Oracle client 8.1.7 and ldap naming method

Hello!
I have forms 6 and oracle net 8.0.5 but this version does not support ldap naming method.... so anyone know version of oracle client for windows support which ldap? Maybe 8.1.7? I need to find 8.1.7 client instalation maybe some links?
regards - mj

The minimum version for LDAP naming is 8.1.6, but I don't think it will be possible to direct Forms 6 to use it, I think you'll find that it's tied into the 8.0 stack.
If you want a centralised naming method for use with the 8.0 stack then it would have to be the old Oracle Names service, which was removed after version 9.2.

or is it sufficient to put dll in classpath and classes12.zip in

you need the Oracle client libraries installed.
And the easiest way to do this is to make an oracle client installation.
the DLL files should be in your PATH, not classpath.

The problem is Oracle usually don't provide direct Oracle Client download except for Windows. You need to download the Server installation file and install the client piece. The download files are rather large.
and is there any other tool which i can install instead of oracle client? It depends on what you plan to do with Oracle client and why you need it.
On alternative is instance client, it has direct download for all supported platform.

  • Remove Oracle client path from windows 2008 64 bit

    Hi All,
I had to unstall the epm Hyperion product  after i found that installation need to done on a different language, which has oracle client for both 32 and 64 bit. But when i reinstall it is complaining about the oracle home path.
Below is the error i get from the log.
[FATAL] [INS-32053] The original name of the Oracle Home directory specified already exists.
CAUSE: The name of the Oracle home directory Home indicated on the command line corresponded to a name of origin existing Oracle Home directory in the central inventory.
ACTION: Choose another name for Oracle Home directory. Abandon this installation session and try again.
I have made sure that the filesystem is completely is removed after the unstallation except for these client files which i have removed manually.
Looks like the unnstalation doesn't happen correctly for the clients and old path is somewhere still exists. I have removed the client path from environment variable path list and tried again but no luck.
Can anyone help me to identify the places where i need to look to remove the earlier Oracle Home.
    Thanks

The registry, perhaps, or the inventory (which is in c:\program files\oracle or c:\program files (x86)\oracle - cannot recall right now).
However, if you search Oracle Support for "windows clean machine," you can find an article that shows you how to remove every trace of Oracle software from your Windows computer.

  • Oracle Client Version

    Hi,
We are on PT 8.46.04 and FSCM 8.8 and planning to upgrade the Batch NT server Hardware running on Windows Server 2000 SP4 to WIndows Server 2003.
We are also upgrading the Oracle database from 9.0.2.1.0 to 10g.
My question is, do we need to upgrade the Oracle Client on the APP and BATCH servers to match the Database Version or still keep the old Oracle client version which is 9.0.2.1.0?
can we have different database and client versions?
And also does Oracle support client 9.2.0.1.0 on Windows server 2003 .
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

can we have different database and client versions? The official and recommanded way by Peoplesoft is to meet the same version between client (what ever client machine, application server and batch server) and the database server.
And also does Oracle support client 9.2.0.1.0 on Windows server 2003 Yes, Oracle 9.2 is certified on Windows 2003 (however, 9.2.0.3 or higher patchset was required).
No, it is not supported because Oracle 9.2 is is not supported anymore.
    Nicolas.

  • ASP to Oracle...without the Oracle client...

Hi there. I work in a university setting, complete with politics and territorial departments. I am authoring some web pages using third party software for the content management (which uses SQL Server); the 3rd party software requires these pages use ASP. However, there is some data I need to pull off of an Oracle Database and integrate with the regular content.
I have just begun to learn about my options for connecting to Oracle from ASP, and they all involve, if I understand correctly, installing the Oracle client software on the web server.
The department that controls the web server (Win 2000 IIS) has balked on installing the client software. They want to keep the machine "clean".
Is there a method for connecting to Oracle from ASP that does not involve installing the Oracle client on the web server? Maybe just a driver? Someone told me that I might be able to have the ASP page call a procedure on SQL server (which is not on the web server) which in turn connects to Oracle, pulls the data, then returns it to the ASP page. Sounds convoluted, but I guess if it works...
The issue is not going away; we are pretty much tied to ASP for our web development and Oracle for our database needs. Can anyone give me some advice on what direction I should take? Do I have any options? (Besides stealing the web server away...)
    Thanks in advance...

