Oracle BI & JD Edwards

Hi all,
Seems to be that Oracle has developed a OBI repository and a set of KPIs in Oracle BI to integrate with JD Edwards.
Does someone know if this is available on Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition pack??
Does someone know the link where I can download the installer with the JDE integration part??
I have been searching in Oracle web site but I didn't find it.
Thanks in advance!
Víctor.

Hi Víctor,
What you are looking for in Oracle Business Intelligence Applications. Here is the link: http://www.oracle.com/appserver/business-intelligence/bi-applications.html
You'll want to reach out to your Oracle Rep to check and make sure that the module you wish to buy is supported under JDE. Right now,
Financial Analytics is the only module I am aware is supported.
Good luck and if you found this post useful, please award points!
Best regards,
-Joe

  • Data exchange between Oracle DB and JD Edwards

    Hi all,
We have an Oracle 10g EE database which we maintain. The financial system is using JD Edwards. We need to provide them some daily information(payments) Also they need to send us some data( payment reconciliation). My questions are:
    1. What kind of interaction is posible between Oracle db and JD Edwards?
    2. What database does JD Edwards internally use? Is in an Oracle db?
    3. Is there an ODBC driver available for interaction?
    4. Does JD Edwards handle credit card payments?
Please, can you give me an answer quick, we need it by the end of today for a proposal..
Excuse my lack of knoledge, but we never worked with JD Edwards before...
    Thank you

#2 All the JD Edwards installations I have ever come across were on AS400 (iSeries I believe is the new name) …their niche on the application software market was the fact that they were running so well integrated with that particular platform. AS400 comes bundled with [one of the many flavors of] DB2 … that is, no extra license required. Oracle has never had an AS400 port … so I doubt you’ll find Oracle underneath your JD Edwards installation.
#1 “some daily payment information” suggests batch type integration and relatively small in scope … all systems/applications have some sort of data loader and there are always ways to get data out into files … so a custom, file-based little integration mechanism could be all that you need. I did work once in such a little project … the JD Edwards specialists in the company did their part of loading and loading on their side … we did the same on the Oracle side … we agreed on file formats, content, schedules, a common/secure drop zone in the network etc. and that was pretty much it. The point is, there must be some JD Edwards people in your company you should get involved in the discussion/proposal.
#3 An ODBC driver for DB2 on AS400 very likely exists … keep in mind though that this means the integration will be at a low level (table level) … many applications expose integration points at the API level (application level). Again, you have to get the JD Edwards people on board.
My last points … if you have Oracle in house then call your Oracle representative … Oracle owns JD Edwards … you may get better answers or re-directs there. Also look if your company has any middleware software already … contact the vendor and see what they have to say

  • 'Connection Description for Remote Database not found' Error

    Hi All,
I have an interface that loads Oracle DB from an Oracle source(JD Edwards). It is mostly one to one mapping of the columns, and is utilizing LKM Oracle to Oracle(DBLink), IKM Oracle Incremental Update and CKM Oracle.
I am getting an error when executing the interface which states 'Connection Description for Remote Database Not Found' at the 'Insert Flow into I$ table' step in the Operator logs.

    Hi All,
I am seeing things are working fine, when I am using LKM SQL to Oracle in combination with IKM Oracle Incremental Update. It is only in the case of using LKM Oracle to Oracle(DBLINK) in combination with IKM Oracle Incremental Update, that the above mentioned error is thrown.
Please suggest on the resolution in using LKM Oracle to Oracle(DBLINK) with IKM Oracle Incremental Update...
    Thanks!

  • Need urgent general questions...

1, why should we go for erp ? when having many technologies to implement projects ??
2,what r the implement strategies and intricaces ?
3, give comparision of erp products?
4, Feature and  advantages of sap ?
    disadvamtages of sap -abap ?

