Oracle Buisness Intellegence Administration Tool/Multiple users

I am trying to have two people work together on a project on 1 server, both people are remoteing into the server.
The built in administrator account can use the administration tool without any problems but any other user I create on the server level I get "Incomplete Oracle Bi Server Suite configuration" message, these new users have full administrative privledges,
Any ideas, or if this can even be done....
Thanks
Joe

Why do you need the other users to login to the server? All they should need is to use the Admin Tool which they can run from their PCs. OBIEE Server is setup to run from one account, you can't run multiple BI Servers on the same Server.

3-copy the sqlnet and tnsnames.ora files into E:\obiee11gtmt\Oracle_BI1\network\admin and E:\obiee11gtmt\oracle_common\network\admin
    4- put this in DSN with connection type OCI 10g/11g (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = IP Addr)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL) ))

  • Oracle BI EE Administration Tool Not starting up

    Hi All,
I have installed BI EE on windows xp and when I tried to start the Administration tool nothing happens. Can anyone assist please.
    Regards
    Remeez

    Hi,
Probably I found a workaround to this problem: runas command. This gives a possibility to start admintool using an other user. You can find runas command syntax here http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/runas.mspx?mfr=true.
In my case, I changed Administration shortcut Target (Start -> Oracle Business Intelligence -> Administration and right click properties) to this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\runas.exe /user:RISTOS-XP\administrator C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\AdminTool.exe
I first tried this (thanks to my old gollege in Oracle Finland) as right click admintool.exe and selecting " Run as" and then "The following user:" and Administrator of my computer. I'm not sure, why I have this starting problem, maybe because I have to use Domain\UserId login. My domain login belongs to the local administrators group, but for some reason in this case it is not enough ..

  • Oracle Business Intelligence Administration Tool for Windows

I am having issues installing Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Client on Windows 7 32 bit.
This is how we set up our server:
    - OBIEE 11g Server is installed and configured in RHEL 5 64bit.
(We have installed and configured Oracle Database, RCU and the OBIEE)
    - Our users are working on a Windows 7 32 bit and they are the one who will be accessing the BI Server.
I have come across a bunch of information regarding our setup. I am sure that our BI Server is working properly as a matter of fact, we can now use Oracle Warehouse Builder of the BI Server.
According to Metalink Doc Id: 417656.1, OBIEE Tools are only available in Windows platforms. I beleive this is the reason why we only configured OWB in our BI server (which is in RedHat) and we cannot find a way to configure OBIEE Admin Tools. But when I read the doc id, it applies to 10g versions of BI Server, what about 11g? Is there a way to configure and use OBIEE Admin tools from the BI Server in Linux?
Also, according to the official docs:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c4_installing.htm#CEGEHEJF
4.6.1 Installing Oracle Business Intelligence Client Tools
"..If you installed Oracle Business Intelligence on a computer running a Linux, UNIX, or 64-bit Windows operating system, and you want to use Oracle Business Intelligence client tools, you must perform the following additional steps..."
So in my own understanding, this fits our current setup. Is this the correct solution so we can access OWB of the BI Server and use BI Admin tools from our 32 bit windows?
Also, I have read many bloggers and users having issues in Windows 7? Following the official docs i pasted here which has steps 1-3, is Windows 7 supported by Oracle Business Intelligence 11g?
Any help, confirmation (with credible basis) and further questions about this issue will be very much honored. Thanks a lot!

    Marko,
I know I answered you through support, but for the benefit of the newsgroups
When using Oracle, you must run the sql scripts provided. The
insert-pzsamples-oracle.sql script is included in the create-p13n-oracle.sql
scripts. This script includes inserting information into the tables that are
required for creating new portlets. In particular, inserts to the
WLCS_SCHEMA table and inserts to the Meta Data tables (*MD*) are required.

  • Restrict multiple users

    Hi Friends,
Ours is OLAP system (10g Rel 2) . I have a package where in I populate a core table based on many working tables. I query the 4 working tables using a ref cursor and populate the data into an associative array and then looping through this array I populate the core table. Every time when I run this package I truncate the core table and repopulate it with the new data.
Actually this package should run for a single user and multiple users cannot run this. But even if multiple users run, it should not affect the data getting populated into the core table.
How do we handle this? Does Oracle internally handle this if multiple users run the same package??
    Thanks

ZaraIf this "core table" were a Global Temporary Table, you would have the desired characteristics.
Any regular table does not do as desired.
BTW - On the surface this sound like a non-scalable, inefficient, & brute force implementation.

  • Oracle BI Administration tool - Connection has failed

Hi, can any one let me know how to connect database in oracle bi administration tool, am trying to connect it but it always give an error the connection has failed

    Hi,
If your source is Oracle then you can use OCI and provide the user name and password details in connection pool,
else create one ODBC connection in your local machine and select the created ODBC from the connection pool and give Mauser/password credentials.
    Mark If Helpful/correct.

  • The proble of import user by LDAP in BI Administrator tool

I can conn Ldap, but when I try to import user in the BI Administrator took, the error pop up "Not supported for Active services".
    anyone knows this .

    Hi
Yes, it is possible against AD - we've done it successfully.
There are a few links out there that's applicable:
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/10/oracle-bi-ee-101332-using-ldapoid-authentication/
Some of the snags we ran into (might be different in your case):
    - If LDAP version 3 doesn't work, try 2.
    - Our User attribute is sAMAccountName
You might also get a sizelimit error when trying to import users. Look at my previous post on this at Re: LDAP Authenticationj with OBIEE
    Note:
Why you need to import users in your admin tool -- what purpose your importing user in your rpd?
If it is for authentication purpose - no need to import users in your rpd.
Once you have set up your LDAP details on the rpd, do not import the users.
OBI will connect to the LDAP server and complete the authentication piece.
Now to authorize, you would need an external table. Here are instruction on how to set up that:
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2007/05/21/using-initialization-blocks-with-ldap-and-database-queries-to-control-authentication-and-authorization/
    2.
In addition to the LDAP authentication you need to populate the GROUP variable (also shown in above link). This is where the relationship between users and groups is loaded. This normally requires the USERS=>GROUPS relationship to be in an external table although there are other ways to do it from LDAP such as in [this example|http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/12/oracle-bi-ee-101332-and-oid-user-and-group-phase-2/].
    Refer the below links :
You can two ways we can implement authentication.

  • Grant the right to let user use administration tool

    hi, experts,
I have logined a PC using local administrator and installed only the oracle bi administration tool.
when I use another user(second user, not in local administrator groups) to login, I cannot run the administration tool.
then I logined the PC using local administrator again and grant the right to second useron the file C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\AdminTool.exe
then I use second user to login again and I can run admin tool.
    my question is
should I also grant the rights on other files to second user?
    or only C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\AdminTool.exe ?
    thank you very much!

You'll want to grant more privs that just the admin tools because there's also the catalog manager, job manager etc. I would recommend granting read/execute on both the OracleBI folder and the OracleBIData folders just to make sure they run the files they need to.
Let me know what you go with.
    Best regards,
