
On the X axis I have company branches, on the Y axis I have sales figures. The two values that I have projected on the graph are sales figures for the current month (first bar - bar A) against sales figures of the same month last year (second bar - Bar B). My requirement is to condition the colours on Bar A so that for each branch if Bar A is equal to Bar B, the colour for Bar A should be amber, if Bar A is greater then Bar B for each branch the colour should be red and if the Bar A is less than Bar B, the colour should be green. The colour on Bar B is always grey. I tried using the "Format Chart Data" setting on the Chart, and when I try setting the condition for Bar A, the only options I am given are the numbers on the Y axis; I cant seem to set a condition for Bar A against another variable - Bar B for each of the divisions on the same chart.
Any ideas how I can resolve that? Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I am having difficulties with the fact that the helper column has different values for each branch/division, and the column A cannot be conditioned against the helper column as it is not a constant value, but several different values. Also, if I hide the helper column, its values would not be shown in the conditional formatting option.
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

    XML is out of the question at this time on this report.

    If possible, change the vertical elasticity of the item to 'Fixed'. If it is not feasible, then do you have any other items on left or right of the hidden item, which you do not hide? If you enclose all the items (including the item which is in question) within a frame. And change the line color of the frame to transparent. Vertical elasticity as 'Variable'. If that is also not possible, then create a boilerplate text (type . there), next to the item. Change the color of the '.' to white and font size to 2. So it is not visible. When item is hidden, '.' will be there and lines wouldn't move up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Conditional Formatting in RTF templates

    HI
    I am just going around with designing of rtf templates. I have a question regarding the conditional formatting feature. The question is
    IF i am having different type of customers(corporate,individual,etc..) passed as parameters, Can an particular cell be formatted with different colors for different customers. for example, if the parameter is corporate customer the the color of particular cell should be RED in color, and if parameter is Individual the color of cell Must be GREEN in color.
    Please help me out with this.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes you can conditionally format the individual cells.
    Take a look at the guide (link provided) and search for "Cell Highlighting":

  • Cross Conditional format in Pivot Table

    Hi Guys
    I have an important client requirement where by I need to present the data in teh following format
    CAMBODIA LAOS SRI LANKA
    KPI_NAME PROPOSED_TARGET_VALUE MIN_TARGET_VALUE Aug-09 Sep-09 Oct-09 Aug-09 Sep-09 Oct-09 Aug-09 Sep-09 Oct-09
    SERVICES PROVISIONING CALL RATE (%) <5% <5% 21.00% 68.00% 10.80% 1.300% 0.100% 1200.% 2.500% 5.000% 66.50%
    The table is like that :
         Measure     Indicator
    13     38     White
    17     1016     Red Green
    15     3456     White
    19     8644     Grey
    12     41605.886     White
    10     52647.007     White
    This is possible only through pivot table whereby country and period dimesions have been put in pivot.
    Also there is a requirement to paint the background colour in Red Amber Green ... and for that I ahve to create a new column where after comparing i can put the status as Red ..Amber ..Green and based on the cross column conditional formating I can paint the fact value like 21.00% (shown above) .
    But when I am importing that table in pivot view all the backgrounf colour vanishes. since cross column conditional formating is not supported in pivot.
    Is there any way out to achieve this requirement .
    Thanks

  • Conditional Formating colors not printed

    I have an OBIEE Report that has conditional formating to display results with background colors based on the values like if actuals is greater than goal then display the number in green and if below the goal then red etc. What I am seeing is that when I display the report (Table view) on dashboard on IE6 browser, it shows all the conditional formatting colors on the dashboard but when I do print preview, the colors are lost. When printed, it prints the report without the colors. I developed the reports in IE8 version and when I view and print from IE8 browser, it prints with colors. I feel it might be a bug or incompatibility with IE6 but am not sure about that. Is there any way to resolve this issue. This report will be viewed on IE6 browser and upgrading the company wide browser is not an option.

  • Conditional format in OBI Publisher Template Builder for Word

    Hi,
    I'm creating a template in MSWord's Publisher. I inserted a table and I tried to add conditional formatting to some of the cells. Nothing special: just standard red color when the value is below 0.
    In several places I've seen that I should go to the cell and do 'Insert>Conditional Format'. Unfortunately I get the following message then:
    The conditional format is not inside a table and can therefore not be applied to a table row
    I tried to google it, but I didn't find anything.
    So I tried to do it with explicit xsl code. In the User's Guide I found an example and after my adjustments it looks like this:
    <?if:_-__ROUND__FACTS_SUMMARY_V_._ACTUAL_COST_PREV_MON___0__<0?>
    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">red</xsl:attribute><?end if?>
    <?_-__ROUND__FACTS_SUMMARY_V_._ACTUAL_COST_PREV_MON___0__?>
    I put the above xsl code in 'Properties>Advenced' for a table cell.
    And when I try to preview it as HTML I get the error:
    Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XSLException: <Line 45, Column 100>: XML-22047: (Error) Invalid instantiation of 'Attribute' in 'Element' context.
    at oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XSLStylesheet.flushErrors(XSLStylesheet.java:1534)
    I exported my XSL-FO Style Sheet and here you have the lines 41-48:
    <fo:flow flow-name="region-body">
    <fo:block xdofo:line-spacing="multiple:13.8pt" orphans="2" widows="2" linefeed-treatment="preserve" start-indent="5.4pt" text-align="start" padding-bottom="10.0pt" end-indent="5.4pt" padding-top="0.0pt" height="0.0pt" font-size="11.0pt" font-family="Calibri"/>
    <fo:block xdofo:line-spacing="multiple:13.8pt" orphans="2" widows="2" linefeed-treatment="preserve" text-align="start" padding-bottom="0.25pt" end-indent="5.4pt" padding-top="0.25pt">
    <fo:table start-indent="0.0pt" style-id="ts16" style-name="Table Grid" xdofo:table-summary="Template Table 1" xdofo:row-header-count="0">
    <xsl:variable name="_XDOFOPOS2" select="number(1)"/>
    <xsl:variable name="_XDOFOTOTAL" select="number(1)"/>
    <fo:table-column column-width="45.5pt"/>
    <fo:table-column column-width="57.2pt"/>
    I can't see here anything related to my piece of code.
    Do you have any suggestions what do I do wrong?
    And, what's more important, what should I do, to make this conditional formatting run?
    I'm using Template Builder v. 10.1.3.4.
    I'm new to BI and not an expert in XSL, so please forgive me if the info in my post is incomplete. Let me know about it and I'll try to fill the gaps.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Here is what I have used in the past. insert a formula and copy one of these into the formula (and of course change the field names to your report field name).
    Changing Background Color Based on a Condition:
    <?choose:?><?when:GETROWNUM mod 2=0?><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">rgb(231,230,229)</xsl:attribute><?end when?><?end choose?>
    OR
    <?choose:?><?when:ROWNUM mod 2=0?>
    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">rgb(241,235,207)</xsl:attribute>
    <?end when?>
    <?end choose?>
    OR
    Change font color for entire row based on a condition
    <?if@row:STAT='B'?><?attribute@incontext:color;'red'?><?end if?>

