Oracle BPM presentations in OpenWorld 2009

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can download the presentations about "Oracle BPM" in "Oracle OpenWorld 2009" this year ? I did not have a chance to attend it but I feel that it is very interesting to know all of the new features and the direction of our Oracle BPM
Many Thanks in advance
Pearapon S.

Hi,
If you were a Full Conference attendee, access here - http://www.eventreg.com/sb221/loginOD.jsp?exitURL=null
If you were a registered attendee but didn’t have a Full Conference pass, you can purchase access as an add on - http://www.oracle.com/us/openworld/registration.htm#addons
There were several sessions labeled "BPM", but the two that you might want to look at were:
"BPM Roundtable: Lessons Learned and Best Practices for Maximizing Success"
"Best Practices for Oracle Business Process Management Deployments"

  • Oracle BPM 10.3: Pass Object from Presentation to JSP

    Hi,

then i call a method. This method have an object. How i can pass this object to a JSP Page so that

    Hi user9293762,
To pass the BPM object to the JSP page, please follow the below steps:
    1) Place an interactive activity after the method execution.
    2) Right click on the Interactive activity and select Main Task
    3) In the Main Task wizard select Implementation Type as BPM Object Interactive Call
    4) Select the BPM Object Variable, here you can pass your BPM object to the jsp page but make sure that the object you want to pass is an instance variable of type your BPM object
    5) Click on the Use JSP Presentation and choose for your jsp page you want to attach with the interactive activity.
    6) Finally click on OK
Now you can access the BPM object in your jsp page.

  • Invoking ALBPM (Oracle BPM) using Webservice calls

    Hi,
I am trying to invoke Oracle BPM processes using webservice dynamically using events. I am presently not able to find any samples in this regard. Could somebody help me figure out a way to invoke Oracle BPM process dynamically using events ?
I would like to avoid the use of polling as an option.
    TIA,
    Sarat

I too have this question. It seems like you can no longer use BPEL with BPM 6.5/10GR3. Is this in fact the case? To use BPEL do you have to revert back to version 6.0?

  • OutOfMemoryError when running Oracle BPM Enterprise's Configuration Wizard

    Hi,
I was trying to configure Oracle BPM Enterprise via Oracle BPM Admin Center. I left most of the settings to their respective default values; only adding in passwords for the Directory, Engine, etc. However an error was encountered when it is trying to deploy the '01-eng-bpmengine' EAR file. A 'OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space' was logged after running the configuration for a while. Below is the full error log:
    AdmCenterConsole.log

    new classpath: C:\OraBPMwlHome\bin\lax.jar;FuegoLauncher.main() - 2
    arg[0] = C:\OraBPMwlHome\bin\obpmadmcenter.properties

Is there any way that I can increase the heap size of the Configuration Wizard? If not, is there any solution to this problem?

    Hi,
It seems to be a Weblogic OOM (OutOfMemory).
Why don't you try increasing the weblogic memory (you have to modify your domain scripts)
I guess that after increasing your WLS domain memory settings you will be able to configure it using the config wizard.
    Hope this helps,
    Ariel

  • Oracle BPM 11.1.1.5 Performance issues

    Hi,
I have 2 Node Cluster of Oracle SOA 11.1.1.5 installed. Have a separate cluster for SOA/BPM, BAM, OSB, WSM. Here are the OS and Java versions
    Java Vendor: HP
    Java Version: 1.6.0.14
    OS: HP-UX
    OS Version: B.11.31
Running into an issue where Oracle BPM is performing very slow the task forms takes forever to come up and performing any actions takes too long to proceed som time it keeps timing out. I have over 100 SOA Process running plus some BPM Process but BMP Workspace application is running too slow as have customized tasks forms. But the same works a bit better in other instance which is non-clustered. Any idea what can be done on the server level to get around the performance issues. So far have modified Audit Levels and reduced soa-infra bpm log have the following settings in setDomainEnv.sh for USER_MEM_ARGS=-Xms2000m -Xmx6000m -XX:PermSize=1000m
But not help. Any idea what else to look into to get around these bpm performance issues. Here is what I have in setSOADomainEnv.sh

