Oracle Calendar and Pocket PC.

This is a problem i am trying to solve in regards to oracle calendar and Pocket PC.
If you have a pocket PC is it possible to sync it with the calendar server without a desktop PC.
Eg. I take my pocket PC oversea's and want to sync my calendar with my calendar server ?
Thank You
Daniel

You would need a wireless internet connection on your PDA and have SyncML access to your calendar server enabled. Also you want to install the synthesis client on the PDA.
The chapter handling the Sync Server can be find in the Calendar Resource Kit Manual under Chapter : '5 Oracle Sync Server'.
Device specific information can be found in the section 'Configuring devices for Or
acle Sync Server' Source : http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B10894_05/sync_server.htm#sthref144

  • Syncing Oracle Calendar and iCal both ways

    Hi,
Is there a 3rd party application or any solution that could be used to manage events between iCal (vsn 2) and Oracle Calendar in both ways?
I've found a few ways to sync iCal from Oracle Calendar, but didn't find the other way.
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Gui

Is there a way to make the Oracle client export to an .ics at regular intervals?
I'd like to drop the ics onto a webserver and subscribe to my work calendar.
Only issue with this process is manually exporting to ics when my calendar updates.

  • Exchange/Outlook 2007 and Oracle Calendar Collaboration

    Hi Guys!
I have a situation here in my incoming migration project. Is it really possible that an Oracle Calendar and Exchange/Outlook 2007 Calendar will collaborate or synchronize with each other? I only know that theres an Oracle Connector for Outlook in Oracle Collaboration suite, which will synchronize to Exchange/outlook calendar, but i didnt heard if the Exchange/Outlook Calendar will synchronized to Oracle Calendar simulataneously.
Please let me know if its possible or if theres a work around on this since we preferred them both to exists.
Thanks and i look forward on your replies.

    Same problem here.
All Day events entered in Outlook 2007 on my work machine that have ALL DAY checked and are only on that ONE Day, seem to come out fine. If however we have an all-day event that goes multiple days, then it enters it on my iphone taking up 00:00-00:00, which is very messy if you have two ALL-day envents on the same day (when tracking different personnel for example).
I have noticed the real annoying item though is that changing it on my iPhone 4 directly, that once I put in the right start and end dates, and choose ALL DAY, about 5 seconds later it actually changes the START DAY! This makes you go back to change the start day, then it changes the end day so you change that, and now finally all sorted.
This NEVER happened on my iPhone3G that I have used with Excahgne for over two years now. Only since I got my iPhone4.
    PLEASE Apple, fix this!!!!

  • Oracle Calendar Sync for PocketPC and ActiveSync 4.0 Support

I'm trying to sync Oracle Calendar and Windows Mobile 5 for a user. PocketPC 2003 Second Edition worked fine. ActiveSync 4.0 is not offering me the ability to sync with Oracle Calendar. Any ideas?

First disable Oracle Conduit in ActiveSync
    1) transfer the cab to the PDA and install it by double clicking on the executable
    2) make sure that your PDA can make internet contact via the cradle by setting
in ActiveSync on the PC under Tools; Options; Pass trough connection: The Internet.
3)Next open the Synthesis client on the PDA and tap on Extra; Settings. Change both items to The Internet and tap on OK
    4)Next open Extras; Settings
    - Server Settings: <your host>:<Your infra port>/ocst-bin/ocas.fcgi
    -Your username and password
    4b)Tap on Organizer:
    -Contacts: Server Path: ./contacts
    -Events: Server Path: ./Calendar/Events
    -Tasks: Server path: ./Calendar/Tasks
tap on ok and try to Sync via SyncML Start

  • Synchronization between Oracle Calendar 10.2 and Exchange 5.5 calendar

We are going to migrate 1000 users from Exchange 5.5 to OCS 10.1.2.3.
Mail and Calendar migration is done with ES/EX-migrate, but we have a PABX system (Trio Present 2.3) that is integrated with Exchange Calendar, and this is not compatible with Oracle Calendar in its current release.
In simple terms Trio is integrated with the calendar to programme our phones to "Busy", "Home Sick", "Meeting" etc, based on calendar entries.
In order to preserve this functionality we have to "coexist" with Exchange's calendar.
I see in the Coexistence guide that this is possible to booke meetings in both alendars, but we need a synchronization feature, as the users can booke meetings through their phones, which are then inserted in Exchange, but not Oracle.....
    Any idéas ?
    Regards,
    André

If you find a solution that actually synchronizes between Oracle Calendar and Exchange, let me know. I don't want the Outlook connector - which creates access to the Oracle Calender using Outlook - I actually want to synchronize between the Exchange calendar and the Oracle Calendar. This way, if I update Exchange (using Outlook), Oracle Calendar will be updated when I synch. Also, if I modify the Oracle Calendar, the Exchange Calendar will be updated. We are using Exchange 6.