  • 11G Conditional Formatting : bug?

    Hello,
    I need some info on the conditional formatting in 11G. Has anyone seen behaviour like this before, probably a bug?
    Just for testing purposes I've a column with the values lower, higher and between.
    Initially I've added some background colouring based on the values of the column.
    So far so good.
    But when I add a measure to my report and create a pivot table, my conditional formatting is ok within the pivot view, but no longer in my initial table where it's lost?
    Any one an idea about this kind of behaviour?
    Txs,

    Hi ADB,
    Might be this is a bug,cant say as many bugs has come up in 11g.....But something strange for me.

  • Change bit of field to bold at runtime (not conditional formatting)

    I know you can use conditional formatting to change the look of a whole field at run time. But is it possible to alter just a portion of a field at run time.
    For example at run time the field "letter_text" contains the value:
    "This is a test chunk of text but I want this word to display as bold - *BOLD* - but the rest to show as normal text"
    Is there anyway of outputting the word "BOLD" as bold but the rest of the field as normal no-bold text?

    Nope. This functionality is not possible in oracle reports. This is possible in Apex reports.
    Is the width of the value to be bold is fixed or does it always start in the begining?.
    Below are my thoughts.
    1. Create 2 more fields at the same field where you want the value to be displayed and make these fields conditional.
    If your query is select ename,dept from emp change it to
    Select ename, val1 , val2 , dept from emp;
    val1 will have the value to be bolded .( Use instr&substr to get the value to bolded)
    val2 will have the value without bolded value
    2 Toggle between original field and val1/val2
    Create a format trigger for original field and hide the field when there is some value in Val1filed.
    Also display Val1 & Val2 when there is some value in Val1
    So for the end users, when the value to be bolded is there , then Val1 with bolded value is shown and rest of the value is normal in Val2

  • Check for null values in conditional formatting when no rows returned.

    I have a report that is showing facts for different months.
    For some months there is no row in the facts table.
    But in the report, I have to show a * when there is no data.
    If there is a row in the facts table with null value for data, the conditional formatting successfully shows a * when data is null.
    But when no row is present in the facts for a particular month , conditional formatting is unable to detect any null, as none exist.
    How we can check that no rews returned for a particular month and then show *?
    thanks

  • How do i use conditional formatting to edit the color of other selected other cells?

    I have been playing around with the conditional formatting feature of Numbers, I have figured out how to change font and background color of the cell i am working with.
    However what i am looking to do is apply a background color formatting to another cell (i.e. F2) if conditions are met in (B2).
    the end game is this,
    I want to make a column of check boxes, and using contional formating i want adject cells to change color (I.e. the example above: if (B2) is a check box, then when unchecked the reffered Cell (F2) does nothing, but when check the color of (F2) changes)
    I can make this happen with Logic equations, the give (i.e. F2) some letter or number value, then using conditional formats i can have the color change. but this leaves that particular cell useless to me (i.e. F2) I am not free to enter or edit text in that cell. (i.e. =IF(B2=TRUE,"Paid","Due") ----> then add a conditional statement that chages color when the value is either "Paid" or "Due")
    How do i have F2 change color, when B2 is checked and still retain the ability to enter information (or potential have another formula) in F2? (The Cell is not used up by "Paid" or  "Due" it is editable just like any other cell)
    is there anyway to change cell characteristics like font, color, and background color inside a formula, because in that way i would be able build it manually
    i tried using the formula editor inside the conditional format pane, but the only infor it will allow me to retain is one partictular cell. i cannot add modifiers like "+" or "=" or anything else. what is that space used for then?
    thanks for anyones help

    MC,
    You can do what you want in Numbers. It requires an auxiliary column and it's a bit tedious to set up because conditional formatting by comparison to another cell isn't relative, so each cell has to be programmed individually with no option to Paste or Fill to other cells in a range.
    For explanation purposes, let's say your checkbox is A2, your cell to be conditionally formatted is B2, and your auxiliary cell is  C2. To have the format of B2 determined by the checkbox status in A2, you will:
    1. In C2 write: =IF(A, B, " ") The " " is any string or value that you don't expect to encounter in B normally, and using the space character means you don't have to worry about having it visible if C is in View.
    2. In B2 use Conditional Format: "Equal To" cell C2 and set your text and fill attributes to be used when the box in A is checked.
    That's it. Do that for every cell in the range.
    Jerry