After changing JVM settigns for soa cluster it's a bit better but still slow so wondering what other tweaks can be done on the JVM side. Here is what is for the SOA Cluster
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-server -Xms12928m -Xmx12928m -XX:PermSize=3072m -Xmn3232m -XX:+SXTElimination -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+ExplicitGCInvokesConcurrent -XX:-TraceClassLoading -XX:-TraceClassUnloading"
We are running multiple instances on the same boxes and the total RAM on the machine is 95 GB on each box which is being shared across 4 cluster environments. For now other 3 cluster environments have the SOA Cluster JVM setting as
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-server -Xms4096m -Xmx4096m -XX:PermSize=1024m -Xmn1152m -XX:+SXTElimination -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+ExplicitGCInvokesConcurrent -XX:-TraceClassLoading -XX:-TraceClassUnloading"
Any help on what else I can tweak or set in JVM to get a better performance.
    Thanks

I guess the weblogic.jar is not included in the studio.
    So, i added weblogic.jar (Weblogic 10.3) and wlclient.jar (Weblogic 10.3)
It is working in my simple java code. But, still not working in BPM Studio.

  • Is Oracle BPM for only modeling process?

    Hi
Is Oracle BPM only for Business process modeling? I know there is a PAPI java library to implement User Interface.
But i geuss it takes a lot of Time. We are planning to use Oracle BPM process and Stuts for front end.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Oracle BPM is similar to a pure-play process modeling tool in that it supports process modeling, documentation and simulation.
Here's where Oracle BPM and process modeling tools differ. Oracle BPM was built and architected from the beginning as a full lifecycle Business Process Management (BPM) tool. This means that it is a complete solution with modeling, logic / business rules, end user interface, runtime and BAM capabilities built into it from the beginning 10 years ago.
Go here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html and click on "Oracle BPM data-sheet" for a marketing take on it's capabilities. If you'd like a 3 hour hands-on tour through it, click on the "Oracle BPM Tutorial for new users" link. If you do the tutorial, be sure to ping this forum if you get confused - we'll be glad to help.
Undoubtedly, there's more than you wanted to know in this thread. At a minimum, take a look at the "End User Interface" paragraph below for my take on your Struts question. The nice thing about the forum is that others are sure to disagree with my recommendation and you'll get the benefit from their experience as well.
    Modeling
Oracle BPM was built with one process modeling diagram. It is simple, BPMN based and quick to learn. It supports the roles and the activities I need to build robust processes. I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SME and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in just a couple hours. As a developer, I use the same modeling diagram, but the tool profile I use is a robust IDE that lets me create the implementation details (objects, logic, integration to services and local testing). If I make a change as a developer, the business analyst can see the change if they look at the same process artifact (typically shared through a source control repository).
    Logic and Integration
Process modeling tools are not BPM tools so they are not intended to support the process logic or integration to your existing IT assets needed to execute a business process.
Oracle BPM can use a service bus as the intermediary layer to expose existing IT assets. Alternatively, Oracle BPM can expose and consume components directly if you do not have a service bus. These IT assets are stored in Oracle BPM's catalog for reuse by developers creating the logic needed inside Oracle BPM automated processes.
As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use templates and drag and drop to create much of my logic. Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level. As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I inherit attributes provided by introspected components. This means that if you have an ERP system object with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.

Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level.
As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I can easily inherit attributes provided by the components exposed to Oracle BPM's catalog. This means that if you have an ERP system with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.
    End User Interface
Before deciding to create your own Struts based UI, examine the capabilities of the OOTB Oracle BPM Workspace. Others on this forum will disagree with this, but rebuilding the functionality of the Oracle BPM Workspace will take quite a bit of time and will require an in-depth knowledge of PAPI (Oracle BPM's API into the runtime Engine) knowledge.
End user interface screens and complex end user interaction with a variety of screens can be built inside the Oracle BPM toolset's WYSIWYG editor. The forms use the attributes of the objects described in the previous paragraph. There's a common misconception that you cannot have both client side and server side components invoked from the UI. This is simply not the case. You can use both client side and server side components to do cross field validation or provide lists for valid values.
If you'd been are a JSP shop you'd have had the flexibility to instead create your forms using the Oracle BPM tag library instead of the forms editor provided.
Since you're a Struts shop, your presentations will be exposed as "External" using Interactive activity Screenflows.
The forms you build are automatically presented in the OOTB Workspace.
    Runtime
End users interact with the processes at runtime using an OOTB Workspace. End users are given various roles. When they log into the Workspace, the end users only see the work item instances that are in the roles that they have been assigned. There is an Engine that stores the work item instance information as it flows through the processes at runtime. The Engine is like a traffic cop, ensuring that the right work item instance goes to the right person in the right activity at the right time.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Oracle BPM 10gR3 Dashboards - Error in loading data

We have an issue with oracle bpm 10g dashboards. Chart component in the presentation displays "Error in loading data". There is no exception, the attached method returns valid x,y co-ordinates.If we enable 'user refresh" property of the chart component and click on refresh in the presention, it displays the chart. Any change in the presentation(change a drop down a value, etc) sets it again as "Error in loading data" and click on refresh brings back the chart.
Adding this.refreshGraphicImage(graphicId : "chart") in the code to refresh the chart also din't help.
please let me know if anybody has faced similar issue.
    Thanks,
    Gopi

You have to set "fuego.workspace.execution.ajax.enabled" property to FALSE in the workspace.properties, that is located in ...\webapps\workspace\WEB-INF
    Hope it helps!

  • Oracle BPM 11g Examples

Where I can download Oracle BPM 11g Examples. Demo applications to study BPM in more details.

Oracle needs to get it together in regards to BPMN 11g demos. There should be a collection of BPMN demos that can be used to show off the various components to people like worklist, workspace, and fusion middleware control. More than likely we have to wait until OpenWorld when there is likely to be a flood of new material released.

  • Multiple Row selection in JSP using checkbox - Oracle BPM 10gR3

    Dear BPM Experts,
Has anyone invoked JSP from Oracle BPM 10gR3 screen flow that has the following UI requirement.
    1. When UI is loaded user is presented with multiple rows of pre-populated data(each column of the row represents attributes of a BPM object) with checkbox against each of the rows for user to select one, many and all rows.
    2. User has option to select one, many and all rows and submit the form.
    3. Upon submission, the all data related to selected rows only should made available to a BPM process(either using Global Creation or Global Interactive activity)
I was able to have the JSP created with FTL tags but unable to transmit the data back to BPM process. Same has been accomplished using BPM Presentation. Can any one please help me with the JSP implementation? It is little urgent, so your early intervention is much solicited and coveted.
I will send you guys the code I have in case you need to review.
    Regards,
    Subho

    Hi friends
I need to do the same feature, select elements, but in a tree object. I've followed the same approach - using a selectBooleanCheckBox in each node of the Tree. But, when I submit the page, the boolean property of my TreeNode object isnt changed.
    An Idea?
    thanks a lot!

  • Can we delete the views created for a user in Oracle BPM J2EE WL

I am using Oracle BPM 10.3 MP2 Enterprise Edition
    Version: 10.3.2
    Build: #100486
Can we delete the views created for a user in workspace?
Usually we are using the filter option within workspace and then saving it as view.
Would like to know if we can delete such views and create again.
    These views are user specifc
    Thanks in Advance.
    -Sree

I usually use this scripts to clean the workspace user custom seetings:
    delete from fuego_objclassinst where fuego_objclassname = 'bea.albpm.workspace.layout';
    delete from fuego_strprops where (fuego_category = 'fuego-view' OR fuego_category= 'fuego-presentations');
    delete from fuego_strprops where (fuego_category = 'WAM' );
    Hope this help.

