Oracle BPEL server installation - Infrastructure requirement

I am trying to check the feasibility analysis of infrastructure / Hardware required for installation of Oracle BPEL process engine.
We have a separate database server and Application server.
DB server and App server config details are :
2 HP RP 3440 Servers with PA-RISC2.0 with
8GB of RAM.
Oracle 10g database is present in DB server.
Oracle Application server 10g is present in the Apps server.
If we want to install Oracle BPEL server in OracleAS Middle Tier architecture, should we install Oracle BPEL process manager in a separate server or can we install in one of the existing DB or Apps server.
Please help me on this.

Oracle VM Server Installation Issues

The Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 installation hangs after I pick US keyboard and does nothing after. I’ve tried other options including an old version of VM Server and I receive an error that states "isw: untested metadata version 1.2.04 found on /dev/sda", although the installation hangs in the same place. I’m not sure what the issue is and need some help.
Also, just as a test, I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux R5-U5-Server on the hardware without any issues. I see everything, and it is a nice OS.
Hardware details:
I had Fry’s build a U4 server.
Six 300 GB 10k rpm SATA on a raid 5 stripe
Two 1.8 TB 7200 rpm SATA on a raid 0 mirror
Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R
24GB of DDR3 memory
Intel Core i7-980X 3.33 GHX 12MB 6Core processor 64Bit

In order to get your HDs detected you will need to create a driver disk. Check this link out so you can create one.

What the driver disk will do is load the driver disk image you need, and once you do that it should auto detect your drives.
This should at least get you headed in the right direction :)
Of course steps before creating the driver disk you will need to find out what driver you require and get a driver disk image of that driver to load to your bootable floppy/usb. In the example page they use a floppy, but any bootable media will work.

Oracle BPEL DB Installation with irca -Failing!!!

I am trying to install Oracle BPEL 10.1.3.1 as a standalone component on Oracle DB 10.2.0. I have set ORACLE_HOME and tested that I can connect to sqlplus using the following option:-
sys/<sys_password>@<service_name> as sysdba
However when I am running the irca option using:
irca orabpel "<ip> <port> <servicename>" <sys_password> -overwrite ORABPEL
I am getting the following exception:-
ERROR: Failed to establish database connection due to the following error:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
System password for DB is : manager
The DB doesn't contain any 'ORABPEL' user.
Please let me know where am I going wrong?This is really urgent.I have a project delivery.

Is this a Windows install. if so can you run the command sqlplus / as sysdba I suspect you will get the same error.
What did you specify your global name when you installed the database?
you can check this by login as sys or system and run the command
show parameter service
what ever this returns use this as the service name.

Not able to create a Volume Group in the oracle VM server installation

I am installing Oracle VM server. In the installtion ( Partition time ), i click on create custom layout and i want to create a / partition as a logical volumn under volume group. But there is no option to create a Volume group actually. So can anybody help how to create a volume group actually and how to create a logical volume under volume group.

Oracle BPEL interactive installation in command prompt

Hi All,
I'm trying to install Oracle BPEL Process Manager for OC4J in linux environment at remote.I login to the remote machine through SSH.
I would like to know if there is any guide to install through command line. I mean interactive installer in command prompt, not the silent installation
I know it can be done by 2 ways:
1. Initiating the runInstaller by setting DISPLAY variable and having X-Client running on local machine.
2. Silent Installation.
Can I do interactive installation through command prompt?

Oracle BPEL Server version 10.1.3.4.0 - which JDeveloper version?

I am working on a Beehive project, that has a BPEL 10.1.3.4.0 server integrated. Is there a restriction concerning the JDeveloper version to use for development? I am currently using JDev 11.1.1.2.0 , but noticed that there is no possibilty to directly deploy to an OC4J connection type. So I figured that there might be incompatibilities.

According to me JDeveloper versions 10.1.3.3 or 10.1.3.4 or 10.1.3.5 - all are good for your scenario as you are using Oracle BPEL 10g.
But for JDeveloper version 11.1.1.2.0, I will keep my reservations as the concept that how BPEL projects are created, packaged and deployed (i.e. SCA suites) are changed considerably from 10g to 11g. Hence I will suggest to stick to any JDeveloper 10.1.3.x version for your scenario. You can download them from archived section of JDeveloper downloads on Oracle website.

Listner issues in Oracle 11g server installation

Hi,
I am facing problem while connecting to Oracle 11g server on 'Windows 7 Enterprise edition - 32 bit OS'.
I have successfully installed Oracle 11g server on Windows & enterprise machine.
Listener and TNSnames.ora files are fine. But I am not able to connect through Oracle client machine. it shows 'TNS: Could not resolve the service name'.
When I check the listener status on the server, it shows the service ABBPROD is READY, but still not able to connect through client machine. I have gone through many similar threads and tried out the solutions provided but the problem still exists. Few of the things I tried are as below.
1. I have tried changing the ORACLE_SID and setting the $ORACLE_HOME parameter.
2. Tried replacing the HOST as 'localhost' to system IP address/computer name
3. Listener stop and start
4. Service stop and start
5. Checked the firewall settings of the server machine

Oracle Aplication Server and Infrastructure

Hi,
I have three servers: production, development for databases and Aplication Server (middletier). In the production server has a infrastructure for the Aplication Server. But i don't know if is it correct install on development server another infrastructure for the same Aplication Server?

PROD Server 1: Oracle DB (hopefully 10.2.0.3) + Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) Infrastructure
PROD Server 2: Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) Middle-tier (Forms)
Now, you have yet another server:
DEV Server 3: Oracle DB (hopefully 10.2.0.3)
What's now your question?
1. Are you asking how to have the Forms on PROD Server 2 accessing data on DEV Server 3? or,
2. Wanting to install another Application Server (Forms) on DEV Server 3?
Solutions:
1. Just add an entry in your formsweb.cfg (userid=) pointing to the new DB server
2. Either install Infrastructure + Middletier on DEV Server 3 (or install App Server Forms & Reports Standalone)

Oracle database server Installation on windows

Hello together,
We have several Oracle installation inhouse. All on different servers. Now we would to merge the Oracle database on one production and on one test server.
What is the best way to do that? We must decide between Windows and Linux Server.
On the windows Server we must use a Enterprise 64bit system to get i.e. 32 memory.?!! Is that right?

Hi,
As a quick test, can you check whether you are able to connect to that Oracle DB using sys?
If DB is in remote machine, please check the accessibility.
If you are still not able to do it with db config tool, you can try manually using the link

Errors while installing Oracle BPEL Server version 10.1.3.1.0

I am new to Oracle middleware. Ofcourse I am not new to middleware altogether.
I am getting wide varieties of errors while installing the software. Everytime a new error is popping up.I have installed/uninstalled the software for almost 10 times and I have started loosing faith on the software and the support There is absolutely no documentation what so ever.
I find this forum may be able to help.

I have updated the hosts file with the the loop back address.
You mentioned "You need to be able to resolve your machine's FQDN to the IP you allocated the loopback adapter". Is there anything specifc you would like me to try.
BTW I am using oracle lite and I have chosen the option " for developers" while installing the BPEL PM software
The settings you have indicated if I am correct are for fullOracle DB than OracleLite. If it is, cna you post similar settings for Oracle Lite.