  • Oracle Calendar Contacts and Palm Sync

    Hi,
When I synchronize Contacts between the Oracle Calendar and my Palm (Tungsten E) the Home address and the birthday is not synchronized. Not when I insert the information on the Palm and not when I insert the information in the Oracle Calendar. Is there a way to accomplish this ?
    Thanks !
    Erwin

    Hello,
I can't find the forum thread now, but this issue has been brought up in the past, and I don't believe the new fields in the Tungsten E or T3 are currently supported with the sync utility. It sounded like they were looking at support for some future release.

  • Oracle Calendar MacOSX and SyncML

    Hi!
I am a bit lost after reading tons of threads and links...
    Here my questions:
    1. I sync my Pocket PC running WM5 and SyncML client from Synthesis.ch to sync with Space2go.com, which works fine. On the other side I would love to sync that server with Oracle Calendar. Unfortunately the server address given is not being accepted by Oracle Calendar.
What could be the issue? The server address is http://sync.sync2go.com/sync/ml.dll
Could it be that Ocal does not support SyncML?
    2. I have no clue why I cannot import any ics files from iCal into my agenda. I get the error message: There are no valid entries to import!
Am I completely on the wrong track or could someone enlighten me?
    cheers Nicolas

I had the same problem using Oracle's iCalendar Import option with some iCAL files, this is what I learned:
Using: Oracle calendar client V10.1.2.0.0.710 for Mac OS X (I have not tested on Windows client).
The iCAL (.ics) file was generated from IBM Lotus Notes 7.
    ie. "PRODID:-//Lotus Development Corporation//NONSGML Notes 7.0//EN"
    Issues:
-- 1. Time zone string using by IBM was not supported by Oracle in format "Eastern".
    needed: America/New_York
-- 2. If the event has "RECURRENCE-ID" line it will not import into Oracle
-- 3. Events with RDATE line and "VALUE=PERIOD" in will not import into Oracle
    Details:
I have found solutions four problems in the iCS file from IBM that stop the import:
    1. Time Zone not valid:
         DTSTART;TZID="Eastern":20070529T140000
         DTEND;TZID="Eastern":20070529T150000

  • Syncing iPhone with Outlook and with Oracle Calendar

Set up: Windows XP 2, Oracle Calendar Server, iPhone with 2.0.2 and iTunes 7.7.1.11. Outlook is the desktop client to Oracle Server. Others make appointments for me around my organization.
I have had successful syncs but also failures in this environment, but after the latest releases of firmware and iTunes, it consistently stopped syncing.
I think I have found an unsatisfactory work-around. If I go into the .com add-ins and disable the Oracle connector in Outlook, then I can get the iPhone to sync to Outlook. I then have to turn the connector on to interact with the server. Manageable but not pleasant.
    Is there a better solution?

Originally all of Apple products were intended for use with Mac computers. Macs have default program - iCal to sync calendars. Windows default program is ironically Microsoft Outlook. There couple more options in iTunes for
calendar sync, but those need to be chosen and not default.
In your particular situation since you don't have outlook anymore, you don't need to make any changes. No outlook - no sync. Apple way - no user interference nessesary.
Please do remember that everyting I write is just my opinion, nothing more or less.

  • DBA Cockpit: Planning calendar and remote Oracle databases- which method?