  • What is the difference btw Oracle bpm 10gr3 vs albpm 6.0.5 version

What is the difference btw Oracle bpm 10gr3 vs albpm 6.0.5 version
Are the build number common to them?

Projects built in ALBPM 6.0 can be used directly in Oracle BPM 10g, but the reverse is not true.
It's sometimes thought that Oracle BPM 10g was just a relabeling of the predecessor BEA product ALBPM. This is not the case.
In Studio, standards are better supported:
<li> By default, new processes now use horizontal swim-lanes. You can change the swim-lanes orientation individually for each process. You can define the default orientation for each project and for your Studio installation.
<li> It uses more sophisticated BPMN icons. BPMN is the new default process diagram theme. BPMN constructs now include Gateways (AND, OR (new in 10g), XOR, Multiple Instance (previously Split-N)). A new Timer event was added. Loop conditions for automatic activities and groups were added.
    <li> Studio now supports Mac/OS 10.4 Tiger and Mac/OS 10.5 Leopard.
<li> Studio now supports Windows Vista.
<li> Studio now supports CVS and Subversion version control systems.
<li> The Studio UI incorporates Eclipse 3.3 improvements such as the following:
<li> New Minimize/Maximize behavior: When minizing view stacks in Studio, the view icons are placed on the nearest trim area. If a view is maximized, all other views are minimized, rather than hidden.
<li> Interactive tasks provide a new "previewable" property. The new Application Display Panel and Task Execution Panel of WorkSpace automatically start the execution of previewable tasks without locking the process instance. Enabled by default for Dashboards.
<li> New type of Activity: Time Activity. A process instance that arrives to this activity just sits idle until a timed event occurs.
<li> Option Process Notification Immediately on Termination Wait activities has been deprecated. Now both the Wait activity and the first activity in the interruption flow always execute in the same transaction.
<li> Although I'm not wild about it, there is an auto-layout feature re-arranges all visual elements of a process diagram automatically, minimizing superpositions and aligning the flow as much as possible. Only available for processes with horizontal lane orientation.
<li> New process property (Greedy Execution Mode) indicates the Process Execution Engine to collapse contiguous automatic tasks in a single transaction. This mode of execution provides better performance for some processes. Disabled by default.
<li> A new Process-Level debugger allows developers to introduce breakpoints and debug complete processes running in Studio. When the execution reaches a breakpoint, the Engine pauses and Studio's debugging view appears. You can inspect variables, add new breakpoints, resume and continue execution.
    User Interface
<li> The Business Analyst and Business Architect profiles provide a simpler set of menu options and toolbars.
<li> New editor for BPM Object Presentations. It's easier to use, provides a WYSIWYG drag and drop interface, improved CSS support and a new Drag & Drop toolbar.
<li> You can now interrupt a running Simulation started with the Run to the End button.
<li> New BETWEEN operator added to Business Rules editor (on both Studio and WorkSpace). This operator works with Time and numeric types.
<li> The Documentation View now displays read-only documentation for the standard Fuego.* components.
<li> New on-line help book Oracle BPM Components Reference provides reference documentation for the standard Fuego.* components. Only available for the developer profile.
<li> This version introduces Project Dependency, which allows you to re-use components and role definitions from a common base project.
    In the WorkSpace:
<li> WorkSpace has an edit mode which allows users to change and save the configuration and layout of panels.
<li> A new tabbed interface allows you to define multiple pages, each with its own set of panels. You can export the layout configuration to an XML file and re-import it on a different environment or as a different user. Administrators can define layouts for all users in a certain Role.
<li> You can export the data in the Worklist panel to a PDF or CSV
<li> You can see an OOTB chart representation of the distribution of items in the Worklist panel.
<li> WorkSpace includes the following new panels: Task Panel: Renders the execution of interactive tasks within the panel, instead of using the default modal dialogs. Dashboard Display Panel: Provides a way to display Dashboards within a Panel. View Chart Panel: Provides predefined graphical reports about process performance, work items distributions and workload. Application Panel: This panel contains an application (the execution of a Global Interactive). Applications can respond to work item selections or run independently.
<li> The user can now do re-assignment operations on multiple instances at once.
<li> The Business Rules editor shows additional auditing information, including who and when a rule was modified.
<li> WorkSpace now (optionally) stores session-specific information as client-side cookies. This allows load-balancing on a cluster environment without affecting the user experience.
    Integration:
<li> New timeout property added to external resources of type HTTP Server. Use this setting to control timeouts on web service invocations.
<li> Authentication information added to external resources of type JMS (Java Messaging System)
<li> Processes exposed as Web Services can now provide a runProcess operation, which synchronously executes the complete process (from begin to end). Only meaningful on fully automated processes.
    Enterprise:
<li> New Ant tasks to rebuild the Oracle BPM web applications for container-security.
<li> Configuration Wizard adds option Generic JNDI to the list of available LDAP servers. When using this option, you must provide a custom configuration file defining the mapping of object classes, attributes and filters. This new feature is also the new mechanism for integrating with AquaLogic Interaction 6.5, replacing the old Identity Service.
<li> Configuration Wizard can now be run without user interaction ("silent mode"). You specify all configuration values in an XML file.
<li> Oracle BPM client applications (including WorkSpace, PAPI-WS and custom PAPI apps) are now able to connect to multiple environments (BPM Directories) simultaneously.
<li> Added Sybase as a new provider for the Engine database and BPM Directory database.
<li> More information added for auditing of Business Rules, including who and when a rule was modified.
<li> Updated bundled JDBC drivers to their latest version.
<li> The Engine now logs warning messages when it detects rogue threads. A new preference allows the administrator to disable automatic re-starts when the Maximum Number of Rogue Component Executions is reached. In addition, in the case of an automatic re-start the Engine now logs a complete thread dump.
<li> Simplified procedures for deploying BPM WorkSpace on WebLogic Portal. BPM Process Administrator now generates the WorkSpace EAR file as a WLP library module.
<li> Authentication information added to external resources of type JMS (Java Messaging System).

