Oracle BPM 10.3g Workspace

Hi
I am using OBPM 10.3g . Can anybody tell me that how to add, Edit and deltete the existing colums
(*, Case, Tracking, Type, Category, Stationery, Application, Decision, Print, Participant
and Received) in the Oracle BPM Workspace under the Work Items.
Thanks

this is the list of your project variables. you can add and remove them as per ur requirement.
In workspace, once you login as a particiapnt you can modify your workspace by adding and removing the columns.
Or you can do the same thing by working in the presentation in workspace administrator!!
Just see in the middle of your workspace on page load - u can see an option as add/remove columns.
If this dont answer what you are asking for, pls describe more on what you need!
Have a nice time..

  • Can't Start Oracle BPM Workspace

I'm trying to start oracle BPM workspace through this URI http://localhost:7001/bpm/workspace but it gives me an error which is:
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    *10.4.5 404 Not Found*
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
If anyone know about that, please help me.I can't complete my semester project_
Note: it works when I try to start the following URIs:
    http://localhost:7001/console/login/LoginForm.jsp
    http://localhost:7001/em

Most likely you didn't check the 'Oracle BPM Suite'/'Oracle BPM Suite for developers' when you configured the SOA domain. Go to '<YOUR_MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\Oracle_SOA1\common\bin\' and run the config.cmd.
Choose 'Extend an existing Web Logic Domain' and then be sure to select 'Oracle BPM Suite'/'Oracle BPM Suite for developer'. Then it should work.
    Good luck,

  • Error during addition of external link to oracle BPM workspace

    Hi All,
I just want to add an external link to oracle BPM workspace and I've followed this tutorial :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/user.1111/e15175/bpmug_ext_apps.htm
but I am neither able to view the required, nor getting any error.
During deployment time I'm only getting this message :
Issues were encountered while parsing this deployment to determine module type. Assuming this is a library deployment.
    I'm using the virtual m/c version : oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps4-fp-Workshop-Exp_2
Please help me to resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

What I meant to say is check the logs at the time you are getting the error since sometimes the logs can be huge in size

  • Oracle BPM 11g Workspace -  Load Management Among Users

    Hi,
We are using version Oracle BPM 11g - 11.1.1.5 Feature Pack.
Kindly throw light how to distribute work among users in a group. This can be achieved using group rules in BPM workspace.
    1. Logged in as weblogic in bpm workspace.
    2. Go to Preferences -> My Rules -> Other Rules tab.
    3. Enter the group name and click search icon.
    4. Select the group & click green plus icon to create a rule.
    5. Here, select the Round Robin option.
    6. Save the rule.
Yet tasks are assigned to all the users in the group & not in Round Robin fashion.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle BPM Workspace and IE 11 Compatibility issues

    Hi all,
I am using Oracle BPM 10g and when I use IE 9 (till IE 11) or firefox latest versions , chrome,etc.. I get a pop-up with the title "execution" and unable to close the pop-up as well.
Can you please suggest if there is some configurations I should look into?
However, the strange thing is when I enable "Compatibility view settings" in IE 9 and higher, there are no issues seen and the workspace is rendered as expected.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Alice

    Hi Alice,
Not the answer you were looking for, but here is the compatibility matrix for Oracle BPM 10g.

Looks like IE 9 is not supported for some reason, but versions other versions of IE and Firefox are.  You might have to reach out to Customer Support.

  • How to display workitems values with Hyperlink in Oracle BPM workspace

    Hi,
In Oracle BPM workspace , is there any way to display hyperlinks for work items i,e., I want to give a hyperlink to the values displayed in the default columns under the work items. So that if user clicks any hyperlink , a new information window will be displayed.
    Thanks
    Bharath.

    Hi,
If you create a derived table and pull the objects i guess it should work. Other wise this error will throw up.
There are some ideas to resolve this here, but not sure it will work - Error trying to modify SQL in Data Provider

  • How to read Extended user property in oracle BPM?

    Hi,
I have tried using the XPATH expression in Data Association to read an Extended User Property defined in Oracle BPM Workspace. Actually I'm using Active Directory for authentication, and as there is limitations for modifying existing AD to accommodate custom fields required for BPM Processes, I created an Extended User  Property called Department Code and mapped it for all users who should be participating in the process. Now I want to read this Department Code and display in ADF Form (Human Task Form).
I tried something like this using XPATH Expr. in Data Association for Human Task :
    ids:getUserProperty(bpmn:getProcessInstanceAttribute('creator'), 'departmentCode')
But it appears that using Identity Function exposed for Xpath we can only read some pre-defined set of properties associated with internal LDAP for weblogic. So please suggest what is the approach one should follow in order to read Extended User Properties defined in Oracle BPM Workspace.

