How do I get lost Sylvan OCP certificates re-issued/confirmed

I had done my Oracle 7, 8, 8i and 9i DBA OCP through Sylvan Prometric years ago and during a break-in at my house, the certificates got stolen. I now need to urgently get hold of these certificates, but Sylvan says that they are archived and I need to contact Oracle
I registered with Pearson Vue and after receiving my username and password, I went into my account history, but nothing shows up, as I had not done my certifications through them.
How do I go about to get these certificates re-issued/verified?

You should contact [email protected] and provide your name, as it was provided when you registered for your exam, your Prometric ID and the list of certifications in question. They will not be able to provide you with score reports from your exams, but they will be able to assit with replacing any certificates that you have earned. You should also let them know that you have created your profile with Pearson VUE and ask them for the information that you will need to get authorized on CertView. They should be able to provide you with the exact info to enter so that you won't have to wait for manual authorization.

How can I get certified in oracle 10g DBA

Hi,
I have been working as a DBA for past 3 years. Our database is 8i and now i want to upgrade to 10g.
I want to get certified in oracle 10g DBA. So far I havn't written any exam in oracle dba.
Please assist/suggest and show some path to get it achieved.
How to check and when I can appear for the exam and types of questions etc...

We running OAS 10g rel1 (9.0.4.1).
When we were installed infrastructure we did not include "oracle certification authority". We running custom application written in forms 10g
Everything was fine, until management decided to use SSL. To make changes in configuration I need to use OCA.
My question is can I install now only OCA in infrastructure without destroying anything?

Short answer - No you can't. It is impossible to configure OCA after install. I also made this mistake. If you try to install it will create a new oracle home and a new infrastructure database just for OCA.
Easiest thing is to just install OCA on a new PC and generate the certificates. Then just turn it off until you need it again.
Or you could do what I did, just install it on the same machine anyway, set up SSL and then shut it down. If I need it it's there, but I don't get the performance hit of 2 DBs on the server.

I still think certification is more of a personal decision than a professional one.
Back in the day, it was pretty much only Novell who had a certification programme. Then companies like Oracle realized it was a good vehicle to sell more training. Imagine money being a motivating factor! Shock!
Since then, certification has gained more of a foot hold within our industry, but I agree with other posters that experience and working knowledge is far more important.
I started my Oracle DBA certification 'career' back in '99 with 7.3 and have become certified in every release since then, up to and including 10g. I will get my 11g too when the time comes. The reason I have done this is purely for personal satisfaction. Having been an Oracle DBA for some 18 years now, I cannot justify NOT doing the exams. If I really do know what I'm doing, then taking an exam shouldn't really be too much of an issue. Plus, studying for an exam forces me to get acquainted with all the new features which should make me a more knowledgeable DBA.
Having said that, I've interviewed certified DBAs and have found worrying gaps in their knowledge. Personally I don't think the DBA upgrade exams are that difficult. I always finish well within the time allowed and score in the 80% to 90%+ range every time. In fact, I completed my 7.3 to 8.0 upgrade exam in 22 minutes. No I'm not a genius so judge for yourself how difficult that exam was.
Over time certification may become more and more relevant as an initial screen, but DBAing is such a vast and complex area that no multiple choice exam can accurately assess your depth of knowledge.
One final point, I do think Oracle themselves de-values the DBA certification by offering two certifications in one exam. For example, 8i certified DBAs can get 10g certification by passing ONE exam. I think that's wrong. If you missed 9i, then you should be made to go back and get it first - no short cuts. Just my opinion.
So, bottom line. If you're relatively new to DBAing, then go get certified. It's something else to put on your resume and shows you got off your butt and worked for it. If you're an experienced DBA, what's your excuse for not doing it? Scared you'd fail? ;-)

HT1420 How can I get past 5 authorized computers when we have more computers, ipads, iphones than allowed. I want to have parental control by sharing 1 apple ID with one account?

