Oracle BPM - Expense Management Example problem

Hi,
I have just started to explore Oracle BPM Version 10.3.2 and I am trying to execute the Expense Management Project as given in the starters documentation.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/tutorial/index.html
After deploying the process and going into the workspace using
http://localhost:8585/workspace
I am not getting anything listed in the Applications tab. It is showing the following error:-
Could not retrievePrincipal applications for process '/ExpenseReporting'.
I searched in this same forum and came across this post:-
Re: Why there is no application in workspace?
which says that it may be due to version conflicts or some error coming up in the problems tab.
I checked my problems tab but it is not showing anything.
Eliminating this I thought it may be due to version conflicts (as i am following the post) so I uninstalled all my JDK's and just installed jdk 1.6 update 21 but still I got the same problem - i think this solved the issue for some users (Satya Anareddy)
Then in one comment in the same post given by Dan (Daniel Atwood ) i tried using the default 1.5 JM.
But still I am getting the same error.
I am completely confused as to what the problem could be.
Please could anyone give me some directions.
Thanks,
Rohit

Please follow this step may this solve your problem.
please modify any thing in process "ExpenseReporting" for example any transition or any activity to place some where else or any other modification and then save that process. Then clean the project and build and deploy it.
if this also not solve the problem then export that project to and import it again in your workspace (Create new workspace or change the project name in same workspace ) and then again clean, build and deploy the application then test in work space.

• Extending Expense Management Example in BPM Suite

Hi All,
I am a newbie for BPM Suite. I went through the expense management example.. Next, I would like to extend the example and integrate it with external resources like database and http server (apache tomcat will do).
For eg, Can I store the list of participants in the database and retrieve them when I launch my workspace.
I read about BPM Process API (PAPI), PBL, Fuego but I am not able to relate these. Can anyone please explain me how are they used in integration with BPM Suite ??? Next, How is BPEL Manager Used with BPM Suite ???
I tried searching internet for tutorials/articals but was not able to find anything relevant.
Kindly help...
Many Thanks,
Sophie

Here are the steps:
1. create an external source for your DB: right-click on External Resources -> New External Resource -> Type: SQL Database -> enter all necessary information on your DB (page 145 Oracle BPM StudioGuide)
2. create a module: right-click on Catalog -> New -> Module -> enter name (page 167 Oracle BPM StudioGuide)
3. catalog the external resource: right-click on the newly created Module -> Catalog Component -> SQL -> choose your ex. res.
4. create a BPMObject according to your data structure you want to store.
5. create a presentation based on this BPMObject
6. use a BPM Object Interactive Call in your screenflow to display the form (presentation).
7. implement an automatic activity (impl. type: method) and enter this SQL statement into the method (var1SF id my instance variable in the screenflow):
INSERT INTO buch (id, titel, author, preis)
VALUES (var1SF.id, var1SF.titel, var1SF.author, var1SF.preis)
Have also a look at the thread:
h4. BPM and database interaction
and consider Dan Atwood's answer (i couldn't implement it yet...) on reading data from the DB

• Oracle Web Services Manager, Coresv problems

Coresv, Web Services Manager May 21, 2005 9:04 PM
Reply
I have downloaded Web Services Manager (part of the Application Server Downloads), also called as coresv.
I have done the installation as per the scripts but need some help with some issues that I am getting.
Basically when I goto the http://localhost:3115/ccore page, the login works fine but after that all I see is
two empty frames:
1. Error
The following exception occured when processing the JSP:
Provider org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl not found
Use your browsers "Back" button if you would like to try again.
Contact Oracle Web Services Manager Administrator
2. Error
The following exception occured when processing the JSP:
getActiveComponents failed
Use your browsers "Back" button if you would like to try again.
Contact Oracle Web Services Manager Administrator
Can you guide me where should I post this message?
Thanks
Best Regards
Hitesh

Follow-up on this topic
1. Still not able to run the default Tomcat Instance.
2. However, was able to get to the console of Web Services Manager when deployed to a Weblogic 8.1 SP3 instance.
But after configuring a gateway, registering a service and comitting the policies etc. as described by the book, when I try to access the service using the URL
http://localhost:7001/gateway/services/SID0003006?wsdl
http://localhost:7001/gateway is where the gateway.war is deployed.
I get
Oracle Web Services Manager Gateway : Cannot find WSDL for service "SID0003006"
I can't execute the service either..
Thanks

• Architecture of Oracle BPM

Hi All,
I'm writing MA Thesis on BPM systems. I'm comparing some implementations that support BPMN2.0.
1. What I need is the Oracle BPM archtecture overview.
1.1 What elements are a part of this product
1.2 What elements build the infrastructure nessesary to use Oracle BPM
2. What are ways to use Oracle BPM in my sample j2ee application. I wont to have my own interface and update state of processes and make some of the application parts get notified when process state reaches some point, etc. Is all written in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_workflow.htm#BACHEFDH ???
I suppose all that info is on documentation pages of Oracle SOA Suite and Oracle BPM Suite. The problem is I would need to dig through ALL that documencation to choose only parts that I need. I do not wont to become Oracle products expert, that comes in future not now:)
So I kindly ask You to help me finding the range of documencation and it's chapters that would give me a good Overview of Architecture and possible integrations of Oracle BPM 11g, I need BPMN2.0 working:)
Thx to All that reply.

