Oracle BIEE And BAM

Hi
I want to know what is the actual purpose of BIEE. As I know BIEE is only used for read only Data we can not display current situation or running data on BIEE but we can do this on BAM. And also we can use BAN for stored Data as well as running data. Then what is the actual use of BIEE. If BAM is also available.

Yes I have seen the same issue with mine too.the problem with because of have huge number of tables in APPS schema in EBS.
In my case I waited about 21 minutes ,after that the tables got populated, even if got i am not able to select my required table.I tried lot of time I am finally created DataObject.
after tables got populated I used key board to select tables by using up arrows & down arrows to select Table.
I think this techniques may useful, be patience you will get!!

Oracle EBS and BAM

I am trying to integrate Oracle EBS R12 with BAM, so I created external data source in BAM and it got created successfully.
But when I try to select the table from this data source in order to create data object, the lov for table name never shown up, it has been busy for a long time in getting table names from this data source and after sometime, its going out.
I know this may be because we have huge number of tables in APPS schema in EBS.
Is this the best way to integrate EBS with BAM through external data source or any other suggestible way?

Oracle BIEE Single Sign-On

Can single sign-on be use for Oracle BIEE and another portal application? What is needed to configure the two application? Does Oracle BIEE 10.1.3.2 come with OAS?

SSO integration is covered in the OBIEE deployment guide. It currently supports two kings of SSO environments:
1. Oracle SSO (OSSO)
2. Anything else
The second option must be able to call the remote user interface but I have not implemented this so can not comment further.
OSSO refers to use of Oracle Infrastructure with OID and the implementation is quite simple but only follow the chapter on integrating to OSSO and not Oracle Application Server. This is some this else entirely.

Problem with pages name in dashboard Oracle BIEE 11g

I use Oracle BIEE 11.1.1.3.0
I have dashboard 'CBR_CTLOG'. Dashboard has two pages 'Протокол контроля' and 'Протокол контроля детализированный'.
Both pages have dashboards prompt with active "Apply to all prompt pages"
When I go from 'Протокол контроля' to 'Протокол контроля детализированный', I get error:
Invalid path (/shared/CBR/_portal/CBR_CTLOG/РџСЂРѕС‚РѕРєРѕР» РєРѕРЅС‚СЂРѕР»СЏ РґРµС‚Р°Р»РёР·РёСЂРѕРІР°РЅРЅС‹Р№) -- path not found in dashboard
But when pages have English name "Test" and "Test2", I don't get this error.
I think, it's connected with that I don't use English languages for pages name, and BI EE don't make link for crossing.
How can I solve this problem, because I can't use English names for pages.

BIEE and BI Publisher standalone

Hi,
I am new to BI, I went through OBE for BIEE and BI Publisher. I have installed BIEE (and BI publisher desktop) successfully, when I launch BI Publisher shipped with BIEE, I dont get admin tab and thus account tab in preferences. Moreover, no option to create new report etc however, I can work in Dashboard and Answers. Then I installed BI Publisher standalone, I performed this installation twice, once it was installed at 9704 port (when OC4J of BIEE was stopped) and next time at 9705 port (when OC4J service was running). With this new installation I got admin tab and was able to create report and word template etc. But with that installation I was unable to proceed with section "Creating BI Publisher Reports Based on Various Data Sources" of BI getting started OBE : http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bipub/intro/gettingstarted.htm as MS word can either connect to 9705 BI installation only. Can any one please guide me what I am missing and that should BIEE and BI Publisher standalone be installed on same PC or not, or, what else I need to do to complete that OBE.
NOTE: I have done all installation on VMWare, I hope it has nothing to do with the problem I am facing.

There are several reasons as to why you can have the BIP Admin tab missing in your installation. This issue is very well covered in the forum so I suggest you use the forum search and read them all.

Integrating BPM 11g and BAM

Hi everyone,
I'm using Oracle SOA Suite PS4 (11.1.1.5) on Oracle Linux 6, 64-bit.
I have a simple BPM project, from which I want to send data to BAM to be able build a BAM dashboard.
I went through all neccessary steps:
1. I configured BAM adapter
2. I configured BPMN engine for BAM integration
3. I imported BAM Monitor Express
4. I configured BPM project (enabled BAM and provided JNDI,...)
I've repeated previous steps several times and I'm pretty sure that I didn't do any mistake. I also tried to restart servers, etc.
However, when I deploy the project the BI data object is not created as it should be and also when I create a new composite instace, the following errors occur in SOA server log:

There is no error on BAM server so it looks like the SOA server (BAM adapter) can't connect to BAM (java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused).

Hi,
I also had the same issue with 11.1.1.5. The data objects were not getting created. I manually created the data object using BAM Architect. And that solved my issue. I was able to see graphs in BAM.
However, 11.1.1.4 is working fine. It creates the data objects for BAM during deployment.

Oracle biee presentation service is not starting

Today i installed oracle biee on my machine(having windows vista) andreplaced all corresponding files (like .rpd file & catalog and modify the nqsconfig.ini & instanceconfig.xml files). but when i tried to start the oracle bi presentation service, it was not starting(though i already started the oracle bi server and java host service).
i got the following error prompt:
"Windows could not start BI Presentation server on local computer.
For more information,review the system event log.if this is non-microsoft service,contact the service vendor, and refer to service specific error code-1"
Then i again replaced all the files to the default one(paint.rpd and paint catalog) and again tried to restart the service but this time i got the "error : 1053 Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Is oc4j running? otherwise start it form Start>All Programs>Oracle Business Intelligence>Start OC4J.
Then start Presentation services (sawserver.exe in the OracleBI/web/bin directory or from Control Panel>Administrative tools> Services
Then try the wbe URL

I have a Technote that shows how the information can be published from EBS to BAM. In addition you could create an end to end visibility across the products e.g. B2B - BPEL - EBS - Financials etc by raising the events to BAM .
There is no out of the box dashboards available today. However, i have a number of customers who are doing this use case by themselves or through some SI/Oracle consulting.

How to have Weblogic and BAM process run in background

I ssh to the Weblogic (also the BAM) server via putty and use below command to start the weblogic and BAM:
/opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh
/opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1
And then I have no way to have the weblogic and BAM run in backgroup as it needs to ask me for login and password. I cannot close the ssh connection neither otherwise the weblogic and BAM processes will die

Both these points can be easily handled.
To start admin server enter the below command with the &. This & will make the process run in background.
. /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh &
If you want the logs to be redirected to some file then you can use a nohup as given below
nohup . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh &
Same holds good for bam serevr also
. /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 &
OR
nohup . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 &
It will respond to you with the process-id, you can just hit an enter and safely close the putty session while the server is still up & running.
To stop the same, in a new putty session you can enter the below. Here you need not(will not) give &
. /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/stopWebLogic.sh weblogic welcome1 t3://hostname:port
. /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/stopManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 t3://hostname:port

As you see above we are not passing user-id/password while starting the server. We need to create a file named boot.properties and place it in /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/AdminServer/security directory. security directoy will not be present, you have to create it.
Contents of boot.properties file will be only 2lines as below
username=weblogic
password=welcome1
On next startup server will encrypt the password.
Same boot.properties file has to be created in /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/bam_server/security location.

Oracle BIEE export to excel

Hello everyone.
I'm having troubles exporting an excel file from an oracle BIEE analysis.
Once the file is saved, the data have nothing to do with what I see in the analysis.
Could it be an issue due to the combination of commas, percent symbol and dots
that have a different meaning in BIEE and excel?
Is there a way to change some settings? Because so far the only thing I did is to hit export->excel

Please post the details of OBIEE version and the Excel version you are using.
Is the issue with one file or all files?
There are many issues with Excel AND OBIEE reported on MOS website (as you see below) so it would be more helpful if you could provide more details.

Oracle biee for windows vista

well today i installed the oracle biee on my machine(having windows vista).
Do i need to download the seperate dump of oracle biee for windows vista or dump for windows xp will work?????

Oracle BIEE Home Change

Good Afternoon All
Here is my Question.
When logged into OBIEE 11G (Analytics) and you then navigate to Home.
The Browser page header says "Oracle BIEE Home"
Is there any way i can change this to "Home Page" for example.

Oracle, Null and empty Strings

Currently I'm facing problems with a class, which contains a String, which
is set to "" (empty String).
When the class is persistent, oracle writes null to the table column
(which seems to be common oracle behaviour) and when retrieving the class,
the field is set to null as well, giving me a lot of null-pointer
exceptions.
Anyway ... I can cope with that (just a lot of extra work)
far worse is the problem, wenn searching objects, that have this field set
to "" oder null.
Oracle can't find the records because JDO creates Querys "where
string=null" or "where string=''" , where oracle expects "where string is
null" to find the records.
Is there a workaround or solution ?

Yeah, that would work as well, thx, but since I have to cope with
null-Strings now everywhere in my program, it doesn't hurt just to forbid
empty strings on the program side.
In future times I'll test on Oracle first, then porting to DB/2 - this way
I suppose work is far less to garant compability.
Nevertheless ... having to set the bankcode into quotes is a kodo bug in
my opinion.
Kodo knows the type of classfields (in this case string) and shouldn't
send the parameter as a BigDecimal to the database.
Given that, and having only bankcodes of null (only neccesary when using
Oracle), the method would look like:
public Collection getAccounts (String bankCode)
throws Exception
return getAccounts (Account.class, "bankcode=="+bankcode);
which is how a transparent persistent layer, um, should be , um , I mean
... just transparent ;-D

Select query differences between oracle 9 and oracle 8.

I have a problem using the select query between oracle 7 and oracle 9i I don't have the same result :
ex:
With oracle7
SQL> select 'champ1','champ2' from DUAL;
'CHAMP 'CHAMP
champ1 champ2
With Oracle 9
SQL> select 'champ1','champ2' from DUAL;
'CHAMP1' 'CHAMP2'
champ1 champ2
So Can someone tell me how to solve this problem ? Is there a parameter in oracle 9 to set?

Whenever you are posting anything over internet forums like this - you should be very careful about not just posting the details which requires to solve the problem - also should be sensible about your question.
This is not at all desired when you are posting such question. It may be because - you may not well aware of the fact.
My suggestion is -> First Go through the basics Of SQL in general.
Then go for any specific product like Oracle/ SQL Server/ Sybase etc.
And, finally learn the advanced commands of that DB.
You asked it - may be you thought the difference in output in terms of lines. But, that is not your actual output. That is the graphical display part only.
Anyway,
