What is the difference between ORACLE 11 g & ORACLE 12 c in terms of technology, career and certification exam. If I need to become or choose career path in ORACLE DATABASE(DBA) which Exam I need to select. I think I have sufficient theoretical knowledge of ORACLE DATABASE but I want improve my practical skills & knowledge in short I need hands on ORACLE DB.
Where can I get the study material containing HANDS ON and Assignment  so that  I can improve my practical skills  and knowledge of ORACLE DATABASE by practising them.
Please help me.

Well, putting it politely, you should defer the certification for a while as I don't think it's going to help you much at the moment.
For the difference between 11g and 12c, read this book.
Contents
If you want to choose a career path of DBA, what you need to do is to understand the oracle database. 12c is a very recent release and just 2 days ago, in a group of about 600 people at a conference, not a single one mentioned that they are having it in their production systems. That is to be expected too as testing and validations of the new releases take time. 11g, on the other hand is available from a long time. So if it is me, I would start from 11g. For improving your skills, download oracle databas from http://otn.oracle.com and install it and play with it.
Study material is only available for those who pay and attend the courses from either Oracle University or from approved partners. Sharing of it is strictly not allowed. Buy a market exam preparation guide if you are not willing to attend a course yet but just so you know, to earn OCP, you would need to attend one course at least from either OU or from its partner.

Exam order is not important, but you dont get certificates unless pre-requisites all met. The is an interesting cheap beta exam arround at present if you are up for it ... 1z0-144

    Hi,
I recently completed my PL/SQL exam. I hope you have taken a course on that. Oracle Courseware is the best to prepare for the exam. THere are unscored questions on that.
There aree lot of questions on procedures, functions, subprograms, packages, lobs, trggers and depedencies.
You need to clearly understand the difference between package specification and package body, where you need to use subprograms, the difference between row level trigger and statement level trigger, Directory Object used to create Lob, UTl, Dependencies, how to invoke procedures and functions.

  • 1Z0-051 Oracle Certification - OCA

Hi. I am in a fix and so need your help.
I am planning to give 1Z0-051 Oracle Certification exam(Oracle Database 11g- SQL fundamentals). However, I will be unable to give my 1Z0-052 exam(Oracle Database 11g- Administration-I) at this time. So, if I give only 1Z0-051 exam, then will it carry some weightage in my resume? Also, if I pass the 1Z0-051 exam, then how should I put it in my resume? That I am a Oracle Certified individual?

(If you need proof of this copy the report from the test center ... you cannot really get from of this from Oracle. Certview will publish certifcations, not exam passes). If you take this online there is no proof it was you you actually took the exam).
However you are not Oracle certified and must not put that in your resume ... you may only put it in your resumé when you have proof from Oracle you have been awarded a Certification.
The weight of this exam pass, and indeed any exam pass or certification, can depend on the reader(s) of the resumé; and the nature of job you are applying for; and the strength of the other candidates for the job. Suppose an employer was looking for CV's for a DBA job. Assuming the HR/agencies let the CV's through they might get (in practice a higher number of DBA OCPs might be expected):
Person with a 1z0-051 pass and degree and no experience.
5 with 9i DBA OCP, most with MA degrees, with no experience
10g DBA OCA obtained 3 years ago with no experience.
Apparently experienced DBA with no formal qualifications and no degree.
Now the first and last candidates have a high probability of being what they say they are, but the first wuld be no good if an experienced DBA was needed. It would be necessary at interview to be careful to check the others had the experience level claimed due to certifications being obtained though cheating and fraud. Its also worth noting DBA OCA does not cover backups / restores in depth.
However if what was needed was someone to query database results as a result of some tests the first candidate might acutally be the most suitable .. assuming he has studied the 1z0-051 carefully. The 10g OCA might not have done SQL ... the experienced DBA might feel that was not a suitable job for him, and the 9i DBA OCPs may have rushed (or cheated) their way through 1z0-007 as quickly as possible and would not be interested / capablle of this work.
(Please note this article is biased against 9i DBA OCP ... at one point my understanding is there was a particularly high level of cheating/fraud against this certification and some poor training from some WDP institutions ... which is a pity for those achieving the certification through due work and good training).

  • Oracle certification doubt ....

    Hi ,
I am using oracle db seens last 8 months in my project .
Currently i am giving SCJP exam for Java certification next month(as in my project we are using java as front end and oracle 11i as backend ).
just after that i am planning to go for Oracle certification .
but i am not sure which certification i should go for ...
for more details : i am working as software engg (developer) and have basic idea about SQL queries , procedure, functions, cursors etc..
I want to do certification which will add a value to my career as developer so that it will help me in IT industry.
    thanks a lot.

My personal suggestion (any others may say differently) is :
    (1) concentrate on on your SCJP first. i know your probably young, but keep focused on that and dont get distracted.
If you successfully clear that, aim to do :
    (2) Aim to do 1z0-051 next (11g-SQL) ( Hint: There's an Oracle Press Book focusing on this exma).
    (3) Next do Do 1z0-144 after that. (11-gPL/SQL)
This should give you a PL/SQL developer OCA certification.
choosing to d 1z0-051 / 1z0-144 looks initially more daunting than the 1z0-007/1z0-147 alternatives but I personally would regard the former as more modern and relevant exams( I may be the only who thinks this way though).

  • Need infos on Oracle DBA certification exam

    Hi all,
I want to pass an Oracle 1àg DBA certification exam but i don't know what exam should i have to pass. on 2005 i've already passed teh exam IZ0-001 SQL and PLSL for oracle 9i but now i want to pass an OCA or OCP certification. can some recommand me which exam should pass.
I mean can i directly pass exam for OCP or i have to pass the OCA exam befvore OCP.
I want to know if OCA is prerequisite exam to pass OCP.
Is there a documents or any link which explain that process.
    Thanks.

Firstly, you must pass anyone of the below exams, they are non-proctored exams and you can take them by online. Take an account from http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/ and register anyone of the below exams.(Note:Enough only one exam you want)
    1Z0-007Introduction to Oracle9i SQL or
    1Z0-047Oracle Database SQL Expert or
    1Z0-051Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
And later yo will take "Oracle Database 11g: Administration I 1Z0-052" exam. If you pass this exam you will be an OCA.
After all you must complete one of the approved instructor-led online or in-class courses. This course is mandatory. After the course is finished you must take
"Oracle Database 11g: Administration II 1Z0-053" exam.
And the end you are an OCP, congratulations! :)
