Oracle BI Server XML API in OBIEE 10g
Hi,
i would like to do some changes in RPD programmatically (via command line) .
I have come across biserverxmlgen and biserverxmlexec in OBIEE 11g.
Is there any equivalent commands available in OBIEE 10g?
Thanks,
Pandeesh
You may try with UDML. But you need to re-start BI server to see changes.

11g BI Server XML API: NQLocale.xml
Hi,
I want to use the BI Server XML API especially biserverxmlexec command to automaticaly modify my repository.
Like written in the library (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e16364/xml_about.htm) I first executed the bi-init.sh script.
After that I got an error about the shared libraries. I could solve the problem by setting the env LD_LIBRARY_PATH correctly.
But now the next error occurred:
Xml File Not Found error number -9, /oracle/home/bifoundation/server/locale/NQLocale.xml
Anybody got an idea to solve that problem?
Regards,
AndreHi Guys,
the bug reference fixes this problem for you: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/BugDisplay?id=10227146
Specifically, I think your question relates to HOW you invoke bi-init.sh, remember there is an extra dot and space *. ./bi-init.sh*
Hope this helps,
Justin

I am Try to install de Forms and service y an Windows 2003 Machine but when the installer is ready for install al package the Oracle Net Configuration Assitant send me this Error...
Environmental error detected: The current Oracle Home and the Oracle Home passed from the installer are not the same. Oracle Net Configuration Assistant cannot continue.
It is recommended that you continue installation without completing Oracle Net configuration. Once the installation is complete run the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant separately after checking that the ORACLE_HOME environment variable is not set (preferred on Windows platforms) or that it is set to the correct Oracle Home.
Oracle Net Services configuration failed. The exit code is 1
And we cannot continue installing the Oracle Form And Service.
i Hope Some one Help Me to Fix it.
Thanks So much...thanks a lot, I find the enviroment variable using the set command, my problem was that I never restart the computer, because I deleted this from the system form but in the system never was removed and the command set help me to find the problem.
I install succesfully.
I am very grateful -

How to change NLS_LANG setting of Oracle Application Server 10g R3
Hi
I understand that NLS_LANG for OAS 10g can be set in three different places
in the Windows registry \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME ( there is no this key in my Windows 2003 server)
– in the file opmn.xml the OC4J configuration ( <environment><variable id=”NLS_LANG” value=”″></environment>), there is no entry like this in the opmn,xml ( probably is using the default value)
– in Oracle HTTP server configuration ( which file....?)
Could any one answer the below question for me please:
1. What is the default value of NLS_LANG for an OC4J container (OAS 10g R3).
2. What is the default value of NLS_LANG for Oracle http server (OAS 10g R3).
3. How can I set a New value for NLS_LANG in both Oracle HTTP server and OC4J in OAS 10g R3.
Thanks so much for your promptly reply.Hi,
Make sure the value of the NLS_LANG environment variable is compatible with the default locale setting of the operating system.

Oracle Application Server 10g Cloning
Hi All,
Could anyone please advice on How we can create a cloned copy of 10g AS(including infra DB) for DR purpose.Any document or guideline will be highly appreciated.
Regards,Hi,
</p>
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think cloning is fine to copy or clone a middle-tier instance. But for a copy of infrastructure DB one needs to use the chapter next to the referred one.
</p>
11 Staging a Test Environment from a Production Environment</p>
Oracle® Application Server Administrator's Guide <br>
10g Release 2 (10.1.2) <br>
B13995-06 <br>
</p>
The term cloning is commonly used for copying the systems but in Oracle AS, it is for copying the middle-tier instances only. That difference is often misleading.
</p>
hope that helps. <br>

Oracle HTTP Server as web tier for OBIEE - Best Practices?
Hi All,
A bit of a cross-topic issue - IHAC which wants to add a web tier (in a form of additional DMZ server with Oracle HTTP Server installed) to existing OBIEE installation.
Are there any best practices regarding all the security aspects - installations, ports, SSL, certificates, keystores etc. ?
Thank you in advance,
RomanAm not using weblogic, I'm doing standalone setup
Standalone:
FMW 11g Web-Tier products are configured without a domain and administered from the command line. In this case, be sure to UN-check the selection for “Associate to WebLogic Domain” during the installation prompts and uncheck the web cache.. Only OHS is installed.

