Can the stadard edition one support user roles and access priveleges for them, for example can I create a user called u1, create an access privelege read_only and assign u1 to read_only.
Also, can I do database audits on the standard edition one database.
Can also be reached at [email protected]
    Appreciate your response.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Here is the basic difference between Standard Edition One and Enterprise Edition
Oracle Database Standard Edition One :
Oracle Database Standard Edition One delivers unprecedented ease of
use, power, and performance for workgroup, department-level, and Web
applications. Standard Edition One can only be licensed on servers with
a maximum capacity of two processors.
    Oracle Database Enterprise Edition :
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition provides the performance,
availability, scalability, and security required for mission-critical
applications such as high-volume online transaction processing (OLTP)
applications, query-intensive data warehouses, and demanding Internet
applications. Oracle Database Enterprise Edition contains all of the
components of Oracle Database, and can be further enhanced with the
purchase of the options and packs.

  • Oracle Licensing Question on Processors  - Oracle 10g Standard Edtion One

We are a small finance company and wanted to buy Oracle database 10g Standard Edition One licenses.
We wanted to get a 15 users licenses(perpetual licenses)
Now when it comes to the server hardware where we will be installing the Oracle database, do we need
to make sure we have only 1 (or) 2 processors ?
Is there document which will tell me as what kind of processors or any limitations on the processors speed
I need to have on the Oracle database server ?

    Hi,
did you have a look at:
    https://shop.oracle.com/pls/ostore/wwv_flow_item_help.show_help?p_item_id=4777527003091012
? As far as I can see licensing 15 users on a 1-2 socket server should not be an issue. If you would have a bit more users you could consider a socket license (5800.- US$ / socket).
With Standard Edition One or with named users licensing you do not have to worry about the technical figures of your CPU. This is only needed when you license Enterprise Edition (EE) based on processor metric because then cores and processor type are used to calculate the amount of processor licenses.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle BPEL standard, best practice and naming convention

    Hi, folks,
Is there any standard or best practice associated with Oracle BPEL, regarding development, performace, what to avoid, etc? And is there any naming convention for the process, variable partner link name, etc? Similar to naming convention in writing Java code?
    Thanks

  • Oracle 11g Standard Edition + Locator Java API

We have Oracle 11g Standard which includes the Oracle Locator package, but not the Oracle Spatial.
I would like to use the Oracle® Spatial Java API in my java code, but am unsure of the licensing implications of this.
I require some form of java api in order to access the geomettry objects stored in the database. Oracle do not allow the download of the java files seperately. I was unable to find any reference to a 'Oracle Locator Java API'
Could someone let me know what exists in terms of Java API's, what i am entitled to use under the current licensing rules, and where I can download the necessary source/jar files?

Thanks for letting me know the location of the jar files, that will at least help me get things going.
I am still concerned about licensing issues, as your reply appears to contradict itself:
"There is no licensing issues if you just want to use Oracle Spatial Java API(sdoapi.jar) with your spatial data in the Oracle 11g Standard DB."
    and
"You cannot use some oracle spatial features (PL/SQL packages and their java APIs) in the standard edition."
I could use some clarification on this. I'm currently assuming that you mean I can legitimately use the spatial java API with any features I have available within the 11g Standard DB (i.e Oracle Locator subset of the Oracle Spatial package), but that I can't take that for granted, especially considering how militant Oracle are being over licensing and patents these days.

  • Operating system support (standard and enterprise ) in OBIEE 11g

    Hi
Can any one help me in whether OBIEE 11g installation will be possible in both standard & enterprise edition operating system of windows server 2003 and windows server 2008 or not.
    Thanks in advance.

