Thanks in advance. From the information you have given the:
Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:PLSQL )
Would seem to be a suitable target certification.
I would suggest this is best achieved via study for the 1z0-051 and 1z0-144 exams. In general most people would consider studying for 1z0-051 (SQL) first.
matthew ... who regularly posts here .... has a comprehensive set of certification safe certificaiton resources for these exam here: http://www.oraclecertificationprep.com/apex/f?p=OCPSG:Exams:0::NO::::
There is no mandatory training for this certification, but oracle do recommend certain courses if you need them. As you have a some SQL knowledge you might wish to purchase the book by Watson for 1z0-051 as a low cost introduction. Also browse the website at http://certification.oracle.com

  • CERTIFICATION DETAILS FOR ORACLE DATABASE 11gR2 (11.2.0.3) with Oracle 9i AS.

    Hi,
My client is planning to upgrade from 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 database(AIX 6L). Client having ORACLE 9I AS on different machine and connecting to 10.2.0.2.  I am trying to check the certification details for this. but could not able to.  Any references please?
I gone through MOS certification, but could not find any thing related to this combination.
I am in the way of checking further options as well..
    Regards
    DBA....

Well, seeing as how AS 10g has been gone since 2009 Oracle Application Server 10g 9.0.4 & 9.0.4.x (Doc ID 295948.1) I'm not sure an older version would be supported.  Now, that's been superseded by an alleged lifetime support policy http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-technology-069183.pdf
but that probably has a funny definition of who's life.

  • Regarding Certification Details in Oracle Portal

    Hi All,
I did OCA and OCP certification two years back. I have used weblink to see the history of my certification details with score card in oracle portal. Now i m hutting for the same link to see my certification details in the portal.
If anybody know how to see our certified details in oracle portal please forward me the same and its quite urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Prabu

    Hi Prabu,
There is currently not a way to view your certification history online. We are working on a system that will allow this, but the system is still several months out. If you need to verify your certification details for a 3rd party (or for yourself), you can send an email to [email protected] and request verification of your certification(s). If you need to verify for a 3rd party, simply copy the 3rd party on the request and ask that the verification team reply to all in their response. Your 3rd party will receive the information required.

  • Which is the best Oracle certification for a programmer

    Hi,
I have been doing web development in java for about 2 years now. I already have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science but I want to stay competitive and am considering an Oracle Certification. The problem is that I am having trouble deciding which one to pursue. I am trying to keep emerging technologies in mind and I know that cloud computing and mobile devices are taking over. But I still know that there are many other companies out there that aren't ready for all that. I have found certifications such as:
    Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer
Oracle Certified Professional, Java EE 5 Web Component Developer
Oracle Certified Professional, Java EE 5 Business Component Developer
Oracle Certified Professional, Java EE 5 Web Services Developer
Oracle Certified Master, Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect
Oracle Certified Expert,Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 JavaServer Pages and
    Servlet Developer
Personally, I think that "Oracle Certified Master, Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect" looks the most attractive because it seems to wrap everything into one. But the prep time and costs for this are both pretty high. Does anyone have any good information or experience that can help me make a better decision?
    Thanks a bunch!

But I also doubt whether the question raised was clear enough for the person to be answered! - just my two cents ....Even if my question was not clear enough (which it was), i would expect someone applying for a senior position such as technical architect position to ask clarifying questions. My point from the beginning was, you absolutely are not qualified to become a technical architect with just a certification. Here is how the interview went
Me - How do you find out what your browser is submitting to the server from a purely client perspective?
Candidate - I will put the receiving server in debug mode and print out values.
Me - What if you don't have access to that server?
Candidate - Well, its my server.
Me - Okaay, you open your browser and go to CNN.com and click on a link, how do you find out details about that request?
    Candidate - You can't.
Me - So you are saying you can't inspect what your browser is sending in http requests?
    Candidate - yeah....i guess.
Me - Have you heard of tools such as wireshark, firebug, httpfox, http analyzer, tcpmon etc
Candidate - No, never heard of it.
I ended the interview after that.Hmm. Probably this guy didn't know what he was talking about, but still I wouldn't necessarily demand from someone applying for an architect position to know the gritty details of development; that's too low level for someone who should be focusing on the big picture. I'd rather have someone that knows how to design and guide people to build maintainable systems in stead of someone that knows how to sniff packets.
But then again you'd have to define what the architect role in this case exactly means. For all I know it is actually a senior developer position with a slightly better ring to the title ;)