Hello, we have an Oracle 10G 10.2.0.4.0 64 bit db server installed on a Windows 2003 Sp2 64 bit server. We would like to rename the Windows Server name. Is that going to cause any problem to the installed Oracle db Server? Is there anything we need to change on the configuration of Oracle db server?

Since it is 10g, look at Support Note 465545.1 -

Thank you for your help on this issue.+OK, I did this once and did not follow the oracle docs
If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
Best Wishes (I was able to save mime)
The other option is to reinstall -
Client-cert auth impl in web.xml does not work in Oracle Application Server
Hi,
I am new to implementing security features on the web applications.. I have developed a new web service using jdev1012 and deployed in OAS 10.1.2. Its working fine according to the business requirements, but I am in need of implementing client-cert authentication to enable the web service available to only those who have client certificate.
My server details are:
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
Server certificate is in place and SSL mode have been already enabled.. able to access my web service through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS as well able to see the WSDL file through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS?WSDL.
I tried to include the following in my web.xml file as part of implementing CLIENT-CERT authentication.
<security-constraint>
<display-name>SecurityConstraint</display-name>
<web-resource-collection>
<web-resource-name>WSCollection</web-resource-name>
<url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
</web-resource-collection>
<user-data-constraint>
<transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee>
</user-data-constraint>
</security-constraint>
<login-config>
<auth-method>CLIENT-CERT</auth-method>
<realm-name>WSCollection</realm-name> <!-- am not sure about this realm-name and its purpose -->
</login-config>
It is not woking as expected, though I have restarted my oc4j container after including this content to the web.xml file. i.e, I am able to invoke the web service though my sample java client program, though I donot have client certificate/keystore.
I believe I am missing something..Can anyone help me in this regard to implement CLIENT-CERT authentication successfully?
Thanks,
MsI am having the same problem with doc and xsl. I have added this
<mime-mapping>
<extension>xls</extension>
<mime-type>application/vnd.ms-excel</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>
<mime-mapping>
<extension>doc</extension>
<mime-type>application/msword</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>
to my web.xml. I even restarted the server. I still see doc and xsl in binary.
Is there some other setting that needs to take place?
I am using WL6.1 with fixpack 1.
I can see the doc and excel files in the browser if I don't go through the weblogic
server. That just confirms it's not my browser.

Error creating connection to Oracle Application Server 10g(10.1.3)
Hey
Im using Oracle JDeveloper 10g and when i tried to create a new connection to Oracle App Server 10.1.3 and test it, I received the following error message
Error while parsing OPMN dump in XML format: XML Parse Exception: tag=[null] Ran out of data, content []
I have no idea what this means and any help on this will be highly appreciated. Thank you
ArjhunOK, in short:
Cause: Wrong OPMN request port used to configure the connection (third step of "Create Application Server Connection" wizard). You might have kept the default (6003) but your OPMN is configured with different request port.
Solution: Check $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml file and look for entry like this:
<port local="6140" remote="6240" request="6040" />
Create the connection using OPMN request port that is set in opmn.xml file.
Thanks

Directory structure and files in Oracle Application server 10g and 11g
Hi all,
I am doing a lab migration from 10g to 11g based on the use of JAXB. There were some directory structures used in 10g to store the JAXB jar files and some other custom jar files. I want to know the equivalent folder structures in SOA 11g server. The 10g server directories are mentioned below:-
1.<OracleAS_Home>\webservices\lib.
2. server.xml located at <OracleAS_Home>\j2ee\home\config in 10g. Where can I find the equivalent file to "server.xml" in 11g server?
3. <OracleAS_Home>\bpel\system\classes\com\oracle\bpel\xml\util.
4. <OracleAS_Home> \bpel\system\classes.Here are the equivalents as per best of my knowledge:
1. <WebLogic Home>\server\lib
For example, D:\Middleware\wls1036\wlserver_10.3\server\lib
2. config,xml located at <Domain_Home>\config\
For example, D:\Middleware\wls1036\user_projects\domains\ArunBaseDomain1036\config\config.xml
3. It should be the same as 10g (instead of OracleAS_Home, it will be ORACLE_Home) if you install the BPEL product. Since, I have not installed BPEL/SOA, I am not very sure.
4. It should be the same as 10g (instead of OracleAS_Home, it will be ORACLE_Home) if you installed the BPEL product.
Also, I would recommend that you consider using ORACLE Smart Upgrade (JDeveloper component) to help you with the upgrade process. It exactly points out these mappings of file/directory structures AND the necessary configuration changes as well.
If you are requirement, is only about making the library jars available to your application, then consider reading the below discussion.