    Hi,
Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERPs) integrate (or attempt to integrate) all data and processes of an organization into a single unified system. A typical ERP system will use multiple components of computer software and hardware to achieve the integration. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a single, unified database to store data for the various system modules.
The term ERP originally implied systems designed to plan the utilization of enterprise-wide resources. Although the acronym ERP originated in the manufacturing environment, today's use of the term ERP systems has much broader scope. ERP systems typically attempt to cover all basic functions of an organization, regardless of the organization's business or charter. Business, not-for-profit organizations, governments, and other large entities utilize ERP systems.
Additionally, it may be noted that to be considered an ERP system, a software package generally would only need to provide functionality in a single package that would normally be covered by two or more systems. Technically, a sofware package that provides both Payroll and Accounting functions (such as QuickBooks) would be considered an ERP software package.
However; the term is typically reserved for larger, more broadbased applications. The introduction of an ERP system to replace two or more independent applications eliminates the need for interfaces previously required between systems, and provides additional benefits that range from standardization and lower maintenance (one system instead of two or more) to easier and/or greater reporting capabilities (as all data is typically kept in one database).
Examples of packages commonly referred to as ERP systems include: SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft (which has been taken over by Oracle), J.D. Edwards, Sage Software, BAAN, MAS, and the Microsoft Dynamics suite of ERP products.
Examples of modules in an ERP which formerly would have been stand-alone applications include: Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Financials, Human Resources, CRM, and Warehouse Management.
there are so many erp packages like SAP, PEOPLESOFT, BAAN, JD EDWARDS, ORACLE APPLICATIONS etc
SAP is the ERP package which suits best for the COMPANY's to plan their resources efficiently and perfectly such that a 100 percent integration is achieved between the different departments (modules) of an organization. Beacuse of its best integration among the functional modules it became famous.
    steps for smooth SAP Implimentation:
) Phased vs. "big bang" approach to migration - cutting over your systems all at once generally increases your risk, particularly on large projects across multiple geographies/countries.
    2) Training - the better training you provide users, the less problems you will see.
    3) Legacy system planning - what are you going to do with your systems after go-live? Will you run them in parallel for a short-period until you know the new ERP system is functional? If so, have you budgeted these costs in your ROI?
    4) Testing - Unit and integration testing is very important; you significantly reduce your implementation risk if you have thoroughly tested the solution with real data and real user profiles before go-live.
    5) IT support - expect more support center call volume and staff accordingly during go-live. You will also want to make sure you have clearly defined escalation procedures in place for ERP issues that your support staff isn't able to handle.
    6) Contingency planning - what will you do if your system does go down? Do you have manual processes you can revert to if needed?
It all boils down to ERP risk mitigation. You want to make your project plan, budget, and staffing all address the above variables.
    SAP Versions:
SAP ERP 6.0 running on NetWeaver 7.0
SAP ERP 2005 running on NetWeaver 2004
    SAP R/3 4.7(Enterprise) running on WebAS 6.20
    SAP R/3 4.6(mysap.com) running on Basis 4.6
    Older releases.
    SAP R/3 4.5
    SAP R/3 4.0
    SAP R/3 3.1
These are just the ERP or R/3 components here, there are of course a lot of other SAP software products as well.
ERP system takes a lead role because of some of the following reasons:
Many large corporations use several different and separate information systems, often because they have merged with and/or acquired other companies with varied systems. An ERP system integrates these separate information systems and results in improved data reliability and processing efficiency. ERP systems are not only used by large corporations but becoming popular with small to mid-sized companies also.
Simplify business transaction processing and thus work load is reduced.
Some of the main advantages of using SAP R/3 are listed below:
SAP's R/3, introduced in 1992, is the most used ERP system in the world.
The R/3 software package is designed to allow businesses to effectively and efficiently operate a variety of business processes within a single integrated information system.
The software is customizable using SAP's proprietary programming language, ABAP/4. R/3 is scalable and highly suited for many types and sizes of organizations and runs on six different platforms.
SAP’s R/3 has been designed to be the best ERP system in the four areas of human resources, financial, supply chain management, and marketing. R/3 is also an international product, and meets the local fiscal, language, and tax requirements of most countries.

