  • Some RTF commands not working in Oracle XML Publisher Desktop 5.6.3

    Hello,
    I am using Oracle XML Publisher Desktop 5.6.3 (Patch 5887917) and seems like some of the RTF command are not working. I am following Tim Dexter's blog (http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/10/here_are_my_terms_conditions.html ) and could not make the "new" commands from his blog, work in my template.
    <?section:force-page-count;'end-on-even-layout'?> -- even with this on the template, I'm still getting output with odd total numpages
    <?section:xdofo:blank-on;'even-skip-page-count'?> -- cannot suppress the NUMPAGES value of MS Word
    Do I need to apply additional patch(es) on top of Patch 5887917 for the MS Word add-on? Could you please tell me what am I missing?
    Thanks.

  • Oracle BI Publisher desktop - insert field does not make absolute path

    Hello everyone,
    I am using the Oracle BI Publisher desktop 11.1.1.5
    Lets have the given demodata
    <demodata>
         <person>
         <name>Peter</name>
         </person>
         <relative>
         <name>Mike</name>
         </relative>
    </demodata>
    As you can see the tag <name> is used as subchild in person, relative.
    next i start winword 2007 using the bip-extension. There is a button 'insered field' that opens a window with the demodata tree.
    When i pick person->relation->name there will be the expression <?name?> insered.
    Thats my problem, i need the absolute path to be insered, in this case <?/demodata/relation/name?>
    If the adressing is not absolute starting from the root the rendered Report will show 'Peter' as it is the first occurence of the <name> tag.
    I have not find out where to configure the word-plugin to make absolute paths in fields.
    Any ideas ?

    Thank you for your answer
    sure, it is possible to edit the fields by hand but my xml-structure is autogenerated (MDA-approach), nested and quiet complex. Manual tasks can lead to typing errors and sometimes i forget to edit one field afterwards.
    It would be just very handy when the tool does the work for me, it has all the information anyway.
    I wonder why am the first person that is having this request. In my opinion adressing starting from the root is clear and without ambiguity. In every field i can exactly read using the expression which element in the tree is used.
    In conclusion, it would be nice if the plugin let the user decide whether to use the short or the long syntax
    greetings,
    martin.

    Take a look at data templates. You can use the "BeforeReportTrigger" option using a PL/Sql function to accomplish this. Look at the Report Designers guide for information about datatemplates.

  • Oracle BI Publisher Desktop - What version of Java is supported

    Hi,
    I've just tried to install Oracle BI Publisher Desktop on a new machine only to be told that I need a JRE, I did not realise this was a requirement for a client machine. I've looked around the pages and cannot find a specific requirement for a JRE for the BI Publisher Desktop tool. So what is the minimum version of Java required for this tool? 1.5?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes,
    Get the latest one, too, it wont be a issue even if you get latest.

  • BI Publisher Desktop Windows 7 Office 2007 Install

    Hey All,
    Having some issues with install the BI Publisher Desktop 10.1.3.4.1 on Windows 7 32 bit / Office 2007 setup.
    Keep getting error, "Please close MS Word and try again".
    Well it is certainly closed, and I have also tried a clean reboot, just to eliminate any lingering processes.
    So basically, should this Windows 7 install work?
    Didn't see it named on the certifications list, but all of the other Vista 32 bit installs I have tried have been successful.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hayden

    Before you start BIP Desktop installation, you have to close all
    MS-Office Applications (MS-Word, MS-Outlook, etc) and Internet
    Explorer too.
    After installation is complete run Word 7 and go to->Adds-In
    ->Oracle BI publisher.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 - Conversion Error from Word 2007

    I do not want to hijack the thread or question raised by another poster a short time ago but I cannot figure out how to correct the below.
    Office 2007 fully updated
    Vista 32-bit
    Acrobat Pro 9.3.4
    I have to provide data for someone else to assemble and publish and have been attempting to convert some Word documents nearly full of tables to press quality .pdf.  Whenever I try the conversion, Acrobat Pro seems to re-center the tables both horizontally and vertically forcing the misalignment of the rows of data although any repeating headers remain properly placed.  I can even see the table shift downward slightly when using the Acrobat conversion macro within Word.  It may be adjusting the margins instead of re-centering.
    I have tried using the macro within Word 2007, Create PDF within Acrobat Pro and Print to PDF as well as tweaking some of the settings such as lowering resolution and turned off unused settings such as enable fast web view, etc.  The glitch also occurs with High Quality Print.  Standard used to work but after the update to 9.3.4 that conversion shows the same problem.  I even tried saving in Word 97-2003 format with the same results.
    The documents in question do have custom page sizes and margins but do not use any abnormal fonts.  I have tried changing the margins but the conversion to .pdf still changes the information and/or magins as described above.  Row height seems to be correctly maintained.
    I realize that a knowledgeable user can export the .pdf back into Word or other program but am trying to make it more difficult for someone to edit information which has always had extremely negative consequences in terms of data organization, layout and even integrity.
    There has to be something really silly that I am overlooking.
    Thank You

    Thanks Bill.
    Sorry for the delay, Verizon dumped its DSL +service to Frontier so we had one of the bi-weekly extended outages.
    No changes occurred when I changed the default printer to Adobe PDF.  All of my printers are new enough so that they can handle the current margins so I do not think that they is a problem there but changing the default as suggested by you and Michael eliminates that as the source.
    I had previously been able to convert using the built-in converter in Word but was unsure whether or not the result would be press quality and was unable to find this information in my searches.  I retested this and conversion using Word’s built-in converter works without a problem.
    The conversion using Combine Miles > Merge Into A Single PDF also works without a problem with the highest quality setting.  It took several hours to run but I guess or assume that it was because of the number of tags as this is a quick setting and therefore I could not disable the tagging which is not needed in this case.
    I was also able to convert the same file which had been saved from Word 2007 into the 1997-2003 format as described above but the same problem came up when using the Acrobat macro and Create PDF from File.  I had even created a modified press quality settings to modify settings like disabling autorotate, Object Level Compression, changed the binding option, lowered resolution, bumping the format up to PDF 1.7, etc., but all produce the same result.  I have tried changing the document margins in case the conversion process rounded these but all produce the same artifact/problem except when I use Combine Files or the converter built into Word.

    Why yes. How did you know that I saw the way, the truth and the light?
    I just had so many people ask me how to do this, that I thought I might share it with as many people as I could and help the masses To bad that Apple just did not have it as a simple "Save As:" Maybe in the next update.
