With 11gR2, there is integrated CDC using the JKM framework from ODI, so you can use triggers, logs, streams and GoldenGate for example there is a GoldenGate example here;

Significance of Global_names parameter in Oracle CDC and Oracle Streams

Hi,
I am trying to implement a sample Oracle CDC example.
I read in some examples that we need to set a parameter *'global_names= TRUE'*. (which means that all dblink names should be same as their respective database names)
But my doubt is that what will happen if i use the default value 'FALSE' for this parameter without changing it to 'TRUE'.
Is it mandatory to make 'global_names= TRUE' ?
Could anyone please explain this.

Thanks for the reply.
Currently there are some dblinks in my database(with dblink names different from the database).
My concern is,
If i make global_names=TRUE, then all my earlier dblinks with that database will not work.
and if I DONOT make global_names= TRUE, then i will not be able to work with Oracle CDC/Streams with the database.
I am looking to find out any work around to overcome this deadlock type of situation.
I would be very thankful if you can give some idea to come out of this problem.

CDC for Oracle in SQL 2012 not writing updates

I have set up a CDC for Oracle Service and Instance for use with SQL 2012. After the instance was started, I inserted six rows of data into my Oracle table and a few minutes later, it looks like the changes were picked up by the service.
The instance status page contains the following information:
Status = Green Checkmark
Detailed Status = PROCESSING
Last Transaction Timestamp = 7/22/2014 12:11:56 PM
Last Change Timestamp = 7/22/2014 11:58:35 AM
Transaction Log Head Change Number = 0x0A2C1C...
Transaction Log Tail Change Number = 0x0A2C1C... (not the same value as the head)
Current Change Number = 0x0A2C1C...
Active Transactions = 1
Staged Transactions = 0
Completed Transactions = 0
Written Changes = 0
Read Changes = 6
It looks like the six rows have been read, but they are not being written to cdc.CDC_TEST_TABLE_CT on my SQL 2012 database.
I exported the diagnostic data using the "Collect Diagnostics" link, but there are no errors in the log. Is there a primer for how to read the results of the diagnostics?
I had the following error earlier today:
"ORACDC517E:Oracle Call Intreface (OCI) method failed: ORA-01291: missing logfile
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOGMNR"
But that error was resolved when my Oracle account was granted DBA and "execute_catalog_role" permissions.
The account being used for the CDC Service and Instance has dbo rights on the SQL Server.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

I followed the instructions from Rakesh Parida's video on Technet. Below are the individual steps I followed for creating the CDC Service and Instance.
CDC Service Setup:
I made sure that supplemental logging was enabled on my Oracle server. I also made sure that my Windows account had DBA and "execute_catalog_role" permissions on the Oracle database.
From the CDC Service Config MMC I ran Action>Prepare SQL Server which created the MSXDBCDC database.
I then ran Action>New Service and entered the following information:
Service name: OracleCDCService1
Service Account: "This Account" radio button with my Windows username and password information
Associated SQL Server: <My SQL 2012 Server>
Authentication: Windows authentication
I also provided a CDC Service master password.
CDC Instance Setup:
Connected to <My SQL 2012 Server> using the CDC Designer MMC
Went through the steps of creating the Oracle CDC Instance
Oracle CDC Instance Name = CDC_TEST_SOURCE
Connected to my Oracle DB using Windows authentication
Selected a single table that I wanted to try CDC on and left CDC Gating Role blank
Ran the Oracle Logging script that enables table logging and supplemental log groups on the Oracle DB
Ran the Status Check step and all passed
Finished the wizard and started the instance
A few minutes after the instance was started I added six records to the table in Oracle.

Problem in build Oracle Fusion Store Front Demo Application

I downloaded the "Oracle Fusion Store Front Demo Application" from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/samples/fod/index.html,
and tryed to build it after fininshing editing the "build.properties" in JDeveloper 11g, but four errors appeared ,the message in the log window is:

Granularity of change rules in CDC (using Oracle streams) at columns level.

Is it possible to implement granularity of change rules in CDC (using Oracle streams) at columns level.
E.g. table abc with columns a1, b1, c1 where c1 is some kind of auditing column. I want to use CDC on table abc but want to ignore changes on c1.
Is it possible? My other option is to split table abc into a child table that has the Primary key and c1 only but it needs additional table and joins.

Attunity CDC for Oracle Service - Oracle 12c Support

For the Attunity CDC for Oracle service that is bundled with SQL Server 2012 SP1, is there support for Oracle 12c? Or, will there be updates in the near future to support Oracle 12c? If not, are there other solutions for incremental changes between
Oracle 12c and SQL Server?