OBIEE 11g is an application which runs on the Weblogic Application Server. Then if the windows plateform are supported for Weblogic, OBIEE 11g is also supported.
I assume that you talk about Standard Edition one and Enterprise Edition.
    http://gerardnico.com/wiki/_detail/dat/obiee/obi_edition.jpg?id=dat%3Aobiee%3Astart
When we talked about Standard Edition on 10g, it was not about Oracle BI but on Discover for the reporting plateform.
If you want to be really sure, you can ask it to your representative sale.
    Cheers

  • Oracle DB Standard Edition One

    Hello

    Regards

Download 'Oracle Database'. Run installer and select 'Standard Edition'. Ensure you stay in the hardware limits defined in the Licensing doc (1 server, 2 CPU max) available at http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/toc.htm

  • Use Oracle BI Standard Edition One with multiple instances

    Hi!
Our problem is that we have four resource instances (one for testing, and three with datas from different customers) and we do not know how to switch in Oracle BI Standard Edition One between them. For us it seems that is not possible.

BI SE one is restricted to one RDBMS data source.
2.2.1 Oracle BI Standard Edition One usage
You can install Oracle BI Standard Edition One on a machine with up to two CPUs, and it can serve from five to 50 users. Oracle Warehouse Builder can pull data from any source, but the target database is limited to the included Oracle Database. Oracle BI and Oracle BI Publisher data sources are limited to the included Oracle Database, exactly one other database, and as many flat file data sources (for example, spreadsheets) as you require.

  • Oracle Database Standard Edition One's Cost

    Dear all
I am very interest on the Oracle Database Standard Edition One, (US$149 per user (minimum five users)) includes the functionality and the cost (only US$ 149*5). However, I would like to know that is there any hidden cost for it? (e.g. maintaince fee etc.) Meanwhile, is there any backward compatible for the such license (i.e. I buy 10g version but use 8/8i version in production)
Anyone can has such experience and share for it?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

There is generally a lot of confusion around Standard Editoin One. Here is my understanding, along with rationale and links supporting my understanding.
    1) Standard Edition One was NOT part of Oracle8i, and NOT part of Oracle9i release 1.
Oracle's "Oracle9i Family of products" document, released shortly after 9iR1, does not mention SE1. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle9i/pdf/o9i_family_features.pdf
    2) Standard Edition One MAY be part of Oracle9i Release 2 family, but it's not likely.
On metalink, there are a few 'forum' documents that discuss SE1 and Oracle9i. However, document #530049.994 from forum thread "Is Standard Edition One available in 9i/9ir2", dated 05-OCT-2004 says SE1 is a 10g new thing. (This post should be available in these forums.)
    3) No-one purchasing a new license should be installing a fresh copy of Oracle8i and probably not Oracle9i
You purchase the license primarily to obtain (be able to purchase) support. Oracle8i is no longer under support (except through an exorbitantly priced extended support contract) and Oracle9i is abount to be mved to extended support. The question is ... why?
    4) Personal Edition is NOT being replaced by SE1.
The Standard Edition One is a subset of Standard Edition - mainly missing RAC, so it is limited to one machine only. From the Oracle Database 10g Licensing document we note that the Personal Edition provides ALL FEATURES AND OPTIONS of the Enterprise Edition, except RAC.
It is fairly obvious from this that Personal Edition is targetted at developers who need metalink access, whereas Standard Edition One is targetted at workgroups that would consider using SQL Server STabdard/Workgroup Edition.

  • Best way to change from Oracle 11gR2 Standard Edition to Standard one..?

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle 11gR2 Standard edition+ installed database and additional software (which looks into the Oracle 11g database) in around 20 PCs (company)
But now the management says that they got license only for 11g Standard one edition (Standard one is significantly cheaper than standard edition)
So I have to change the Oracle edition from Standard to Standard one now..We only need standard one edition features in the PCs.
Can somebody please advise what would be the best way to do this? Do I have to uninstall all database and reinstall standard one edition again?
I will be grateful if somebody says some kind of upgrade is possible(in this case degrade!)..
Pls ..waiting for a reply..its very urgent!
    Thanks&regards..

Yes I agree there was standard and standard one options and I selected standard.
    But how to confirm?
    SQL> select banner from v$version;
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE 11.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
It doesnt say anything..where else will I check?
Also as said in the previous post,
    1) SE max. 4 sockets , SE1 2 sockets <======== hardware restriction
    2) No RAC on SE1
    3) No Automatic Workload Management (a RAC feature) on SE1
    These apply to us.
So can we get a SE1 license, since we are not on RAC and satisfy all criteria for standard one.
    Thanks&Regards