  • Oracle BPM 11.1.1.5 Performance issues

    Hi,
I have 2 Node Cluster of Oracle SOA 11.1.1.5 installed. Have a separate cluster for SOA/BPM, BAM, OSB, WSM. Here are the OS and Java versions
    Java Vendor: HP
    Java Version: 1.6.0.14
    OS: HP-UX
    OS Version: B.11.31
Running into an issue where Oracle BPM is performing very slow the task forms takes forever to come up and performing any actions takes too long to proceed som time it keeps timing out. I have over 100 SOA Process running plus some BPM Process but BMP Workspace application is running too slow as have customized tasks forms. But the same works a bit better in other instance which is non-clustered. Any idea what can be done on the server level to get around the performance issues. So far have modified Audit Levels and reduced soa-infra bpm log have the following settings in setDomainEnv.sh for USER_MEM_ARGS=-Xms2000m -Xmx6000m -XX:PermSize=1000m

After changing JVM settigns for soa cluster it's a bit better but still slow so wondering what other tweaks can be done on the JVM side. Here is what is for the SOA Cluster
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-server -Xms12928m -Xmx12928m -XX:PermSize=3072m -Xmn3232m -XX:+SXTElimination -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+ExplicitGCInvokesConcurrent -XX:-TraceClassLoading -XX:-TraceClassUnloading"
We are running multiple instances on the same boxes and the total RAM on the machine is 95 GB on each box which is being shared across 4 cluster environments. For now other 3 cluster environments have the SOA Cluster JVM setting as
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-server -Xms4096m -Xmx4096m -XX:PermSize=1024m -Xmn1152m -XX:+SXTElimination -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+ExplicitGCInvokesConcurrent -XX:-TraceClassLoading -XX:-TraceClassUnloading"
Any help on what else I can tweak or set in JVM to get a better performance.
    Thanks

  • Priority for Automatic Proccesses in Oracle BPM 10.3

    Hi,
I'm completely new to the BPM space, and I was just transferred to a team that's using Oracle BPM 10.3, so my apologies if this is a trivial question.
Does anyone know how to implement priority for automatic activities in Oracle BPM 10.3? Basically, I want high priority instances to be processed before low priority ones.
I tried kicking off several instances in a loop with the "priority" variable set to different values, with an automatic activity that would log the instance and its priority, and the begin state limiting the process to a single concurrent instance at a time. It did not look like these instance were processed in priority order.
    Thanks!

The priority predefined variable is an integer that goes from 1 to 5. The visible corresponding values for these integer values when shown to the end user in the WorkSpace run from "Lowest" (1) to "Highest" (5).
You typically use priority in a view or filter for the Workspace. You'd set the priority column in the WorkSpace to be sorted descending so that the higher the priority, the closer it is to the top of the end user's queue.
Unless your view or filter is set to show all activity types currently in the process, the only work item instances shown in the WorkSpace are Interactive activities . The benefit to setting a priority to work item instances is that the end users are encouraged to work the interactive work item instances from the top of the list down.
Bottom line is that the priority predefined variable helps end users sort / prioritize their work, but does not cause the engine to sort the work it has to do with work item instances running in Automatic activities.
If you have a batch fully automatic process that takes a while to run, I could see a use case where you might want to sort the list of incoming work item instances. If it's a typical process with a mix of automatic and interactive activities, automatic actiivities take a much smaller percentage of time than the interactives do. Work item instances running inside automatic activities normally don't take much time and the need for prioritization doesn't come up. What's your use case where you need to prioritize them?

  • Oracle BPM Composer and no ADF

    Hi Everyone,
We are planning to use Oracle BPM as our BPM engine. But our organization doesn't support ADF. So could anyone help to answer the below questions. Thanks a lot for your time.
    1) Can we use Oracle BPM Composer... Does Oracle BPM composer require extended ADF Domain?
    2) Default BPM workspace can't be used. So we need to build our own workspace. Are they any predefined framework to build a MVC or any other java framework to build workspace.
3)Could anyone let me know the additional things we should take care in case we don't use ADF domain.
    Thanks everyone for your time.