If I were in your position, I would simply explain that if you want to pull data from an Oracle database and use that data to create dynamic ASP web pages, you'll need the Oracle client on the web server. 99%+ of the world does it this way, it'll almost certainly cost more to develop and maintain a nonstandard setup than it will cost to "depurify" the web server with the Oracle client. Save lots of headaches down the road.
Barring that, however, there are a few options technically available to you. I'll list them in my personal order of preference
    1) There are some third parties (DataDirect is one) that sell "thin" ODBC drivers which don't require the Oracle client to be installed. They speak the Oracle wire protocol. You can use this thin driver and the Microsoft OLE DB to ODBC translation layer to communicate with Oracle. These aren't particularly cheap products as I understand it, but you may be able to negotiate terms. You'll still have to install something on the web server, it'll just be a smaller something than the Oracle client.
    2) You could set up a SQL Server database on a separate machine (you could have SQL Server & Oracle on the same machine I suppose), install the Oracle client on that machine, and set SQL Server up to query from the Oracle database. Your ASP pages could query the SQL Server database on this machine, which would query Oracle and return the data. Not particlarly elegant, but doable. If you have to license the SQL Server install (i.e. you don't have a site license), this is probably more expensive & less elegant than #1.
Side note: the reason you don't need to install "SQL Server client" software on the web server is that Microsoft has helpfully decided that SQL Server client components need to be a standard part of Windows.
    3) (Warning, speculative) The goal here is to use Oracle's thin JDBC driver (no Oracle client required) on the web server to query the Oracle database. I don't know if you could cobble together some database access components using Visual J++ called from ASP that called Oracle's thin JDBC driver. This strikes me as requiring a whole mess of bailing wire, duct tape, and chewing gum to hold together if it's possible, but has the benefit of not costing you money (just sanity, time, future maintenance...)
So, it's technically possible to do what you wnat.
I'd strongly advocate getting folks to understand the necessity of installing the Oracle client on their precious web server, no matter how pristine they think it is. If you're really backed into a corner, explain that you can go for option #1, but there will be a financial cost to doing so. Without knowing your precise requirements, I would tend to suspect that you won't be able to meet you project objectives with #2 & #3 both because they'll make development, design, and maintenance more difficult and because they'll involve more "moving parts" which will tend to make performance & reliability suffer. If this is a low-priority system that people won't rely on too heavily, you may be able to get away with it. Of course, if it's a low priority system, my guess is that you wouldn't have to time to develop it.

  • Oracle Client install sequence before EPM install..

    Hi All,
I'm trying to install EPM 11.1.2.1 on a Windows 2008 R2 Standard Server(64 bit). IIS 7. This a development/proof of concept set up.
I want to install Foundation, EPM Architect, Essbase, Planning, Reporting and Analysis, HFM, Strategic Finance and FDM on the same machine.
I want to install an Oracle 11g database 64 bit database to use as repository.
According to the Installation documents, EPM Architect and HFM support 64 bit Oracle client, but Strategic Finance and FDM require 32 bit Oracle client.
I installated them in the following order.
    Oracle 11g 32 bit client
    Oracle 11g 64 bit database
    Oracle 11g 64 bit client
I faced issues in configuring EPM Architect where it didn't recognize ODAC installation.
    1. What should be the order in which I should install the Oracle 11g 64 bit database, Oracle 11g 32 bit client and Oracle 11g 64 bit client ?
    2. To install ODAC (ODP for ASP.NET ), I had to use the custom option for the clients, but the custom option shows listener and MTS services.
Should I install them for each client ?
    Thanks.

If you are installing this one machine then I would take the route of Oracle DB, 32bit client, 64bit client
    Cheers

  • Instalation oracle client 10g

Hi. My name is Pedro Ulloa and I'm writing from Chile.
I just bought the data base oracle 10g and all is perfect, the connection, administration, etc. we have installed oracle 10g in a Linux machine and the users are in a windows machine. the problem is when we install the oracle client the first time we have no problem, but if there is any problem with the instalation and we have to install it again the driver changes for instance: the first time is OraClient10g_home1 and the second time change to OraClient10g_home2 or home3 and so forth.
That is a problem because mi connection string is the following:
    Set BaseDatos = New ADODB.Connection
    BaseDatos.Open "Driver={Oracle en OraClient10g_home1};UID=operador;Password=xxx;DBQ=orcl"
What should I do when I'm going to install the oracle client more than once and I always want the driver is in the same folder.
Note: sorry for my basic english. it´s the better I can do.
    Best regard.

SELinux is a Linux security extension. I haven't run debian in about 7 years, but I think the more recent installation packages have SELinux. Check on that and try disabling it before you install.

  • Using Notes and Oracle Client in the same application on Linux crashes

This thread is copied from a thread of the same name under Database - General, since I cannot get any replies there.
Could someone from Oracle PLEASE comment on this.
Our application on Linux loads the Notes client libraries and then the Oracle client libraries. The application will crashes when connectimg to an Oracle server. This is because the T_* symbols in libnnz11.so get fixed up into libnotes.so rather than locally into libnnz11.so where the functions are defined.