Attunity is not bundled with SQL it is a separate item you need to download and pay for (unless you are on the Enterprise edition of SQL Server).
Regarding the rest of the info: http://www.attunity.com/products/attunity-connect/ssis-connectors-for-oracle-and-teradata says Oracle 6 or HIGHER, so yes, for the updates: Attunity now supports SQL Server 2014.
I am not aware of any other solutions from the Microsoft solution stuck side of the view.

SSIS Pattern for CDC for Oracle

I am in the process of implementing the CDC for Oracle product from Attunity, and I have a good understanding of how the CDC process works from Oracle to SQL Server. The next step is to load the changes into our operational data store.
Does anyone know of good patterns in SSIS for handling the initial and ongoing loads for CDC for Oracle? I have SSIS packages that handle pure SQL Server CDC, so I understand that process. However, I'm not sure if there are special
things that need to be done to mark the end of the initial load and then start loading changes into the operational data store. Are there any gotchas I need to keep in mind when working with Oracle data and the CDC changes
in SQL Server? My main concerns are with data consistency between the Oracle system and our operational data store, once the initial load is finished, CDC is started and we copy data to the operational data store. What are good patterns
to ensure I'm not missing data, and that I don't introduce duplicate records, because of timing.
Any advice is appreciated.

CDC for Oracle in SQL Server 2012
It populates the change data in a SQL Server database, just like SQL Server CDC would. So the built-in SSIS support for SQL Server CDC will work.
Change Data Capture (SSIS)
One difference is that the current table data is not available in the SQL database; only the change data is. So to do a full init, or reinit of a table you would have to load that data directly from Oracle.

Oracle CDC not capturing the changes

Hi,
I am pretty new to using Oracle CDC, we have setup Hot log (Async) Oracle CDC.
Change Tables are created in one schema (Schema A) and change views are created in another schema (Schema B)
Recently we added new set of tables (Around 300 new tables) to the existing change set, from this point the change capture stopped working.
All the steps like extend , Purge excutes without any errors but no data is getting populated in change views in Schema B reason beign change data is not getting populated in change tables ?
Can someone please suggest how can i resolve this issue?

Oracle CDC 10g, latest row only

New to Oracle CDC.
For some of the source tables we are not interested in getting history. Is there a way the Change Tables can only contain the lastest version of the row? So the change table will only contain the rows that have changed, but only one row per PK.
Also is there a way to link the tables together to create an object for Parent Child processing?

in my corporate we need install Oracle CDC(async) with low impact overhead on us OLTP database for data warehouse
but my chief said me: u don't active any supplemental logging in database and tables.
now i work with dbms_logminer for mining archive log directly.I connect tothe primary database with the dbms_file_transfer package and get archive logs
and mining with dbms_logminer pkg committed transaction.
do u any body say me that are the possible this method and work correctly?
are anybody experienced mining directly oracle archive log for CDC?

Oracle COM Automation - Oracle 10g 10.2.0.1.0

I am trying to install the COM automation features available in Oracle 10g. But my installation of Oracle only contains the COM demo scripts. There is no comwrap.sql that installs the ORDCOM api. I looked through the products.xml file in my staging area and only found an entry for 'Oracle COM Automation Feature Demos'.
Anyone know what I am missing.

Unresolved symbol after migrating Pro*C from Oracle 8i to Oracle 10gR2

We are currently migrating a 32bits application written in Pro*C and Pro*Cobol from Oracle 8i client to Oracle 10gR2 client (Oracle 10gR2 server).
Precompiling, compiling and linking the source files are ok. But at runtime, the following error appears :

Select query differences between oracle 9 and oracle 8.

I have a problem using the select query between oracle 7 and oracle 9i I don't have the same result :
ex:
With oracle7
SQL> select 'champ1','champ2' from DUAL;

With Oracle 9
SQL> select 'champ1','champ2' from DUAL;
'CHAMP1' 'CHAMP2'

So Can someone tell me how to solve this problem ? Is there a parameter in oracle 9 to set?

Whenever you are posting anything over internet forums like this - you should be very careful about not just posting the details which requires to solve the problem - also should be sensible about your question.
This is not at all desired when you are posting such question. It may be because - you may not well aware of the fact.
My suggestion is -> First Go through the basics Of SQL in general.
Then go for any specific product like Oracle/ SQL Server/ Sybase etc.
And, finally learn the advanced commands of that DB.
You asked it - may be you thought the difference in output in terms of lines. But, that is not your actual output. That is the graphical display part only.
Anyway,
You can get the quite familier output by first type the following command ->