Hello -

• Screenflow argument problems - Expense Management Tutorial

Hi All,
I'm new with ALBPM, and I get started with Expense Management tutorial, all its ok until:
After I Implemented the Activity 4 (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/tutorial/index.html) of this tutorial, I've gotten a "Problem"
All arguments must be fulfilled when defining the incoming argument mapping of a screenflow invocation task (Activity:Edit Report, task: Edit Report)
This message it seems self explained, but I review and I can't see where missing some data.
Someone can help me?

Without knowing the tutorial very well, it sounds like you either have 'extra' incoming arguments, or that you are not mapping them at all.
If you right click the 'sub screenflow' activity in your main process, go down to 'Main Task'
From here, select 'Argument Mapping', and then click the 'plus' sign on the right. It will create a drop down on the left that lists all the 'incoming arguments' If you have any there that aren't accounted for, you will need to select one from the right side to populate into it.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for your responses.
Greetings.

Hi,
you said:
it wasn't possible to set ORACLE_HOME variable because it had a value older than 1023 characteres
What do you mean with older than 1023 chars?
I think the easiest way is to uninstall the BPEL Console and run the installer again with correcting the ORACLE_HOME problem...

• Problems to invoke a secure Web service from Oracle BPM Studio 10.3

Hi all
I'm trying to consume a web service through HTTPS protoloco Oracle BPM Studio v10.3, but I get the following error: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.
Some help!!
Thanks

Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

I guess the weblogic.jar is not included in the studio.
So, i added weblogic.jar (Weblogic 10.3) and wlclient.jar (Weblogic 10.3)
It is working in my simple java code. But, still not working in BPM Studio.

• Correlation Problem with Oracle BPM 2.1.2

I have developed a BPEL process that invokes Axis web services and then wait an asynchronous message from the services, using pick with onMessage tag. Previously, I do my work with Oracle BPM 2.0.10 and designer 0.9.5, it works well. But now, I have used Oracle BPEM 2.1.2 and designer 0.9.10, my Axis web services can not send any asynchronous message to the process. What's the problem? Must I set some configuration with BPM 2.1.2 or change my original BPEL code?
This is a fragement of my BPEL code.
<invoke name="invokeSubscriptionProxy" partnerLink="subcriptionProxy" operation="subscribeToProxy" inputVariable="input4SubscriptionProxy" outputVariable="output4SubscriptioProxy" portType="nsxml1:NotificationProxyPortType">
<correlations>
<correlation set="correlationInteger" initiate="no" pattern="out"/>
</correlations>
</invoke>
<pick name="pick4Subscribe2">
<onMessage partnerLink="client" portType="tns:TestOrchestratingGeneratedGramProxy" operation="deliverNotificationFromProxy" variable="deliveredNotificationMessage">
<correlations>
<correlation set="correlationInteger" initiate="no"/>
</correlations>
<sequence>
<empty name="empty-2"/>
</sequence>
</onMessage>
<onAlarm for="'PT1H'">
<sequence>
<empty name="empty-2"/>
</sequence>
</onAlarm>
</pick>
When I edit this code with designer 0.9.10, it shows no error. I test my process by viewing BPEL console.
Please help me to correct this problem.
PS. I sure that my Axis Web servies work well.

Hi,
"my Axis web services can not send any asynchronous message to the process" --> means when you try to invoke an Axis Web services from a BPEL process, there are no callback message from the web services, right? Did you see any exception from either the console or BPEL server DOS window?

Dan,
I tried in both studio and Standalone.
From Studio :*
1. The Url for the Webservice is (http://localhost:8585/papiws/PapiWebServiceEndpoint?wsdl). From studio by default port number was 8585.From this studio wsdl URL(http://localhost:8585/papiws/PapiWebServiceEndpoint?wsdl),I did n't see any wsdl text in the browser.
From Standalone :*
1. In BPM Admin Center, I have selected *"PAPI Web Services"* check box(Page 5 of your document).
2. In The BPM Admin Center, I have clicked on *"Start BPM Web Applications"*.
3. After Stand alone server started *"Launch PAPI WebServices Console"* link was enabled,And I clicked on that link.It opened a browser with URL (http://localhost:8686/papiws/PapiWebService)

• Oracle BPM 11g Examples

Where I can download Oracle BPM 11g Examples. Demo applications to study BPM in more details.

Oracle needs to get it together in regards to BPMN 11g demos. There should be a collection of BPMN demos that can be used to show off the various components to people like worklist, workspace, and fusion middleware control. More than likely we have to wait until OpenWorld when there is likely to be a flood of new material released.

• Diff Between Oracle BPM Studio and Oracle BPEL Process Manager

1)What is the difference between Oracle BPM Studio and Oracle BPEL Process Manager?
2)What is the connection between Oracle BPM Studio and Oracle BPEL Process Manager?

Hi,
As of today you should install SOA Suite 11g
Fr this you will need to install Database (for development you can use XE)
Run RCU utility to crete DB schemas for SOA Suite.
Install Weblogic server
Install SOA Suite as an option to Weblogic
Create SOA Domain.
It is physically possible to do it in 2GB but is far better on 3 - 4GB
You can consider installing DB on different machine.

Hi,
To add on with vaibav.....
Even i had the same issue...
Please check whether the expense type is coming from our customization or it is coming from a "z" table. If it is coming from that table, you have to add your expense type there also. You can ask your abap guy from where the portal is picking the expense type.
Hope this helps you...
Cheers,