We have circumvented the problem for the time being by making sure that we load the Oracle libraries before Notes, but we cannot go with that as a long term solution.
In my opinion the Oracle library is wrongly linked since all the T_* functions are defined in libnnz11.so. When we load Oracle first, the loader debug trace shows the correct fixups. When we load Notes first, the loader trace shows the incorrect fixups. We are using dlopen(libor9i.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Oracle and dlopen(libnotes.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Notes. libor9i.so has a dependency on libclntsh.so.10.1.
An opinion would really be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John Unsworth

    Thanks again.
We don't have an Oracle support contract because we do not use Oracle ourselves. We supply an application that synchronises data between multiple data servers and server types, of which Oracle is one and Notes is another, as well as LDAP servers and many other types.
Producing a full resolved binary is therefore not an option since the types of data server are configured when the apploication is installed, and then the client software for each server is loaded as required.
The end user of the application supplies the client libraries and has a support contract for the servers, in particular Oracle and Notes in this case. So the other option is for the end user to raise a ticket using his support contract, but he is reluctant to do that since he considers that this is our problem as we supply the application that is having the problem. So we are in a dead water area. We do not want to take out a support contract just to get what is an Oracle product problem resolved. I imagine that this problem is something that has not been encountered before, because our use of the client library in conjunction with other client libraries is probably unusual.
So that is why I am hoping, without any success so far, that someone from Oracle will pick this up.

  • Oracle client 32/64 bit on Crystal Server 2013 and Windows Server 2012

I'm getting the error "Unknown Database Connector Error" when I run report on the server and it works OK on crystal designer 2013.
Been reading this thread 32&64 bit Oracle Client but not much help there.
    Here are the  details
    System
    Windows Server 2012
    Crystal Server 2013 SP5
Crystal Server has been installed and appears to work fine. I was able to develop a brand new report locally and saved it to the server and it displays ok. Of course when I click on refresh on the report, it will error out due to database connection it looks like.
We have installed both oracle client drivers 64 and 32. 64 was installed first and then 32.The path has been modified so that the 32 shows up first.
I even ensure oracle_home and oracle_home32 are specified and restarted the server. I still get the same error.
The tns entries are also located in both installs of oracle client...
    What might be the issue?

Oracle Database Client 12.1.0.2.0 (32-bit and 64-bit installed)
    Installation Type: Custom
    COMPONENTS INSTALLED:
    SQLPLUS
    ORACLE NET
We are currently not using an ODBC connection.
We installed Crystal 2013 Server SP05. This is the sole package installed (believe it's the latest version) without any extra patch package installed (believe no patch needed as it's the latest version).

  • Oracle Client 64-bit and Oracle Client 32-bit on the same server

    Hi,
I have a Windows 2008 server 64-bit with Oracle Client 64-bit and Oracle Client 32-bit installed on different directories (D:\Oracle and D:\Oracle32)
Is it possible to define for certain applications to use the TNSNAMES entry from the 64-bit Oracle Client
and for other applications to use the TNSNAMES entry from the 32-bit Oracle Client
Once I installed the Oracle Client 32-bit (Oracle Client 64-bit version was already installed) and restarted the server I performed a TNSPING and it defaulted to the Oracle Client 32-bit installation path
    Thanks,
    Barry

    Hello,
When you install a new client on a server, it will update the PATH variable, and add the ORACLE_HOME\bin path to it, at the first place. That explains why the tnsping use the last installed ORACLE_HOME.
What you can do if you want only to change the default path to the tnsnames is to set the environment variable TNS_ADMIN to the path where the tnsnames you want to use is located. You can modify this variable in your application if you want to use another tnsnames.
If you want switch from 32 bits to 64 bits client, then you have to modify the PATH variable.
    Hope this will help.
    Best regards,
    Sylvie

  • Oledb and path length - Oracle client and networking components ...

    Hello,
    I've been suddenly getting the
"Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation."
error when trying to connect to an oracle 9.2 database using the msdaora oledb provider.
"..ora92/bin" is in my PATH environoment variable and the hints about setting read and execute permissions on the ..ora92/bin direction didn't work for me. However, what did do the trick, was reducing the length the PATH environement variable to under 182 characters.
Anybody else seen this that can explain what's gonig on here?
    Erik

    Hello Kamal,
    Thanks for your reply
    My system looks like this:
OS: MS Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
    msdaora version: 2.81.1117.0
This problem has only recently surfaced, but has now appeared on at least two other systems as well as my own. Any system changes must have happened on all three systems. I have "automatic updates" setup on my computer and they maybe setup on the other computers - could the be responsible for breaking oledb?
    Other things I have tried:
The Oracle Oledb provider is also not working. It gives me the error:
"OraOLEDBpus.dll: the specified module could not be found"
When I reduce the size of the PATH variable it works too.
I am always able to run executables from the ../ora92/bin directory. So the path is only being wrongly interpreted by the Oledb providers.
    Erik
