Oracle By Example for NoSQL

Hi,
When can we expect NoSQL articles in Oracle By Example?
Regards,
Giridhar Kodakalla

Gridhar,
At the moment, you can find two simple but complete examples within the NoSQL DB package itself. There is a hello world program, and well as a simple client application called SchemaExample that you can build and run gainst an Oracle NoSQL Database deployment. The SchemaExample can be a starting point to example exploration of the product.
See the Getting Started Guide at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/NOSQL/html/AdminGuide/smoketest.html for information on how to compile and run the hello world program. These directions can be extended to the SchemaExample application too.
We'll be adding more step by step compilation instructions for SchemaExample to the FAQ.

Linda

  • Example Oracle Spatial Queries for NAVTEQ Data

    Hi,
I recently installed NAVTEQ RDF data into an Oracle database. I am new to Oracle Spatial and am looking for some example queries using the NAVTEQ data in the Oracle database.
For example, suppose I have a point (latitude, longitude). What are the queries for each of these:
    1) find roads or faces within 5 miles of that point;
    2) find roads or faces that cover that point
    Thanks!
    Bowden

    Hi,
There are a lot of of ways to license the data (county, state, country), there are different flavors (mapping, geocoding, and routing), and there are different licensing options for the Oracle platform (user based and cpu/core based). I cannot think of a use case that would approach the cost below.
Feel free to drop me an email (daniel dot abugov at navteq dot com) and we can discuss.

  • Oracle By Example - New Install for Each Module?

I downloaded the Data Warehouse Oracle By Example module. The instructions indicate that that Oracle must be uninstalled and reinstalled before following this module. Do you know if this is necessary? And is it necessary for each module one wants to follow?
I'd rather not uninstall my current DBs, but will if I must. Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Miki

    Apologies.
Seems like the OAM-OVD tutorial is not present in the new OBE library. Anyways you may check the below link to configure OAM to OVD.

  • Oracle AS Adapter for SAP R/3

    Hello everyone.
I have some questions abuot the Oracle AS Adabter for SAP.
I have to get values out of miniSAP and integrate them in a BPEL Process. In SAP there is a function to generate a Webservice out of a BAPI for example! This Web Service I want to include in a bpel process. This is the way I try it till now!!!!
Now I read an article about the Adapter.
Is the task i explained abouve possible to do it with the adapter?
If yes, Can I include every BAPI in a bpel process with the adapter?
What are the prerequisites I need for the adapter? I have installed an Infrastructure, a Middle Tier (Portal) and the BPEL process manager.
    Thanks a lot

Thank you veyr much Manoj for your reply. I just tried it now buit no fruits.
I wonder if it can really be due to privileges given to my account, which allows to connect thru SAP Front-end but does not allow to connect by any other means. I can not think of any other possible reason.

  • Oracle Instant Client for Intel MacOS X

Hi all, this is my first post here (so I don't know if it's the proper place, but to try it is free. Sorry for any inconvenience).
Anybody, can confirm/explain why, one year after launch, there isn't one available download of Oracle Instant Client for Intel MacOS X?
Without it's impossible, for example, to compile PHP with OCI support under Intel MacOS X (native mode) and it's really a pain.
With PPC version existing since ages, wouldn't be absolutely easy to recompile that cool stuff for Intel MacOS X?
TIA and ciao, Eloy Lafuente :-)

    Hi again...
just to know a bit more... two months later... how is customer demand going...?
Have you searched for "macos x instant client intel" ?
    Aren't PHP/Perl/Ruby applications enough?
I sincerely think it's a big mistake to don't offer native connectivity for MacOS X Intel users... of course, your mistake.
Some developers, like me, will stop developing/improving Oracle support in their applications just because they use MacOS X to develop. So, those applications won't run ok under Oracle, no matter where you deploy them.
With thousands of applications running natively under MacOS X Intel... isn't there (@ Oracle) able to recompile that tiny piece of software to run under Intels... sorry but I cannot believe it.
I'll email SJ right now! Ciao :-)

    Hello Martin,
This is a known problem with wlst-jython. One cannot catch syntax errors
programmatically. The only way is to avoid loading properties file
    that may cause syntax errors.
I am curious though how can a user enter invalid properties via a script?
    thanks,
    -satya
    Martin Gustavsson wrote:
    Hi,
When there are syntax errors in WLST-script, the calling program will get no information about this.
In our case the calling program is ANT. If the user enters invalid properties it could cause syntax errors in the WLST script. But the ANT task always receive a successfull code back and doesn't know that it went wrong.
What is the workaround for this? How can I from WLST return a fail code so that ANT does not continue?

  • Updated OWB module available in "Oracle By Example" series on OTN

    All,
The Oracle By Example series on OTN has been updated to Oracle9i Release 2. This includes a Warehouse Builder module updated from 3i to 9i. The module is a simple set of hands-on activities using the order entry tables that come with the database. (The module is a high-level overview, not a substitute for the 4-day instructor led course, "Oracle9i Warehouse Builder: Implementation", course code D12157GC20.)
The URL for the Oracle By Example OWB module is:
    http://otn.oracle.com/obe/
Click "Oracle by Example Series Release 2".
Then click #8, "Build a Data Warehouse for Business Intelligence".
Then click #8, "Creating a Data Warehouse Using Oracle Warehouse Builder".
    Regards,
    Rick

    Hi Paul,
    As far as my understanding.
You dont want to create "REL_EXPENSE.REL_EXPENSE.REL_TIME_DAY_CODE" in the times dimension since the "code" attribute is already present in the time dimension(once you created using time wizard).
Soon after you created the cube by mapping the two dimension "category" and "times" to it, all the attributes in both the dimension will be present in the cube automatically. Other than this you will create a measure column named "Expense" in the cube.

  • Oracle DB specs for RH Server 6

My company's tech pubs division is planning to implement
RoboHelp Server 6. The IT staff has asked for detailed specs on
what the Oracle database will need (they plan to use Oracle 10g).
For example, what are the table sizes and how much space
    requirements will the database need?
I've done preliminary searches with Google and also searched
the Adobe knowledge base but haven't found the information we need.
In fact, there doesn't seem to be any available detailed
information for setting up RoboHelp Server/Oracle. The next step
would be to contact Adobe's tech support, although I've read
negative posts in these forums about the quality of service.
In the meantime, if anyone has information to share, that
    would be great. Thanks!

    Good morning m'lud
I'm not sure this type of information would be found on
Adobe's site as it depends on the amount of data you are storing in
the database. To be honest even if you contacted Adobe Support they
would probably say the same thing. By all means try contacting them
    though.

  • What all Operating System are Supported on Oracle VM Server for Sparc ?

    hi,
Does Oracle VM Server for Sparc Support's Solaris OS of different version
or it also supports linux & windows OS also...
    thnaks in advance....

The modern SPARC platform ( sun4v ) is locked in Solaris. No chances for open-source OS'es like Linux or *BSD.
This is because the important hardware documentation is closed ( known only to Sun / Oracle engineers ). For example:
      *  virtualization features of CPU are documented only at hypervisor-call level (part of Sun servers' firmware), and only partially.
      *  CPU errata are closed ( Some errata for old UltraSPARC III were opened during OpenSolaris project, but that's all).
      *  crypto features ( SPU and MAU ) are closed.