Images in dashboard after deploying obiee 10g in weblogic server
Hi,
We have deployed OBIEE 10g in weblogic server at the location E:\BIDEP
Initially for OC4j server we placed the images in two places:
+1. E:\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\images+
+2. E:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\images+
and called the image in dashoard by Link or Image fmap:images/india.jpg We were able to disply images indashoard.
After deploying, we also placed the images in
+3. E:\BIDEP\res\s_oracle10\images+ (E:\BIDEP\ is the folder where we deployed obiee.)
Now we are unble to view the images in dashoard.
Please let us kow how to do this.
Thanks.Hi MK,
Thanks. It worked.
One clarification. for OC4j Server I placed images in below:
1. E:\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\images
2. E:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\images
For WLServer is it enough to place the images in below places:
1.E:\BIDEP\res\s_oracle10\images
2.E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\servers\BI2\stage\BIDEP\BIDEP\res
or I also need to place the images in below place also.
1. E:\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\images
In simple, at two places
1.E:\BIDEP\res\s_oracle10\images
2.E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\servers\BI2\stage\BIDEP\BIDEP\res
or at 3 places
1.E:\BIDEP\res\s_oracle10\images
2.E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\servers\BI2\stage\BIDEP\BIDEP\res
3.E:\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\images

I'm working with OBIEE 10.1.3.4, on Oracle Application Server on a Linux RHEL 5.4 32bit. I've spun up a second instance of the presentation service using the commands from RNM1978's blog here (http://rnm1978.wordpress.com/2009/08/25/multiple-rpds-on-one-server-part-2-presentation-services/). The reason why I have a second instance of the presentation service is for mobile reporting purposes. We have lots of executives using iPhones and the Oracle Business Intelligence Indicators application. The second instance defaults all charts to be PNGs, it also uses a separate, clean catalog, so that the executives don't get lost in all of the out of the box BI Applications content that is in our main catalog.
Everything is setup and working properly, both presentation services are accessible and use the same RPD but different catalogs. The only thing that isn't working is the presentation service cache. A lot of these reports are QTD or YTD so it takes a few minutes to run some. We were hoping to use iBots to create BI Server cache at the beginning of the day. That seemed to help a bit but it seems to clear after a few minutes.
Additionally, before we went to do demos to end users, we would run all the reports from a demo iPhone. Go to do the demo and within five minutes, the presentation cache would have already cleared. I confirmed the same by looking in the Session Manager of the second presentation service.
Does anyone know why this would be happening? I have cache turned on in the bi server and I also have the following settings in my instanceconfigMobile.XML:
<Cache>
<Query>
<CacheMaxEntries>1000</CacheMaxEntries>
<CacheMaxExpireMinutes>720</CacheMaxExpireMinutes>
<CacheMinExpireMinutes>720</CacheMinExpireMinutes>
<CacheMinUserExpireMinutes>720</CacheMinUserExpireMinutes>
</Query>
</Cache>
Are there other settings I need to investigate?
Is this just additional commands I need to run when launching the additional presentation service? Here's the command I'm using:
. ./common.sh
. ./sa-init.sh
sawserver -c /home/oracle/OracleBIData/web/config/instanceconfigMobile.xml >> /home/oracle/OracleBIData/web/log/sawserverMobile.out.log 2>&1 &
Thanks!

I can't say I've tried Robin's technique to run two presentation servers but from my basic understanding of it, both versions will share the same cache as defined in a single nqsconfig.ini file. Maybe these 2 are conflicting somehow?
I see that a separate instanceconfig.xml is used for each presentation server. I know there are a bunch of advanced, largely undocumented, cache properties you can set in there. I can send you a document listing the various properties if you want to play with it - contact me via my website.

Flex on Oracle Application Server 10g - security problems
Hi,
I'm working with Flex components (swf files), I'm trying to view them in a browser and i'm facing some security problems.
The server i'm trying to run the files on is: Oracle application server 10g on Unix server.
Please help me with the server's configuration to allow running swf files on it.
In the relation of Flex, there is a file that must be on the server's root named: "crossdomain.xml". This file defines which IPs can the swf object can take/get data from. Maybe there are configurations to that file that needs to be done on the server?
Thank you,
InbalNo. Not only it isn't certified, but it is also impossible to run forms compiled with the 11g compiler with the 10g runtime. For 11g there is a install bundle for the developer suite / application server.
cheers
