  • Oracle 10g install on Windows server 2008 R2 ( 6.1 )

    Hi All,
I am trying to install Oracle 10g over windows server 2008 R2 (6.1) but it gives error that OS is not supported. I tried to install below version.
    Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4.0)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows Vista x64, Windows Server 2008 x64,
    Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, Windows 7 x64
But it fails with error that OS version 6.1 is not supported. On download page it is written to get 10.2.0.5 patch from My Oracle support for windows server 2008 R2, I got patch p8202632_10205_MSWIN-x86-64 but it requires a pre-installed oracle home.
So how should I install Oracle 10g as 10.2.0.4 does not get installed and the patch asks for a previous install?
The reason I am installing Oracle 10g is that our Java application is running in production over JDK 1.4 and Oracle 11g does not provide JDBC driver for JDK 1.4, is there any JDBC driver for Oracle 11g that can work with JDK 1.4?
    Thanks in advance for help.
    Best Regards!
    Irfan

  • Best practice for install oracle 11g r2 on Windows Server 2008 r2

    Dear all,
May I know what is the best practice for install oracle 11g r2 on windows server 2008 r2. Should I create a special account for windows for the oracle database installation? What permission should I grant to the folders where Oracle installed and the database related files located (datafiles, controlfiles, etc.)
Just grant Full for Administrators and System and remove permissions for all others accounts?
Also how should I configure windows firewall to allow client connect to the database.
    Thanks for your help.

11.2 is beta at the moment. There is no official release date so far.
As DG4ODBC is independant from the Oracle database (or the target database) you can use a 3 machine model:
On the first machine you have your Oracle database, on a second machine running 32bit Windows you can install DG4ODBC and on the 3rd machine you can run your foreign database.
If the SQL Server 2k is installed on a 32bit Windows machine, then you can also install DG4ODBC on this machine.
In general the connection from an Oracle database to the DG4ODBC machine is done using SDQL*Net. The listener responsible for DG4ODBC will then load the DG4ODBC executable which will connect to the SQL Server using SQL Server ODBC driver.

  • Oracle 11g Client for Windows Server 2008 Relase2 Operating Stystem

    Hi,
I am having a server with Operating System as Windows Server 2008 R2 version 64 - bit.
I am using SSRS 2008 which is 64 bit, for retreiving the data from Oracle (which is 11g - 32 bit), I am unable to create data source for Oracle.
I had installed ODAC Components of Oracle 11.1.0.7.20 on the server, but still I am getting the following error:
"The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle.1' provider is not registered on the local machine."
Does any one know how to install Oracle Client 11g on Windows Server 2008 R2 Operating system?

    Helios,
It is wonderful that you are polite and encouraging to new people.
While you are responding, could you explicitly direct people to use the correct forum. This has at least 2 benefits:
    1) Ensures that the person gets the widest possible amount of assistance;
    2) Ensures that the rest of us do not need to waste time on improperly placed questions.
I suggest 'explicitly' since some people do not get the hint, and keep returning to the original thread.
This thread belongs in 'Database - General' or 'Database - Install'.

    Thanks for the response Hans,
When you said, People have been able to make it work, is there something that needs to be done to make it compatible or can I just ignore following from the compatiblity check in the installatation prerequisites?I do not condone using unsupported, and potentially unsupportable, environments. The risk to the user community in production is too great, especially in that 'it may appear to work, but may just as easily run into an obscure incompatibility'.
Perhaps someone else will help you shoot yourself in the foot. Or use your favorite internet search ...

Assuming your rig can support virtual machines, you can use Hyper-V and run another OS there.
Better practice however is to use a dedicated machine and use remote desktop to the server.

  • How to monitor MySQL Server installed in Windows Server using Nagios

You can do this via NSClient as Gary posted. The NSClient is a communications system that allows nagios to send commands to a target system over the nsclient protocol and they are executed on the remote system. You will still have to build some kind of vbscript or plugin to run on the target system to do the actual query to check on mysql. There are other options to. If you enable snmp on your target computer you can use a few nagios plugins to query the snmp agent on the target computer to see if a service is running. To do this via snmp you will need this plugin "check_snmp_process.pl" fromthis site.Your check command will look something like this:check_win_process:= check_snmp_process.pl -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -C "$USER6$" -n "$ARG1$" -w $ARG2$ -c $ARG3$The service definition will be like this:check_win_process!sqlservr!0!0This will check...

I installed Nagios Core in my Ubuntu workstation 10.04 for me to learn something new in my craft. I use this now to monitor our Windows Server 2008 with MySQL server installed as well as our Datalink Switch (DGS-1210-24). I searched on google on how to monitor a MYSQL server installed in Windows server using Nagios Core but i could not seem to find any. Could anybody who's expert in Nagios give me steps on how to do so. Thanks. All i found in google were steps in monitoring mysql installed in linux and nothing in windows server.

At UC platform i can see some applications are installed on Windows server and some directly to VMWare. Pls explain?

Pretty much all newer versions of UC applications have started supporting virtualization so they can be installed on the VMware.
Have a look at dockwiki for virtualization supported apps:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_Virtualization_Supported_Applications
Some applications like CUCM version 4 were windows based previously but going ahead with version 5, 6 onwards the OS has been changed to Linux Operating system.
Let me know if you need any more information.

  • Whether SAP Netweaver 7.02 could be installed on Windows Server 2008?

    Hi ,
I want to know Whether SAP Netweaver 7.02 not SP6 could be installed on Windows Server 2008? The help install document only mentioned Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, not mentioned Windows Server 2008, but I want to install it to Windows Server 2008 w64, I don't know whether could be installed successfully.
        Thanks for help!

    Hi Munish,
But I don't know where to download SAP JVM 4.
My SAP NetWeaver 7.02 is only a trail version, so I couldn't download SAP JVM 4 from SAP Market, could you give me one?
       My G-mail is: [email protected]
       Thanks!
If there is no SAP JVM 4, I only could install SAP NetWeaver 7.02 with j2sdk-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p or j2re-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p or j2sdk-1_4_2_09_windows_i586 and j2eesdk-1_4_02_2005Q1, I don't know which version I should choose to install.

  • VC Redist 2013 cannot be installed on Windows Server 2008 Core

Both vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe have this problem. And it can be reproduced 100%.
But all of them can be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 Core, Windows Server 2012 Core, and Windows Server 2012 R2 Core.
From the log, it seems the installer depends some UI DLLs that are not included in this OS.

    Xiaojin

    Hi Xiaojin,
    Thanks for posting in MSDN.
I don't think this is a bug. From your description, you want to install VC redist on some servers core for Windows Server 2008, 2012. Based on my knowledge, server core has no graphical user interface (GUI), there is no desktop. Only code written using Windows
application programming interfaces (APIs) can run on Server Core.
More information about server core please refer to here:
    What Is Server Core?
    Best regards,