*<p>The results of the Oracle Certification Program's 2009 Salary Survey, which was administered via the Internet earlier this year have been released.</p>*<p align="justify">Responses from Oracle Certification E-Magazine subscribers, Oracle Certified individuals, and visitors to the Oracle Certification Blog are included in the survey results - with participants from every demographic region worldwide.</p>
<p align="justify"> Of the 2,337 individuals who responded to the survey, 95% are employed either full- or part-time and reported that those who are Oracle certified typically earn an average salary that is $10K higher than candidates who are not certified.</p>

Am I the only one who doesn't see any figures (tried in FF & IE). Selecting from the LOV makes the page load but selecting an option e.g. regional salary / experience doesn't show anything.
    Edit: Europe doesn't show actually.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our salary survey. We are busy working to compile, summarize and publish the results. The information will be available through the Oracle certification website and I&rsquo;ll let you know through the Oracle Certification Blog when it is ready.</p>
<p>In the meantime however, I'd like to share some pre-release details that are interesting:</p>
    <ol>
    <li>Certified professionals earn over 13% more than non-certified counterparts.</li>
<li>Years of experience in a role makes a big difference in overall compensation.</li>
<li>Pay between various job roles (architect, developer, administrator) can be markedly different.</li>
<li>Professionals who have earned more than one Oracle certification earn more than those hold one, and typically - the more certifications that you hold, the more likely you are to earn more.</li>
    </ol>
<p>I&rsquo;ll discuss specific results in more detail when the salary survey results become available, and give my perspective on what it means to certification-holders and those considering certification. </p>
<p>I look forward to your comments and thoughts!

  • Oracle Certification : Help needed

    Hi friends !
I want to prepare for Oracle certification. But I am in dilemma as there are two versions of Oracle : 9i and 10g for which the certification exams exists.
10g is the latest one and I think it will be better to prepare for it. But in my project we are using 9i and I wud b able to do all the practice on it.
Moreover 10g has only one paper for OCA whereas for 9i I need to clear 2 exams for OCA.
Can anybody tell me the differences between the two ?
And will all 10g commands necessary for certification run on 9i platform ?
Plz suggest which one should I go for !!

If you just want the OCP title then do 10G. If you want to be a better DBA, do the 9i OCP and then upgrade to 10G. I am 10G OCP and I could clearly see that the level of detail of the 9i study material is far superior to that of the 10G study material.
For 10G OCP they seem to assume that the database will tune itself and that you can backup and recover your database but clicking around in Enterprise Manager. This is all good in theory but if those tools fail then you still need to know what to do to get your database working.

  • Is it possible to get oracle certification on line?

    Hi,
after many years developing in pl/sql on Oracle I've decided to study for giving the pl/sql exam (Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I 1Z0-051 and  Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL 1Z0-144).
    My questions are:
    - is it possible to pass the test on line?
    - is it possible to download freely from the web the previous exam tests or sample tests about these two exams?
    Thanks in advance!

    - is it possible to pass the test on line?
    - is it possible to download freely from the web the previous exam tests or sample tests about these two exams?
    - 1Z0-051 is one of the very few exams that can be taken online.  1Z0-144 cannot be taken online.  It must be taken at a Pearson Vue testing center.
    - No. There are practice exams available for a fee from SelfTest Software, Transcender, and uCertify.  Anything else you find is likely to be a brain dump, which is illegal and can invalidate your certification.  However, there are links to certification-safe resources for both exams at the following links:
