Oracle BPA suite NOT WORKING

I download BPA suite today and installed in Window XP. But when I click create new model and group, it goes on starting standard database and error saying "unable to run local business server" What am I doing wrong or what I have to do to rectify this.
I ask my coworker to install this. He has the same problem as I have.
Not sure how to do about this????????????

I have posted a work around for this problem in other threads of this forum, please go through them.
by the way, this is a problem thats been occuring to too many people. high time that oracle does something about it. :) ,
i have not been able to replicate this problem to be able to work on this.

Oracle BPA drilldown not working on Lanes?

I am using Oracle BPA v10.1.3.4.271679 on 32 bit Windows and have found that when I have a function or sub-process sited on a Lane I cannot drill down to any assigned models by double clicking on the drilldown icon.
If I drag the object off of the lane drilldown works just fine.
This is annoying, is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
one simple explanation could be that you have selected the lane when trying to drill down on the icon. In this combination the drill down sometimes is not possible.
This is the same in ARIS and I consider it "a feature" ;-)
If this is not the case we have to investigate further

Sequence diagram lifeline in Oracle BPA Suite

I try to create sequence diagram in Oracle Busines Process Architect 11g. I use type of model "UML Sequence diagram". But in palette there is no object with type "Lifeline". How can I add lifelines to my sequence diagram?

y dont you first go to designer/explorer , make sure you see the navigator frame, and click on "local" in navigator frame to start the local database first. adn then login to any database to create a model/group.
In case it does not even happen then, and it still says unable to start the local server, check out the logs in <Oracle BPA Suite>\LocalServer\log directory and check what the error is.

Seeded Reports within Oracle BPA Suite...

Folks,
Would you be able to point me towards any Demo Script
that I could follow against our Demo Databases to test all the
seeded reports within BPA?
I was looking to run these reports against any of these Demo Database:
"Demo70" or "United Motors Group" or "Quote To Cash"
In lieu of randomly running the report against any model within this
Demo database; I was hoping to find some structure I could follow to
see a tangible & pertinent output. This would have also demonstrated
which Model Types were pertinent for which reports & vice versa...

Well, in the case of the eval 11g the server is embedded with the BPA Suite and/or is simply Oracle XE. I had restarted both of these and since it is Windows, I restarted Windows too. Nothing worked.
So, I ended up exporting (well, backing up) those "databases" that I wanted and reinstalled everything. That, too, was quite the experience. At least the eval copy of this is not consistent in behavior (seems the version on the server changes daily, although I couldn't get the latest one to install, reverted to a saved version of the download), the install does not work consistently and even worse, when the install fails there are no such indications... it all looks just fine (in my case, attempts to use non-default tablespaces did not work, the log file indicated a bad login without any details on what really failed, yet install didn't say a thing)...
Based solely on my experience with the eval copy, if it were up to me, I would not use this product at all. You may have other experiences, but the lack of current and correct documentation along with inconsistent behavior makes the administration of this tool a guessing game...even restoring the database that I had backed up failed the first time (couldn't login), but I could delete it, and attempted again and it worked that time. Just very poor error messages (as in none), and inconsistent behavior doesn't lead to trusting this very much, if at all.

I've done some browsing on BPA Suite today and found some great documents around it and would like to download BPA to get my hands dirty but can't seem to find any downloads for it.

Oracle 11g XE not working with oracle BI publisher 10g after enabling ACL

I previously work with oracle 10gXE and Oracle BI publisher 10g and it work fine. now i install oracle 11g XE and try to configure it with oracle Bi Publlisher, it show this error
"ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1324 ORA-12570: TNS:packet reader failure" after runing the ACL package to neable network service.
on the database.
Please can any body tell be why this is not working. Tanx.

You'll need to add the apex engine owner to the ACL (Access Control List). Depending on your version of apex the user name varies. i.e. 4.0 is APEX_040000

Oracle & PHP/Apache not working togather for unicode (working individually)

hi, i have oracle xe zend core for oracle installed.
When i insert data through aplication express or oracle sql developer its perfect. Unicode can be inserted and viewed, but when I try to view same data through php script it display ??? signs only english character show properly.
Seems the unicode enviourment issue with php/apache and oracle communication, as php pages display uniode correctly when not taking data from oracle. I need help
I have gone through globlizing_oracle_php_applications.pdf and have enabled mbstring, also php charset is utf8 i also used 'AL32UTF8' in connection string.
Also if someone can provide a small sample php script to insert or view unicode data.

root the php module seems to be not working as the
displayed index.php was just text page. I tried with
apache2 as well but the result was the same.I don't believe the apache included with Solaris 10 includes PHP support; you will probably have to re-compile it . See the README file in /etc/apache for the actual config of the distributed version.

Oracle equals_path condition NOT working with table and materialized view

The user i am using is xdb with dba role.
1.When i try to use the statement
SELECT PATH FROM xdb.path_VIEW

2. When i drop the path_view and recreated it like materialized view with statement

Thanks Jonah. I was under the impression that I already had it but seems like it has to be a direct priv - thru a role doesn't work.
I granted the reqd privs and then it worked fine. Thx for your help!

Oracle 6i Report Not working

Hi,
I have a Oracle Apps - 6i Report works fine with one instance and the same report does not fetch any records in the other instance..
Even its not printing the messages in the before report trigger, when i query from the backed it fetches records. This is really strange..
Please any one help me on this.

Oracle 10g Client not working from Vista Business

Hi,
I have installed Oracle 10g Rel2 DB on my desktop (OS Vista Ultimate X64 bit) and try to connect from my new laptop (OS Vista business) after installing the client software which does not work, whereas I am able to connect to same database from my other laptop using Windows XP. The tnsnames.ora files on both laptops have the same contents. Moreover, the SQL Plus is also not working on the vista laptop, I mean when I try to login the window closes down itself it doesn't stay open even to give any error message. . . Any ideas would be a great help . . .thx

Did you install the Vista specific Oracle client?

Oracle Developer Suite not installing

Hello all.
Please, I am trying to install the Oracle Devoper Suite on a Vista Home Premium and followed the steps to do it. After entering my SMTP server name, the installation will disappear and I really don't know what to do about it. I set the compatibility as requested, and now I would not know if this is linked to the edition of my Vista.

I disabled the One Care anti virus and really don't know what is the problem, I tried to bypass the SMTP server at first and really could not get something tangible. I don't know if not having a local DB running is a problem, I have been at this task since morning and the installation could not pick at first, but after seeing Steve recommendations, I was able to start it, but as mentioned, it fails somewhere and I don't know maybe pasting the logs here could show you that there is no error thrown. And I noticed that the privilege level is disabled, but am able to run it by right clicking and choosing run as Administrator.

The sessions in this track will cover Oracle Mobile Application Framework, Mobile Suite, JDeveloper, Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, SOA Suite, Service Bus, and more, in sessions that specifically deal with various aspects of mobile computing.
However, it is entirely possible that Oracle BPM will be included in a future Virtual Technology Summit.