  • Data integrator and informatic

    Hi There
does any one know the difference between informatic and data integartor? if someone has informatic skill, could it be easy to transfer to data integrator?
    thanks

First of all, Data Integrator is not a reporting tool, it is an ETL tool from SAP BO.
    1) When we go for Data Integrator and Rapid marts
    2) What is the importance of Data Integrator
    3) Can you give a scenario for Data Integrator and Rapid marts..
Rapid Mart is a pre-built information component, that use DI as an ETL tool which extracts data
from different source systems like SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle, Siebel & JD Edwards, integrating and
    loading into datamarts.
The analytic datamarts(pre defined data warehouse application) focused on different subject areas..
such as Sales, HR, Inventory, Accounts etc..
    4) what are the basics required to know Data Integrator
    Data Warehouse and ETL concepts.
    5) What is the land scape of Data Integrator
    6) What are Advatages and Dis advantages of Data Integrator.
Data Integrator allows to develop data warehouse applications in both Batch and Real-Time job mode
Data Integrator manages the data from heterogeneous and homogeneous sources and transforms the data
according to business logic, integrates into single data source for analysis.
It extracts the data from operational source systems and external source systems typically like RDBMS,
Flat files, XML files, XML Messages, SAP IDocu2019s, PeopleSoft, Siebel etc

  • Compliance Calibrator 5.2 RTA for Non-SAP Apps

    Hi all,
Can SoD rules be written for analyzing a Users access to SAP and NON-SAP applications across the enterprise?
If yes will CC RTA need to be installed on the NON-SAP application?
If yes are there any requirements that need to be met by NON-SAP application and is there a list of NON-SAP applications (other than-Peoplesoft, Oracle, Hyperion, JD Edwards) that CC has an RTA for?
Is there any documentation specific to aplications that can support CC RTAs and installation on these?
    -Cheers

    Hi,
Yes SoD rules can be written for analyzing user accesses to SAP and non-SAP applications.
Basically there is no other application for which an RTA exists, but there is a documentation discussing the technical requirements for file generation from the non-SAP systems for integration of non-SAP Systems with SAP Compliance Calibrator.
This documentation is available in <a href="http://service.sap.com/rkt-grc">http://service.sap.com/rkt-grc</a>
under SAP GRC Access Control 5.2 -> SAP GRC Compliance Calibrator 5.2 -> Step2: Prepare for your project -> Cross Application Material
You'll need your OSS user-id to access that page; in case you cannot access it, please post a message in the OSS.

Thanks for the link, but not able to find JDE demo version for download. It's not quite as simple as 'click the download' button. You gotta get the infrastructure in place.
As recommended, go to http://edelivery.oracle.com , click on Continue, fill the legal page, select JD Edwards for your OS, and start downloading. I would probably start and stop with the Installation document, since that likely has information such 'how much of the 60GB download is really required'.

    Hi <please provide your name>,
You should NOT migrate a JD Edwards database with the SQL Dev Migration Workbench, as for all Oracle Apps there is a standard migration procedure. JD Edwards have one like this, but I don't know exactly how you should reach it. Maybe on JD Edwards forum.

  • Custom transports for Oracle Financials or JD Edwards

Is anyone aware of a product/plug-in on the market that was built using the ALSB Transport SDK to connect to Oracle Financials or JD Edwards?

    Diego,
You will need to go further in your setup. I have a few questions.
    1. Are you on World or E1? This post is in the World forum.
    2. What release and tools version are you running?
    3. Once we find this out you need to see if 11g is supported with Oracle MTR's.
Once we know 11g is supported a simple search on Oracle should get you the documents or even opening a call with them and have them provide this info to you should get you what you are asking.
IF you are E1 you can find the version by simply looking at the name of the folder on the deployment server (i.e. if you are on 812 the folder will have 812, or if you are on 811 it will show 811). If you need to find the tools release you can check the ptf.log file in the bin32 folder on your deployment server. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

  • Oracle 64bit Server (From JD Edwards) and oracle 32 bit client showing ORA:12560 "TNS: protocol adapter error "??

I installed 64bit Oracle successfully and was able to connect to DB using SQL Developer and sqlplus (Oracle E1local and TNSListener is up and running). I installed Oracle 32bit client and copied both tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files to C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client\Network\admin. I directly executed sqlplus from "C:\app\Adm\....client\bin", but it is still throwing same error and because of this JDEdward installation is not able to find if any database is running or not.!