We have multiple computers, laptops, iphones and ipad in our home. We have kept one account for iTunes in order to monitor what my family downloads for parental monitoring. How can I get approval or allow for more devices to be 'authorized' to purchase from iTunes? I don't want to have to have more than one account that I have to monitor - technology is overwhelming enough to control with all the hackers and distasteful things on the web.

Does any music show in the Purchased tab on the iTunes store app on your phone ? Music can't be re-downloaded in all countries, and even where it can be it will only appear whilst it remains in the store. Do you have your purchases on your computer and/or on a backup of your puchases so that you can sync them to your phone ?

How do I get the RAM upgraded when there is no Authorized Dealer in my country?

I bought a late 2012 iMac at a Big Box store in Panama (Not Florida). No one spoke English and my Español is limited. I knew there was no optical drive in the maching and was prepared for that. But no where that I read while investigating this machine did it say : RAM not user installable.
You have to go to an Apple Authorized dealer to have your upgrade installed! That means a $65 an hour or more service charge, if you have access to a dealer. Probably more since that have to disassemble the entire machine to do what was a 5 minute task for a user. I'm betting you have to buy the RAM from the dealer as well. That would be three times street price.
Since I bought this iMac in Panama, the keyboard is Spanish. After some time with Apple Support, they still haven't given me an answer. Not that they didn't try. I found out on my own how to change the language and text. The keyboard now speaks English. However all of the keys, other than alphabet are still for a Spanish keyboard. How can I get new keycaps? (This questionmark was typed with the Underscore/dash key). I hate having to type several keys before I get to the right one.
As to the RAM, I guess I took a beating on the overall price. $1539 without tax for an $1149 machine with 8GB RAM and no way to install it. No optical drive, another $69.
APPLE! There is no Authorized Apple Dealer in the entire country of Panama! I tried purchasing from Amazon.com, but no one can ship outside of The U.S.A. However, the iMac I bought is identical to the one I tried to order. It was sold to me in Panama. What a bunch of crap. If they would have allowed my original order to be shipped, I would have no problems, be able to type at a speed prohibited by the wrong keycaps, Have the RAM pre installed, and be over $500 richer.
I've been using Apples since the Apple][......some thirty years with over a dozen or more models! This is the first time I feel CHEATED!

I would just contact Apple directly at 1-800- MYAPPLE and get all of this sorted out.
You have a brand new iMac with one year of free, complimentary AppleCare plus free 90 days of telephone support.
Call them, explain you situation very calmly to them and see if they can work something out for you.
We are all just users here. We can't really help you with this issue. Apple , from time to,time, does peruse these forums, but not regularly. You got lucky last time. They may not see your posting this time.

You can easily set up the iPod to automatically sync to your current iTunes library (or just do a Restore), but that will replace the iPod's existing content with content from your current iTunes library (erasing the iPod). If your old computer was "retired" gracefully and you were able to transfer its complete iTunes user data to your new computer, there is no problem because all of the songs on the iPod now are already in your current iTunes library. However, if there are songs on the iPod that are not in your current iTunes library, those songs will be lost. That may be a problem...
If you want to preserve what is on the iPod, you can try setting the iPod to Manually manage music and videos. I believe you can do that from an iTunes library that is not the iPod's currently associated library. Select the iPod in iTunes, so that you see its Summary settings screen. Check the box for Manually manage music and videos. (If iTunes puts up any warning about erasing or replacing the iPod's existing content, Revert the change and cancel out.) Click Apply. The iPod is no longer set to automatically sync. But you can add new content manually to what is already on the iPod. And the songs should not be grayed out.
However, you cannot use iTunes to transfer songs on the iPod to your current iTunes library (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). If there are songs on the iPod that are not in your computer's iTunes library, you should eventually "offload" those song files because your iPod can easily break, become corrupted, or get lost. iTunes syncs content in one direction only (from computer to iPod), but there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like iPod "transfer," you should get some links, including a CNET article on the topic.
Once all of your songs are "consolidated" in your current iTunes library, you can set up the iPod for automatic syncing to that library.