Oracle BPM Studio (JDeveloper) is used by developers to create processes, human tasks, the process instance payloads, the composite services used by the processes, complex transformations, business rules and the ADF UIs.
Composer is a business user oriented web based tool used by business analysts with similar capabilities.  Using Composer, business people can create and maintain processes, define process instance payloads, human tasks, process payloads, business rules.  Instead of creating ADF UIs, you create and test web forms using a web based UI web form designer tool that it comes with in 11.1.1.7. Because the forms built using Composer can only be viewed from the Workspace or WebCenter Spaces tools, and because you're not going to use the Workspace or WebCenter Spaces tools, you won't be able to use Composer to create your UIs.
You might want to rethink your decision to not use the Workspace or WebCenter Spaces tools, but because you're not going to use either one you will instead be building your forms using the form design tool of your choice.
Although I'd advise you against recreating it, you'll need to become comfortable using the different APIs Oracle BPM exposes if you're going to try to duplicate the Workspace and WebCenter Spaces tool functionality.
Here's the API JavaDoc and a few blogs that will give you some tips on getting started:

  • Is Oracle BPM for only modeling process?

    Hi
Is Oracle BPM only for Business process modeling? I know there is a PAPI java library to implement User Interface.
But i geuss it takes a lot of Time. We are planning to use Oracle BPM process and Stuts for front end.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Oracle BPM is similar to a pure-play process modeling tool in that it supports process modeling, documentation and simulation.
Here's where Oracle BPM and process modeling tools differ. Oracle BPM was built and architected from the beginning as a full lifecycle Business Process Management (BPM) tool. This means that it is a complete solution with modeling, logic / business rules, end user interface, runtime and BAM capabilities built into it from the beginning 10 years ago.
Go here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html and click on "Oracle BPM data-sheet" for a marketing take on it's capabilities. If you'd like a 3 hour hands-on tour through it, click on the "Oracle BPM Tutorial for new users" link. If you do the tutorial, be sure to ping this forum if you get confused - we'll be glad to help.
Undoubtedly, there's more than you wanted to know in this thread. At a minimum, take a look at the "End User Interface" paragraph below for my take on your Struts question. The nice thing about the forum is that others are sure to disagree with my recommendation and you'll get the benefit from their experience as well.
    Modeling
Oracle BPM was built with one process modeling diagram. It is simple, BPMN based and quick to learn. It supports the roles and the activities I need to build robust processes. I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SME and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in just a couple hours. As a developer, I use the same modeling diagram, but the tool profile I use is a robust IDE that lets me create the implementation details (objects, logic, integration to services and local testing). If I make a change as a developer, the business analyst can see the change if they look at the same process artifact (typically shared through a source control repository).
    Logic and Integration
Process modeling tools are not BPM tools so they are not intended to support the process logic or integration to your existing IT assets needed to execute a business process.
Oracle BPM can use a service bus as the intermediary layer to expose existing IT assets. Alternatively, Oracle BPM can expose and consume components directly if you do not have a service bus. These IT assets are stored in Oracle BPM's catalog for reuse by developers creating the logic needed inside Oracle BPM automated processes.
As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use templates and drag and drop to create much of my logic. Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level. As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I inherit attributes provided by introspected components. This means that if you have an ERP system object with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.

    End User Interface
Before deciding to create your own Struts based UI, examine the capabilities of the OOTB Oracle BPM Workspace. Others on this forum will disagree with this, but rebuilding the functionality of the Oracle BPM Workspace will take quite a bit of time and will require an in-depth knowledge of PAPI (Oracle BPM's API into the runtime Engine) knowledge.
End user interface screens and complex end user interaction with a variety of screens can be built inside the Oracle BPM toolset's WYSIWYG editor. The forms use the attributes of the objects described in the previous paragraph. There's a common misconception that you cannot have both client side and server side components invoked from the UI. This is simply not the case. You can use both client side and server side components to do cross field validation or provide lists for valid values.
If you'd been are a JSP shop you'd have had the flexibility to instead create your forms using the Oracle BPM tag library instead of the forms editor provided.
Since you're a Struts shop, your presentations will be exposed as "External" using Interactive activity Screenflows.
The forms you build are automatically presented in the OOTB Workspace.
    Runtime
End users interact with the processes at runtime using an OOTB Workspace. End users are given various roles. When they log into the Workspace, the end users only see the work item instances that are in the roles that they have been assigned. There is an Engine that stores the work item instance information as it flows through the processes at runtime. The Engine is like a traffic cop, ensuring that the right work item instance goes to the right person in the right activity at the right time.
    Hope this helps,

  • Oracle BPM with Liferay integration

    Dear Oracle BPM experts,
my organization is considering to introduce Oracle BPM Suite 11g for its internal workflows.
However existing and and new internal application will be implemented over the open source Liferay portal. Liferay is currently running over Apache Tomcat.
Do you know if Oracle BPM can integrate with non-Oracle portal servers, especially Liferay?
My organization is very keen on migrating to an application server like Weblogic but not to migrating to another portal server (e.g. Webcenter) at the moment.
In the case where you even know any customers/projects where a Liferay + Oracle BPM integration has been accomplished, I would be grateful to know them.