For using DBA Planning Calendar to schedule BR*Tools for remote Oracle database AS Java systems I have successfully implemented both the Secure Shell and SAP gateway methods in [Note 1025707 - DBA Cockpit: Planning calendar and remote Oracle databases|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1025707] and was interested in which of these two methods others have found to be more supportable and maintainable?
In more detail, the note has these two methods for non-ABAP remote systems:
    2. Connection through Remote/Secure Shell
Specifically Secure Shell. Rejecting remote shell as too old and insecure a protocol.
    3 Connection through SAP gateway
The note provides clues as to how these methods work. Expanding on that:
With #2, central ABAP system calls out to its OS user level to execute the ssh client (after gw/rem_start has been set to the non-default value SSH_SHELL) which it finds in the location specified in gw/ssh (default value is /usr/bin/ssh). It must use password-less authentication and the key-based authentication must also not require a passphrase. (Using ssh-agent is not an option since this is being called from SAP, not from your own script.)
It remotely runs via ssh a command, sapxpg, which must be found in the PATH of the remote user. (This is why the note, which has you place this exe sapxpg and a subset of the BR*Tools in the home dir of the remote user, also has you make sure the home dir is included in the path--your OS might or might not include the user's home dir in the path in the default shell environment for a new user.)
Then via sapxpg, the BR*Tools are invoked.
One thing that may be confusing here is you have to check at least one gateway parameter 'gw/...' in the central system to get the method #2 the non-gateway method to work--this is because the two methods are technically almost the same: in #2, secure shell is used to basically start a gateway on the fly with sapxpg in order to call the BR*Tools each time a DBA Planning Calendar action runs or you view DBA or Backup logs of the remote system from the central system. With #3, the gateway runs continuously on the remote system.
With #3, central system connects to remote SAP standalone gateway, which executes the BR*Tools installed in the standard SAP kernel directory of the SAP gateway. This method is simpler to describe so it sounds like it has less components than the secure shell method, however you do have an entire SAP system running, although it is just a standalone gateway.
    Thoughts:
These pros/cons are UNIX/Linux-oriented since I assume most Windows environments do not have added 3rd-party products that provide secure shell so SAP gateway is the only method.
    Secure shell
+ Less software required (not counting secure shell which comes with the operating system distribution): just a few SAP executables placed in the home dir of an ordinary user on the remote system.
+ Secure shell service probably automatically starts upon boot of the remote system operating system.
+ Secure shell is a widely used tool outside of SAP for executing commands remotely without passwords.
    - Installation is non-standard: shell environment of remote user is not adapted by SAP installer since SAP installer is not used, SAP executables in the home dir of the remote user is non-standard. Has to be setup manually.
    - Requires setting up secure shell key-based authentication, which should be known by UNIX/Linux admins or combined Basis/UNIX/Linux admins, but might be less familiar to SAP Web AS only admins.
    - If your admin config policy is to have SAP interact as little possible with the OS level for interfaces with other systems, here you are relying on the OS-level secure shell.
    - Using a private key that does not require a passphrase on the central system may not fit with your security policies if you have standards for secure shell configuration.
    SAP gateway
+ The gateway is a standard installation, performed with SAP installation tool, with the exception of a few additional environment settings that have to be added after the installation. BR*Tools are installed in the standard location. Can use standard procedures for updating this software.
    + Only uses SAP software.
    - More software on remote system: standalone gateway just to run BR*Tools and view logs.
    - SAP Kernel of remote gateway should probably be updated whenever you do SAP kernel updates across your systems for consistency. One more system to update.
    - Shell environment of remote user that runs the gateway looks like something setup by the SAP installer but is not standard because it has a few additional environment variables added.
    - Need to make sure the SAP gateway is started on the remote system.

    Hi Joe,
I configured a monitoring/dba landscape for two SAP Portals and one SAP BusinessObjects system on a SAP landscape by using DBACOCKPIT, at a customer site. These systems are running on AIX, Windows 2003/2008 servers and attached to the central monitoring system with standalone SAP gateway installations.
One another reason to not use OS based commands or 3rd party tools is security. We are stopping and disabling most of the services on OS where SAP system is running on, because of the security reasons. I faced more security gaps on rsh/ssh and the other tools than standalone SAP Gateway installations. As you can figure out that rsh/ssh is getting more attack than standalone SAP Gateway, because of well known by the IT world.
As a summary of it, this depends to point of view and policy of the IT organization. I applied both ssh and standalone SAP Gateway solutions at my customers, but I choose standalone SAP Gateway installation among of them.

  • Can you synchronise a Nokia E61 with Oracle Calendar over the wire?

    Hi there.
I work in IT and I have just got the Nokia E61 to test out as an alternative to the MDA's that we currently have. Basically we are looking to phase these out as they have proved to be very unreliable but they have been relatively easy to setup via ActiveSync.
Now that I have just received a Nokia E61 to test I was wondering; is there a way I can get Oracle Calendar to synchronise over the wire as opposed to over the air,
just like i could on the MDA's after installing Oracle Calendar Sync for Pocket PC.
The reason why I ask is as a company we would like to do over the wire is so that pc users can synchronise their organisers via usb without costing the company any money via GPRS connections.
Is their a possibility that this could be done or will I have to go down the SyncML route?
In advance many thanks for your help!