Good question. I'll try to recap a little history of Fuego, AquaLogic and Oracle BPM for you. I worked for Fuego just before it was acquired and rebranded as part of the BEA AquaLogic Suite. I'd like to see what other have to say on this topic as well.
From what I recall, BEA bought Fuego and released version 6.0. This was the first version branded as AquaLogic. The major change it contained was the integration of studio into the Eclipse IDE. It was somewhat integrated with ALUI, which used to be Plumtree before it was bought out by BEA and re-branded AquaLogic. I say somewhat since it wasn't integrated as well as it could. One major issue was the way the directory was integrated. They used a synchronization utility called ITPS (I think) to sync the ALUI directory with BPMs directory. This was very problematic.
Version 6.3 came out that improved the way the workspace integrated with portals and ALUI and integrated the directory more efficiently with ALUI. Mostly it contained many improvements in the workspace functionality. The workspace had configurable panels which made it easier to integrate with dashboard components and widgets.
Version 6.5 was coming out around the same time that Oracle took control of BEA. Version 6.5 is very much the same as OBPM 10g. For more information about OBPM 10g refer to this article:
    http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/bea/weblogic/E13154_01/relnotes/release_notes_OracleBPM10gR3.htm
In a couple of months Oracle will be releasing BPM 11g. There will be many changes to BPM in this release. It will be integrated with JDeveloper and will inherit much of the SOA strategies known for Oracle's Fushion Middleware suite. It also contains a Process Composer web based UI that Business Analysts and Business stakeholders will find useful.
I blogged about BPM 11g here:
    http://blog.ssglimited.com/2009/10/13/oracle-bpm-11g-preview-at-oracle-open-world-2009/