    Hi
Its been a while I have not worked on Liferay portal in the last 4 years. Oracle SOA/BPM is not supported and mostly cannot be installed on Tomcat App server. BUT Liferay Portal can be installed on top of Weblogic Server. So you can always have a single application server like Weblogic Server to install your own Liferay and also Oracle SOA Suite.
Coming to integration, there could be many ways, that you had to explore:
    1. Oracle SOA Suite has very rich interface APIs to access the Tasks. By default it has a web application like http://soahost:soaport/bpm/workspace that users login into and see all the Tasks that they are assigned to. In your Liferay Portal, have a IFrame Portlet and use the above URL. you may have to tweak for Single Sign on. But otherwise you can always show workpace app in liferay portlet.
    2. Oracle SOA Suite has very rich APIs to access all the stuff for any Task. Like get list of Tasks, and task details and act on those tasks. Its like building your own custom Workspace application for Tasks. Some customers do this. Do this on your Liferay side. Only thing, is there may be some clash between some generic JRF, WebServices APIs and Versions. Like Liferay may need some specific version and soa may need some specific version. Also you need some Oracle SOA suite JARs to include in classpath on liferay side.
    3. Oracle SOA also exposes all Tasks stuff using WebServices and rich REST APIs. Simply build a proxy client on Liferay side to the WebService exposed for a Task. Create a simple UI in liferay portlet to enter all the inputs for input payload and use proxy to create the task.
What you are tying is possible. Refer online docs for all above details and even sample. Just please be aware there may be some clash on common set of jars that liferay and oracle soa suite may step over each other, if you integrate them into single application server. If they exist in their own app severs like liferay+tomcat and oracle soa + weblogic, then you are fine.
    Thanks

  • Oracle BPM - Expense Management Example problem

    Hi,
I have just started to explore Oracle BPM Version 10.3.2 and I am trying to execute the Expense Management Project as given in the starters documentation.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/tutorial/index.html
After deploying the process and going into the workspace using
    http://localhost:8585/workspace
I am not getting anything listed in the Applications tab. It is showing the following error:-
Could not retrievePrincipal applications for process '/ExpenseReporting'.
I searched in this same forum and came across this post:-
Re: Why there is no application in workspace?
which says that it may be due to version conflicts or some error coming up in the problems tab.
I checked my problems tab but it is not showing anything.
Eliminating this I thought it may be due to version conflicts (as i am following the post) so I uninstalled all my JDK's and just installed jdk 1.6 update 21 but still I got the same problem - i think this solved the issue for some users (Satya Anareddy)
Then in one comment in the same post given by Dan (Daniel Atwood ) i tried using the default 1.5 JM.
But still I am getting the same error.
I am completely confused as to what the problem could be.
Please could anyone give me some directions.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

Please follow this step may this solve your problem.
please modify any thing in process "ExpenseReporting" for example any transition or any activity to place some where else or any other modification and then save that process. Then clean the project and build and deploy it.
if this also not solve the problem then export that project to and import it again in your workspace (Create new workspace or change the project name in same workspace ) and then again clean, build and deploy the application then test in work space.

  • Oracle BPM 11g -  Custom view  - Design Phase

    Hi,
Does anyone know if you can create a custom view during the design phase (the way you do it in ALBPM 6.0 and oracle bpm 10g) so that users meeting the filter criiteria can then see the view in the BPM workspace. I don't want all users to create a custom view in the workspace, that will be a waste of time and moreover, it would be unfair on them to ask and create a custom view.
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
If you log in as an administrator in the Workspace, when you create a view you can click the "Add to Standard Views" checkbox. If you do this, everyone will be able to use the view you create as one of the standard views in their list as well.
OOTB the "weblogic" user has been assigned to the "Administrators" group in the weblogic administration console. As a result, if you log in as the user "weblogic", you'll be able to create these standard views.