This cannot be achieved with the Synthesis SyncML client. The latest Oracle Calendar Application System server patch (10.1.2.3.1) only mentions Nokia N90 and 6682.
So Oracle does not support Nokia E61 yet. I suggest that you raise an enhancement request SR on Metalink.
    Best regards,
    Fred

  • Oracle calendar with Nokia phones

I am planning to buy a Nokia phone (e.g. 6230i). One for me important application is the calendar, and I want to be able to use it in combination with the Oracle calendar I use at work.
This is for me the best case scenario:
I plug in my phone to my laptop at work and the phone and the laptop will synchronize automatically, and it will do so untill the end of the day when I go home. This way, I always have an up-to-date calendar with me.
So far, I have not been able to get good information about the possibilities. I find a lot of information on palm tops and pocket pc's, but I doubt it that I am the only one who wants to us the Oracle calendar with a mobile phone.
Please let me know what software to use, and (just as important) where to find it.
    Thank you,
    Marco Bouwkamp

Aside from Lumia 1520 and Lumia Icon, this feature is also available on Lumia 930, 630, 630 Dual SIM, and Lumia 635. Hope this helps.

  • Oracle Calendar not showing in Outlook

I have tried installing both 9.0.4.2 and 10.1.2.08 on this machine with the same issue. Product installs just fine, or at appears so, but when you open Outlook (2003) and go to the Calendar, there is no option for Oracle Calendar. When 9.0.4.2 was initially installed, it was fine, then it appears to have degraded and the user was getting an error stating "Error while creating an automation class" when trying to view the schedule of a contact. Now, the calendar just doesn't show at all anymore. I unstalled 9.0.4.2 and reinstalled, still no good. I than installed (upgrade) 10.1.2.08 and same result.

my solution was disable the routing Control from the SMTP Inbound server from mail aplication, but this is not recomendable for security reason, but works

  • CLI tools to import Calendar and AddressBook entries into multiple users?

We've exported data from an older 3rd-party messaging system being replaced with OCUCS 7u2, with calendar and task data as ICS files (one file with dozens of entries), and address-book data in a similar format (carddav?), one file of each type per user (who had non-empty calendars or address-books).
Now the quest is to get this data into OCUCS :)
Unfortunately, davadmin did not work for us (see post davadmin does not work with a GF instance without admin server for more details), and there seems to be no similar tool for PAB to import/export entries.
We expected to find or write some scripts that would either add data into OCUCS backends (PAB LDAP, davadmin or even direct mysql for calendar+tasks), but it seems more proper to use standard tools (if available) instead of inventing our own wheels - that is, caldav/carddav or WCAP/WABP HTTP clients, or other protocol tools that can do import/export like GUI clients but invoked from command line and with proxy-auth capability.
To review, we need to be able to import some file-based representation of calendar and addressbook data into OCUCS users' accounts from Unix command-line/script. If using protocol tools, this should work using only one admin account with the known password (and proxy-authenticating into other users' addressbooks and calendars for import tasks). For additional imports (i.e. synchronization while the old system is primary) no duplicate entries should appear, at least as long as they are identical; preferably UID and timestamp (if available) should be used to update older entries.
Surprisingly, there are tons of GUI and mobile clients and plugins, but we found nearly no command-line ones. Seemingly, our best automation option might be to impose scripting onto clients like Thunderbird/Lightning or Convergence to do the jobs, or possibly fool an OutLook with the Connector into doing the job. Automation like CURL proxy-logins into Convergence and calling import/export URLs from there are being explored now...
What do other people use for such quests? What can you suggest? What do you know we should look out for? ;)
    Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the hint, it does seem the way to go, except that I can't get it working so far :(
One thing to look out for is the line-ending character (should be DOS-style CRLF), so I have to "dos2unix" and "unix2dos" my prepared POST data to get it cleaned up properly (comes from various sources, so both endings are present in original blob of text).
However, now that I got the appserver to accept the post data, calendar says "missing file param", or in more detail:
    BEGIN:VCALENDAR
    VERSION:2.0
    PRODID:-//Oracle Corporation/CS 7u2-4.19//EN
    X-NSCP-WCAP-ERRNO:60

    , invalid date.
    X-NSCP-WCAP-ERRNO-DETAILED-MESSAGE:missing file param
END:VCALENDARI've tried with "id" and proper login session (via login.wcap) instead of simple http auth, with the same result.
Am I hitting something stupid simple? ;)
Next I'd have to try it with a real web-browser...
Edited by: JimKlimov on Apr 24, 2013 3:22 AM
UPDATE: Tried with a browser, same result when I login with either a proxy-user and its pass, or the end-user and his pass. Logins with bad credentials do fail.
Maybe the ICS data format is unexpected by Calendar Server (too many fields, some Microsoft-centric), or there are problems with UTF-8 text pieces in the entries? (Produced with DavMail, an open-source tool recommended by an Oracle engineer)
Alas, same result for the sample ICS markup in that Wiki post...
Thanks in advance for any more ideas :)
